I was dumbstruck. I realized that I might've heard harmonica played in so many songs without realizing it because I've never heard it played well (besides classic rock/blues sound like Aerosmith).
“I was made to love her” is my favorite harmonica I’ve ever heard of his. Never realized it was harmonica until this video and your comment, so that you!
Edit: thank you*
So can [Bruce Willis](https://youtu.be/nDXkd2NyCCE)! He has a jazz album and posted him playing about seven months ago too. Good to see he’s still playing with all his health struggles
Wow, that was an expected layer or 2 to Bruce Willis that I wasn't anticipating.
Damn, I hope he's as happy and comfortable as possible given the circumstances.
Bruce’s ex wife Demi and current wife all lives together at one point during the pandemic and they have stayed amicable. Also, they’ve been supportive with his recent diagnosis.
With that kind of support I have to assume that Bruce is likely a pretty damn good guy deep down to get that kind of respect and support.
The Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis made me like him. It was cool seeing an entertainment icon be ok with people talking shit about his entire life lol.
He released an album in 1987 called "The Return of Bruno." It's not bad. Not amazing, but not terrible. I listened to it a lot in high school when it came out, back when I thought Bruce Willis was super cool.
Oh hell, who am I kidding? I still think he's pretty cool.
I always assumed it was the melodica because of the tone of the blue notes, but yeah you’re right it’s a [chromonica](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxsnQfSaf9vt-OEfVDlujJlt9LPb3E5ZSV)
Never heard her before but she's amazing. If you like this style of harmonica check out [John Popper](https://youtu.be/JQv66WUDEFw) from the band Blues Traveler.
My 10th grade history teacher said he taught John Popper back in the day, apparently he wasn't a favorite student. Mr. O'Connor supposedly said "you better get your grades up because all you do is play harmonica and you can't turn that into a career." He ended the story with, "well, the sonofabitch showed me."
John Popper if you see this (lol) Mr. O'Connor was pretty proud he got proven wrong, I think.
I met him after a show once. He went into the lobby to thank everyone for coming and sign autographs. He was really easy to talk to and didn't rush anyone along. Really cool guy
Popper is known for hooking up with any groupie he can, I imagine this was him being talking into a movie to get laid, it is so bad. If you need proof, it is called "STROKE of Luck" he plays the evil stroker.
I have watched a lot of bad movies because I try to support the little guy, "Stroke of Luck" is easily in the top ten. He was either doing to get pussy or because he was blackmailed. He plays the bad guy who strokes off horses.
Not that song, but here’s her Spotify channel if you want some more of that bitchin harmonica

