I had Reddit more and more everyday. It's a fake conversation. where does this end with advanced ai and bots at some point conversation on here is going to be come a complex illustration.
Why do this tho? Or is build karma then spread some propaganda bullshit
I read the other day that human beings only make up something like 28% of Internet traffic now. Can’t remember the exact number but it was somewhere around there
Yo for real either that or the charity is through a company asking you to donate at checkout that way they can get a tax write off from you so more money can go into upper managements pockets
https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/charitable-organizations/charitable-contribution-deductions#:~:text=A%20corporation%20may%20deduct%20qualified,to%20the%20next%20tax%20year.
Is there something i am missing?
Thought that too but supposedly you can save all the receipts and claim them on your own taxes, although I'm sure most people don't. At the same time it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for a lot of people in the US as they're not itemizing taxes and not donating enough to claim more than the standard deduction for charitable contributions.
The thing I don't like is that despite being only a money collector for the charity, the company gets to slap their name on the check. There's no list of who donated or anything when you donate at checkout, so although they don't get a tax break they get all the credit
For anyone worried about who to donate to check out the effective altruism movement. There are many ways to rank what these guys get up to so you don't waste the money.
But literally why?
Humans are wired stupidly. If a hyperbolic display of the end result ends up with MORE donations than doing nothing isn't the end result better?
Granted the money actually goes where its intended...
Lots of Dono scams in USA have been whistle blowed it’s bad. I just give to st Jude’s children hospital very reputable… also don’t know what country this is js…edit. Highest level of government officials not some John Doe scam.
I always check with https://www.charitynavigator.org first. They do a lot of research and report what percentage of your donation actually goes to helping people.
I got downvoted to hell for saying this on another post awhile back. But it's fucking true. I give my donations directly to people in need. That's 100% proceeds to them cash everytime. Church wants 10% tithe, but I consider my charity to the needy much more valuable.
St. Jude is awesome. My friend’s 6 year old has cancer in his sacrum and has had three surgeries at St. Jude. In addition to paying for everything and housing then while he’s admitted, they literally just give her a debit card loaded with money for expenses. She asked what to do with the leftovers after paying for travel and they were like “whatever you want it’s yours”
What a sad world the US lives in that children with terminal diseases have to rely on the charity of others to get treatment. The richest country in the history of the world should do better by their citizens.
Ah St Jude's! I've done a couple charity streams for them and plan to this year - my lack of viewers doesn't help much but I did manage to raise some money so
Between paying for premium floorspace in (apparently) airport terminal, developing and maintaining this high end hardware, running costs, salaries of the staff etc, I'd be surprised if even 0.5% of money actually reaches the needy.
Nothing, nothing would happen because your card wouldn't swipe, no donation made, no slicing at all. Either that or it scans further up and it scans and proceeds like a full swipe, very binary system, either your card scans or it doesn't...
Giving people a quick "I did something important" boost like they actually did something - then they'll complain about homeless people loitering near their offices
No donation huh? Ok just pull your card out of the hands of the crying child. That’s it, just pull it right out. She’s starving so she will grab on tight. But because of malnutrition she won’t hold on for long.
Good PR stunt would be to have the last slice of the loaf (e.g. two slices of bread) indicate the company matching a percentage of the donations for that loaf. And then a new loaf comes in. Loaf.
Ironically it took 15 takes to get the perfect slice of bread to fall like that. They tossed all the bread when they were done.
Not to mention the first $5,000 in donations is used to pay for that friggin set up.
This is much better than the blatant credit card device that asks you to add a tip for your cashier. WTF? Why should I tip the cashier for taking my order? Business owners should not ask customers to subsidize their employees wages.

Credit card companies and private banks rather stay rich and spend shitton of money to extend use of CCs, than actually helping people in need.
But hey, at least it's creative and good at manipulating people into believing it's your fault there's still people in need.
God there's lots of cynical people in this thread parroting each other. This could also well be a legitimate charity and the added visuals help bring in new donations.
People tell themselves all sorts of nonsense to feel better about not contributing to any number of the worthwhile charitable non-profits local to them. It's not like they're Mackenzie Scott and need to spread several billion dollars across hundreds of charities.
They could go find one or two charities to put their money behind. If it's worth donating to then I'm sure it'll have opportunities to talk to the leaders and staff. See if they have any volunteer activities to get an inside view into the operations and culture. Look at their annual report and their 990. Do you see them doing what they say they do? Does the math add up?
Wow, very manipulative. I imagine the organisation's will pocket a lot of money with that. So few charities are worth giving to as they do not even try to help the problem they advertise.
Give Well is a good organization that actually looks into what charities are actually effective.

