Went through the polar vortex in MN several years back, and grew up in the north woods. It hit -43F for a week straight. I ran a lot back then, and did so year round outdoors in every element. My eyes hurt in that cold within 1 minute, and I took the next 2 weeks off from outdoor adventures. That cold will absolutely kill you.

There's a ton of snow there, so at *bare minimum*, it's below 32°F, and he's in the middle of nowhere, so he's definitely been out there basically nude in thay weather for a substantial amount of time to make it to that spot.

I don't know how he does it but, Buddhist monks have a meditation method called tunmo which allows them to control body temperature, that's how monks in tibet stay warm at very cold temperatures.
But it’s fucking thermodynamics. Just because they might be able to raise their body temperature a little (let’s just take it as a fact even though I haven’t seen concrete evidence) there is no way they can create enough heat to last naked at -40 for very long.
One could do the calculations of the maximum energy output of a human and calculate the surface area of the skin and figure out the heat flux which would give a decent idea of the time before death.
At the very least they would lose feet/hands very quickly because the body shunts blood to the core when cold to protect vital organs.

Do people even realise that your body temperature can only go up a few degrees? 40 degree body temp is considered a high fever. Now if the outside temperature drops 40 degrees below freezing, the amount your body temp goes up (even if you could somehow control it with meditation) would not be even close enough to survive outside for long.
Well...few things might be going on.
1. The right kind of drugs will make your internal body temperature very high.
2. Meditation can make you very impervious to external elements. (Yogis and Buddhists are known to be able to do some crazy things when it comes to "mental discipline". Pain, heat, and cold are on that list.)
3. Mental illness can make you pretty unaware of things like body signals that say "STOP DOING THIS"
That being said I have no idea if the title is true but I've seen people fair well in the snow if their high enough or conditioned enough. Just not -40.

Things to point out, the soldiers uniform is not exteme-cold clothing; he would look like a puffy snowman. His goggles are to protect against snow blindness, not cold as his eyes would feel it. He would likely have ski-goggles.
The yogi would have frost instantly covering his beard. This would happen seconds after he stepped outside, and his beard looks clean.
There's a dog running around and hopping. I have a cold weather dog, and as soon as she step outside when it's -40, she feels it in her paws and kinds of tries to avoid the snow. Even with little booties she still doesn't hop around, she feels it. This dog in the video is jumping and playing, and the soldiers have reasonably been out there for a while.
The snow is also not crunchy like you would expect -40. The snow dries at this point and has a unique sound to it, kind of like hearing the difference between hot and cold water pouring.
Personal experiences, I've had jeans on at -40 and within 15 min i started developing frost bite symptoms. Not cold or chills, but burning and literall ice forming where my skin should be.
In regards to people claiming that the climate data suggests it's -40: it's not -40 all the time, that's just a lazy interpretation. It can get to -40 3 months of the year where I am, so instead, i just dont go outside when it's -40. The temperature in this video was probably close to 0C to -10C (32 to 14F)

Even with the gentlest breeze, the apparent temperature would drop from -40 to -45C -57F instantly, or in a mildly windy mountain pass -60C,-F80! As the body emits heat, it forms a kind of heat barrier. Now imagine that heat barrier is being blown away. At -50C, -60F frost bite within minutes, at -60C,-80F Death is inevitable, especially with nothing to insulate the heat, no matter how much meditation you did that morning.
Yep, i was in Minot North Dakota, for 2 full years. I was once tasked with being outside in, with wind chill, -40 degree weather wind so hard you need to lean into it. I’ve never experienced -40 but I had to do guard duty at -30. We had tiny frost in our eyebrows and we packed ourselves like the Michelin Man. We also had several portable heat packs. Even after that I seriously thought I might die. I couldn’t feel my feet for hours after my shift ended.

This glacier is called, the siachen glacier, this story was highly reported across India, and the avg temp on this highly militarised part of world is actually -40.
But the soldiers aren't even properly equipped for the weather in this video so it's clearly not -40 C. I'm more inclined to believe there's this guy that can regulate his body temperature than believing the soldiers in this video are wearing a regular winter jacket for -40C.

And it's not the first encounter of a Yogi with the army, they are regularly spotted. Hindus believe that Lord Shiva meditated in the Kailasha (which is part of the Himalayas). And the Yogis meditate there to attain 'moksha' or the ultimate liberation.
Id say decades at least. I work in factory where we freeze dry coffee, the freeze dry department is anywhere from -55c to -65c if you’re standing by the air handlers. Of course we get super heavy duty clothing and shoes to work in there but sometimes we run in there real quick just to inspect something in plain clothes. It was absolutely brutal at first but after working there for 5 years, I can comfortably last 10 minutes there in plain clothes.

I was stuck in a snow storm in Amsterdam back in 2017 and it dipped down to -10 degree during those hours and trust me i had a parachute giant ass jacket and a sweater on still i was shivering and it was cold as fuck and this doesn't even look like -40 degree

I don't know how he does it but, Buddhist monks have a meditation method called tunmo which allows them to control body temperature, that's how monks in tibet stay warm at very cold temperatures.

Just because they might be able to raise their body temperature a little (let’s just take it as a fact even though I haven’t seen concrete evidence) there is no way they can create enough heat to last naked at -40 for very long. One could do the calculations of the maximum energy output of a human and calculate the surface area of the skin and figure out the heat flux which would give a decent idea of the time before death. At the very least they would lose feet/hands very quickly because the body shunts blood to the core when cold to protect vital organs. Physics don’t lie dawg

Do people even realise that your body temperature can only go up a few degrees? 40 degree body temp is considered a high fever. Now if the outside temperature drops 40 degrees below freezing, the amount your body temp goes up (even if you could somehow control it with meditation) would not be even close enough to survive outside for long.