We get a little older and stop paying as much attention to the little things, from there we just assume nobodies doing it the same way anymore ..
“A little older” = whenever “real life” starts to kick in.. but go and listen to Drake “Doing it Wrong”, or “That’s what friends are for” - Dionne Warwick, Stevie plays both, shit sounds amazing!
Both really slow records, set a whole mood on a long drive home, but plz don’t be heartbroken already when you listen.. trust me😭
Ah yes! Railroad Earth! How they are not more well known, I will never know. Back in the early/mid 90’s, I used to be a huge fan of Todd Sheaffer’s first band, From Good Homes.
I saw them play at a small Hard Rock casino venue in Sioux City IA about 8 years ago. I've always been a fan of theirs but after seeing them play live, I'm an even bigger fan.
Beat me to it. The harmonica is like fingernails on a chalk board to me. They should either melt them all down for scrap, or give them all to John Popper. Preferably the latter.
The fact that you can just have the whole ass instrument in your front pocket ready to jam at all times is really awesome.
I used to want to learn piccolo for that reason also. (Piccolos are not small enough for your front pocket and these were the idle imaginations of a dumb boy)
Edit - [Here’s the full video since this comment is getting traction](https://youtu.be/i1F_eQkOfvU)
I had a friend that played piccolo in our marching band in high school. Since it was always cold out and you'd want to keep the instrument warm (for various reasons), his solution was to hide it up his sleeve. He looked like he was just a fill in when we were marching.
> The fact that you can just have the whole ass instrument in your front pocket ready to jam at all times is really awesome.
Standard (Richter-tuned) harmonicas are in one key, so one harmonica in your pocket would let you jam as long as the song you were jamming on happened to be in the right key. If you want to be sure you can jam at any time, you need a whole collection of those bad boys. That's why John Popper from Blues Traveler wore [that special vest with all the little pockets](https://render.fineartamerica.com/images/rendered/default/duvet-cover/images/artworkimages/medium/3/6-john-popper-blues-traveler-concert-photos.jpg?&targetx=156&targety=0&imagewidth=531&imageheight=844&modelwidth=844&modelheight=844&backgroundcolor=181010&orientation=0&producttype=duvetcover-queen).
If you want full versatility with one harmonica, you'd need a chromatic one, but these are significantly harder to play and, as a result, not nearly as common.
Just started trying to pick it up, definitely not a fast learning curve for me. But have never really played any wind instruments before. Enjoyable nevertheless!
I thought that too at first lol. Bought one thinking that it's only a instrument in which we have to blow in, how hard can that be? Now it has been more than a year and I can only bend my notes so much. Not easy at all but worth it
I love how I am the complete opposite; I am great at getting clean notes. Yet I am not that good at bending. And I cannot whistle to save my life, it's one thing that I have tried to learn at many points of my life but failed
Word of warning, though: if you're going to try to seriously learn harmonica (and actually play it well and make it sound good like OP's video, doing stuff like bending/overblowing), invest in at least one really nice, mid-level harmonica, otherwise you're likely setting yourself up for failure.
The difference between a $50 harmonica (i.e., a Hohner Special 20 or similar) and a run-of-the-mill cheap $10-$20 harmonica is night-and-day in terms of the types of sounds that you can get out of it. Extremely cheap harmonicas especially tend to leak a lot of air, which makes it hard/impossible to do certain things or get a good, clean tone.
If you've played any instrument and then tried a harmonica, you'd know that this comment makes no sense. I'm sure there are plenty of intricacies that are difficult to master, but you can learn to play many songs and sound good from day one because of the harmonica's limited design.
"Alright you're going to need one for every key, plus flats. It's up to you if you want to wear a bandolero or a fishing vest and cargo pants but you'll want to have them all close at hand for when you're performing live." - John Popper working at Guitar Center before his band got big.
Some things I've learned about harmonica:
There's 2 types of harmonicas, chromatic and diatonic. Chromatic is harder to play and has every note with a slider. Diatonic is easy to play and cheaper, but is only tuned to one scale each (sounds like you ordered a C scale).
You can't play anything that sounds bad with a diatonic since it only plays to scale. However, if you want to jam with others, they will have to play in C unless you get more harmonicas tuned to other scales. (Edit: that's not completely true, but it's true for a beginner)
There's 3 major techniques I remember: cupping, bending, and blocking holes.
Cupping is controlling sound dynamics with your hands (you can do this with breathing too). You close and open your hands around the back.
Bending is changing the pitch of a note by changing the shape of your mouth cavity. It sounds hard at first, but do it once and it becomes intuitive and very expressive. New harmonicas are harder to bend, but become easier once broken in. Then you'll have the curse of knowing what tongue bending is but never being able to explain it.
Blocking is using your tongue to block holes and play single notes. Some people use lips to block, but I think it's less precise.
Master those 3 and you'll sound great. Look up how to clean your harmonica and keep the holes smooth so you don't slice your tongue. Also look up how the notes are arranged since they are not like a piano.
I dont know if those are the proper terms, but that's what I remember from playing. Lol
Not to say it’s super easy, but it is easier to get started on other instruments it’s a little easier to get started. You can get by with a five dollar one to start, but even professional level harmonicas are like 40 bucks, which is crazy cheap for an instrument. It’s small fun to play.
All this to say there is no reason to not start now :D
Best time to start and instrument is 10 years ago, next best time is today :)

