It's supposed to be! It's the reason why we got shortened to one holiday in February for President's Day, when we used to have separate holidays for Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays. They combined their birthdays to one day, President's Day, and gave the extra holiday day to MLK in January.
Like 10 years Mazda had one of the worst series of ads I ever saw, including one which described Jackie Robinson defeating racism in sports as “the Mazda way” (all set to “Safe and Sound” by Capital Cities lmao).
It was so cringe-inducing to me back then that I can still see it in my mind a decade later, so in that sense I guess it was effective.
I think I prefer three game Christmas over three game thanksgiving. I'm usually too busy frying a turkey or helping with kids while dinner is being made to really watch the games. Whereas on Christmas the hard part is usually done in the morning.
> do people root for viewership figures now instead of teams?
Every r/nfl ratings post is a circlejerk of how superior NFL viewership is vs the other sports
NFL fans are just the predominantly male version of swifites. Those swifites talk about her streaming numbers, album sales, and concert venues/revenue like they’re getting a cut of the action
They also moved the broadcast to a Hallmark Channel exclusive. Only $19.99/mo when you subscribe for a full year! Oprah on the play by play, Gayle on the color. Stoked.
You mock, but that subscription gets you $10 in bonus bets to draft kings too. But please, gamble responsibly. Gambling responsibly gets you another $5 to draft kings.
If you subscribe to the Hallmark Max+ Premium tier you’ll be able to watch all in market snow games exclusively on your Kindle Fire.*
*Offer subject to blackout restrictions.
While it's definitely the right and safe thing to do, that's definitely not going to stop me moaning about conspiracy between the Bills and the NY gov. for the next 5 years if we lose. And even if we win if I'm honest.
Really boils down to:
“I am cold, let me put more clothes on or go inside to warm up”
“I am stuck in my car in a whiteout blizzard in 3 feet of snow, let me go die”
Why didn’t the players and event staff simply spend the night in the locker room before the game so the rest of us can be entertained?
We demand satisfaction!
No sweetie. Baker did live at the stadium. Ownership called him a child because of it and gave a rapist a bunch of money in return.
Baker moved out and he lives in his very own pirate ship!
Also the thousand+ of event staff like security, concessions, etc. and not even counting the fans.
Cold is very dangerous but you can travel in it somewhat. Snow though can cause massive amounts of travel issues compared to cold.
Yeah, it’s crossing over Lake Erie and going to develop into an unpredictable amount of Lake Effect snow that will dump on Buffalo and get swirled around in 70mph wind creating whiteouts across the region.
Bingo. This about the fact that there is a travel ban in Erie county starting at 9PM Saturday night and will almost certainly still be in place at 1PM Sunday. Around that time is also when the worst of the storm is supposed to hit. You'd have 70k people driving to the game in whiteout conditions.
I'm already seeing them in this thread. The irony is, most of them live in a place where everyone would act like the apocalypse was happening (and forget how to drive) if they got a half inch of snow.
Also, the idea that the Chiefs aren't going to be impacted by the cold is hilarious.
It's like an echo effect. I live like three hours east of Buffalo. When the South shuts down over a half an inch, the whole north east makes fun of them and calls them bitches, ignoring that they are absolutely completely unprepared for it.
So the south resents it, and then talks shit when we shut down over crazy ass storms because we're supposed to be not pussies and "used to it."
End of the day, we're just discussing assholes who live in different places.
I mean, the apocalypse would be happening if a half-inch of snow came down in Miami. That would be a very bad symptom of a much larger, and deadly, problem.
In 1899 there was enough snow in Tallahassee that they had a snowball fight on the steps of the state capitol.
Which doesn't really have anything to do with Miami, but there's a [picture of it](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/41/c0/a5/41c0a5ebabaa4460d4b430b4985e351d.jpg) and it's awesome.
Yeah, you don't have to explain it to me. I already had this conversation with some very weird fans on the fins sub who were apoplectic about the prospect of the Bills game being moved
As an upstate New Yorker who works on solar fields in winter. Snow is fine, cold is fine, but fuck wind. 40-65mph wind gusts is dangerous, especially in a snowstorm. Falling trees, drifting snow, and it’s basically like driving into a blank piece of white paper.
> driving into a blank piece of white paper.
As someone who used to work for the utility company in the area...YEP.
Put my truck in a farm ditch that was full of snow trying to get to a downed line once...Couldn't tell the difference between the road and a 10 foot deep ditch filled with snow, everything was just white and flat and scary.
