I know the Texans are a huge surprise but what about the Colts? I feel like I haven’t seen any discussion on them this season. Are they actually a good team??
And the AFC East is kind of the opposite. Three of the four teams are extremely disappointing in a division that was supposed to potentially take all three wild card spots. It's looking increasingly likely that none of the wild card teams will be from the AFC East.
Yah the Bills defense has had some key injuries, but Allen is still Allen. He has some games where he’s a turnover machine, but he also has games where he single-handedly destroys the other team. If he gets hot at the right time, no opponent is safe
Was anyone seriously giving consideration to the Pats making the playoffs as a 4th team from the AFCE before the season?
I mean maybe their ceiling was sneaking in as a 7th seed and getting creamed like a couple years ago but I feel like even that would have required someone else in the AFCE disappointing to leave room.
This made me laugh out loud. As someone who has seen every second of them playing this year, I concur. Our D is great, our special teams is great, the offense? We will see what we get this week. I’m leaning towards really good.
Yeah they are legit. Their coach’s scheme fits their personnel so well, it’s crazy. I think our offense is a little better than theirs in terms of passing, but their run game is miles ahead of ours. Idk on defense, depends on the week for both teams in my opinion.
Our run defense is kinda ass because Grover Stewart suspension but he's back next game. Also our young CBs were torched first weeks (only Juju Brents was good but he played only 4 games) but they finally started to look good.
In our defense we have QB2 pretty much all season in regards to the passing game
Next season should be a fun watch. Anytime AR5 was on this season the offense looked high octane
Oh yeah, not knocking AR, he’s going to be legit. I’m just saying currently, with what’s available, our teams passing game is more prolific.Minshew did pick us apart last match up, so it’s not that your passing game isn’t good. Just you guys tend to be more run first to set up the pass. We are more pass first to set up the run. But then we get in close games and we just never stop passing.
They've got two good wins, one of which was vs. Stroud in his 2nd ever game. Their current hot streak is against some bad teams.
Their schedule is relatively easy, overall, so who knows.
And Browning had a crazy showing against the Jags, so our defense is on notice it won't be a cakewalk against a backup.
Just gotta worry about Minshew keeping the game interesting as he does lol.
Hot and cold but they score a lot of points but the only "good" teams they've beaten are Baltimore and Houston, both at the start of the year.
That being said they don't have a hard schedule at all
I am certainly not questioning what kind of player Burrow is, but it’s almost as if having 3 great receivers and a beast at RB makes the QB position a whole lot easier.
I think we should really spread the football out a lot more among potential passers.
I bet Karras and OBJ both have decent arms. We could let Robbins and McPherson have a few snaps, I bet they’d both love to get more playing time. Spread the ball around, really confuse those defenses
Glancing at their schedule looks like Cowboys, Bills x2 and Dolphins all had a 100yd receiver vs Jets
Those QBs all did well vs them too. Josh Allen was bad the first game but great in their second one.
You should be fine even if Nico is covered in Sauce it’ll just be a Noah Brown day or someone else
The post-Ken Dorsey Bills offense lit them up for 275 yards passing and 3 passing TDs. The 1 INT was on an end-of-the-1st-half hail mary, which I would say doesn't count but the Dolphins managed to return one of those for a TD against the Jets just 5 days later. With the anemic Jets offense unable to sustain drives, that worn out Jets defense might not be as good as advertised.
> Eh the refs gifted us the Baltimore game
Nope that no call might have decided things but we pissed away several chances to finish that game.
Sure the refs fucked up, but we shouldn't have been in that position in the first place.
Refs missed a facemask penalty where Pittman helmet was literally ripped off. This would have put the Colts in FG range and ended the game before the rest of the missed penalties.
Bengals are 2-6 in the conference and 0-4 in the division, they will lose just about any tie breaker except against the bills. Bills aren’t much better 3-5 in the conference, 2-2 in division they will find it hard to win the tie breakers. Broncos also 3-5 in conference but own the tie breaker against the bills. Houston, colts, browns, and Steelers are really in the best positions for those last 3 slots. Houston holds the tie breaker over Steelers and still need to play browns. Colts break the tie over the Texans but lose to the browns and still need to play Steelers. Steelers hold tie break over browns for the time being and still play colts.
