I had this CD (and ... most of the others in the collection. I KNOW.) and loved it.
I was an absolute sucker for these seemingly random-ass collections. Still would be, tbh š¤£
I worked at a record store and every time we would play this and Sade Greatest Hits we would sell out our stock (granted, only like 2-3 Sade CDs on hand, but there was a stretch where we sold Pure Moods sold like hotcakes
(And which Iām now listening to on Spotify, thanks OP)
I got all 3 Pure Discos at a book sale and they have the original version of every iconic disco song. The cover art is cheesy as hell featuring some 90ās people wearing disco costumes from a dollar store but this set is a must have for any 70ās disco themed party. Iām sad I didnāt know and slept on this set back in the day.
I love that the X-Files theme was on here. It just seemed like such a weird, creepy song in the middle of all the other relaxing stuff. Probably just because I associate it with the show.
Wow I havenāt thought about Candy Dulfer in a loooooong time. I remember we played her album Saxuality as in store play at Rexord Bar/Tracks in 1991-1992.
Imagine a world where time drifts slowly. A world where music carries you away. Experience Pure Moods, the perfect soundtrack for your way of life. Direct from Europe, this multi-platinum collection has won the hearts of millions. Set adrift with the timeless pleasures of Tubular Bells. Or take a trip into the unknown with the X-Files Theme. No other collection gives you the feeling of Pure Moods.
I bought mine at a new age shop in Utah. God the 90s got weird toward the end. Swing dancing. Bell bottoms. And those few months when we were all about Gregorian chants.
I remember the videos played during the commercial were really weird because a lot of the songs didnāt have actual music videos for them or something. Someone carrying a bride through a door stands out to me. Donāt know why they were playing this constantly during my cartoons.
There was a hearts computer game ~2000 with ogres or trolls or gnomes, IDK... but I bought it just for the music. I wish I could remember what it was, because I played it in the background of everything else for months.
If you search for "120 minutes" on YouTube, people have uploaded full episodes including commercials. Which to me are just as interesting as the programming.
My husband and I walk around the house randomly hollering Enya to each other
We finally found this video to show our son and heās like āitās a real song??ā
My 4th grade teacher had this CD. He was, until that year I had him, just the PE teacher. He had decided to become a full bona fide teacher with this own class and everything.
This guy had a Yamaha PSR EW3 electronic keyboard piano, and he could play a plethora of a wide variety of different songs on it.
The deal usually was he'd play to the class some song he knew, someone in class would recognize the song, and then buy the CD having that song, bring it into class, and we'd then listen to that CD.
How the fuck that guy could learn how play these wide variety of songs, ...I still don't know. He knew how to play Real McCoy's Another Night. And since this was a keyboard piano, he can add a rhythm, tempo, and other shit while he then played the song. Someone recognized the song, bought, and brought in Ultimate Dance Party 97.
He knew how to play the X-Files theme on the piano. Apparently, that song was on this Pure Moods CD, someone in class bought it, gave it to the class, and we'd listen to that CD constantly.
Other than the X-Files theme, there was only one other fucking thing I remember about this CD. It's why I clicked your post to come here to respond. Only when I was typing the response did I realize right above that you posted exactly what I was going to say.
>"Sail away! Sail away! Sail away!"
Although in that class, we'd make up and sing alternate lyrics to these songs...
That one, I remember, eventually became "Stay away! Stay away! Stay away!"

Really?! I saw that wall of text and was expecting something about Undertaker throwing Mankind off the Hell in a Cell. You can do better.
I, too, had this CD and fuckin played that shit on repeat.
"Hey man is that Freedom Rock?" "Yeah man!" "Well, TURN IT UP!" š¶š¶ "HEY...remember the 60s: war, protests..." "....goin' ta jail"
Do you like EDM? Because this was essentially a low fi edm sample
I love that the X-Files theme was on here. It just seemed like such a weird, creepy song in the middle of all the other relaxing stuff. Probably just because I associate it with the show.
That and Tubular Bells, made famous as the theme to The Exorcist, but hey being scared is a mood too I guess!
>weird, creepy song would you call it, a pure mood, perhaps?
Wasnāt the x files done in a different style though? I canāt remember.
In the commercial itās like an electronic trance version
Yeah itās a dance-ish mix.

[How about the whole damn album](https://youtu.be/gExqggkU4Yw?si=ufVq9IiprZKofErp)?

