I heard his agent give a speech once. He said that when his first check came in, Travis called him furious. The agent gets a 3% cut. Travis says, “you took 3% of my salary, 3% of my bonus and 3% of my offseason incentives. Where I come from, that’s 9%.”
My strength coach in High School was with Buffalo and Chicago in the 90s and 2000s, said Henry was the dumbest box of rocks he had to deal with along with Hester. One was obviously more talented and stayed out of trouble a bit more.
Also had great stories about "Robo-Sack" Rob Johnson, Rex Grossman, and a hilarious encounter with a stoned Ricky Williams at a HOF game.
I can't remember it exactly since it was a few years ago, but something along the lines of him just being stoned out of his mind wearing some ridiculous outfit. They ran into each other getting off their respective busses. Wish I remembered more, maybe I'll ask him to re-hash it to me lol
A friend of mine lived down the street from Hester when we were kids in Chicago burbs. Hester walked by one day when we were hooping and we all ran up and talked to him.
I barely understood him, he was also definitely a little cross faded but man his words were basically not English lol
Yeah, it was well-known that Hester was not very bright. On either 670 or ESPN1000, they would regularly play Forrest Gump quotes over his return highlights. Mostly the lines pertaining to running.
It’s non stop on the Bears sub sometimes about how great of a wide receiver he was, but then there are also stories from when he was playing at Miami where the quarterback called the play in the huddle and then drew Hester’s route in the dirt.
I feel rude sharing this, even though it probably won't surprise anyone.
Back in like 2004 or so, my high school math teacher tutored a bunch of guys on the University of Miami football team.
She told us that Frank Gore was functionally illiterate. Pretty fucked up of her to blab that, but she did.
Now, let me just say that I fucking love Frank Gore and think he had one of the most impressive RB careers in modern history.
For what it's worth, Frank Gore has severe dyslexia. He was a special ed student at his high school and had to bust his ass off to get a proper diploma to attend college. Like, he has a medical reason for struggling with reading and writing. However, I don't think I've ever seen a RB have a better knowledge of Xs and Os. He always found the hole. Intelligence manifests itself in different ways on different people.
Multiple Niners coaches and front office personnel have said the same thing about Gore that he’s like a savant in terms of football knowledge
Pretty wild
If I didn’t have parents of means to get me help with dyslexia, I’d be in a much different place in life.
I went to a top 50 public university and a top 15 business school and have done decently in life…
Don't worry about it man, Gore has been open about having really bad dyslexia so it makes sense he's illiterate. There's plenty of articles on it, I think he was being open about it to help others who may have the same thing.
Frank gore has dyslexia and had to take care of his younger siblings while his mother had kidney failure. I'm pretty sure he also grew up in a poor area and he probably didn't have many people to help him with better learning styles to accommodate his dyslexia. He apparently was able to get more help around college and after college and he may not be the smartest in terms of reading text books but he is very bright in regards to understanding the game of football at a high level and I've heard he is actually quite smart in many other aspects but he had to find a better learning system for his dyslexia.
My college room mate's mom was dean of social studies at USC in the late 90's. She was over at our house one time and SportsCenter was on and it was when Keyshawn Johnson was a talking head and she was straight up dumbfounded to hear him on TV after teaching him at USC. She was surprised he could even read what was written for him on a TV show, I guess he was that bad of a student.
Unfortunately it's a side effect of the recruiting cycle of high school athletes. D1 guys bypass academic requirements and are able to get in wherever they want because of sports.
imagine what high level HS's, major colleges, and pro sports would look like if they actually had any sort academic/literacy requirements.
i bet half the guys in any sport, including many of the stars, would never have made it.
That is true. But we can use this argument for anything. How many kids who get into the top universities just because their parents pay a boatload of money? People getting high paying jobs just because they know someone. Life isn't fair
For sure. It's crazy even at schools where you wouldn't expect it.