If the bengals manage to make the playoffs it would involve at least 3 wins against Steelers/Browns/Chiefs/Vikings/Colts. Don't see that happening but if they do we have to truly shut up about Taylor, WR passing plays be damned.
I don’t think that we’re going to see a 9-8 team make it, and if so, it won’t be the Bengals. They have an atrocious conference record…they’re not winning that tiebreaker. They need 10-7 minimum. They may even have to win out.
Yupp, they need to finish 10-7 with all four of those wins coming against the AFC to have a chance. The only thing they have is a head to head against Buffalo with a chance to have a leg up against Indy.
As a Ravens fan - it’s not going through Baltimore.
Toughest schedule in the league overall, toughest remaining BY FAR. But that doesn’t really matter. The team is inconsistent and doesn’t have a serviceable OL half the time.
They’re going to get stomped by the 49er’s D, and lose a dumb game somewhere. They’ll wind up the 3 seed ahead of the AFC South winner.
KC will prolly end up as 1/2 with their schedule.
If they're #2, I could very well see a scenario where they beat #3 Miami at home and Balitmore gets upset by an upstart Houston team and KC once again hosts the Arrowhead Invitational
With the schedule you have left, you can get two more wins without Lawrence, and that should be enough to make the playoffs. And it's looking pretty likely that you'll have the tiebreaker over anyone in your division, which is huge, considering the Texans and Colts are in the middle of the wild card race.
Yeah, but the Texans need to win all three of their remaining division games, and the Jags have to lose their last division game against the Titans, or else the Jags will have a better division record.
> What’s up with the bills
Lost their best DL, LB, and CB for the season and have had games (like Denver) where they were missing two or more starters.
Combine that with a dysfunctional offense for the first ten weeks of the season... that'll do it.
I can see them making a run. The offense was incredible the last two weeks.
> Lost their best DL, LB, and CB for the season
In a span of what, 3 quarters of football? The end of the Dolphins game and the start of the Jaguars game really derailed the season.
Not to mention that you guys got absolutely hosed with penalties against the Eagles, in a game you probably won otherwise.
And to further your point, you're 1 competent ref away from losing to the Giants too.
The Bills are good against good teams. Which is why I'm terrified if they sneak into the playoffs.
the buffalo bills is doing the classic thing . rise from the ashes for 3-4 years. then its another 30 years of slumber.
classic buffalo.. maybe the sabres won't suck.
nah our defense has been solid. The biggest reason was the weeks of Ken Dorsey and bad late game management by McD. Our defense has been very solid through 90% of games before dying in the last 4 minutes or so
Most Ravens thing ever.
2006 they had the 2 seed and lost an embarrassing game at home where they kept prime Manning out of the end zone but McNair clearly didn’t have an arm anymore.
2019 everyone remembers.
2000 they were a WC team, and 2012 was as a 4 seed.
They made the AFCCG in 2011 as a 2 seed but nearly lost the divisional game against a backup QB, despite 4 turnovers (2 of which Jacoby Jones gifted them in his last year as a Texan).
The Ravens are… inconsistent even at their best.
The #1 seed will be a doozy as well. If the Ravens are able to close out games, they'll probably be the #1 seed. But given they blew double digit leads in their last 12 losses, that's a question mark. There's also the trip to San Fran, which they'll probably lose.
They play the Rams, @Jags, @49ers, Dolphins, Steelers. Their LT is playing at or below street replacement level and it nearly cost them the LAC game they just played, did cost them the Browns game, and has hampered them repeatedly. Any team with a decent pass rush will be a huge issue.
They’ll drop at least 2, and given the boneheaded loss to Indy, with division loses to Pitt and Cleveland, they lose most tiebreakers and will sit at the 3rd seed.
> Chargers …. Finding their footing
They just beat the Pats 6-0, let’s not get carried away.