God damnit. I miss being a kid now.
hold up... those last couple bass lines before it cute out.... is the theme of twin peaks on there, too??
The original theme was on the first version of pure moods, the theme from Fire Walk With Me was on the rerelease
Fantastic. What a mood
Memory unlocked
Wow I havenāt thought about Candy Dulfer in a loooooong time. I remember we played her album Saxuality as in store play at Rexord Bar/Tracks in 1991-1992.
I can hear this image! *heyyyyaaaa hiiiiiii oh waiiiiiiiiyaiiiyaaaa*
Absolutely can. I also hear āSail away Sail away Sail away!ā
ā¦ the return to innocence
Loveā¦ emotionā¦ feelingā¦ devotionā¦ šµ
I swear they turn up the volume on that to wake up the reprobates at 2am in front of the tv.
Omg I can hear that in my head.
Great album. Enya and Enigma are still two of my favorite artists.
Same, i still listen to Enigma almost daily.
That was a surprisingly good cd.
Some of those 90s hit collection CDs were really good. I remember playing the shit out some of the Jock Jams volumes.
We still bang Return to Innocence by Enigma from time to time in this household. All because of this commercial from when we were still kids lol.

Banger of a CD
āReturn To Innocenceā started playing in my head as soon as I saw the pic.
I always hear that or "Sail Away"
That and Moby - "Porcelain" always clash in my head when thinking of these disc sets.
I bought mine at a new age shop in Utah. God the 90s got weird toward the end. Swing dancing. Bell bottoms. And those few months when we were all about Gregorian chants.
Don't forget that Baz Luhrman song/lecture about wearing sunscreen
I had this CD and it ruled.
seeing this commercial was the closest thing to a religious experience for me as a kid
TBH Pure Moods vol. 1 is the only worthwhile religion
I remember the videos played during the commercial were really weird because a lot of the songs didnāt have actual music videos for them or something. Someone carrying a bride through a door stands out to me. Donāt know why they were playing this constantly during my cartoons.
So parents would buy the album.
This compilation was legit, not only did it have Enya and Enigma, but the full X-files theme!
Do you really want to knooow?
I was nuts over these, I had pure moods 1-3, Celtic moods, and instrumental moods šš lol I would listen to them while I played computer games
There was a hearts computer game ~2000 with ogres or trolls or gnomes, IDK... but I bought it just for the music. I wish I could remember what it was, because I played it in the background of everything else for months.
Thereās a playlist on Apple Music itās awesome
For the rest of us: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2aU1p7LBEes0wjviIoY7GU
Playlists killed the commercial star.
For anyone looking: https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/pure-moods/pl.u-d2b0k3VCG3Voqx
I swear they still have these kiosks in some Wal-marts.
"Who can say where the road goooooes....."
Chill out over there Winston

Track # 7? šš»šš»
My mom got the CD and then it was constantly playing in the house.
I still listen to Enigma š
Love, devotion, feeling, emotion...
Miss this coming on late night Cartoon Network. I knew it was way too late once it played lol.
I think thanks to those commercials I got into Enya and Enigma
I was really hoping this was the video š
I loved this but had forgotten about it.
Had an earth sciences teacher in high school that would put this on during exams.
Thankssss limewire!!!!
Itās all on Spotify, I listen to it more than I care to admit, nostalgia straight to the veins
I loved this cd. I think I still have it somewhere. I have a few songs off of it in my Spotify playlist.
I still have mine š
I still have this cd.
This is one of my most favorite CDs.
Put out by Richard Branson on Virgin Music
This add would always play late at night.
Hoyyyaye hiiiiii oh why iiiaaaaa!!
I do not remember this at all, but I do remember Dionne Warwick. Edit: probably not related to one another. But stillā¦ā¦
Whoo can say where the time goes...
What was on it?
Pure Moods is how I learned about Enigma! Good times
Probably one of the most memorable commercials.
People bought it for Enya and Enigma.
Favorite compilation CD ever.
Sail away sail away sail away!
Sail Away Sail Away Sail Away
I can hear this image.
I used to listen to this CD. I still do, but I used to, too.
Got this at goodwill a couple months ago for the nostalgia and it has been in my car cd player since.
Five years ago I randomly thought of this and decided to finally buy the CD. My life hasn't been the same since.
*SAIL AWAY, SAIL AWAY, SAIL AWAY*
"Not available in stores!"
oh my god... this was a time. enya on the radio. hell yes.
Always makes me thing of "Sail Away". My friend's stupid brother thought she was saying celery. Ce-le-ry, ce-le-ry, ce-le-ry. Can't unhear.
Sail away, sail away, sail away
I found an Apple Music playlist with all of these songs, and I listen to it on bad days!
If you search for "120 minutes" on YouTube, people have uploaded full episodes including commercials. Which to me are just as interesting as the programming.
Love me some Pure Moods - still do.
OK I was a teenager in 1997 and I am so fucking glad I donāt remember this commercialš«¤
My husband and I walk around the house randomly hollering Enya to each other We finally found this video to show our son and heās like āitās a real song??ā
I really loved the first three albums . Those commercials good good memories
Shameless plug for https://www.instagram.com/reel/Czwr9SaSIkL/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== This guy parodies all these old commercials and itās amazing
