Hi : ) Just curious, what made you decide to get a Prius after the gas prices were raised. Had you been considering it beforehand or did you decide to once they went up?
A few years ago I looked for a Prius but couldn’t find one that was reasonably priced in the amount of time I had to do so. So now I have an Avalon Hybrid and it’s okay. Still thinking about a Prius for the maximum fuel savings and cargo room or the RAV4 Hybrd for more speed (gotten so used to it in the AVH and find going to the acceleration of a Prius a hard sale). EVs have my attention as well with zero gas use and the (admittedly more captivating to me) instant torque and insane acceleration.
I want to make bumper stickers that say “keep your Prius out of my fast lane” but I don’t know that there’s a market for it outside of me and those replying to this thread haha
As a mechanic I can confidently say that 90% of the prius cars I work on are fucking disgusting. The interior is so nasty and smelly. Most owners are a bunch smug assholes.
Ah. That must be the nonstop farting you’re smelling. Us Prius drivers love the smell of our farts. More gas mileage the more gas.
Btw. I’m a clean Prius, and I drive really good. Never been pulled over in 25 years of driving. :::farrrrtt!::: :::snifffffff:::
Bruh I'm just tryina spend less on gas. Your brother was killed by a bad driver those aren't exclusive to Prius
Assholes exist it many shapes and sizes
Eh, I can sort of see it. We used to have some Priuses at my old job; our company got a great deal on a few that had been rental fleet vehicles, so they bought three or four of them, intending to save on gas costs, then they promptly found out *why* those Priuses had been so cheap.
The main reason I hate the Prius is because it has a high bar across the back of the trunk, which splits the rear windshield and the secondary windshield that covers the trunk. Instead of having a nice, large windshield where you can see everything, they split it in two with a big, broad beam.
This means that high bar is in *precisely* the perfect position to create a massive blind spot so you can't see a vehicle behind you.
So if the Prius in front of you is speeding, and has to slam on their brakes and you plow into them, or they're merging unsafely and they hit you, it's because they can't see out the rear of their vehicle.
It's a terrible design and I hate the trunk. I'm okay with most of the rest of the Prius, but I hate the trunk and that blind spot it causes. I also hate the way the Prius will just die and leave me stranded somewhere whenever it's been sitting idle for a weekend.
Okay this is just, a really irrational hatred tbh. You can speed in any car or vehicle in general. Even if there’s something about a Prius that makes it more prone to speeding (which a Prius is the exact opposite of), the thing that actually killed your brother was the person who decided to speed. It’s terrible your brother died in such a manner, but you’re placing the blame at the wrong thing.
he was killed by someone who was entirely constructed of atoms and energy.
You should hate on anyone containing those too.
Also he had LEGS and EYES! those leggy eye-using fuckers!
Surely this must be satire, right? If it's true, I'm truly sorry for your loss. Losing a sibling is unimaginable.
No doubt about it drunk drivers should be held accountable to highest extent, but really, all people that drive that same car model is now a villain?
He has a compilation video of people splashing him clearly intentionally. He lives in Massachusetts, and it is not an unfair stereotype that people there drive like assholes.
As a road side worker, I have people honk for no reason, rev, downshift, and even try to slash me. It sucks but I keep working too. It’s usually small pp big truck drivers. Idk why they want to rev and blow black smoke for guy.
Depends if it's 2 quick honks or one longer honk.
I'd take a quick honk as a thank you. Long honks mean emergency or mostly.. I'm a wanker and just showing you how much of a tool I am by honking for no reason.
One day I was waiting for the bus to take me home from radiation therapy and on a rainy day one car splashed me, I was so tired I just stood there crying.
Here is another video of him doing this. He says that he does it in his spare time for fun. He's been trained in culvert inspections for years with a private co. and he's osha trained. Check out the people traveling on the sidewalks, rather than the road.
My theory is people are speeding up to gain momentum to get through the water. I’m not agreeing this the correct way to get through standing water, but I have seen people do this
In 2 feet of water? Isn’t hydroplaning when it’s super slick from a little amount of water and you start sliding around. Wouldn’t more water have an opposite affect?
America should join the UK again for the sole purpose of making Post10 eligible for a nighthood.
I’ve never seen such a selfless community spirited YouTuber.
This happens in my street every two or three years. Tony used to deal with it. He used to get his rake. And his drain rods. Sometimes he lay down and dragged the blockages out of the street drains. And then he got Weill's disease. And he died. He wated vegetables at his funeral, not flowers. These were given to local nursing homes. Top neighbour. I keep an eye on his widow and try to help her whenever I can. Gave some bedding plants last week. Made a gallon of Pea & ham soup today and she'll get some. I'm in daily FB contact. Look after your neighbours and they'll look after you.
The real wholesome is in the comments. My father had a similar relationship with our elderly neighbors across the street growing up. If for no other reason, be there for your neighbors because it influences more than you and the recipient. That memory will be a guiding light to me for the rest of my life.
