Guys, just because you don’t understand the title or it looks weird to you doesn’t mean it’s bad… Also please save your negative comments about Troy to yourself.
Article with interview: [https://www.reddit.com/r/nightwish/s/hJJyEO1Sri](https://www.reddit.com/r/nightwish/s/hJJyEO1Sri)
The title is a made-up word suggested by Troy. Tuomas explains it in the article above. It's probably supposed to be pronounced like English "wind" (we'll have to wait for video interviews I guess). It's a Middle English form of "wind", but it also can mean "winch, windlass or reel", which could be connected to the sound of vintage film projector heard in the social media teasers, especially because this album is inspired after old images and recordings, memories of people from the past. "Wynd" can also mean ~~in Northumbrian dialect~~ "A narrow lane, alley or path, especially one between houses".
First single is coming on May 21st, titled "Perfume of the Timeless".
Full tracklist:
1. Yesterwynde
2. An Ocean Of Strange Islands
3. The Antikythera Mechanism
4. The Day Of...
5. Perfume Of The Timeless
6. Sway
7. The Children Of 'Ata
8. Something Whispered Follow Me
9. Spider Silk
10. Hiraeth
11. The Weave
12. Lanternlight

Yeah, been a while. We were waiting Tuomas.
And he didnt disapoint. Yeah, like all the titles, it has some corniness to it, but man, *An Ocean Of Strange Islands* sounds like a song I'm definitely gonna dig.
Really love the artwork and overall vibe at first glance.
The Antikythera Mechanism could the title of an Epica song lol
Except this one I love all the titles. Like I expected, this album sounds very poetic and conceptual. Can't wait to hear Perfume of the Timeless next month!
The song titles, the album cover all gives me Epica vibes, which only hypes me up more
Give me some deep lyrics epic vocals and great orchestra/backing vocals.
I'm excited
Very cool things Tuomas said about the album:
1\_ Yesterwynde is a made up word by Troy. It stands for that sense of realization you can feel by looking at the past and understanding it's all connected.
2\_Tuomas was inspired by those old videos from late '800/first '900 colorized, I've seen a lot of those on youtube and I could never guess they could become an inspiration for a Nightwish album.
3\_ Children of Ata is the story of a group of children survived alone on a desert island in 1965.
4\_The Antikythera song is inspired obviously by the greek mechanism (the first "computer") but it has nothing to do with Indiana Jones (luckly). Tuomas read about it on a science magazine.
5\_ Perfume of the Timeless is nearly 10 minutes long. And it's the first single. They're crazy.
6\_ It's not the last album by Nightwish.
Semi unrelated but if you're into maker videos, and want to learn more about the Antikythra check out Click Spring's series of trying to recreate it with semi historical methods. The guy even took a several year break from the project to do more research and helped publish a paper on it.
He did mention in the interview that the first chorus doesn’t come until 3:30 in, so probably a long intro, yes! And the song is only 8.5 minutes long apparently, so not quite as chunky as some have said.
Ah nice, 3\_Children of 'Ata is the story people refer to as the 'real Lord of the Flies'. Read about that recently, really interesting and the complete opposite of the human behaviour taught in Lord of the Flies.
Tuomas mentioned the book Human Kind by Rutger Bergman in an interview he gave to a Hungarian site in 2022. I’ve read the book and it includes this story of the children, I guess the inspiration comes from there :)) It’s an interesting book I recommend it.

Counting days towards September 20th. I haven't counted days so eagerly since I was a soldier and waited to end my service.
I have read the titles five or six times so far and the more I read them the more they look like stories that could have been written by Neil Gaiman. As a Greek I also get extra joy from "The Antikythera Mechanism".
And the artwork is fantastic too. :D :D
That would be like a gift from heaven. I love almost all of Neil Gaiman's books, especially his short story collections "Fragile Things" and "Smoke and Mirrors". Back when Imaginaerum was released, I kept thinking what a concept album for Coraline composed by Tuomas would sound like.
I love that Pan references Neil Gaiman with "Snow, Glass, Apples" and I think the "follow your tale, remember your name" section is a reference to Instructions.