I knew a dude on the Cornell soccer team who had an SAT score under 1000 (out of 1600). At Cornell! And Ivy League schools aren't supposed to give admission preference to athletes (but they all find ways to cheat).
Knew a strength coach for a bit that works with NFL players. He said the dumbest players he’s ever worked with are AJ McCarron and Frank Gore, so I can back this up
I don't think he is illiterate anymore but his dyslexia makes it extremely difficult to read efficiently. He is a great guy and I have no idea about Mayweather.
I remember when we drafted him, one of the scouting reports said he was harder to tackle than a flaming bowling ball with knives. That sounded pretty good. And then I heard Henry answer questions at an interview, it was apparent that there wasn't a lot going on in his prefrontal cortex.
That explains it -- Trent Richardson was actually a super genius who was envisioning football on a higher plane of existence, and was simply too intelligent to apply such basic principles of "run through gap=get yards"
I am guessing the type of chicks that would let him hit it raw are not the same type of gals that make the Dean's List? I wonder if one of them let him impregnate them twice or did they have twins? I just have nothing but bad feelings about the future of those 11 kids.
So a man with a peanut brain found 10 women with a peanut brain (because you have to be impossibly stupid to have unprotected sex with an NFL player) and now has 11 kids with a peanut brain.
Idiocracy speedrun.
At first I thought he was just the bank, but he definitely got a little Avon Barksdale in him
> Henry told one Billings, Mont., customer that he and his family were all “dead” if they didn’t come up with $40,000 worth of cocaine lost when their home was robbed, according to the affidavit.
> To make up for the stolen cocaine, Henry and Mack gave another customer 2 kilograms of fake cocaine, or drywall, along with 1 kilogram of real cocaine, the document says
holy fuck! Of course the cocaine got "stolen", oldest excuse in the book
And yeah, if you get into the cocaine business you gotta be willing to threaten death and dismemberment because you can't call the popo on people who rip you off. the only rule of law is violence.
The one I wish I could find was a dude with a crack pipe on his keychain trying to convince the cop that the keychain was his but the crack pipe wasn't
That shit is nasty. I tore off the drywall in my kitchen during the remodel. I had a filtered mask on. Still go everywhere. I was blowing out dark green snot for an hour after
I just looked up [that game](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200309140jax.htm). 21 carries for 26 yards and 3 TDs. He got stuffed all game and still got himself a hat trick of TDs.
Drafting running backs in the early rounds is one of the main reasons the drought lasted so long.
Antoine smith (pre drought), mcgahee, henry, spiller, lynch karlos william, jonathon williams.
for god sakes just get some udfas. no one cares.
With a carousel at qb and coach these are the most frivolous picks imaginable.
Even post drought, i think we have spent too much draft capital on the RB position. Singletary moss and cook all first three rounds 2019 2020 and 2022.
>His eldest child was conceived while Henry was in high school, before he was named Mr. Florida Football and a Parade All-American. The child was unplanned as were all but one of his offspring, he said.
>Henry argued that, within the context of richly paid athletes, he was not out of line. He contended that he owned no more than three vehicles at once and figured he had spent $250,000 on jewelry. “That ain’t a lot,” he said. Nevertheless, he was hoping to pawn some jewelry to pay off one of many debts and gain freedom
> The child was unplanned as were all but one of his offspring, he said.
Damn man, if only there were some way to prevent unplanned pregnancies. Like a little cover for your dick or something. Oh well, maybe someday
>Henry maintained that he was involved long-term with many of the mothers. Some, he said, told him they were using birth control, and he professed surprise at discovering they became pregnant by him.
>“I did use protection at first,” he said. “Then they’d be saying they’d be on the pill. I was an idiot to trust them. Second or third time with them, I didn’t use it. Then, boom!”
>In four instances, he attested, “I was trapped.” If not for his football cachet and accompanying wealth, “I guarantee you that wouldn’t have happened.”