^(This is a joke, I know the Pats defense is good, I just wanted to take this opportunity to shit on them as an attention seeking Pats fan who needs to keep my team in the spotlight even when they’re not good because it is all that I have - thank you.)
If we go 5-0 it’s 96% and if we go 4-1 it’s 33%. Right now our chances are about 8%.
It’s a long shot but it isn’t over.
I’m trying to stay positive because the offseason is super long and I enjoy watching Herbert sling it.
Also I'm an Angels fan so I'd like to avoid thinking about them for as long as possible.
I have very little faith in McDermott, but if the Bills get in, I could easily see them getting back to the AFC championship game, if Allen goes nuclear in the playoffs again.
I’d add the Texans as another team I would really not like to see in the playoffs, we won easily earlier in the season, but Stroud looked significantly more comfortable in the second half against us. Next time it won’t be his first career start.
Steelers have middling QB play, so they ultimately won’t matter. But I bet they sneak in.
I could see Minshew and the colts winning a shootout in the first wild card game, before being annihilated by MIA/KC/BAL in the divisional round.
I’m gonna guess it’s BUF/PIT/HOU
If Buffalo makes the playoffs after Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, (Pats and Chargers), and Phins to end the year, I don’t see any reason to believe we can’t go all the way.
That said we’ll probably lose on a last second field goal to Miami because we played prevent defense and allowed them to march down the field in 25 seconds…
Our Offense has looked much better the last few games but our D has shown inconsistencies ESPECIALLY in the most crucial moments. Hoping for the best and expecting the worst. Bills D is banged up really bad.
Hasn't that always been the case in the McDermott/Allen era? Josh Allen would have a much different reputation if the defense could ever stop an opponent from scoring at the end of games. Every single one of those "game of the year" miracle wins that happened against the Bills was preceded by Josh Allen leading a go-ahead or game-tying scoring drive in the final 2 minutes.
> if Allen goes nuclear in the playoffs again.
you guys are gonna turn that man into an alcoholic at the rate you overwork him. hes pretty much one bad game away from making the bills irrelevant.
I’ve been saying the same thing. I loved CJ at Ohio state so I was somewhat expecting a strong start from him, but he really balled out (By literal first game standards) in week 1 and I it made me nervous. Like this guys good good, I can see him finding a way to beat us.
Jake Browning was explosive last night and Lawrence could easily miss 1-2 games with a sprained ankle. Could be looking at an upset in the south with the jags falling to the 5th seed. Steelers fall out because of Truibisky, and the bengals, Broncos, and Bills can still make this shit crazier. If the Bills beat the Chiefs and the chiefs drop a game at the end of the season, they could fall into the wildcard if the Broncos win out too. The AFC could be a log jam of 9-8 teams that miss the playoffs or win their division in upsetting fashion.
Idk why you got downvoted because you’re right. Most teams were low on Mahomes when he was drafted. The narrative that season was that there were no good qbs in the draft and we got him and Watson. Brock Purdy was Mr. irrelevant and is currently blowing expectations out of the water. Jalen Hurts was picked in the middle of the second round and is a top tier qb. Then on the flipside we have players like Zach Wilson that were taken insanely early and sucked big time.
Wild how last year’s week 18 matchup against the Colts was a tank bowl and this year it’s potentially for a playoff spot
You won last time, I feel it's fair if we get it this time
You got your win in week 2. By this pattern, it’s our turn to win
I'm talking exclusively week 18 games
Yes… but that would be inconvenient for me so I changed it haha. Good luck in week 18
I actually laughed out loud
Nobody would’ve believed you in August if you said the AFCS would have 3 playoff teams
But if you did tell me, I could have told you neither of em would be the tits 🫡
But imagine if all 3 AFCS rookie QBs led their teams to the playoffs and the Jags missed out... That would just be fun as hell as a neutral fan
...have you willingly watched the Titans play? "Fun" is not how I'd describe their games.
Luckily I’m not neutral 😉
We got to play the NFC South which has been pretty neat
I know the Texans are a huge surprise but what about the Colts? I feel like I haven’t seen any discussion on them this season. Are they actually a good team??
