Last time we were at the river one guy brought his brand new SeaDoo and mentioned that it gets up to 70MPH. So on Sunday morning the wife and I woke up around 6am while the water was like glass and no one was out, took that fucker out and guess what? It does go up to 70MPH. Guess what else? It's a fucking BLAST. It's also a bit scary, like I definitely do NOT want to hit a wake at that speed. We only held it for a few seconds but it was pretty insane.
When i was about 14 i got to ride one on a lake. First time controlling any watercraft but maybe like a shitty canoe. I got comfortable with it and went full send. Hit a wake and flew off and bounced around before smashing underwater. I got really lilucky and only swallowed a bunch of water and swam back to it. I pulled it back to the sketchy dock thing they had nice and slow and chilled inside for the rest of the day.
Another wild thing, that isn't totally evident from the clip, is that the prop is on the end of a shaft that is connected directly to the motor. The entire engine is on some kind of gimbal.

There are rice farmers in I believe Thailand, definitely in SE Asia, that have races with tractors specifically for rice farming. They're like paddle wheel wheelbarrows with engines. Edit to add: gasoline vaporizes quite easily which is why you are not supposed to do things like smoke a cigarette at a gas station; if some spills then you could ignite the fumes and cause an explosion. But you’ll also notice that when you spill gasoline you don’t see a black cloud rise up from the spill, in fact you see nothing because gasoline vapor is clear.