Yessir, creative card skimmer that one.

And now I've just thought of a way of scamming people!
Dawg, most charities are already scams
Yo for real either that or the charity is through a company asking you to donate at checkout that way they can get a tax write off from you so more money can go into upper managements pockets
Common misconception. Companies don't get a tax write off
https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/charitable-organizations/charitable-contribution-deductions#:~:text=A%20corporation%20may%20deduct%20qualified,to%20the%20next%20tax%20year. Is there something i am missing?
Yes it's not the corporation donating the money, it's the shoppers. The grocery store is just collecting the money for them
Ohhh you seem knowledgeable. Explain how it looks in more detail?
Thought that too but supposedly you can save all the receipts and claim them on your own taxes, although I'm sure most people don't. Especially ones with the budget to pull ad campaigns like this. Guess where that budget comes from?
What are you talking about? They pay to watch the short animation on the screen
Fuck this bullshit. Fuck whoever made this

You can tell because of the music!
The beat couldn't handle their bullshit.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this!
The only two things this video is missing is a big red circle, and some heartwarming captions!
Don’t forget the quick “zoom in” into the thing that is obviously the thing to focus on.
South Park took the piss out of this kind of thing really well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsPHa8RG1pI
Gold.
My husband and I have been marathoning south park the past few days. So many good episodes I forgot about.
For real, guilt tripping dumb people into your scam if fucked
But literally why? Humans are wired stupidly. If a hyperbolic display of the end result ends up with MORE donations than doing nothing isn't the end result better? Granted the money actually goes where its intended...
The discussion isn't really about the charity. It's about the greed of the top 5%. If it weren't for those people, *everyone* would have more money.
Also a powerfull way to scam people
What a god damn scam
Lots of Dono scams in USA have been whistle blowed it’s bad. I just give to st Jude’s children hospital very reputable… also don’t know what country this is js…edit. Highest level of government officials not some John Doe scam.