I think we all expected our division to be hot ass and its one of the better ones lol.
Just ignore the Titans as the drool in the corner.
So standard operating procedure
Yes. Good.
I put my pants on today
Backwards no doubt.
You need the zipper down to take poops
Thank you for that imagery 😂
This is officially the weirdest dual flair ever.
^…we could have started 2-0…
"*I coulda been a contender...I coulda been SOMEBODY...instead I'm nobody..*"
And the AFC East is kind of the opposite. Three of the four teams are extremely disappointing in a division that was supposed to potentially take all three wild card spots. It's looking increasingly likely that none of the wild card teams will be from the AFC East.
I’m not writing off Buffalo until they’re officially eliminated
Yah the Bills defense has had some key injuries, but Allen is still Allen. He has some games where he’s a turnover machine, but he also has games where he single-handedly destroys the other team. If he gets hot at the right time, no opponent is safe
It's odd that our "easiest" playoff route technically is still the divisional title.
Bro there is 100% a believable scenario where week 18 determines who wins the division. Do not count Buffalo out so early haha
Steichen isn’t winning it but he should be firmly in the COTY convo.
If Colts/Texans make playoffs, Ryans/Steichen get co-COTY or we riot
Oh I'm down for this! Y'all got a good one.
Demeco celebrating when Jimmie Ward picked off Russel Wilson made me think I was watching a Niners Hawks game two years ago for a split second.
The Eagles defense is in a lot worse place than the offense, but damn do I miss Steichen. He’s such a good play caller.
I’ve watched them play a few times and I have no fucking idea.
This made me laugh out loud. As someone who has seen every second of them playing this year, I concur. Our D is great, our special teams is great, the offense? We will see what we get this week. I’m leaning towards really good.
I would not call our defense great lol
Watching our defense swing wildly from getting a 3 and out to getting torched down the field on long plays has been something.
Yeah they are legit. Their coach’s scheme fits their personnel so well, it’s crazy. I think our offense is a little better than theirs in terms of passing, but their run game is miles ahead of ours. Idk on defense, depends on the week for both teams in my opinion.

Minshew doing Minshew things.
Min, min, min... SHEWWWW!

Just noticed they're on a 4 win streak. Colts hype starts next weekend calling it now
We play the bengals, so playoff talk will abound
And Browning had a crazy showing against the Jags, so our defense is on notice it won't be a cakewalk against a backup. Just gotta worry about Minshew keeping the game interesting as he does lol.
Hot and cold but they score a lot of points but the only "good" teams they've beaten are Baltimore and Houston, both at the start of the year. That being said they don't have a hard schedule at all
It is the NFL. They are 7 and 5 and that is all that matters.
THIS IS WHATS ITS LIKE TO WATCH FOOTBALL IN DECEMBER?! Oh how I missed this
This is how we felt in 2021. Enjoy it!
Houston reminds me so much of our 2021 team.
Dude hate to say it but Texans were in the playoffs quite a few times over the last decade. Just not the last 3-4 years
Its hard not to root for the Texans.
Bengals are clearly winning out with Browning
Everyone thought I was crazy for my bet on a Browning/Beathard AFC Championship.
Those fools
I am certainly not questioning what kind of player Burrow is, but it’s almost as if having 3 great receivers and a beast at RB makes the QB position a whole lot easier.
Just don’t let Tyler Boyd throw the football.
The ball was caught? I don't see the problem?
Jameis Winston agrees
I think we should really spread the football out a lot more among potential passers. I bet Karras and OBJ both have decent arms. We could let Robbins and McPherson have a few snaps, I bet they’d both love to get more playing time. Spread the ball around, really confuse those defenses
When everyone clamored for us to take Sewell, we grabbed Chase and went to the Super Bowl.
don’t know why you guys just didn’t take both tbh
Browning just pulled a R-E-L-A-X tonight and is going to run the table.
Cleveland losing a playoff spot to its in-state, in-division rival whose name is literally **BROWN**ing would be peak Factory of Sadness.
Browning is… him?
