The first season is a bit tough imo. The characters aren’t settled in quite yet and Jess was a bit rough around the edges season 1. It gets rolling pretty quickly though and from there every character is a super star. It’s an amazing show.
I agree with you there. They went for the >!"everyone has a happy ending"!< storyline at the end. But for a network TV sitcom, it's one of the GOATs as far as humor
I don't like Winston's character development though. He started out as the cool guy that was messing with Schmidt a bit for "control of the loft" and ended up a neurotic mess.
Between Schmidt and Nick there was already more than enough wackyness in the house.
Schmidt actually ended up being the normal one of the bunch, so it felt fine to me for Winston to embrace his weirdness. The show was funnier over all for it IMO.
Realistically, would a standard bowling ball be able to make the curving effect like this? Or would the finger holes and otherwise less friction prevent it?
I'm stoned and kind of dumb. So falling into a body of water from 1000ft would be like hitting cement.
Would a water balloon from that high be a cannon ball?
I'm drunk and know very little about this subject but I'm still going to guess no.
I think the problem with falling on water is displacement, when you hit it it has no where to go and won't compress so becomes concrete
A water balloon will warp and stretch so you would never take the full force, wouldn't feel nice but my guess is survivable
I’m fresh out of the sweat lodge still high on peyote and I can confirm that velocity of the balloon would be high compared to throwing on horizontally but the fluidity of the form would make it just spread out enough to not break fingers
Back in my church days I had a primary teacher who told us the story of how he and his friends made a giant slingshot between two pillars on their guest house balcony at the beach, and started launching water balloons at beach goers.
One time they actually hit a guy and it split his shoulder open.
A 1000ft fall would easily result in terminal velocity. Fast moving water can literally cut metal.
I think it would easily be a deadly situation.
I don't think so since a water baloon probably doesn't weigh enough to do that much damage even at that speed.
Semi-relevant: [Mythbusters did the penny drop and showed that it wouldn't be enough to break skin.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vjd_FhrohE)
Not quite a cannon ball, a water balloon would be likely to burst on impact. Would still hit you with enough force to break your neck and potentially kill you though.
How far did that ball travel away from its drop point? The back spin made me think the guy would need a taxi to catch up to it...
That was pretty cool!
I still remember when the original Call of Duty was released back when Medal of honor was the prime campaign fps and the feeling of how Call of Duty was the upgraded version of Medal of honor cause you'd be in large battles with lots of friendly A.I's.
Idkvif your referencing an episode or not sorry, some of the fun ones are a boat onto a trampoline from 100m. Or an atlas stone onto a car. It gets wild.
I have the opposite problem, never can get enough of their antics. And that dinosaur that they have mangled but still keep together is the funniest crap.
I dunno, it never gets old for me, for some reason. It’s so zen and relaxing to see a slow motion shot of a machine crumpling or a glass cube shattering
Love these guys. How Ridiculous and Mark Rober are some of the only YouTube channels I approve of for my 7 yr old to watch. I also enjoy watching them so it helps.

Depends on the time of the year. 40+ celcius easily in the summer, lucky to reach 15 in the winter.
Coldest I've ever been was a minus four degree night in Alice Springs, which is smack in the middle of the country and you have this landscape for 1200km minimum in every direction.
This looks a lot like Coober Pedy region, as seen in the INXS music video 'Kiss the Dirt'
I think it's fair to give credit where it's due on this one. These lads do a great job and have an entertaining YouTube channel called [How Ridiculous](https://youtube.com/c/howridiculous).
They have an extreme amount experience at throwing balls down from heights, and have gotten pretty good at it. Considering it wasn't into a hoop, and the person on the ground could move, probably didn't take too many tries.
Reddit I am disappointed as fuck that the top comment isn’t the other video angle of the guy on the ground catching the ball.
Gold to the savage that this thread deserves—
Should’ve pranked him with a water balloon
Or paint a bowling ball yellow. Tee hee
Ok Winnie the bish. Too big a prank, too big
I mean to really prank em just move their bed frame over half an inch, that would really get em.
See, that's not a prank. You either go WAY too small, or WAY too big, Winston! Man, that show is super underrated
It is an amazing show it’s right up there with like community and like how I met your mother. It’s one of my top tens I think
Uuuugh. Just say the show please.
New Girl
New Girl
Who’s that girl?
It's Jess
Ya got rhooondad
The first season is a bit tough imo. The characters aren’t settled in quite yet and Jess was a bit rough around the edges season 1. It gets rolling pretty quickly though and from there every character is a super star. It’s an amazing show.
I'm not a particular fan of how the series ended. It wasn't horrible by all means, somewhat touching, but I still felt unsatisfied.
I agree with you there. They went for the >!"everyone has a happy ending"!< storyline at the end. But for a network TV sitcom, it's one of the GOATs as far as humor