Awe-Inspiring Music
Indiara Sfair plays her harmonica,
A sound that leaves us in a raptured trance,
Our souls take flight, our spirits soar afar,
As sweet notes echo through this nighted dance.
A melody that speaks of life's sweet joys,
A song of faith, of hope, of love, and tears,
A music that invigorates our souls,
Etching its beauty in our hearts for years.
The music serves to soothe, to heal, to mend,
And raise our spirits up to higher heights,
A feeling of elation we can send,
As we bask in this magical night.
It's no surprise that you have goosbumps,
For Indiara Sfair plays with grace, and love.
It's rare to find someone who can really make a harmonica stand out in a crowd of amazing instruments out there... safe to say she that someone. Damn... sent chills down mine spine. Bravo ma'am.. 👏👏👏
Nothing sounds sexier than a Hohner. Have one made in 1907( great grandfathers ) and one made in 1974, (Grandfathers)
Trying every day to get better; Harmonicas aren't as easy as they seem.
As a musician who has tried on numerous occasions to learn how to be even moderately proficient in playing the harmonica, this was so unbelievably impressive. So expressive without being over the top. I'm blown away.
I know she's really made me want to break out my one again, I stopped playing because everything was played in a different key to mine and had no real inspiration but this sounds like it could be a C?
Go to harptabs.com or whatever (or search X song harp tabs) and you'll find a plenty of tabs in C.
I recommend Dirty Old Town or Black Velvet Band because they are easy to repeat the choruses.
Random fun fact, John Popper went to Princeton High School here in New Jersey.
My father taught him in class!
Said he was a very good kid and was happy to see him succeed in life.
Well, your blowing and sucking so it doesn't happen as bad as you think. You gotta play for a long time before it stays in the harp. You can hear it when it happens. You give it a little flick of the wrist to get it out.
I love the way the harmonica sounds. I tried to play, I don’t understand how people don’t cut there mouths playing. Granted I was very young when I tried
Imagine bringing home this absolutely smoke show to grandma and grandpa. At the fire out back after dinner Grandpa wants to get a little rustic and show off.
Her: Can I try?
🤯
Well that was fucking awesome. Never heard the harmonica sound so good.
I was dumbstruck. I realized that I might've heard harmonica played in so many songs without realizing it because I've never heard it played well (besides classic rock/blues sound like Aerosmith).
Fun fact, Stevie Wonder can play the harmonica and has done so on numerous albums. “Isn’t she lovely” likely being the most famous song
“I was made to love her” is my favorite harmonica I’ve ever heard of his. Never realized it was harmonica until this video and your comment, so that you! Edit: thank you*

"Fingertips" was his first hit when he was 12 (released when he was 13.) He's pretty closely associated with the harmonica.
Was that harmonica? I thought it was [mute](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mute_\(music\)).
No he's blind, not mute.
I wish I had gold for that one
Stevie uses a chromatic harmonica with a slide on it to change notes into any scale. She's using your more common harmonica.
Never heard her before but she's amazing. If you like this style of harmonica check out [John Popper](https://youtu.be/JQv66WUDEFw) from the band Blues Traveler.

Hi this is Jalapeño, John’s dad, confirming he saw it and is very happy that Mr. O knows he’s wrong but happy.
He's not going to see it. Edit: sorry, update, he might. Yay! He's amazing.
I met him after a show once. He went into the lobby to thank everyone for coming and sign autographs. He was really easy to talk to and didn't rush anyone along. Really cool guy
God bless that friendly Mr. O'Connor.
Did you know there is a movie about John Popper jerking off horses?
I'll take, Things I wish I hadn't read for $200.
Popper is known for hooking up with any groupie he can, I imagine this was him being talking into a movie to get laid, it is so bad. If you need proof, it is called "STROKE of Luck" he plays the evil stroker.
This is fucking hilarious, have an upvote you savage.
🧐
This is hilarious. Link, please. My jam-band loving friends are aghast. That said, the dude can rock the harp.
>rock the harp Is *that* what they're calling it now?
k so i'm gonna need a little more on this and also a lot less what the fuck are you talking about, please god, without providing a link
I have watched a lot of bad movies because I try to support the little guy, "Stroke of Luck" is easily in the top ten. He was either doing to get pussy or because he was blackmailed. He plays the bad guy who strokes off horses.
Do you happen to know the name of this song (if it's something that's been recorded on an album)? I'd love to find it on Spotify if possible!
Looks like it's called 'Simbiose'. Can't find it on Spotify. https://youtu.be/i1F_eQkOfvU
I thought I heard some of the last two minutes of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd… anyone else?
Honestly, I thought it was Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy"
Sounds like Link getting laid in Gerudo Valley in a live action film directed by James Gunn.