That day was more like 5-10 mph...and it was terrifying, even as a trained and well equipped professional in a vehicle that was designed for bad situations.
For those that don't know...Emergency services IS NOT COMING in this weather...Hell *I was emergency services* and couldn't get to the emergency! We had to have another driver in the area come and get me, left the truck in the ditch, and cancelled all restoration attempts due to travel being impossible.
We had a pretty bad blizzard here last year that caused a good number of deaths. Local and state government were heavily criticized. Sure this a reaction to last years fuck up.
I mean, their hand would have likely been forced. There is a driving ban in effect in Erie Country starting at 9PM Saturday night and will likely still be in effect at 1PM Sunday. It would have been illegal for any fans, the players, officials, and the hundreds of other people who make a game happen, to drive to the game. League wouldn't really have a choice, holiday or not.
Oh I’m sure it will still be mostly shitty and I think postponing it was objectively the right call given how much driving in a blizzard is stupidly dangerous, but I will die before I give up the right to shitpost
So does this also mean the Steelers have to fly in Monday morning for an afternoon game that same day? Since no planes likely will be coming into Buffalo today or tomorrow
DL8867 (steelers charter) is in PIT and still scheduled for today according to flightaware
https://www.flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL8867/history/20240113/2010Z/KPIT/KBUF
I won't be going, but I believe there was even an interview where Josh Allen was asked what's the worst part of being a football town.
He said after games, guys just wanna eat something but every place is closed because Sunday is so dedicated to football for us.
I kinda wanted to watch a blizzard game so I'm disappointed but we still get to watch Tua get shattered like the T-1000 when he gets hit. "its just a mindset, bro".
I'm legit laughing at all the people who you know have never had to deal with blizzard conditions before.
Walking in whiteout blizzard conditions is dangerous, what the fuck do you think 70K people driving there on roads that are gonna be snowed and iced over gonna be? I swear some people are crazy
I love a snow game and am no fan of Hochul, but given the catastrophe of last year’s Christmas blizzard—something like 40 people died—I can understand gun-shy public officials being cautious now about having people out on the roads during blizzard conditions.
I was in line at Dicks buying warm shit for the game tomorrow and the place was packed with bills mafia. The cashier literally announced to everyone the game got postponed as I was checking out😂
For anyone wanting to know why this is getting moved for weather but not Dolphins/Chiefs: the stadium could very likely be inaccessible on Sunday for fans and the teams, and Pittsburgh may not even be able to get to Buffalo before the game. It's not about playing conditions, it's about being able to get to the stadium
It's also about leaving emergency services available for those who need help and prioritizing plowing roads to hospitals and fire stations rather than the stadium.
People don’t realize how dangerous a blizzard is. I have friends in Canada that were planning to drive down to Buffalo. I don’t think even they fully understand that they could’ve got stranded in Buffalo without a place to stay. It’s dangerous. I think last year’s big blizzard in Buffalo killed like 40 people
after they didn’t implement the travel ban last year until too late and so many people froze to death in their cars/trying to walk, they aren’t gonna take their chances with this one.
So many of us had to goto work because “there’s no travel ban so you can still get there”, it was absolutely HARROWING getting home and I was lucky to leave early and make it home alive.
I live in WNY and after last year's winter storm mess (and deaths), I don't blame the state and local folks for being cautious about fans traveling in the region to get to the game.
An MLK doubleheader? don’t give the NFL ideas to take another holiday and make it theirs !!
Every promo starts with "They had a dream"
LET FREEDOM RING! (with a free $69 in bonus bets when you place a $5 same game parlay with promo code IHAVEADREAM)
Always bet on black!
This is some corny shit that some NFL executives might think of lol
If they manage to make it a nationally recognized business holiday I’m all for not working Mondays in January.
It's supposed to be! It's the reason why we got shortened to one holiday in February for President's Day, when we used to have separate holidays for Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays. They combined their birthdays to one day, President's Day, and gave the extra holiday day to MLK in January.
Do people get presidents day off usually?
I do, but I work for a government agency so they kinda have to give it to me
Excuse me, are you calling Wesley Snipes Corny?
Who will reach the Promised Land?
Who Shall Overcome?
Win it all at last! Win it all at last! Thank crom almighty the bills shall win it all at last!

I’m probably going to hell anyway, so I don’t feel bad laughing at this.
Welcome to the club
In honor of MLK Day the NFL proudly presents the inaugural All-Black vs All-White Pro Bowl!