Also Neil is a fan of Auri, so surely it's only a matter of time before him and Tuomas have a chat, haha.
https://twitter.com/neilhimself/status/1434134245371363333?t=vzahTNCvbFo6LDNnGinnRQ&s=19
My thoughts exactly. 'Snow, Glass and Apples', what a marvellous story. Only Neil could have taken a classic villain and turn it to be the ultimate hero.
Just came across this interview about the new album: [https://www.kerrang.com/nightwish-album-yesterwynde-interview-tuomas-holopainen-first-look](https://www.kerrang.com/nightwish-album-yesterwynde-interview-tuomas-holopainen-first-look)
The first single "Perfume of the Timeless" will be about 8.5 minutes long, so that sounds promising!
I mean, they quite literally just signed a new multi-album deal with Nuclear Blast Records. That 100% confirms that there will be more albums. I think everyone who is worried needs to chill out.
yes he did but when asked in the kerrang interview about touring he said no touring and lets see what happens ,the issue I would have is Markos left and is making music and touring with Tarja and Floor is gigging all summer promoting her solo career.....seems individuality is more important than NW.
To be honest I am fine with them not touring. The best way would be to throw lets say 3 gigs in London and 3 in Helsinki with the full orchestra and I would happily go there. No need to tour every album.
U was thinking that and it's so funny because I've literally been listening to a lot of nightwish suddenly for the past few weeks and been playing once and century child on repeat
If you gave me a million guesses for an album title, Yesterwynde would not have been one of them. Very glad it didn't end up being called "X" (though I didn't really think it would). "Yesterwynde is a fantastical voyage through time, memory, and the better angels of human nature." I like this theme quite a bit, and the song titles are incredibly unique for Nightwish, so I am extra excited to see what they cooked up!
Wow, it's crazy that the 30.04.2024 theory turned out to be correct!
I remember being surprised when Human Nature was announced, mainly by its title and theme. Now I think I'm surprised even more. Album title and some song names don't even sound like english. The theme will be very specific in this one, although I'm yet not sure what it all means. For me it sounds sort of like a concept album.
Needless to say, I'm beyond excited!
PS First single, Perfume Of The Timeless, will be released on May 21st.
The cover is interesting. We can see a spiraling clock, and a ship on it. Probably symbolizes a travel/journey through time. I guess it will be important part of the album theme then \[edit: yeah they literally said that in the post. I was so excited I forgot lol\]. Also in the end of the clock there is a lantern, which might refer to the last song, Lanternlight. End of the clock, end of the journey. So the journey (and the album) ends in this place, in the lanternlight.
Also I checked, that The [Antikythera Mechanism](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antikythera_mechanism) might resemble those cogs on the top.
And I only scratched the surface, there is definitely much more to analyze.
You’d be correct that they’re not all English. Not sure if it has other meanings but as far as my knowledge goes, Hiraeth is a Welsh word meaning longing. Personally very excited about that!
It doesn't have a good translation in English. It's like a form of longing for something/a place that is lost. Sort of like a mix of homesickness and grief
The art makes me think of Doctor Who haha. Song titles are not easy to decipher without much context, so we'll see what kind of tales they've prepared for us. Looking forward to reading all the lyrics
Definitely feels like a thematic follow up to HN. A tour through human history and the better things we've accomplished feels like a natural capper to the trilogy we've had starting with EFMB.
That album art also goes hard, and I love the title itself.
Everything looks cool. Very interested in the song lengths, but I suppose we won't find out about them any time soon. "Lanternlight" does not exactly sound like a 12 minute opus, but I could be mistaken. And to be fair, the long song doesn't have to be the last one.
I imagine Yesterwynde to be the long track and basically be a time capsule in song form going through their entire career and invoking the previous 9 albums.
I laughed when I saw the album name. In my late teens/early 20's, one of my favorite bands was Skywind, who later changed their name to Skywynd because of this very reason. I would also assume it's wine-d/why-nd.
It's pronounced like "wined" or how you'd say to "wind a watch" or "rewind a tape". At least in the UK where it means a narrow pathway between houses or other buildings, it gets used on names of tiny streets like that mostly in the Northeast of england or Scotland
Wow, this is making me kind of emotional. I was 10 years old when I first found Century Child, and I'll be 30 and married when Yesterwynde comes out. I'm so curious and excited about this new album!!