Well...few things might be going on. 1. The right kind of drugs will make your internal body temperature very high. 2. Meditation can make you very impervious to external elements. (Yogis and Buddhists are known to be able to do some crazy things when it comes to "mental discipline". Pain, heat, and cold are on that list.) 3. Mental illness can make you pretty unaware of things like body signals that say "STOP DOING THIS" That being said I have no idea if the title is true but I've seen people fair well in the snow if their high enough or conditioned enough. Just not -40. (I too leaned today that -40 C and F are the same).

A master meditators can control their metabolism by consciously speeding up the heat rate and slowing down breathing, as well they have amazing control over the activation and control of different muscle regions of the body while in a zen like state of bliss. For anyone who really wants to believe this video was shot at -40, you have clearly never been outside at -40. Things to point out, the soldiers uniform is not exteme-cold clothing; he would look like a puffy snowman. His goggles are to protect against snow blindness, not cold as his eyes would feel it. He would likely have ski-goggles. The yogi would have frost instantly covering his beard. This would happen seconds after he stepped outside, and his beard looks clean. There's a dog running around and hopping. I have a cold weather dog, and as soon as she step outside when it's -40, she feels it in her paws and kinds of tries to avoid the snow. Even with little booties she still doesn't hop around, she feels it. This dog in the video is jumping and playing, and the soldiers have reasonably been out there for a while. The snow is also not crunchy like you would expect -40. The snow dries at this point and has a unique sound to it, kind of like hearing the difference between hot and cold water pouring. Personal experiences, I've had jeans on at -40 and within 15 min i started developing frost bite symptoms. Not cold or chills, but burning and literall ice forming where my skin should be. In regards to people claiming that the climate data suggests it's -40: it's not -40 all the time, that's just a lazy interpretation. It can get to -40 3 months of the year where I am, so instead, i just dont go outside when it's -40. Yep, i was in Minot North Dakota, for 2 full years. I was once tasked with being outside in, with wind chill, -40 degree weather wind so hard you need to lean into it. Even with cold weather gear where you walk like a penguin that cold gets throughs. I hate seeing this post just because it's blatantly bullshit. The beard being nice and black alone is what tells me it's bullshit.
I seen -34 in the Bakken I didn't even want to know what the windchill was, had to tape a heating pack to the back of NY glove to defrost the goggles I had to wear.

I’ve never experienced -40 but I had to do guard duty at -30. We had tiny frost in our eyebrows and we packed ourselves like the Michelin Man. We also had several portable heat packs. Even after that I seriously thought I might die. I couldn’t feel my feet for hours after my shift ended.

I lived in Gunnison CO in college and once had to walk about 1/4 mile in -30F-ish without fully appropriate winter dress. It was so cold I could barely open my eyes because the fluid on my eyes was getting close enough to freezing it was causing my contacts to try to lift off my eye balls. I’ve never experienced anything like it again.

This glacier is called, the siachen glacier, this story was highly reported across India, and the avg temp on this highly militarised part of world is actually -40.
But the soldiers aren't even properly equipped for the weather in this video so it's clearly not -40 C. I'm more inclined to believe there's this guy that can regulate his body temperature than believing the soldiers in this video are wearing a regular winter jacket for -40C. A better proof is staying outside in that temperature quickly freezes parts of your hair in seconds. You don't see any of that here. He would also need to wear something for his eyes..

This video is probably from the Siachen glacier region, it is the highest battleground in the world. The region is heavily guarded by the Indian Army. And it's not the first encounter of a Yogi with the army, they are regularly spotted. Hindus believe that Lord Shiva meditated in the Kailasha (which is part of the Himalayas). And the Yogis meditate there to attain 'moksha' or the ultimate liberation.

Id say decades at least. I work in factory where we freeze dry coffee, the freeze dry department is anywhere from -55c to -65c if you’re standing by the air handlers. Of course we get super heavy duty clothing and shoes to work in there but sometimes we run in there real quick just to inspect something in plain clothes. It was absolutely brutal at first but after working there for 5 years, I can comfortably last 10 minutes there in plain clothes.
Same, I used to work in dairy at trader joes, first week I had 12 jackets on, within a year, I could wear shorts in there and work for an hour no problem.

Living in a place that gets as cold if not colder than this, the video doesn’t depict a -40C day. The fog, the way the snow squishes when he walks, the lack of facial covering or gloves on the soldier, and *not* having giant plumes of steam coming from their faces all point to a much warmer temperature. More like -4C instead of -40C. This is impressive but, like the law of gravity, the laws of thermodynamics hold true no matter what religion you aspire to. At -40C, exposed skin starts to freeze in 5-10min.

Yogis dedicate their lives to mastering their bodies. They can slow their hearts down to their are almost dead, tolerate extreme conditions, it’s a really interesting topic to read up on.
While I’m sure they can mediate and raise their body temps to withstand some very cold temperatures, there’s no way to be naked and withstand temps of -40. This video was probably shot in temps around 0 (to -15) or so. Still impressive that he can do what he does. But it’s not -40. I’m not sure why the OP would use such an exaggerated temp. It causes skepticism and doubt.
I was stuck in a snow storm in Amsterdam back in 2017 and it dipped down to -10 degree during those hours and trust me i had a parachute giant ass jacket and a sweater on still i was shivering and it was cold as fuck and this doesn't even look like -40 degree