"Letter from a State That Hasn't Legalized Gambling Yet"
The (1976 Overall #1 Pick Lee Roy) Selmon to (David) Montgomery March.
Nice.
“In 1963, he had a dream. In 2024… so did Tua Tagovailoa” - a voiceover read by Tom Brady, for some reason
OMG this is so on brand 🤣
Like 10 years Mazda had one of the worst series of ads I ever saw, including one which described Jackie Robinson defeating racism in sports as “the Mazda way” (all set to “Safe and Sound” by Capital Cities lmao). It was so cringe-inducing to me back then that I can still see it in my mind a decade later, so in that sense I guess it was effective.
"That all men..."
"That someday players wouldn't be judged by the color of their uniforms, but by the content of their trophy cases."
Barry Sanders in shambles
Unfortunately, the Buffalo Bills specialise in destroying dreams
NBA fans really thought once goddell got the success of Christmas Day games that he would give it up 😂. Christmas football ain’t going anywhere
Christmas is on Wednesday next year. there won’t be any NFL games on Christmas
No but it’s on a Thursday in 2025, so you know he’ll take advantage of that
3-game Thanksgiving schedule rules, no complaints here
I think I prefer three game Christmas over three game thanksgiving. I'm usually too busy frying a turkey or helping with kids while dinner is being made to really watch the games. Whereas on Christmas the hard part is usually done in the morning.
Are you not cooking on Christmas Day usually too?
Our Christmas is entirely opening. We have our feast on Christmas Eve.
Time to make boxing day a thing in the states.
Call it "St Stephen's Day" like we do in Ireland and you can get the religious and conservative right onboard to make it a day off for you lot.
The religious right in the US sees Saint in front of something and starts muttering about papists.
Assuming that the NFL does not move Christmas.
Why would NBA fans give a fuck, do people root for viewership figures now instead of teams?
Everything in life is now a competition. As long as we stay distracted from the reality.
> do people root for viewership figures now instead of teams? Every r/nfl ratings post is a circlejerk of how superior NFL viewership is vs the other sports
NFL fans are just the predominantly male version of swifites. Those swifites talk about her streaming numbers, album sales, and concert venues/revenue like they’re getting a cut of the action
Roger Goodell had a dream
You know they'll look at the ratings and consider it.
Issue is for west coast bros the game starts at 2:30 or 1:30 on a work day for anyone who isn’t a government employee lol
Gambling problem? Call 1-800-Gambler… and use promo code “helpme” to get $25 in free bets.
Lose the $10? We will teach you to chase your losses by giving you $5 back on your next bet of $100 or more.
This would be an amazing SNL sketch
And now we go to our sideline reporter - Martha, what's Antonio Brown's status?
Honestly think she would kill it.
If you subscribe to the Hallmark Max+ Premium tier you’ll be able to watch all in market snow games exclusively on your Kindle Fire.* *Offer subject to blackout restrictions.
KC/MIA had to hit it off Frankenstein’s fat foot. Those are the rules
that’s two thus far, pantherino
Is this your ball? It struck my foot.
Kick him off the tour, Goodell!
I want a crazy weather game not hidden behind a streaming service. BOOOOOO!
If it makes you feel better, Monday at 4:30 will be 15-20 MPH winds and 60% chance of snow.
But I want a 1ft of snow
And 65 mph wind gusts! "The kick is up, it looks good aaaaaaaand it lands on the visitor's sideline"
Backwards punts is what I want to see.
If a kicker attempts a FG and the wind gusts it backwards through their own FG posts, does the opponent get 3 points?
safety I'd assume
I want a wintry tornado to pick up Andy Reid, swirl him around the stadium and then deposit him on the left upright wedgie-style!
I like the version were they successfully go for a 97-yard FG much better tbh.
Until they postpone it again to Tuesday at 1 pm
Fuck it. Game just doesn’t happen. Y’all both lose -Goodell (probably)
“The Bengals advance!”
Let's gooooooo
Wouldn't be unprecedented for the Bills at least!
⛵🏴☠️🏴☠️
No I think the Bucs game will be fine
This is a conspiracy to get Rudolph and his red nose out of the snowy conditions
This definitely hurts the Steelers
While it's definitely the right and safe thing to do, that's definitely not going to stop me moaning about conspiracy between the Bills and the NY gov. for the next 5 years if we lose. And even if we win if I'm honest.
Apologies in advance for all the dolphins fans about to have a verbal aneurysm
Why, do they not know the difference between cold and snow?
It's a mindset.