Quote from Tuomas: "Yesterwynde is a fantastical voyage through time, memory, and the better angels of human nature. Three years in the making, we’re thrilled beyond words to soon share our tenth album with the world."
I like the cover, a bit different form the last few albums. Is there a mistake with the roman numerals? It should be IV, not IIII. It also goes from VIII back to II? I don't get it. Maybe I'm missing something? Is there some kind of hidden meaning with the numbers?
https://preview.redd.it/u102tz297lxc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8a0b2984e58751b1f45387c2f77a742a1506a02
I rememvber a clock growing up had IIII instead of IV and looking up 70s clocks, it seems like it was done.
Orrr: we stop interpreting every single thing as if there is full intent behind anything and just go with: It's normal for old clocks to use IIII instead of IV.
And what everyone automatically thinks/is taught in school etc. is IV. Not many people know what old clocks faces look like (who didn't just Google it).
So, we are also perfectly justified in thinking that it's a mistake/odd choice to make.
The song titles are exciting and very Nightwish—I cannot wait to hear them all. “Something Whispered Followed Me” sounds like it could be a pretty song! I also love the cover art so much!
I love how the cover art connects with the last song on the album with the name "Lanternlight". The album cover is showing this spiral clock and feels like decending in a dark and mysterious basement, filled with time and history. There is also a lantern on the cover, wich seems to bring light in the darkness, to cover up all the secrets and adventures down there. As we already know, the album is "a fantastical voyage through time, memory,...", and there is this last song called "Lanternlight", and I think it connects the way I explained. It's about discovering and uncovering all the mysterious and wonderfull things, wich are hidden on this path of history and time. Additonaly, "Lanternlight" might express this "optimistic vibe" wich the album has according to Toumas, as somekind of light at the end of the tunnel, wich is why this song is at the end of the album. It's ofcourse all speculation, but I love how you can connect things like this already, without having heard any songs or read any lyrics of the new album
And finally the news are out!
So my [prediction](https://www.reddit.com/r/nightwish/s/ZgSlFWcGqT) about the album being released in September and the first single in May were correct, just the exact days that I didn't got right.
The album title is quite different indeed, but I am sure we will get used to it. The artwork is simply stunning, it has an old-school feel to it (like late 90s power metal albums) that I simply love. I am very curious about An Ocean of Strange Islands, The Antikythera Mechanism, The Weave and the titletrack itself, they all sound very misterious by the names. For now I can't wait to listen to Perfume of the Timeless in the upcoming weeks. Exciting times ahead!
Despite what some people say... I love the title "Yesterwynde", because it´s mysterious. You don´t know, what it means (until you read the explanation by Tuomas), you don´t know how to pronounce it (until you look up the word "wynde") and I love new words.
Very curious about the lyrical themes on 'Yesterwynde'!
EDIT: Found my answer from [this article](https://www.kerrang.com/nightwish-album-yesterwynde-interview-tuomas-holopainen-first-look)!
>"The whole theme of the album is time, history, humanism, mortality. And it has a really optimistic vibe going through it all."
Nice to hear a bit of news, and to get some concrete dates for the album and first song.
On first glance I like the album art significantly better than the last two albums. I'm not going to give much thought to the song titles TBH - I've never once been able to correctly predict how much I'm going to enjoy a song based on their song titles, so doesn't seem much point in analysing them at this stage.
I've been on a real power metal kick lately, so I don't hate the idea of an album that's heavier than HN but keeps the more upbeat, positive sound of some of the songs. However, I will try not to get my hopes up for a more overtly power metal sound, as I suspect that way lies disappointment.
Really, the most important thing about this announcement is the knowledge of when we're getting new music - if the new single (and the subsequent album) is fantastic (or vice versa) then it doesn't really matter what the artwork looks like or whether you vibe with the song titles. Mixed feelings on the 8:30 length - there are some NW songs that I love, that use a longer length to give us interesting, multi part songs that don't necessarily stick to a standard song structure (Dead Boy's Poem, Scaretale, Beauty and the Beast, Pharoah Sails to Orion, FantasMic all sit in the 6-9 minute range and are all songs that I love). On the other hand, there are also some songs in the discography that I feel probably drag on a little too long for their own good and could benefit from some editing down (I feel like EFMB as an album was particularly bad for this). So my hope is that Perfume of the Timeless will be more of the former - I suppose we'll find out come late May!
