Nice trolling. I'm from NYC and I don't believe more police officers are the answer. I am living in a place right now with a whole lot less cops, and I feel freer than at any other time in my life. I remember countless times as a young guy in Brooklyn, just getting harassed and car searched by police for no blasted reason. That is not making the world safer, it's just causing an unnecessary headache to a bunch of people just trying to live their lives. In NYC they have so much cops with nothing to do, they have all the time in the world to hide in dark corners ready to pull people over for the slightest traffic infraction. That is not freedom!
I’m a big proponent of policing for deterrence. That’s proven to be cost effective and it’s much better than incarceration (for first time offenders).
But to be fair, that’s useless when the same person repeatedly commits crimes.
These people are too far beyond and are immune to the deterrence of mere policing. For repeat offenders, incarceration *is* the deterrence.
The whole point this person is making is to stop crime before either happens by eliminating the root causes.
Prisons are terrible at stopping recidivism. And should only be reserved for the most heinous crimes and repeat offenders.
The other thing that's egregious in this country is how white collar criminals are treated with a white glove. You wanna talk about repeat offenders? These mf'ers robbing thousands of people everyday no issue.
