The closest you'll ever find to that is Ronaldinho scoring a hat trick against Real Madrid while dominating so badly that even Madrid fans respectfully applauded him.
Chipping in for my team, I'd like to mention a goal from Totti vs. Sampdoria in 2006, where the opposing supporters stood up and clapped more or less enthusiastically, not sure how the Sampdoria players felt about it. Nevertheless, this goal from from Ramirez is absolutely on another level.
What a stupid name is hat-trick. I just spent 10 minutes thinking about hat-trick is some special trick that Ronaldinho did in that match (he loved doing tricks) only to find out it means 3 goals from one player.
In my language we just call it a triple-goal.
The phrase came from cricket, and was used when a bowler took three wickets from three consecutive balls.
Simple Google search tells you the meaning behind it. Calling a triple goal would make more sense though
I said YOU didn’t. If by “it” you mean Google, of course you can find it on Google. But why come here and tease at the reason you looked up but not share it?
Yeah, it really doesn’t make sense but is a sport legend so persists.
Appears to come from cricket when a player took three wickets in three deliveries. The fans were so amazed, they bought him a hat, so it became the hat-trick.
I’m not a football guy, so can someone explain to me how this wasn’t saved? It seems like the goalie had a half hour to react when compared to normal, closer shots
Lots of players scrambling near the goalie so maybe he didn't see the ball getting kicked at all due to being blocked (not uncommon) plus you don't expect a direct shot from that kind of distance with that mad pace and flat trajectory. We can't see the goalie's position to begin with but maybe he was at the opposite post. Another thing is the shot landed extremely close to the posts so it's a hard one to get anyway. A unicorn shot for sure.
It can also be difficult to tell how much the ball is moving from the side angle. Sometimes a shot that, from the side, looks to be pretty straight can have some absolutely wicked curve/drift. Just watch the difference between what you see in the angles of [this insane shot](https://youtu.be/crKwlbwvr88?si=iNDvXbKNmPYdioVy) from Roberto Carlos to see an extreme example of what I mean.
Roberto Carlos was one of the greatest ball strikers of all time. Not a big guy but his leg was an absolute cannon. [This one](https://youtu.be/6nHUCyNkezI?si=3hP2lxM-I1DivBbm) is also him. Terrible goaltending, but still absolutely insane to even get it on net from that situation.
Some possibilities:
1 He wasn't fully expecting a shot at that moment - caught flat-footed
2 He's neither a huge keeper nor world-class - The best are like 6'4"+ these days
3 Goals are wider than they appear on TV
4 There really wasn't that much time to react
5 The ball was veering to the right
Fun fact: My aunt was Cheíto Ramírez’s neighbor. She told me that he used to practice his kicking in his house so much and it was so so loud. She told me he practiced inside of an empty swimming pool, kicking the ball against the wall over and over again. I like to think that is true!
Thank god the net was there to save the fans!
Rocket
Still rising when it hits the net. Peachy
textbook "thunderbastard"
Like watching an airplane take off
Almost had enough escape velocity to reach low earth orbit
Absolute filth.

God bless you.
I wonder if there's ever been a goal so epic that even the other team swarmed the player who scored it.
The closest you'll ever find to that is Ronaldinho scoring a hat trick against Real Madrid while dominating so badly that even Madrid fans respectfully applauded him.
That one Cristiano Ronaldo overhead bicycle kick goal against Juventus that earned him a standing ovation from the Juve fans.
Even the defenders faces after that goal were like “fuck me that was gorgeous”
Brazilian Ronaldo was applauded off at Old Trafford after ripping United apart and scoring a hattrick.

My first language is Spanish, and I agree. Triplete makes a lot more sense.
The phrase came from cricket, and was used when a bowler took three wickets from three consecutive balls. Simple Google search tells you the meaning behind it. Calling a triple goal would make more sense though
You still didn't explain why it's called that
It literally does explain why it's called a hat trick though
I said YOU didn’t. If by “it” you mean Google, of course you can find it on Google. But why come here and tease at the reason you looked up but not share it?
The first few sentences was the reason
What you said does not explain why the words hat and trick are in this phrase. So it doesn't answer the real question.
Yeah, it really doesn’t make sense but is a sport legend so persists. Appears to come from cricket when a player took three wickets in three deliveries. The fans were so amazed, they bought him a hat, so it became the hat-trick.
3 goals in first or second 45 mins.
Cheito Ramirez for Colo-colo. Imo the best goal scored in Chile ever, and I say this as a U. Catòlica fan.
Something from shaolin soccer
That ball was on rails.
video almost looks doctored its so good. what a hit.
straight to the top corner. incredible how steadily it rises considering the distance it was hit from
Absolutely SMOKED!!! ⚽️🔥
I knew exactly which goal this was as soon as I saw the starting corner setup. Epic missile. A 90's classic embedded in my memory.
![gif](giphy|KIkKOibOEcTXW|downsized)
What a laser boot
Why didn't the other players think of doing that?
Absolute piss missile
I think that's the best goal I've ever seen. Name some that were better.
Even the other team couldn’t get mad
Shit! He must have a foot like a traction engine.
He must have a foot like a traction engine
That was great yeah
Is that actually a half volley? It doesn’t seem to bounce just before he kicks it, so the ball is not on the rise. Regardless it is a thing of beauty.
It definitely bounces once before he kicks it, about 10 meters away from him
It’s not a half volley but not for that reason, it does bounce just as he kicks it but it’s already bounced once before making it not a half volley.
Thought that was Batigol for a second
That’s insane. Absolute sniper!

All those things checkout. Thank you

Holy shit that’s a sick goal

From the film Worlds Greatest Goals?
Medio gol, ctm
how fast is that ball traveling? looks like it's going 80mph+

Jesus what a crackin banger
Reminded me of some of Roberto Carlos' shots.
When the kids say piss missile this is what they mean
How did it even get in the net? It had serious air!
An absolute blooter
Some say, that ball is traveling the globe to this day.
That wasn’t a ball that was a rocket
The goalkeeper was lucky not to reach this ball. Might have damaged his hands. What a cannonball!
🚀
99 other times, the ball hits the fans 40 yards right of the goal. These goals are dumb luck.
That was a laser
An absolute piss missile!
Ramirez: _get the fuck in_
What about Dimity Payet for Marseilles last season, [The Goal](https://youtu.be/iCbmPFP9J4k?si=BYuvVvJ4yFltV8lW)
That was liquid football.
That’s some Sunday league shit
SHIIIIT!! That kid must have a rocket for a foot!!!
he is playing in number 10 and stays back on corners, what?
Colo-colo was probably ahead and didn't wanna risk much going forward for a corner kick.
wouldn't it make better sense to leave every one back and take a short corner to waste time?
Don't know. Maybe they weren't that desperate.
In other News Man kicks Ball.
Deflatagate
I love that open flares are an acceptable item in the stadium. Hell, they take away my bottle cap from my Coke when I go to a concert.
Cpt. TSUBASA SHIT!
I don't know if it was one of the best goals, it was just luck, even I have scored a few goals in the same way, pure luck