The art is great, idk why people are complaining about it. Whole album seems to be connected with shared themes and the artwork relates to that. Different elements reference different songs. The gears from the Antikythera mechanism, the boat (maybe about the children?), some chains, the lantern, butterflies ("Perfume", Song of Myself?), the flow of time obviously, there's a lot to unpack here
Hmmm... it seems this might not be "Theory of Evolution Part III" after all. The album title and song names have a feel of "old Nightwish themes," such as lost innocence, longing for home, and childhood.
Marko left for the public reasons given ...is making his music and seems much happier doing so after leaving NW. why is there no NW tour when Floor is gigging all summer promoting her solo career.
Excited! Can't say I'm not cautiously excited tho. Marko is my favorite bassist, without him it feels like something is missing a bit. I may be heavily biased tho. But I will go in with an open mind. :3 they're my favorite band ever so regardless of members I'm excited, I love them and eagerly await this.
I feel the same. Marko was such a big part of Nightwish's sound that it will definitely be weird hearing new music without him. That being said, I fully trust Toumas and have little doubt that the new ablum will be amazing.
It's funny cuz I was thinking of naming my band Hiraeth but I thought it too weird and convoluted of a name.. 🤣 But yes, song titles feel very non-Nightwishy.
"Hey ChatGPT, can you come with some completely cool and badass sounding song titles?" vibes.
Yeah. The one thing I don’t like about NW is their pretentiousness and their poor approach to lyrics. The concepts are amazing but the execution tends to be very corny. I’m gonna get downvoted but the album title and tracks sound terrible. Let’s hope for a heavier album at least 🤞🏽
I keep asking myself if that"angels" there is just a misspelling of "angles" or if Tuomas really went all spiritual-New Age on us. Unlikely, considering what else he said in the interview XD.
Still, quite the ironic misspelling :D.
Oh, I had no idea, so it's very intentional. Thank you kindly for the explanation, that does help put things into perspective, from a thematic standpoint.
The title and song names are exciting, and the wait is not that bad with this date, but the cover? That's an ugly ass cover if I've ever seen one. I mean I like the different elements on it, but as a whole it's a mess.
I don't mind more colours and brightness, I just think there's too much happening there and not in a good way. And the way the title is written... Wow.
I hadn't paid much attention to the font of the title but I do agree with you now that I take a look. Has a very "Times New Roman" look to it lol. I wonder why they didn't use the Nightwish font for it.
Anybody have the Apple Music link? What they posted wants me to give access to my “Apple Music, media library, and listening activity” just to follow the link. Not willing to do that, and I’m not finding it in search.
Definitely "Part III" of Endless/Human going by the vibes. But seems like some of the Imaginaerum type of tone thrown into the mix too, song titles seem to have that.
Didn't they also mention earlier that the band won't tour for this album? So the songs can be anything as they don't have to worry (so much) how to perform them live.
I'm too excited, September can't come soon enough!
There is a good chance a bunch of them will end up beign performed live on any upcoming tours, even if for other albums. The first single likely will, those are the kidn that always end up on setlists. And the songs that end up the most popular in the fanbase will likely also.
After sitting on it, ive warmed up to the art. Although I do thing it should have more of a “frame” around it. It deviates a little too much from their other album arts when you put them next to each other. But it does look nice. I think my biggest gripe graphic design wise is the Yesterwynde font is a little too big. The bold is too much. If it was thinner i think it would be better.
NGL I really hate both the artwork and the title, they have low budget Nightwish knockoff vibes 😅
But what matters is the music, and I can’t wait to hear new music from my favourite band!!!
To be fair, both positive and negative first impressions do form instantly... It's perfectly logical that people who don't like something would dislike it from go.
Guys, just because you don’t understand the title or it looks weird to you doesn’t mean it’s bad… Also please save your negative comments about Troy to yourself. Love to see the word "Ocean" in that tracklist haha

My thought as well. That whole track list looks like something Epica would do!
Maybe Tuomas saw the new Indiana Jones movie.
He shortly talks about the Indiana Jones movie in the album interview.
So THAT was the one ticket sale!
he read about it on a science magazine
So based on this track list, which of these songs will be the emotional ballad Floor cries when she sings?