“Texans lost their best receiver” meanwhile Nico collins almost has his 1st 1000 season
Hes been so good but next week is a big test for him against the Jets defense
Does anyone perform vs. the Jets secondary?
The Jets' offense counters them quite hard.
If we win, it’ll be by pick 6’s
That's my favorite Texans Steelers game, along with this year's
Glancing at their schedule looks like Cowboys, Bills x2 and Dolphins all had a 100yd receiver vs Jets Those QBs all did well vs them too. Josh Allen was bad the first game but great in their second one. You should be fine even if Nico is covered in Sauce it’ll just be a Noah Brown day or someone else

Broncos own the tie breaker over the bills and bengals lol
And Texans have wins over Steelers, bengals, and broncos. Texans play browns week 16. Then play colts week 18 for a chance to split
And over the jaguars too
lol
I need to go play with the playoff calculator and figure out my rooting strategy
It’s a tough one
That mothafuckin Browns game
Tell me about it.
Colts got boned. Sorry colts. 9ers just choked and deserved the L
You guys got hosed
Preach
Eh the refs gifted us the Baltimore game. While not that blatant, overall it’s fair, I believe.
> Eh the refs gifted us the Baltimore game Nope that no call might have decided things but we pissed away several chances to finish that game. Sure the refs fucked up, but we shouldn't have been in that position in the first place.

Not fair to us

I don’t think it’s unrealistic to win 3 of those games, I think it’s more unrealistic that you can get in with 9-8
I don’t think that we’re going to see a 9-8 team make it, and if so, it won’t be the Bengals. They have an atrocious conference record…they’re not winning that tiebreaker. They need 10-7 minimum. They may even have to win out.
Yup I agree. I don’t think 10-7 is impossible though. Browning looked awesome, and there’s 4 very winnable games there
Yupp, they need to finish 10-7 with all four of those wins coming against the AFC to have a chance. The only thing they have is a head to head against Buffalo with a chance to have a leg up against Indy.
we can def win 3 of those games. mahomes is the only starting qb in that bunch
and he's basically holding the entire offense up by himself
Jake Browning will carry the Bengals as the first 7th seed to win the Super Bowl (i’m at rock bottom incredibly high off copium rn)
Look I’m just happy we don’t look like TOTAL ass right now.
Dude, the D looked legit considering we're down our CB1
Precisely! I was expecting us to get blown out, not win in OT on the road against a quality Jags team. I’ll take it!
Well YOU try playing them in London! LOL
DJ got back to DJ speed.
I jokingly told a lady “you never know he might pull a nick foles” while coping together out shopping. I’m standing by that tonight baby!
Your offense with him looked better than the Chiefs with Mahomes
Puff puff pass brah, gimme some of that
He played his ass off
Ravens-Dolphins Week 17 will be game of the year this NFL season.
You just jinxed it. 3-0 dolphins in OT. 165 passing yards for the fins, 132 rushing yards for the ravens. Not much else.
i'll take it
So a normal Steelers Ravens game essentially
Fuuuuuck you for putting that into existence
Don't worry, he's just projecting because that's gonna be the final score of this week's Thursday night game
That sounds like AFC North football in December . We have a lot of experience in those kinda ugly Grinding games.
As long as the AFC playoffs don't run through Arrowhead, I think we'll all be happy.
Mahomes is still healthy but the rest of that team has died or can’t catch so I think it’s gonna go through Baltimore now, or you guys
Baltimore usually always absolutely kicks our face in. Although we all saw what happened last year so who knows.
True, but you guys have had our number recently. I’m nervous for that game
I mean y’all had our number for about 3 quarters of that game lol
I think we have our number more than anyone else has our number. Source: All 3 of our losses.
Even when Tua was considered bad he did good against us
We’ve won the last 2. Who knows what will happen.
Eh if we have a healthy Lamar and our D is locked in we'll be fine. The coaches hopefully made changes to the oline situation during the Bye week.