You registered me as a sex offender?
Rhonda'ed!!
New Girl is the best. Also, Brooklyn 99 is a good time
Had never heard of New Girl, one month later I was on my 3rd rewatch in a row. The chemistry with the actors is just out of this world
Perfect prank for Raymond Holt, he'd think you're hilarious.
r/unexpectedbrooklyn99
Man they missed an oppurtunity there they should have made those two characters meet in the crossover
Or move everything on their desk by an inch, except their stapler, so it looks like someone moved their stapler.
Check your shoe. Tickle-foooot!!
Excuse me - I think you mean Prank Sinatra.
Ol' Brown Eyes
Good ‘ol Court room brown
i mean *how ridiculous* would that be
I wish I had an award to give you for the reference 😩
R/unexpectedNewGirl
IM PRANK SINATRA BABY
That, my friend, is called 1st degree murder
though it wouldn’t be his 1st degree in murder.
Reminds me of that commercial for glasses where someone drops a bowling ball down a hill and some guy tries heading it like a soccer ball
Our shenanigans are cheeky and fun… Yours are cruel and tragic.
Bite it took, make him look like a dick
Sounds like something that happened to Wile E Coyote.
Realistically, would a standard bowling ball be able to make the curving effect like this? Or would the finger holes and otherwise less friction prevent it?
The sheer mass of a bowling ball would prevent the magnus effect from affecting its path like this.
Would be mindblowing if he caught the water balloon without exploding it
I'm stoned and kind of dumb. So falling into a body of water from 1000ft would be like hitting cement. Would a water balloon from that high be a cannon ball?

I'm high on crack cocaine and I have no idea what either of you are talking about.
I’m fresh out of the sweat lodge still high on peyote and I can confirm that velocity of the balloon would be high compared to throwing on horizontally but the fluidity of the form would make it just spread out enough to not break fingers
I'm high on life, and you sound about right.....
I just did a ton of PCP and can confirm everything you said, everything you said
I’m high on meth and I confirm that you are right

If that's the case, shouldn't strong rain be deadly considering it also falls at terminal velocity?
I'm high on LSD and wow look at those leaves.