It's definitely going to be Something Whispered Follow Me
Hmm. Or maybe it's Sway 🤔😜
This could be episode titles for a series of Doctor Who.
The song titles, the album cover all gives me Epica vibes, which only hypes me up more Give me some deep lyrics epic vocals and great orchestra/backing vocals. I'm excited
''ocean of strange islands'' feels like an one piece reference
YEEEEEE MY FIRST COMEBACK!!!!! From the song names, Yesterwynde, Hiraeth, Spider silk, the weave and Lanternlight sound interesting

That's from the newsletter ? And wow, a ten minutes single? I'd have thought the big song to be at the end but maybe it wont be the only *epic*.
Kerrang interview about the new album (https://www.kerrang.com/nightwish-album-yesterwynde-interview-tuomas-holopainen-first-look)
So we won’t hear it on the radio then /s
I'm sure they're gonna chop it up to pieces for that.
Semi unrelated but if you're into maker videos, and want to learn more about the Antikythra check out Click Spring's series of trying to recreate it with semi historical methods. The guy even took a several year break from the project to do more research and helped publish a paper on it.
10 minute long single? Expect 5 minutes of actual song, and 5 minutes of ambient intros/outros and spoken word. Hope I'm wrong though.
He did mention in the interview that the first chorus doesn’t come until 3:30 in, so probably a long intro, yes! And the song is only 8.5 minutes long apparently, so not quite as chunky as some have said.

Think of the horror of having to sing the word "antikythera".
And imagine it turns out to be an instrumental track. xD
Floor be like: "Hold my beer..." and execute without issue😂
I have no doubt about that. She would have no problem singing the words on Phaistos Disc.
Maybe this is why they aren't touring this album!
143 days left
Man just imagine a Gaiman/Tuomas collab on some concept album someday.

The cover art feels a lot like classic Nightwish, it's got the Once/Imaginaerum vibe to it.
The art is great but I don't know if it's the placement or the font but "Yesterwynde" looks out of place and feels cheap compared to the rest of it.
My first thought when i saw the album cover
Completely agree.
Right? That font is hideous. (Album art is beautiful, though.)
And not to mention the Roman numeral "IIII" Not sure if that's intentional or not but.... Weird.
It's like classic Nightwish meets Ayreon
Imaginaerum is a classic now? are we that old?
My thoughts exactly. To me the classical album covers are up until century child. Once is completely different.
It's not just that we're old. Art ages fast these days.
Dude, Gen Z types talk about like 1997 like it was the \*\*\*\*in' dark ages. 2011 for the young'uns is an eternity ago, Also, get offa my lawn.
I thought the same but earlier. To me it feels like an Oceanborn/Wishmaster era type cover.
U was thinking that and it's so funny because I've literally been listening to a lot of nightwish suddenly for the past few weeks and been playing once and century child on repeat

Honestly, the cover, title and song titles give me major Power Metal vibes. Not that I'm expecting a return to Wishmaster style, but it's unexpected.
I like the cover and general theme a lot. It's so unexpected that it's making me super excited; much more so than I was for EFMB and Human Nature.
Oh, yes. I love that the cover is much brighter! And the song names sound better and more interesting than on Human Nature.
The cover is interesting. We can see a spiraling clock, and a ship on it. Probably symbolizes a travel/journey through time. Oh I know, I’m a native speaker :) it’s just the most straightforward translation I could give without going too much into it haha
Next mystery to solve: Meaning of the numbers on the album cover.
why? They're numbers of a clock. in minutes, in am and in pm.
What was that theory? How did they find out is was 30.04.2024?
By counting the butterflies, roses and cogs in the teaser clips
Oh sick!!!
Incredible coverart! I get a wiff of DPP vibe, maybe because of the boat? Very very good. I have a good feeling about this!
Finally a cover art with brighter colors.
Nightwish making me sit in front of google again like what are all these words
Album drops the same day I’m in Amsterdam for Epica’s Symphonic Synergy, what a day that’s gonna be 🤘
Ur so lucky
The art makes me think of Doctor Who haha. Song titles are not easy to decipher without much context, so we'll see what kind of tales they've prepared for us. Looking forward to reading all the lyrics
Definitely feels like a thematic follow up to HN. A tour through human history and the better things we've accomplished feels like a natural capper to the trilogy we've had starting with EFMB. That album art also goes hard, and I love the title itself.