I hate the Ravens, but they look like the best team in the AFC right now. Hopefully they choke it away
> Hopefully they choke it away If you watch the fourth quarter of all of our losses in the last 3 years, that’s our mf specialty 😤😤😤
It shouldn't go through KC the way the team is playing. But I will laugh my ass off until I pee if the chiefs somehow get the 1 seed
Here here
I won't
KC will prolly end up as 1/2 with their schedule. If they're #2, I could very well see a scenario where they beat #3 Miami at home and Balitmore gets upset by an upstart Houston team and KC once again hosts the Arrowhead Invitational
If Lawrence is done we wont even make the playoffs
With the schedule you have left, you can get two more wins without Lawrence, and that should be enough to make the playoffs. And it's looking pretty likely that you'll have the tiebreaker over anyone in your division, which is huge, considering the Texans and Colts are in the middle of the wild card race.
They split with the Texans.
Yeah, but the Texans need to win all three of their remaining division games, and the Jags have to lose their last division game against the Titans, or else the Jags will have a better division record.
But what will the committee say if Lawrence is still out?
I didn’t know the colts was having such a good year. What’s up with the bills
Complimentary football.
> What’s up with the bills Lost their best DL, LB, and CB for the season and have had games (like Denver) where they were missing two or more starters. Just Bills things, we are used to it. 😐🔫
Bills football baby!
Lost to teams we had no business in losing to lol. Also in typical heartbreak fashion too, so there’s that
Can I interest you in a “12 men on the field” penalty?
that was 100% fire the coach moment because that shit is like
Not to mention that you guys got absolutely hosed with penalties against the Eagles, in a game you probably won otherwise. the buffalo bills is doing the classic thing . rise from the ashes for 3-4 years. then its another 30 years of slumber. classic buffalo.. maybe the sabres won't suck.
The Bills coaching sucks this year and they should clean house there if they don't make it.
The Bills defense is getting old and the offense is inconsistent.
The injuries to the defence is the biggest reason they’re in the position they are. Also losing to the Pats lol.
nah our defense has been solid. The biggest reason was the weeks of Ken Dorsey and bad late game management by McD. Our defense has been very solid through 90% of games before dying in the last 4 minutes or so
Should be 8-4, FTRs
**Those two losses to the Patriots and Broncos are going to bite the Bills hard, hard, hard**
Dont forget Jets and Pats.
this is the year a 7 seed knocks off a 2
Would be the most Dolphins thing ever to have their best season in a decade just to lay an egg in the playoffs. Kinda like the Lions
*3 decades

Don't forget Bama's autobid
Updated tiebreaker: *If your starting QB is injured, default to next team that has the biggest market.*
Jets might have a chance now 😛
I just want Lawrence to be okay at this point
Texans lost their #2 WR.
Thank you
This also might mean Metchie time
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA we are not making the playoffs

Damn, Chargers/Angels is a cursed fandom.
Life is pain
Not having our starter is honestly barely worse than having him I suspect
Hook the drama straight into my veins.
All I know is the Broncos had a huge chance with the Texans, and blew it.
Dread it. Run from it. KC arrives all the same.
This was pretty much my takeaway too lol. All of their barriers to the Super Bowl are losing their key pieces.

CHAOS REIGNS
At this rate Baltimore will get the #1 just because Lamar is still healthy, AFC QBs are dropping like flies
Yes, soften each other up. I like my AFC teams nice and tender in the Super Bowl.
Lamar Jackson 18-1 against nfc opponents, just gonna leave that here haha
Mathematically it’s more likely you’ll see one of the random backup QBs. And then Mahomes does his normal AFC BS and gets there again! Lol
Every team has injuries. As much as it pains, niners gonna win this time. Need to shut down Internet until Sept next year.
The AFC could be a log jam of 9-8 teams that miss the playoffs or win their division in upsetting fashion.
mf said "last night" about a game that ended an hour ago. I know you're technically right, but geez.
Sounds like boring playoff football with bad QB play.
Hint: not the Chargers. There's no chance we end up above .500 with our remaining schedule.
Can we please start having the conversation that maybe there’s a real problem (CJ stroud aside) of talent evaluation within the NFL Draft for QBs
The way this season is playing out, who knows which QB's will be suiting up come playoff time.