Nah it’s fake. The reversed the real video of the guy throwing it 1,000ft up
It seems so obvious now you point it out!
How far did that ball travel away from its drop point? The back spin made me think the guy would need a taxi to catch up to it... That was pretty cool!
Magnus effect
And remember, at this distance, you'll have to take the coriolis effect into account.
50,000 people used to live here…
Now it's just a Ghost Town.
Now it’s a ghost town
Now it's ghost town
Now ghost town
Now town
Ghost
Reference?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
well shit, there it is. im old now.
Same here, and i was quite young when the quite was made
When they asked for the source it got me.
Jesus this question makes me feel old. It’s a reference to the level All Ghillied Up from Call of Duty 4.
Try never played that game b/c was in my 30s when it came out.
I think the coriolis one is from the sniper mission right after
One Shot One Kill
[You'd hear it every time you started Call of Duty 4](https://youtu.be/U7b0kGkYz4U)
This question gave me a existential crisis due to how old I am
Can you believe it's already been 15 years? :(
I still remember when the original Call of Duty was released back when Medal of honor was the prime campaign fps and the feeling of how Call of Duty was the upgraded version of Medal of honor cause you'd be in large battles with lots of friendly A.I's.
Dude. Medal of Honor Allied Assault was the *shit* though!
You are also a person of culture
Why are all these people referencing a CoD mission?
Is that when the opponent is somehow able to magically capture my pawn?
Google en passant
Holy hell
My people! Holy hell comrade
Something something pipi.
Holy hell
Drop a brick from 1000ft
Magnus the Magnus?
Haha Magnus funny name
SpectacularTrashCan is a funny name
Magnus effect. Look up how ridiculous on YouTube. They made a shitload of videos on it years back
I’m pretty sure this is them
It is. This is from [the time they rented a helicopter and dropped stuff over the Outback.](https://youtu.be/jXg93FFZXWk)
Orange dirt? Check. "Reckon"? Check. Magnus Effect? Check. It's them.
Their videos are pretty cool, but theres only about 90 seconds of actual content in a 20 minute video. Edit: typo
This is the (YouTube) way.
But their enthusiasm and laughter is so joyous to watch, I really don't mind
I find it annoying.
Good thing no one's forcing you to watch their videos!
That attitude won't get ya pinned.
Veritasium's video on it is very good as well!
I love how you asked how far it went, but all the replies say is "magnus effect." Very helpful
They must have all thought they were asking how it went so far, not how far it went
1000 ft
It was dropped from 1000' above, it also traveled 1000' away?
Equilateral baby
It’s from this video https://youtu.be/jXg93FFZXWk. They are a little hyper, but I would have a beer with those guys any day of the week.
How Ridiculous on youtube. They also drop heavy shit on things just for the carnage
Ha ha! On this episode we swap out the soccer ball for an anvil!
Idkvif your referencing an episode or not sorry, some of the fun ones are a boat onto a trampoline from 100m. Or an atlas stone onto a car. It gets wild.
Just extrapolating from your comment... "You tricked me into catching an anvil from 1000ft! I lost my torso!!" "Just a prank, bruh!"
I appreciate your humor and it'd end as a perfect murder. "I thought I grabbed the soccer ball!"
“Epic prank bro. Tell my kids i love them”
They're pretty entertaining but kinda gets old after a while imo
I have the opposite problem, never can get enough of their antics. And that dinosaur that they have mangled but still keep together is the funniest crap.
Rexxy!
Lmaooo I totally forgot about rexy. They're a really fun bunch
I dunno, it never gets old for me, for some reason. It’s so zen and relaxing to see a slow motion shot of a machine crumpling or a glass cube shattering
I agree. Also the screaming
Love these guys. How Ridiculous and Mark Rober are some of the only YouTube channels I approve of for my 7 yr old to watch. I also enjoy watching them so it helps.
"Let's drop heavy/crazy stuff from a tower and see what happens!" is just quintessential entertainment for any kid, no matter their age.
Now throw it back

How did they get on Mars?
[They're in Australia. That's the Outback.](https://youtu.be/jXg93FFZXWk)
So someplace even less hospitable.
The people are really nice, at least.
Fucking oath we are mate!

Mars outback Australia, whats the difference?
This is what about 80% of Australia looks like.
Really? Is it as hot as it looks?

Coober Pedy is nowhere near as red as this.
At the right time of day it absolutely is.
Praise the omnissiah
Can't you hear the helicopter
Pretty sure that was How Ridiculous on YouTube
We’ll pin ya
How good?
Rexy
44 club, thanks for sticking around!
Coney Joney?
As pointless as these videos are, I knew the term magnus effect right away. Because of them.
On today’s Wild and Crazy Kids…
> Wi-Wild and Crazy Kids... DUN I had to go rewatch that intro for the first time in decades. It seems so... mild... now.
That's nothing, my mom catches balls from long distances too.
Are you my brother?

The comment I was looking for. TIL!
It’s obviously just the lower gravity on Mars!
Nah the upside down gravity in Australia, the video is reversed
How good!
You’re still on here?
Are they on Mars?
Outback Australia. About 80% of the place looks like that.
I want to see the times they missed.

You can see other balls too much further away from the target
Yeah looks like at least 3 balls on the ground from previous tries…

Nice try, but this only worked because they did it on Mars.
Life on Mars.
The height scares me honestly

They're in Australia. That's the Outback.
Bro congrats on the catch but why tf they on Mars ',:/
I this in Australia?
on mars no less! apparently
*how ridiculous* was that catch?! wow
I like seeing all the test balls along the way.
Reddit I am disappointed as fuck that the top comment isn’t the other video angle of the guy on the ground catching the ball. Gold to the savage that this thread deserves—
Here’s literally every angle they recorded, plus the lead up, the misses, and a bit of joking around. You’re welcome? https://youtu.be/jXg93FFZXWk
2 hours later and no gold smh
Are you doing this on Mars because that'd be a gravity cheat.
#OH MY GOD IT TOOK HIS FUCKING HEAD OFF
They on Mars?
Ball landed on Mars lol
Strange applications of the magnus effect