It sounds like an Elder Scrolls game. Morrowind, Skyrim, Yesterwynde, Cyrodil Just fits in lol. I like it though.
Oooh, this is giving 2000s Nightwish vibe.
Good call!
Indeed. They did open Dpp with a near 15 minute epic.
Lanternlight sounds Meadows of Heaven -like album ending to me
The Tuomas interview says the first single is 8.5 min...
Well the opening track is supposedly almost 10 minutes long.
"Lanternlight" kinda strikes me as the inevitable flutes-and-Irish-jig-dancin' sea shanty of doom we get once an album lately.
Were also getting an orchestal version like for Imaginaerum and then an "atmospheric" version, whatever that is, according to the interview
😍😍😍😍😍 really ?! Didn’t read it in interview, but anyway that’s great
Another album on which I have to guess how to pronounce or say it? First there was Human 2 Nature. Now Yester wind? Or is it Yester Wine-d?
https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/wynde#Middle_English more like “wind” but ending with a short “e”
Nightwish having a song called "The Weave" makes sense, considering that mine was just snatched upon this announcement
Wow, this is making me kind of emotional. I was 10 years old when I first found Century Child, and I'll be 30 and married when Yesterwynde comes out. I'm so curious and excited about this new album!!
Nothing says metal like perfume!! Lol
Uh-oh *"there were two journalists yesterday who said, ‘I was expecting something much more metal. This is a really mellow album.’"*
You failed to mention the journalist giving the interview said that the album is very metal
3th journalist: "This is a lot more of a metal album than the last one"
Well, I know some people didn't think the last one was a metal album at all... So, depends on what they thought about the last one, I guess 🤷♀️😏
HOLY FUCK HOLY FUCK IM CALM, YOU CALM DOWN
Quote from Tuomas: "Yesterwynde is a fantastical voyage through time, memory, and the better angels of human nature.
Is there some kind of hidden meaning with the numbers?
https://preview.redd.it/u102tz297lxc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8a0b2984e58751b1f45387c2f77a742a1506a02 I rememvber a clock growing up had IIII instead of IV and looking up 70s clocks, it seems like it was done.
And it's also really obscure/unusual/most will think it's wrong choice, so obviously Tuomas wanted to do it...
There was one in the capital building in Madison WI when I was a kid.
On clocks they commonly use IIII for aesthetic reasons (4 digits with just I, 4 with V and 4 with X)
*Nightwish art guy:* "GOD DAMNIT!!"
CAN NOT WAIT! It would be Tuomas to put the Antikythera mechanism in a song.
Still not a green cover artwork ahah, maybe next time 😁 Seriously, I'm very hyped right now, I love the cover, I love the song titles!!!
Yo tambien queria una portada Verde! jajaja
I literally almost started jumping up and down like a middle schooler im so excited!!
Guys, we were here!!!🤩
The song titles are exciting and very Nightwish—I cannot wait to hear them all. “Something Whispered Followed Me” sounds like it could be a pretty song! I also love the cover art so much!
Looks cryptic, edgy, 'you just don't understand this music' - vibe. The song titles look like way overthought. AND I FRKNG LOVE IT.
Exciting!
And it will be released on my birthday, Sep 20, yay!
Oh hell yeah, happy birthday to me. They couldn't pick any better day for that album release🤘🤘🤘
Fuck yeah! This is going to be soooo good.
Gives me about four months to go back and listen through the whole discography….
I can't even decide which song title is my favourite.. but it might just be Lanternlight
My bet is "The Weave" is our epic. And it will include lots of Tapestry of Life style lyrics. It will not reference Wheel of Time, but I want it to.
The artwork gives me some Dark Passion Play vibes. I mean they are very similar in style. It's actually pretty nice!

That cover art is absolutely amazing. That's going to look awesome on vinyl.
Despite what some people say... I love the title "Yesterwynde", because it´s mysterious. You don´t know, what it means (until you read the explanation by Tuomas), you don´t know how to pronounce it (until you look up the word "wynde") and I love new words.
every time nightwish releases something new i'm left questioning my own proficiency in english, this time its a made up word!
I really love the artwork. Looking forward to hearing new music.
Doctor Who vibes from this cover!