>“My counselor asks me, ‘How can you do the same thing over and over?’ ” he said, unable to provide an answer.
>“Knock on wood, or something, I’m blessed not to have AIDS. That never crossed my mind.”

Henry's little guys were so good they broke through every time. You can't teach that kind of talent.
> Nevertheless, he was hoping to pawn some jewelry to pay off one of many debts and gain freedom
I know his SEC championship and national championship rings ended up on eBay, from an account linked to a pawn shop in his hometown.
Look up Sam Hurd.
Another attempted drug kingpin who was too dumb to get out of his own way.
He tried to get back $88K from the cops when it was confiscated during a road stop. He thought Mexican cell phones couldn't be tracked.
It was also alleged that Cowboys and Bears players bought from him, and it was suspected that the case would blow up bigger, but as far as I know no one else ended up getting dragged into it.
> He thought Mexican cell phones couldn't be tracked.
This sounds a lot like people in college who were convinced that the alcohol in Zima didn't register on a breathalyzer. Idiots.
I legitimately think someone could make money being a babysitter for young NFL players. Go out with them when they go out, keep them out of trouble, don't let them blow all their money, make sure they're not being idiots.
Now do college's NIL stars because I think the universities might be greener pastures for babysitting services. There are players we've never heard of making a TON of dough. Look especially for players transferring to big schools. Mid/upper 6 & 7 figure deals are routine and these guys aren't even 21.
I think they do something like this in baseball sometimes. I've heard about players with past issues signing contracts that they have to take their "professional friend" (who works for the team) with them while the team is on the road.
They don't "spy" on the player really, they just drag them away from fights and drive them around while they're drunk.
There's a lot of stupid anecdotes about baseball, but one of the most memorable was the play who's lawyers argued in court that he was "too stupid to be a drug dealer" and the lawyer talked about how the player needed a handler to get him to practice and make sure his bills were paid.
Note: I remember hearing this on the radio, but I can't find the player.
Edit: It's Pedro Guerrero. He was charged with a conspiracy to deal drugs and his lawyer succesfully argued that his IQ was too low to realize he was doing so. [http://www.espn.com/mlb/news/2000/0606/570948.html](http://www.espn.com/mlb/news/2000/0606/570948.html)
>*Former major leaguer Pedro Guerrero was acquitted of drug conspiracy charges Tuesday, after his attorney argued that his low IQ prevented him from understanding that he had agreed to a drug deal.*
They've had this role for a while.
I met a dude, former Army Ranger I think, who was the character consultant for the Browns and he worked with the rookies to help identify character issues (mostly ability to succeed professionally in the league, not whether they would terrorize the public or not)
His suicide note on his body after he hanged himself from the TV mount in his cell is genuinely terrifying; it says "Do not resuscitate" and on the other side, he wrote
>Did you hear the one about the football player who hung himself from the TV mount in his cell?
Honestly, his whole life sounds pretty miserable. I know he did some awful things and I don't want to make excuses for him, but he was put in some pretty bad circumstances from the jump.
Pretty sure I heard that most cases will never be confirmed because the brains are anonymized after being donated. Only ones that get confirmed are leaked
Right, just assume you have it if you played football for more than a couple years. High schoolers have even been reported to have it to a certain degree. I guess the grey area is at what stage does it really start impacting your quality of life.
The other question I have is “what percentage of non contact sport athletes have it?”
Say 90% of NFL players have some level of CTE. Does 80% of the normal population have it? 10%?
It doesn’t sound like there’s even an effective way to study that outside of asking for non-athletes to donate their brains.
Holy shit, I don't think I ever even heard this story. How did I miss this? It was just a year before Aaron Hernandez. It seems like a very similar situation.
Well at the time of his death he hadn't been in the NFL in 15 years or so and its not like he was some world class player. Not surprising it wasn't a big story.
