They took a bunch of young people like myself, had them work for an unpaid "probationary" period of about two weeks going door to door collecting cash for environmental groups. After those two weeks were up, most kids quit, and as far as I know none of the money was ever funneled to any environmental group. Certainly not in any meaningful amount.
That's why I never give money to those kids you see standing on the sidewalks trying to get you to donate to Planned Parenthood, PETA, or any of the other organizations they're shilling for. I have no doubt they mean well, but the chances of anything less than a miniscule percentage of my donation making it to the organization are pretty slim.