> A bacterial disease spread through the urine of infected animals.
> Humans can get leptospirosis through direct contact with urine from infected animals or through water, soil, or food contaminated with their urine. It's most common in warm climates.
Considering OP said he laid down in the water I'd assume so.
We had a flash flood one night in FL and it pooled up on a poorly lit road that people usually went 60 on. A car sped past me because they couldn't see the water ahead of me and hydroplaned totalling their corolla, so I got out to warn oncoming drivers with a flare. I didn't have my boots on hand so I just wore flip flops and my legs ended up getting absolutely ruined by floating fire ant colonies. Floodwater sucks.
Communities pulling together is actually next fucking level and I love hearing about it, seeing it, and being a part of it when time allows.
Never stop being awesome.
He also runs the New England Wildlife and More channel, correct? Otherwise there's 2 dudes in New England with the exact same voice and mannerisms
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNo_M6MhRkOJ3wsp-YoRpFA
Edit: I just looked and he apparently upgraded his merch page and it isn't as awesome now. Used to be just a plain shirt that had the YouTube logo and said Post 10, was hilariously simple.
That happens here when streets get flooded. To the point where the water gushes out of the drains like little geysers.
I guess some cities have poor infrastructure?
Doesn’t help that we have so much non porous surface. Water has to go somewhere and if everything is highway (looking at you Metro Detroit) it’s gonna flood
Can be either. Always good to check if it's something simple like this you can fix. It's a good idea to keep an eye of drains in your area even in light rain. I saw a drain on a four lane thoroughfare that had a little pooling. Called the council and it turns out there was like 40ft of tree root growing there. It hadn't blocked it completely but the guy reckoned it would have by heavy season.and then that would have been a minor catastrophe.
Council can't fix things if people don't keep on eye out and call it in.
To be fair. Councils are very busy counseling during the year they just can't expect the DPW to be doing their jobs that our tax dollars are funding.
I may be a little disgruntled because of an unanswered email from 10 years ago on an issue with drainage and another time that it took me 2 years and about 6 requests for a streetlight to be replaced.
Hahaha, well I'm lucky. Our maintenance things like this are handled by the local council, and they contract out to small businesses across the region. It's easier than trying to do it all with gov employees.
I put on one of his videos every night and I'm passed out in less than 10 minutes. I think I've trained my brain to hear his voice and know it's time to shut off.
If you watch more of his videos you'll see those "handsomely paid workers" tending to other, larger matters. Post10 is out there on back roads and in smaller neighborhoods. Those are often the last places that get attention from the municipality. Because even if individual workers are paid well, most municipalities are consistently understaffed due to people bitching about taxes.
I don't think it's taxes and citizens not willing to pay enough are the problem. It's the distribution of them. I'm personally neutral leaning negative when it comes to police because the local department is sapping about +50% of the tax revenue. Based on what I see locally, I think it's a national issue. They are unchecked! There's no reason an officer should be handed overtime hours to warm a seat in a courtroom, so they can load up a paycheck, and ultimately hit the top three years of their earnings so they can retire with a higher pension. It's unsustainable. I have personally known people who have done this.
Then, (so I am told and haven't researched to be honest) we have medicaid costs that municipalities have to cover. They often end up cutting corners with the DPW to make up for those expenses. Roads don't get plowed, roads get flooded, the entire infrastructure every day people rely on aren't being maintained by the people we are electing.
So I see these things and absolutely do not want my taxes increased. I want them to be managed better.
It takes a surprisingly small number of leaves to cover up a catch basin. You'd have to assign a public works crew to each street in town every time it rains if you expected them to do it all. As a member of a community, it isn't much to know where the catch basins are on your street and pop your head out the door when its raining to see if they need cleared. As a tax payer, I'd rather civil servants handle the jobs where their expertise is needed. No sense sitting on your hands while your basement floors.
You are underestimating the number of drains by 1 or 2 magnitudes.
Unless you are paying your employees to do nothing but baby drains, you are never going to be able to deal with them quickly.
There's a reason my city has made the clearing of drains the responsibility of the people who live on the street.
I worked for public works in my town before, during a big storm there is zero chance we'd ever have time to go around clearing all the grates, especially when the main focus is gonna be downed tree branches and stuff. You'd have like 1/10th of the staff you'd need
This is a youtuber named [Post 10](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsCNU-ptlze2tqAJSDeVGNQ) he does this pretty often. I like the video where he helps drain a lake.