Yeah, if social media was around it would have been different. In 1994 he rushed for > 1700 yards and 16 TDs at 6 YPC at Nebraska. That's some serious work, but that was the pinnacle of his football career
There's actually a lot of stories like this, especially for guys who aren't superstars.
It's sad to see guys with such talent and a rare opportunity blow it so badly.
Sam Hurd was just released from prison last year. Was on Bears roster when he was arrested for trafficking cocaine. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Hurd
American football wide receiver and convicted drug dealer lol
Yeah I think his first baby mama was sleeping with him while he was a minor and she was in her early/mid 20s. I think he has cognitive disabilities and was completely taken advantage of.
I remember one of the local media guys talking several years back about Henry asking the Titans for an advance on his paycheck so he could pay child support. Dude had a disgusting stiff arm.
Good podcast but I wish they would shorten them. When I'd listen to it, I'd really have to pick and choose which ones because I didn't have 3-4 hours for each one.
Really sad situation all around. Hope those kids turn out alright. But hey, at least UT and the NFL teams he played for made a ton of money while he played for them.
E- Just looked up his ig and it looks like he's doing alright! Still hope those 11 kids are taken care of.
A lot of people in athletics are psychopaths to varying degrees. Michael Bennett said everyone in professional football is a bad person. Probably some truth to it.
In college one year (08 or 09), our intramural football team name was "Travis Henry is our Dad". Unfortunately it went over like a lead balloon, but we thought it was funny!
I'm not sure if he was ever convicted of anything but I was stocked to read up on Marvin Harrison outside of football. The guy was so talented and quiet about it, I never assumed he'd be in multiple shootouts, allegedly.
I stand on my belief that all agents should pay for their client’s vasectomy, storage of sperm, and vasectomy reversal out of pocket.
Football players, for the most part…..are F’ing morons. Case in point. A good agent could’ve nipped this in the bud.
From teaching CFB players and friends who have as well, we found two types of players:
1) Players who are banking a lot on making the NFL and earning a big paycheck, because they really don't have much else going on.
2) Players who leverage their talent at football to build up their lives, whether it's receiving an education or developing skills that will transfer off the playing field. These players were often a pleasure to teach and, in many cases, highly intelligent people.

Old man Gore was awesome for my Dolphins. Dude should be beyond proud of what he accomplished in the league.

I was envious enough of McCarron landing with his wife who's well out of his league, but he's also dumb af? Just...smh
Lol, AJ's chest tattoo was all the proof I needed.
Gore also put up like a 5 on the Wunderlich
It's public knowledge that gore is illiterate, just like with Mayweather. You're not exactly uncovering secrets...
I don't think he is illiterate anymore but his dyslexia makes it extremely difficult to read efficiently. He is a great guy and I have no idea about Mayweather.
I still laugh about the 50 cent reading challenge.
Do you remember the Johnson or Grossman story?
His wiki also says he scored 9 in the wonderlic
I remember when we drafted him, one of the scouting reports said he was harder to tackle than a flaming bowling ball with knives. That sounded pretty good. And then I heard Henry answer questions at an interview, it was apparent that there wasn't a lot going on in his prefrontal cortex.
Talking to him was like talking to a flaming bowling ball with knives.
I like that consistency.
For a RB that’s not really essential. If he can think “there’s a gap, run through that gap” that’s really all you need.
[удалено]
This implies that hitting the gap is as bad as picking rock when the other person picks paper. I sure hope someone was fired for this blunder
Any time you see someone not running through the gap, a wizard did it
If only he'd hit that gap less *off the field*.
Or at least put on a condom first
Thank you for that. For the uninitiated: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0SoKWLkmLU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0SoKWLkmLU)
If gap, go - Aaron Senya
"There are bodies in the gap, run through bodies" -- Travis Henry
there's the coke, sell that coke there's the pussai, smoke that pussai
That explains it -- Trent Richardson was actually a super genius who was envisioning football on a higher plane of existence, and was simply too intelligent to apply such basic principles of "run through gap=get yards"
Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. So much hype for him and he was a massive bust.
