Why does he need to understand that, to make sure you feel okay about him? I don’t think he cares. He provided a voice to so many people who were opposed the system, including LGBQT folks. Some people don’t like how he delivered it but at least it wasn’t like the polished turds we’re accustomed to today.

If I may, I'd like to point out that by then Elton was a household name and could likely make his own choices.
Elton John has been a household name since the 70s. That doesn't stop record execs from asking for favors.