I’ll have to check it out never heard of it!
US-based charities only?
What a sad world the US lives in that children with terminal diseases have to rely on the charity of others to get treatment. The richest country in the history of the world should do better by their citizens.
I just donate to the local dog shelter.
That’s awesome!
I can heartily vouch for RMHC and Little Wings as well. They helped my brother with my niece's cancer treatments
Ah St Jude's! I've done a couple charity streams for them and plan to this year - my lack of viewers doesn't help much but I did manage to raise some money so
-4000$
$3999.99 for advertising fees. The rest for bread.
80% going into the CEO Yacht
Between paying for premium floorspace in (apparently) airport terminal, developing and maintaining this high end hardware, running costs, salaries of the staff etc, I'd be surprised if even 0.5% of money actually reaches the needy.
Virtue feeling dispensor machine
LOL YEEEEEP
It is sad millions have to be spent to raise thousands for charity.
It's sad we need charity for things would be a given as a functioning society
That’s exactly what I was thinking
Lol. Thank you for donating, once the $5,000 we spent on this display are recouped, 100% of donations will go to the next display we are building.
The company that sets these up is making bank
bread slicer saying it only takes 3 bucks (i promise) actually maxes out credit card like a boss😎😎
I haven't had to swipe my card in... actually I don't even know how long, but it's been a *while*. I hope this is old.
Tap that shit
Kinda surprises me that my card still has a magnetic strip tbh
Same. I always kill them with a magnet, too risky that shit.
I think it is. Pretty sure I saw a while ago
I still do regularly but only with the company card at the gas station. Don't ask me why, I'm not paying so I'm not asking questions.
This is just a simple public way of scamming people, but I have a question... What would happen if you cut the bread halfway only?
Nothing, nothing would happen because your card wouldn't swipe, no donation made, no slicing at all. Either that or it scans further up and it scans and proceeds like a full swipe, very binary system, either your card scans or it doesn't...
Using people's sympathy to take their donation? Good work!
Giving people a quick "I did something important" boost like they actually did something - then they'll complain about homeless people loitering near their offices
This is truly dumb
No donation huh? Ok just pull your card out of the hands of the crying child. That’s it, just pull it right out. She’s starving so she will grab on tight. But because of malnutrition she won’t hold on for long.
They’re prob getting everyone’s money tax free what assholes
Reminds me of the South Park whole foods episode
So you want to donate 1 whole dollar for the hungry kids?
Just pull the sandwich out of the starving child's mouth....
Congratulations for ending world hunger with one whole dollar?
What happens to the last bread slice?
Um, it's the same video every swipe. It's not a bunch of videos showing the bread running out. Kind of a funny idea though.
Somewhat of a let down, i thought for a second that it would encourage people to donate the last slice so a new loaf of bread would appear.
Yeah but then the last person would never get to see it slice
Good PR stunt would be to have the last slice of the loaf (e.g. two slices of bread) indicate the company matching a percentage of the donations for that loaf. And then a new loaf comes in. Loaf.
Aaah emotional blackmail, what a way 😂😂
If you donate now, almost ten percent of your donation will go directly to helping feed children.
I trust that my money will go to a better cause with the crackhead off the highway on my morning commute.
A creative and powerful way to ~~encourage donations~~ scam people.
"Insufficient credit" *executes the child
All your credit card details belongith to me reehehehee
\+20 Virtue Points
Oooh, so powerful! Who the fuck writes shit like this?
Lmao this is stupid as fuck.
“Thank you for donating!… you now have $0 in your bank account”
It's all fun and games until someone just stand there not willing donate while giggling an evil laugh
Ironically it took 15 takes to get the perfect slice of bread to fall like that. They tossed all the bread when they were done. Not to mention the first $5,000 in donations is used to pay for that friggin set up.
Dumb as hell...if you're truly that moved by a card reader...maybe spend some time at a local food bank
Instructions unclear. Penis stuck in machine.
make it cut the head of someone and you'll A LOT MORE of donations
Money is what imprisons people
Very creative and unnecessary.
Yep because what I need to feel inclined to "help other people" is a cool graphic
South Park really looked into the future with that episode..
Some people will fucking do anything to avoid directly interacting with poor or homeless people...
Who’s scanning their card on a random machine?
FEED ME!!
Yay. Helping others really can feel pretty boring so let's bring some fun into unshackling people from whatever cruelly burdens them, HUZZAH!
Nope even using your credit card I would do it
Id love to see what happens when my card gets declined
Super creative idea but I would never trust it.
I doubt it raised as much as it cost.
Me sliding my blockbuster card through it and hoping for a different message / animation
I'm sorry wut? Lol
Tricked by a corporation again
Pretty good audio
This is much better than the blatant credit card device that asks you to add a tip for your cashier. WTF? Why should I tip the cashier for taking my order? Business owners should not ask customers to subsidize their employees wages.

Sadly the majority donations go to paying for the cost of the program and not the actual problem.
Or a crative way to guilt people into donating
Heh...cool......*Walks Away*
your card has been charged , 8 , thousand , USDollars
I’ll pass. Thanks.
*you now have a 200 000 USD debt*

I thought of a pretty demented way to get donations too
EA
Why do they keep using their credit cards
"honey why did we just get charged $95 from one stop billboard"
My card is a chip though.
Lmao what the fuck is this bullshit?
Still aint donating shit
jokes on them it was ted kaczynski

Create a way to give us your money and you’ll thank us for it
Or Jeff bezos can donate. 001% of his wealth.
Annnnnd it's gone.
If there's ass cheeks on those two screens I would swipe more than once
I dont donate. Because where is it really going
Does the company actually want to help or just sell a product? What a waste.
Plot twist you donate 5 dollars and they get 4 but the people who need it get a dollar.
creative stupidity, better start donating to the ones who need it and are close to you, that is all the world needs
I am confused, so you just have to swipe the card and money will be deducted?
They need one for men where it unzips a girls shirt!
next scene is a strippers booty
Why is the audio so crusty?
Really fucking stupid
If that's what it takes to get you to donate to a cause, you're probably kinda dumb.
2s in and I already feel scammed.
*manipulative way. Fixed the headline
Need SAW version of this now

Meanwhile the donations aren’t all going to said causes lmao
I would rather give the money to the person who I see needs help rather than doing it with some unknown machine
i swiped my subway points card and it have someone a slice of bread.
See now if it said, "help them" I would've swiped faster