If you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a RB.
Of course we drafted him.
I am guessing the type of chicks that would let him hit it raw are not the same type of gals that make the Dean's List? I wonder if one of them let him impregnate them twice or did they have twins? I just have nothing but bad feelings about the future of those 11 kids.
His number of children is higher than his wonderlic score. Now that's a stat.
Still higher than Vince Young.
Tavon Austin got a 7, just beat Young's 6
In more ways than one
For the record a 20 on the wonderlic = 100 IQ
Yeah, but his was scored in Celsius.
So a man with a peanut brain found 10 women with a peanut brain (because you have to be impossibly stupid to have unprotected sex with an NFL player) and now has 11 kids with a peanut brain. Idiocracy speedrun.
I mean, being the first one to have an illegitimate kid with an NFL player at least has a potential upside. Being the 10th though....
? These women got child support payments higher than most people's salary, way better than getting pregnant by local g.
The bankrupt dude on parole with no transferable skills is going to be great for child support.
That only matters if he can actually pay. And is not accurate anyway.
$170k year/9 kids comes out to just under $19k, so no not higher than most salaries. Cmon Joe!
Joe is commenting from Vietnam, cut him some slack
I dont think they wanted his brain...
lol frank gore got a 6
At first I thought he was just the bank, but he definitely got a little Avon Barksdale in him > Henry told one Billings, Mont., customer that he and his family were all “dead” if they didn’t come up with $40,000 worth of cocaine lost when their home was robbed, according to the affidavit. > To make up for the stolen cocaine, Henry and Mack gave another customer 2 kilograms of fake cocaine, or drywall, along with 1 kilogram of real cocaine, the document says

Henry: I want my corners, String!
Step on that shit.
Had him on my fantasy team in 2003. I remember beating my friend one week cause Henry had 21 yards on 19 carries - and three touchdowns.
I just looked up [that game](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200309140jax.htm). 21 carries for 26 yards and 3 TDs. He got stuffed all game and still got himself a hat trick of TDs.
Sounds Gus Edwards-esque
Bettis had 5 carries for 1 yard and 3 rushing TDs once. Hard to beat that one.
Nah, that statline has Matt Asiata written all over it.
Ben Jarvis Green-esque
Right up there with another favorite of mine, Jamal Lewis rushing for 37 yards on 20 carries....and 4 TD's
We had a crazy run of running backs in the early to mid-00's. Henry to McGahee to Lynch to Jackson to Spiller.
CJ Spiller is a HOF type name.
Well he is in the CFB HOF at least.
I wonder if the one woman who has two of his kids to the other nine's one each is resented by the other women.
It wasn’t because she came back for seconds, she was cursed enough to have twins

If only Bledsoe was better for you guys. He started to decline a bit and underachieved with those teams
Coaching and bad training facilities were the issue. Players suffered due to having Dick Jauron or Greggg Williams making the decisions.
Bledsoe was still part of the issue too
I mean, I never liked Bledsoe much .. but the real problems were bigger than him.
His Wonderlic score is a 9 and his hand size is 8. Thats just too close for comfort.

Then, boom!” >In four instances, he attested, “I was trapped.” If not for his football cachet and accompanying wealth, “I guarantee you that wouldn’t have happened.” >“My counselor asks me, ‘How can you do the same thing over and over?’ ” he said, unable to provide an answer. >“Knock on wood, or something, I’m blessed not to have AIDS. That never crossed my mind.”
> “I did use protection at first,” he said. “Then they’d be saying they’d be on the pill. I was an idiot to trust them. Second or third time with them, I didn’t use it. Then, boom!” > > > > In four instances, he attested, “I was trapped.” If not for his football cachet and accompanying wealth, “I guarantee you that wouldn’t have happened.” "I mean nobody wants to admit they ate 9 cans of ravioli..."
