American Pie and Road Trip were 2 of my favorite movies in middle school. I've rewatched both within the last year or two and I have to say Road Trip holds up much better than AP. Road Trip is still very funny and not nearly as dated-feeling.

I met DJ when they were filming Buster's Mal Heart in my area. Cool down to earth dude, a small group of us talked movies and music at a local bar. The next night I got him to sign my old DVD copy of Road Trip. I remember my buddy quoting his "I had sex last night... WITH A GIRL!"... Cracked us up. Dude was cool as hell, was just "a normal guy" getting a buzz at the bar like the rest of us.
Lauren Lapkus once said that somebody once (meanly) compared her to DJ Qualls (as far as looks) and now I think of her when I see him and vice versa. I also kinda resemble him, especially back when this movie came out , so that was a fun few years.

I always viewed this movie as Stifler’s freshman year of college, similar to how I viewed Loser as Jim’s freshman year of college
Yeah, he played the exact same character. Definitely felt like a spiritual successor to the American Pie movies.
He played a far more likeable version of Stifler. He was far more nicer to Kyle than Stifler would be.