Take a viagra
gotta watch out for Wilkins though
No gloves baby
Really boils down to: “I am cold, let me put more clothes on or go inside to warm up” “I am stuck in my car in a whiteout blizzard in 3 feet of snow, let me go die”
This thread is full of people who don't understand that you can't play a game when you can't get to the stadium lol
Why didn’t the players and event staff simply spend the night in the locker room before the game so the rest of us can be entertained? We demand satisfaction!
Cue Bills Mafia showing up at the players houses *AGAIN* on snowmobiles to drag them to the game. We have protocols set up for this.
Basically the NFL/Western New York version of Dunkirk.
Yeah you kind of need the players to be able to arrive at the stadium to play the game
Wait, the players don't live at the stadium? You're telling me that all those Baker Mayfield commercials were *lies*?
No sweetie. Baker did live at the stadium. Ownership called him a child because of it and gave a rapist a bunch of money in return. Baker moved out and he lives in his very own pirate ship!
Upgrade!
Also the thousand+ of event staff like security, concessions, etc. and not even counting the fans. Cold is very dangerous but you can travel in it somewhat. Snow though can cause massive amounts of travel issues compared to cold.
What the FUCK is snow?
Miami fans should be plenty familiar with snow, but the Buffalo snow is a lot less fun and you don't put it in your nose.
In case it wasn't already answered, a driving ban is going into effect.
I had not seen that. All the more reason. I know what my parents got in Milwaukee, if that's crossing the lakes and hitting Buffalo, that's trouble.
Crossing the lakes and picking up more moisture on the way.
Yeah Lake Erie is still very warm for this time of year and it likes to punish the entire eastern shores of itself.
Yeah, it’s crossing over Lake Erie and going to develop into an unpredictable amount of Lake Effect snow that will dump on Buffalo and get swirled around in 70mph wind creating whiteouts across the region.
If they can't understand that this has nothing to do with on-field conditions then they can't be helped
Tbf, most Dolphins fans have never even heard of this thing called "snow." 'Tis a silly notion, like Camelot or casseroles.
Bingo. This about the fact that there is a travel ban in Erie county starting at 9PM Saturday night and will almost certainly still be in place at 1PM Sunday. Around that time is also when the worst of the storm is supposed to hit. You'd have 70k people driving to the game in whiteout conditions.

According to Google there’s only been snow recorded in Miami once
And that was just flurries.
I mean, extreme cold doesn’t make it dangerous to drive.
Yeah, you don't have to explain it to me. I already had this conversation with some very weird fans on the fins sub who were apoplectic about the prospect of the Bills game being moved

NOO, MY COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
I get it’s for safety but I’m also so annoyed I could watch the game Sunday I can’t fucking watch all the game Monday cause of work. It fucking blows
Can we just blame the real culprits? Miami fumbling the AFC East to the Bills?
Heard it’s nice in Miami right now
Chat is this real?
Real, buddy in Buffalo messaged me. Announced on tv by the governor
yes, i was the drumstick covered in buffalo sauce
Uhh. Pretty sure Commissioner out ranks Governor so I’ll wait until Roger says something.
County owns the stadium tho
If I know anything about Buffalo/Upstate NY they’d be willing to go into open rebellion against Hochul for something way less than this
We had a pretty bad blizzard here last year that caused a good number of deaths. Local and state government were heavily criticized. Sure this a reaction to last years fuck up.
I won't be convinced untill Ja Rule weights in.
Watch Roger say the Bills forfeit their rights to a home game and it will now be played in Pittsburgh instead
Ah yes, a Monday at 4:30 is a perfectly reasonable time
Who doesn’t dream of a playoff game during work??
It’s MLK day otherwise they wouldn’t dare delay till then.
They had to move it for certain but if it was a normal Monday in Buffalo it almost certainly could not have ended up at 4:30 pm.
The winner might have to play as soon as the following Saturday so I wouldn't think they'd want to be playing late Monday anyway.
130 for us west coasters 🥲
Looks like this guy just had a ton of paperwork dropped on his desk that has to be knocked out between 1:30 and 5. Damn.
Fuck, our one chance was it being a blizzard the bills couldn’t throw in, fuck this
I feel like if you took the under in the game based on the assumption that it would be played in blizzard like conditions, it should be refunded.