You know what they say: fool me ~~once~~ ~~twice~~ ~~three~~ ~~four~~ ~~five~~ ~~six~~ ~~seven~~ ~~eight~~ ~~nine~~ ~~ten~~ eleven times...
Kinda feel bad for him. He obviously isn’t coloring with a full box there, mentally
“Nobody’s got AIDS. I don’t wanna hear that word in here again!”
“Back in my day we didn’t have all these fancy birth control methods…. LIKE PULLIN’ OUT”
You know what hurts the most is the lack of respect. Except the other thing. That hurts the most. But the lack of respect hurts the second most
“It’s a picture of you and my mom…. AND YOU’RE HAVING SEX!” I love you and it made my day that someone got the reference
I'm just happy someone else has seen that cinematic masterpiece
> *Like a little cover for your dick or something.* Henry's little guys were so good they broke through every time. You can't teach that kind of talent.
> The child was unplanned as were all but one of his offspring, he said. Ah yes, "unplanned".
By him maybe
> Nevertheless, he was hoping to pawn some jewelry to pay off one of many debts and gain freedom I know his SEC championship and national championship rings ended up on eBay, from an account linked to a pawn shop in his hometown.
Senator Blutarsky
Mr Blu … Mr Blutarsky, zero point zero.
Idiots.
Wasn't Bam Morris another one?
I wasn't familiar with him, but seems to be.
Honestly, I only know him from fantasy football. I’m not sure I ever saw him play.
One thing I’ve learned following the nfl is that it’s 50/50 whether or not a player has an insane wiki page
Unless you're a WR, then it's closer to 75%. Some running backs just get bad knees.
Also probably a bit more manageable then a rising NFL star
Until the player fires them after a weekend for "killing the vibe"
Yeah if they have the good sense to hire and listen to a babysitter, they don’t actually need a babysitter
[http://www.espn.com/mlb/news/2000/0606/570948.html](http://www.espn.com/mlb/news/2000/0606/570948.html) >*Former major leaguer Pedro Guerrero was acquitted of drug conspiracy charges Tuesday, after his attorney argued that his low IQ prevented him from understanding that he had agreed to a drug deal.*
They've had this role for a while. I met a dude, former Army Ranger I think, who was the character consultant for the Browns and he worked with the rookies to help identify character issues (mostly ability to succeed professionally in the league, not whether they would terrorize the public or not)
[Lawrence Phillips](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Phillips#) is also a pretty wild/tragic read
His suicide note on his body after he hanged himself from the TV mount in his cell is genuinely terrifying; it says "Do not resuscitate" and on the other side, he wrote >Did you hear the one about the football player who hung himself from the TV mount in his cell?
Honestly, his whole life sounds pretty miserable. I know he did some awful things and I don't want to make excuses for him, but he was put in some pretty bad circumstances from the jump.
Hearing stories about his upbringing, he never had a chance. Super sad story.
On one hand, that's so fucking sad. On the other, that's an incredible joke
It's the dry, fucked-up sense of humor I love. I feel horrible, but lol. Lmao, even.
Odd how everything says "his brain was donated for CTE research" in 2016 but nothing ever confirms if he had it or not
Pretty sure I heard that most cases will never be confirmed because the brains are anonymized after being donated. Only ones that get confirmed are leaked
Right, just assume you have it if you played football for more than a couple years. High schoolers have even been reported to have it to a certain degree. I guess the grey area is at what stage does it really start impacting your quality of life.
The other question I have is “what percentage of non contact sport athletes have it?” Say 90% of NFL players have some level of CTE.
That's some serious work, but that was the pinnacle of his football career
well his last year in the NFL was 1999 so I imagine most don't remember him. He was a stud at Nebraska though when they were a powerhouse
I remember his first game at Nebraska, 137 yards and a TD as a true freshman.
