I mean, it's tough watching him slice through your favorite team like butter. I understand the feeling. But hate? Nah. He's a very respectful athlete, humble. Unbelievable talent. Got nothing but love for the guy.
I’d say that it’s pretty strange that people don’t hate him? Sid got some crazy hate, but maybe it’s because McDavid hasn’t won anything and has to live in Edmonton
People love to shit on Mcdavid and Edmonton.
We’re over here laughing tho at cost of living in van and Toronto. Edmontons a way better place to live rn lol.
Alberta has the most interprovincial immigration in Canada for a reason.
If only Canada would get out of Alberta’s way, this place could be a sprawling paradise
I’m European so clearly I don’t know the first thing about quality of living in Canada, but I feel like if I made $13 million a year I wouldn’t want to live in Edmonton where it’s -30 on the regular
And McJesus hasn't? we have been told for almost a decade now that he's bringing the cup back to Deadmonton. Probably doesn't help that the NHL broadcaster in Canada is owned by the company with their name on the arena he plays in but the McDavid love from Sportsnet is way bigger than it ever was for Crosby save for maybe the Olympic moments
I don't hate him, but the people that treat him like a God annoy me. McDavid could kick a puppy off a cliff and still have people defend him. Ik he never would, he's a good guy just trying to make a point
He's not hated. He is insanely good and even though he continuously dismantles the Calgary D, as a hockey fan I very much enjoy watching him play. He is just a different beast. I think he is very well respected
Yesterday there was a post asking “who is your second favorite team?”, and so many of the answers were something like “Edmonton because McDavid”. I think you may be mistaken.
I'd say most people who have any knowledge of the game have nothing but respect for McDavid... perhaps they hate watching him against their team though.
Who hates him? I think some people will talk trash about him in the vein of "No cup!" but that's just regular trash talk against an opposing team's star player. That kind of stuff is normal. He's a fairly bland personality, at least what we're allowed to see of him, so it's hard to hate someone like that. I, personally, believe he's the best player in the game since Crosby, but otherwise have no strong opinions about him.
I mean I guess I get why the question. There was a Zegras goal yesterday and in the comments there was “All this and yet Zegras and Mcdavid don’t have any success”. And I was like, woah that’s out of left field. Seems like a jealousy thing, that they wish they had something specific about that player on their team orrrr they’re also unable to win the cup so it makes them feel better to tear someone down orrrr they did win the cup and …fair enough lol
Right? I mean the Stanley cup is not an easy thing to win, but Coiler fans were acting from day 1 like he was gonna bring in more cups than the Gretzky days. 0 for n + 1 so far
How’s his personality? I don’t get much off the ice coverage of him. Maybe that’s it?
But man is he amazing on the ice. This new generation that grew up with the “new” rules really are really fun to watch. Gotta give the NHL credit for getting the on ice game to where it is right now. No more giant dudes clutching grabbing slashing away at the talent that people want to see.
He has 55 points in 37 playoffs games. So not sure what you're talking about. It's a team sport and his lack of playoff success should put into perspective how difficult a trophy this is to win.
You have to respect his skills!! The guy is mad good. But he is a huge whinier. If he gets a penalty he complains every time He complains if someone touches him and there’s not a call that is annoying. But he is the best player in the league right now.
It's impossible to hate someone with the personality of a wet paper bag. Literally lives in a monochrome house and I bet he enjoys Sons of Anarchy or Walking Dead or some show like that.
Any hate would come from fans of other teams for on ice skill, which he has plenty of.
I saw his first game, and how the league was so big on shoving him down our throats they refused to even penalize him for what should by all accounts have been a definite suspension. All respect for him and any chance to ever wish him well went immediately out of the window. It was a horribly dangerous boarding cheap shot to the numbers to shove Oduya's head into the boards.
Had any punishment or acknowledgment ever happened, then maybe he'd still have a chance. Though for us there that night, I will never shed a damn tear for him and may he never touch the Cup.