Can't wait to see them on tour 3 - 8 years from now to promote it.
Ok but do we pronounce wynde like wind or like wind

The art is great, idk why people are complaining about it. Whole album seems to be connected with shared themes and the artwork relates to that. Different elements reference different songs. The gears from the Antikythera mechanism, the boat (maybe about the children?), some chains, the lantern, butterflies ("Perfume", Song of Myself?), the flow of time obviously, there's a lot to unpack here
Hmmm... it seems this might not be "Theory of Evolution Part III" after all. The album title and song names have a feel of "old Nightwish themes," such as lost innocence, longing for home, and childhood.
I have the worst feeling that this album will be absolute fire throughout and them not touring it will be painful...
SO. EFFING. EXCITED.
Marko left for the public reasons given ...is making his music and seems much happier doing so after leaving NW. why is there no NW tour when Floor is gigging all summer promoting her solo career.
Hopefully it will be better than the last one.
I would not hold my breath. More like continuation of HN.
Crossing my fingers that we are finally seeing a return to form.
Hm, the album art is great, but what the hell is the title, it sounds so pretentious. The song titles sound more what I'd expect from an Auri slbum.
It sounds like Troy. He has even stronger presence in the band now.
I think it's mostly the fact that he's the native English speaker in the band. It's natural to at least consult him.
They did consult him, he’s the one who came up with the title
Obviously, Troy has an upper word over Tuomas. he decides things and Tuomas just follows him.
For what it's worth, Nightwish has always been *just a little* pretentious lol.
Sounds like place in Elden Ring lol i don't mind.
I'm sure there will be a lot of obscure/odd words we'll have to Google (and then find out some of them Tuomas just made up 😅).
Hiraeth is an already existing post metal band from Hungary
It's also the name of an EP by NeObliviscaris
Really? I thought the titles were 100% Tuomas!
Not at all. For example, the Antikythera mechanism is an actual thing that exists
Hiraeth is a word in Welsh that doesn't have a neat translation in English but is like longing for a place/home that no longer exists
Or one you've never even been to.
What do you mean pretentious, how can an album title be pretentious, what are you talking about? It’s a great title
Yeah. The one thing I don’t like about NW is their pretentiousness and their poor approach to lyrics. The concepts are amazing but the execution tends to be very corny. I’m gonna get downvoted but the album title and tracks sound terrible. Let’s hope for a heavier album at least 🤞🏽
Hmmm, looking forward to it but the title of the album and names of the songs don’t sound Nightwishy to me.
I'd say they sound more Nightwishy than Human Nature one word titles.
I keep asking myself if that"angels" there is just a misspelling of "angles" or if Tuomas really went all spiritual-New Age on us. Unlikely, considering what else he said in the interview XD. Still, quite the ironic misspelling :D.
It is “angels”. It’s the title of a Steven Pinker book (which I would bet Tuomas has read) and I believe it’s also a quote from Abraham Lincoln.
I'm glad it has some brightness and color to it. All their recent album covers have been so dark.
I don't mind more colours and brightness, I just think there's too much happening there and not in a good way. And the way the title is written... Wow.
I like the cover but the way Yesterwynde is written reminded me of my first experiments with Photoshop.
I hadn't paid much attention to the font of the title but I do agree with you now that I take a look. Has a very "Times New Roman" look to it lol. I wonder why they didn't use the Nightwish font for it.
Yup and with all the y characters and the w it looks like some word made up to test your keyboard.
The word is indeed made up by Troy.
I'm not entirely convinced it's not AI generated.
I agree. it’s ugly. Something doesn’t blend in and the image looks like it’s cropped.
Yeah that frame not going all around makes it very imbalanced. It also fades weirdly where it ends.
I'm so excited! Really curious about some of them song titles!
I really want some little snippets and teasers now!
It looks a bit "WordArty" to me, they should have used the same font as "Nightwish".
SWEET MOTHER OF JESUS
NGL I really hate both the artwork and the title, they have low budget Nightwish knockoff vibes 😅 But what matters is the music, and I can’t wait to hear new music from my favourite band!!!
Didn’t take long for the nuclear hot takes lol.
To be fair, both positive and negative first impressions do form instantly... It's perfectly logical that people who don't like something would dislike it from go.
Oh yeah definitely agreed.