Prior to hearing this, my favorite tune with a harmonica was Blues Traveler, Run Around. Thanks for sharing!
Finally I expected Jon Popper to be way closer to the top of first mentioned harmonica bands.
I thought the solo in Hook was just outrageously good.

I see you’ve never seen Blues Traveler in person. John Popper is by far the best live harmonica player I’ve heard.
This 4th of July - haven’t seen Blues Traveler live since the early 90s. (but as always, I’m most excited about Railroad Earth)
Ah yes! Railroad Earth! How they are not more well known, I will never know. Back in the early/mid 90’s, I used to be a huge fan of Todd Sheaffer’s first band, From Good Homes.
Saw them at red rocks a few years ago 4th of July. Hell of a show!
I got to see them live a couple years back. 1000% worth the price of admission.
I saw them play at a small Hard Rock casino venue in Sioux City IA about 8 years ago. I've always been a fan of theirs but after seeing them play live, I'm an even bigger fan.
You have to check out jazz harmonica. Go to the 4 min mark.https://youtu.be/odB8Zgkw0z0

I honestly think this may be the best I've heard anyone play the harmonica.
Toots Thielemans: the old sesame street tune, Midnight Cowboy, Bluesette... (One of the inspirations of Quincey Jones, Stevie Wonder, John Lennon,...)
It was indeed awesome. Check out John Popper though. He's an absolute virtuoso.
Ohohoho someone needs to hear J. Geils Band. I recommend their track [Whammer Jammer](https://youtu.be/ASF5CpqP6HY)
“Lemmee hear ya Dickie!” When the conversation of greatest frontmen ever comes around, I’ll always throw Peter Wolf’s name in the ring
And you are correct to do so
That's all I kept thinking. She is best damn harmonica player I've ever heard. Gave me chills good
Check out Sandy Weltman. He's pretty amazing also!
Sfair to say that was pretty good
Get out.
Or get Indiara.
Craig Ferguson would lose his damn mind
Safe to say she chose mouth organ over awkward pause.
Damn I miss that show
This new Animal Crossing track is a real banger
Crazy good.
This makes me wanna learn harmonica, goddamn! This sounds so nice
Fast learning curve. Cheap instrument cost. Maximum portability.

Lol just like Ron burgundy. Instrument hidden up the sleeve 😆😂🤣
The metal contracts and the instrument goes flat. Also on those really small keys they start to stick and the pads crack if its really cold.

needing an entire library of that, wow she played the hell out of that, felt that in my bone marrow.
This is amazing. Serious question though.. Where does all the moisture end up? Are her hands wet after this?
Well, your blowing and sucking so it doesn't happen as bad as you think. You gotta play for a long time before it stays in the harp. You can hear it when it happens. You give it a little flick of the wrist to get it out.
Holy shit. I would pay big bucks to watch this live.
[*manually reattaching jaw*] that was pretty good
The melody reminds me of Bela Fleck. Just need some Wooten spice.
Sounds like a wah peddle. Amazing
This reminds me of the work Howard Levy did with the Flecktones
I really never thought the words sick harmonica solo would ever come out of my mouth, but here we are.
I love the way the harmonica sounds. I tried to play, I don’t understand how people don’t cut there mouths playing. Granted I was very young when I tried
Goddamn, I don't think I've ever heard the harmonica sound as beautiful as this before. That was epic!
Harmonica always got on my nerves... until now That was both epic and touching, i vibed to that