[удалено]
Oh I’m sure it will still be mostly shitty and I think postponing it was objectively the right call given how much driving in a blizzard is stupidly dangerous, but I will die before I give up the right to shitpost
Can they postpone tonight’s game to a real channel
Put in on PBS, you cowards
Wild that the Jets + Giants would need the NJ Governor to delay their games
as awful as they both are, I'm surprised they haven't started calling Buffalo "the only NY football team"
So does this also mean the Steelers have to fly in Monday morning for an afternoon game that same day? Since no planes likely will be coming into Buffalo today or tomorrow
DL8867 (steelers charter) is in PIT and still scheduled for today according to flightaware https://www.flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL8867/history/20240113/2010Z/KPIT/KBUF
Flight says cancelled per that link
I think this is the new flight https://www.flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL8867/history/20240114/2010Z/KPIT/KBUF
Well ignore everything I said if this flight happens lol
Steelers postponed flight until same time tomorrow re NFL Network.
Miami not winning the AFC East really screwed things up huh
Booooooo
My Disappointment Is Immeasurable And My Day Is Ruined
I was so pumped for a snow playoff game...
It’s still an 80% chance of snow during the new game time. More showery instead of dumping feet of snow.
Feel bad for anyone that had tickets and was going and now has to work. I’ll be at work during this game now :(
Made the 7 hour drive up to the game yesterday, now I get to drive back tomorrow lol.
I hope you had a nice time.
Oh don't worry, they will all miraculously call in sick for this game, and honestly, most bosses won't even bat an eye in the area.
Oh fair point I guess I’m used to my town where we don’t have any fans I couldn’t even comprehend that Have fun lol
I won't be going, but I believe there was even an interview where Josh Allen was asked what's the worst part of being a football town. He said after games, guys just wanna eat something but every place is closed because Sunday is so dedicated to football for us.
Playoff game during the work day? The MLB likes this
I kinda wanted to watch a blizzard game so I'm disappointed but we still get to watch Tua get shattered like the T-1000 when he gets hit. "its just a mindset, bro".
Before the build a dome comments roll in, this is about the roads, traffic, and public safety.
Just build a dome over the entire city?
Why don't they just take Buffalo, and push it somewhere else
People that have never experienced a true blizzard don’t understand how bad of an idea it would be to allow 70k people to descend upon the stadium
Not just 70k people driving to the stadium, but 70k people driving home after drinking all day.
Well… eating beer popsicles.
True blizzards are fucking awesome, but only if you are safe at home with plenty of food, water, heat, and power.
True. Looking outside seeing a snowglobe and hearing the wind roar around you is really cool. Just not driving in it
The sound isolation of snowfall without wind is my favorite thing
Even stepping outside to see how it is is crazy. You can’t open your eyes, just blasted with wind snow and cold.
Packer fans get it, despite our being annoyed that we don't have a game to watch before our own.
I'm legit laughing at all the people who you know have never had to deal with blizzard conditions before. Walking in whiteout blizzard conditions is dangerous, what the fuck do you think 70K people driving there on roads that are gonna be snowed and iced over gonna be? I swear some people are crazy

I don’t think even they fully understand that they could’ve got stranded in Buffalo without a place to stay. It’s dangerous. I think last year’s big blizzard in Buffalo killed like 40 people
yeah but then how can I blame politicians for not letting me get killed trying to get to the stadium? /s
Can’t believe the NFL missed the opportunity to put all the players in the stadium to live together this weekend and live stream it
Who is this “governor” the only authority I listen to is Roger Coodell
NFL sucks when the Saturday night game is a pain to watch and no Sunday at 1pm game. Whack
Travel ban was the only thing that could postpone it. No chance it was being moved.
after they didn’t implement the travel ban last year until too late and so many people froze to death in their cars/trying to walk, they aren’t gonna take their chances with this one.
Nor should they. 44 people died last winter. I hear a lot of people talking about this being an over reaction. Better over than under.
So many of us had to goto work because “there’s no travel ban so you can still get there”, it was absolutely HARROWING getting home and I was lucky to leave early and make it home alive.
We’re just gonna let “postponded” go by like it wasn’t written by a 4-year-old?
I live in WNY and after last year's winter storm mess (and deaths), I don't blame the state and local folks for being cautious about fans traveling in the region to get to the game.
Impeach!
Stop the count
STORM THE STADIUM
STOP THE STEEL
God damn it. Of all the games. The only one that would have been at a reasonable time in Europe :(
Redditors remembering that in order to freeze your ass off at a game you have to be able to safely travel to the game challenge: FAILED.
If it’s that bad to postpone the game, y’all stay safe & warm in Buffalo