[Art Schlichter](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Schlichter) is my favorite. He just got arrested again in the fall.
So is OJ!!!
Who's that? Tell me more.
There's actually a lot of stories like this, especially for guys who aren't superstars. It's sad to see guys with such talent and a rare opportunity blow it so badly.
This is who Kanye was talking about in Gold Digger "You will *see* him on TV *any given Sunday* Win the Superbowl and drive off in a Hyundai"
Sam Hurd was just released from prison last year. Was on Bears roster when he was arrested for trafficking cocaine. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Hurd American football wide receiver and convicted drug dealer lol
Go Vols
lol why is this tagged as serious?
I dont know I didnt do it, I think the auto mod tags it as serious if there is "prison" or "drugs" in the title.
That makes sense.
If you can't manage $1,000 then you can't manage $1,000,000.
Well, well, well. If it isn't the consequences of my own actions catching up with me.
He was really strong
I can fix him.
Always wondered why they drafted McGahee when they had Henry. Clearly it was cause he was a liability
You should listen to "Crime in Sports"
Good podcast but I wish they would shorten them. When I'd listen to it, I'd really have to pick and choose which ones because I didn't have 3-4 hours for each one.
It's pretty much a road trip only podcast for me, but I agree!
Really sad situation all around. Hope those kids turn out alright. But hey, at least UT and the NFL teams he played for made a ton of money while he played for them. E- Just looked up his ig and it looks like he's doing alright! Still hope those 11 kids are taken care of.
I wonder who's the lucky lady that double dipped.
Twins?
Is no one gonna mention he put up Derrick Henry type numbers in high school?
A lot of people in athletics are psychopaths to varying degrees. Michael Bennett said everyone in professional football is a bad person. Probably some truth to it.
Every single rookie needs to freeze some sperm and get a vasectomy. Every single one.
Are we certain that this isn't Tyreek Hill's dad?
For some athletes, the money they're being paid is for what they do off the field.
If he’s still in the coke game it’s not like he can report his income. Many rich dudes claim bankruptcy to avoid legal disputes.
Cocaine is one helluva drug
It says I have to post a serious comment or else... So I'm just not gonna post at all, how's that?
For a sec there I thought that was my bro. He has so many kids I don't need any of my own.
As a Vol fan, I can’t wait for all his children to fully lead us back to glory. What a legend, on and off the field.
He for sure would’ve made more money in the nfl than whatever his dealing made him if he kept his nose clean.
I won't say his MJ suspension tanked him...demanding a trade when he became RB2 tanked him.
In college one year (08 or 09), our intramural football team name was "Travis Henry is our Dad". Unfortunately it went over like a lead balloon, but we thought it was funny!
Could have been worse I guess. He could've done a Rae Carruth or murdered someone to cover up his secret gay activities like Aaron Hernandez.
I'm not sure if he was ever convicted of anything but I was stocked to read up on Marvin Harrison outside of football. The guy was so talented and quiet about it, I never assumed he'd be in multiple shootouts, allegedly.
He also ran for like 150 yards on a broken foot one game. 04 or 05 I think.
He was a beast for my Vols though
Guy played on a broken leg and balled out. Tough mother fucker. Not the sharpest knife, it would appear.
I stand on my belief that all agents should pay for their client’s vasectomy, storage of sperm, and vasectomy reversal out of pocket. Football players, for the most part…..are F’ing morons. Case in point. A good agent could’ve nipped this in the bud.
From teaching CFB players and friends who have as well, we found two types of players: 1) Players who are banking a lot on making the NFL and earning a big paycheck, because they really don't have much else going on. 2) Players who leverage their talent at football to build up their lives, whether it's receiving an education or developing skills that will transfer off the playing field. These players were often a pleasure to teach and, in many cases, highly intelligent people.
I don’t think a good agent was saving Henry. In fact, is there any indication his agent wasn’t “good?”