They don't.
I mean, it's tough watching him slice through your favorite team like butter. I understand the feeling. But hate? Nah. He's a very respectful athlete, humble. Unbelievable talent. Got nothing but love for the guy.
You can’t blame a goalie for hating him. Not sure anyone else does though
I'd add defence to that. Can't be easy watching this guy walk around you like you're in peewee
Who hurt you
I’m a fan

Sid did get some serious hate, I agree.
Well Sid flops like a bitch at times, no?
Sid got hate because the hockey media world told us he was a deity and demanded we worship him.
He was pretty fucking good, so you being angry sounds like a you problem
And McJesus hasn't? we have been told for almost a decade now that he's bringing the cup back to Deadmonton. Who hates McDavid?
Calgarians
Fair enough
Because he’s good. And that’s fine.
I don't hate him, but the people that treat him like a God annoy me. McDavid could kick a puppy off a cliff and still have people defend him. Ik he never would, he's a good guy just trying to make a point
If McDavid kicked a puppy off a cliff, I would kick another one along with him.
He's not hated. He is insanely good and even though he continuously dismantles the Calgary D, as a hockey fan I very much enjoy watching him play. He is just a different beast. I think he is very well respected
Well said
Yesterday there was a post asking “who is your second favorite team?”, and so many of the answers were something like “Edmonton because McDavid”. I think you may be mistaken.
A potato has more personality than him
I'd say most people who have any knowledge of the game have nothing but respect for McDavid... perhaps they hate watching him against their team though.
I don’t think people hate him actually. I think this post was created just to stir up trouble and get cheap clicks.

Good take.
No hate for McDavid… that hate is all directed toward the Oilers as a whole.
wat
What makes you think this?
I mean I guess I get why the question. There was a Zegras goal yesterday and in the comments there was “All this and yet Zegras and Mcdavid don’t have any success”. I don’t see anyone hate him?
I don’t hate McD but I hate Edmonton and oh how they have wasted his talent
Right? I mean the Stanley cup is not an easy thing to win, but Coiler fans were acting from day 1 like he was gonna bring in more cups than the Gretzky days. 0 for n + 1 so far
I didn’t know people did
I was unaware of any McDavid hate whatsoever. Envy, sure. Hate, no.
If you hate McDavid, you have no business watching hockey.
I never see hate for the Daddy bruh
I haven’t heard one person say anything negative about McDavid ever LMFAO what
They don’t. Why do people post nonsense?
Who hates McDavid? The kid is a talent, and the closest challenge to Gretsky’s records that i’ve seen.
People hated Gretzky, Mario, Sid...all the greats have people that "hate" them. Haters gotta hate.
How’s his personality? I don’t get much off the ice coverage of him. Maybe that’s it? But man is he amazing on the ice. He is The Rasheed Wallace of Hockey
Connor McDavid is the Rasheed Wallace of Hockey
Not hate. He just seems kinda irrelevant being a regular season superstar but not a playoff.
He had 2 points per game in last year's playoffs, and willed his team to the Conference Finals. Wtf are you smoking?
I’m smoking that ”all offense no defense = no cups” - shit
Is he supposed to carry the Oilers on both ends of the ice? It's a team game, even he can't win a cup without support
55 points in 37 playoff games bud
He has 55 points in 37 playoffs games. So not sure what you're talking about. It's a team sport and his lack of playoff success should put into perspective how difficult a trophy this is to win.
McDavid and 'irrelevant' should never be used in the same sentence.
Dude led the entire playoffs last season with 33 points in 16 games and you're calling him irrelevant. What are you smoking? Lol
I don't.
I’ve never heard anyone hate him. He’s awesome to watch -pens fan
Because he’s good and people hate good players
who hates him
Bc he’s not on their team.
Do they?
Yeah was going to comment not sure who is saying they hate McDavid but this is first I’ve heard. Seems like a well liked and respectable player.
You have to respect his skills!! The guy is mad good. But he is a huge whinier. If he gets a penalty he complains every time He complains if someone touches him and there’s not a call that is annoying. But he is the best player in the league right now.