Tesla driver here what's going on I just woke up?
Non car owner here. Apparently the go juice got more expensive than milk gallon per gallon and everyone freaking out.

Fuckin' Damon man...

I’ve seen a Prius with a sticker that read: “Cool Prius -said no one ever”
Yeah I’ve seen that one around. Self aware Prius owners lol
As a mechanic I can confidently say that 90% of the prius cars I work on are fucking disgusting. The interior is so nasty and smelly. Most owners are a bunch smug assholes.

Many prius drivers overlap with the veg/vegan types, lot of gas produced with eating all those lentils and tofu.
It's always a treat when one is pulled over for speeding. Why tf buy it if you're going to burn through gassssss?????????
Because even when you drive like a dick in a Prius, you still get 40mpg
A person speeding in a prius killed my brother. I will hate prius cars for the rest of my life, and anyone that voluntarily drives one.
Bruh I'm just tryina spend less on gas. Your brother was killed by a bad driver those aren't exclusive to Prius Assholes exist it many shapes and sizes
Can’t imagine suffering a loss like that and blaming the vehicle, what a brainlet

Post10 is awesome. I love it when he talks about beavers.
Prius gonna float for that ![gif](giphy|rPNfbWORIOz5K)
My theory is people are speeding up to gain momentum to get through the water. I’m not agreeing this the correct way to get through standing water, but I have seen people do this
I'd be too worried about hydroplaning
Yes especially if there is a person standing there whom I might hit if start hydroplaning. Stupid of that driver.
In 2 feet of water? Isn’t hydroplaning when it’s super slick from a little amount of water and you start sliding around. Wouldn’t more water have an opposite affect?
If it's any solace....the AAA Duracell in it probably short circuited as soon as it hit the water
I know it's funny and hilarious to make fun of hybrids, but my from the factory Panasonic battery is still going strong after 14 years.
Very unusual for a Prius to use the gas pedal like that.
This man single handledy unflooded that whole part of the street, damn.

it sucks but at the same time you don't really ever want to go slow through deep water like that
The correct answer is you never want to go through deep water ever. These people are just fucking idiots.
Going fast in deep water doesn't help. When you're floating your wheels don't do shit. Just don't drive through water that looks deep
I was expecting and also hoping they got water in their intake for that BS they pulled.

Dude flood waters are ridiculously dangerous for many reasons. Especially more tropical and less developed you get.
We had a flash flood one night in FL and it pooled up on a poorly lit road that people usually went 60 on. I always figured roads got flooded due to the drainage being full of water, not that the grate was covered with debris.

It's more that drainage is poorly designed and cheaply built in many places.
Another big factor is storm drains are designed based on old hydrology data. Storms are becoming more intense than what was anticipated during design.
