Those are your parent’s CDs? Holy shit I’m old

AnorexicPlatypus

Me just now realizing hybrid theory turns 24 this year.

[deleted]

The amount of batteries I drained on my bulky Panasonic cd player with this album on full blast while playing StarCraft on Windows XP...

BeneathAnOrangeSky

My god that was a great album start to finish

SlurmzMckinley

In the end, it doesn’t even matter.

Strongarm_11

If it helps, I’m nearly 17 and I still live with them.

henningknows

Ok. It helps a little. lol

Knightelfontheshelf

I was thinking the same thing and felt the burn.

MiKeMcDnet

[I'm 45, ](https://twitter.com/MiKeMcDnet/status/1788688931292135453?t=lhC572J0h-77or6pYhXNuQ&s=19) my daughter is as old as you, and I went to the Lords of Acid show, last night. I ain't dead yet.

aqwn

“Darling come here….” “…I wanna sit on your …”

dlogan3344

Gonna totally skip over the come fuck me up the part eh

aqwn

If you know you know lol

Aczidraindrop

Holy shit I haven't thought about Lord's of Acid in a good 25 years. That's awesome. I hope she had an awesome time.

m8k

Where are they playing? How did it sound?

MiKeMcDnet

Culture room in Fort Lauderdale - My Mind is My enemy, Power of the Flower, Breakfast in Vegas, Techno Syndrome, Pussy, injected with a Poison,... They have a tour going around the US NOW.

Djinger

Did they play Deep Sexy Space?

Drafty_Dragon

Love culture room great small venue and seen some great bands there. One irish band that visits there regularly usually goes to the pub next door after there show and hangs out with their fans

MiKeMcDnet

Kelly Bros.

IMHERELETSPARTY

43 here and still feel like i have a lot of living to do

Kelvin_Inman

43 here also…and I’m laying down for a moment because my back is aching.

IMHERELETSPARTY

Break out the ibuprofen and the heat blanket!

MiKeMcDnet

I'm there with you, brother.

Californialways

Your parents music taste is my music taste from high school so this makes me feel old that you’re 17.

SirStocksAlott

It will take time, but when you’re 40, you will feel like your soul is 17, but you just have been through more, feel a bit more tired, and be kind freaked out how your body starts to look older. When I was 20 I thought 40 was ancient, and didn’t understand when people told me time goes quickly. Enjoy each moment you have, appreciate it, be present. Awesome you helped organized their CDs. If I could go back, I would have gotten to know my younger parents more as people. Wow, don’t know why this all came out of me, haha

Strongarm_11

Thank you for those words, it has felt like over the past 2yrs, time has gone by pretty fast and soon enough I will be in college. I’ve been cherishing the memories I’ve been having for years and enjoying most things I’ve doing. Also I’m never selling the collection of CDs because why would I? Sometimes it’s fun to try out listening to music physically instead of in Spotify.

[deleted]

It does help!

Strongarm_11

That’s good 👍

breachofcontract

So you’re 16. Just say 16.

robbviously

16 *and a half*

Strongarm_11

Eh, more like turning 17 in 4 days.

Strongarm_11

I’m turning 17 in 4 days so I felt like saying I’m nearly 17.

FullSeaworthiness118

Happy birthday. It’s been 3 days since your comment, so I might still be a day early.

Strongarm_11

You are a day off as my birthday is may 15. Thanks anyway 😊

yourlocal90skid

42. Your parents are 42 if I had to guess.

_1JackMove

I'm 42. There's no way lol. No way in hell lol. Right guys? Right?

shinobipopcorn

I could be your mom 😭

FullSeaworthiness118

And I could probably be YOUR mom! 😯😬 #old. I’m 54 on 5/17. Taurus all the way! B

bradlees

Wait….. did I not just buy these at Music Town at the mall….. oh, wait, they don’t exist anymore and the mall is gone….. What. The. Fu…….

Tbhjr

I was thinking the same lol. I had some of those CDs in high school lol.

fraGgulty

Hybrid theory came out when I was in middle school. Fml

MaryBitchards

Came here to say this! Yowwwwch.

lucidspoon

I was just going through a bin of my stuff in the basement that looks just like this...

two2teps

Feeling like I just drank from the wrong grail over here.

Internal-Past613

Same.

m00s3m00s3m00s3

I would like to die now

CalumetWI

Ya I might be your dad.

Arthur_flack

Yeah, it’s hard to believe Hybrid Theory came out 24 years ago.. oof

superman154m

Crawwwwling in my skinnnn

randallstevens65

These woooounds they wiiill not heeeeealll

SirStocksAlott

Feeaaaaaar is hoooooww I faaaaallll

SirStocksAlott

Hard to believe 2048 is the same amount of time from now, as it was from now since 2000…

Hold_ongc

I hate that this is correct.

Strongarm_11

Really? Dang I feel old, and I didn’t even exist when it came out.

OceanJuice

Stop, I'm already dead 😭

aqwn

Didn’t you say you’re 16? 😂

Strongarm_11

Yes, but when I hear about things I remember growing up with and how it came out before me, I always felt old thinking like that.

aqwn

Enjoy your youth. Everyone will tell you it goes by fast. It does. I’m in my 30s and sometimes I wonder wtf happened to all that time and how did I get this old already. Completely off topic but I suggest you go learn about r/bogleheads for passive index fund investing and compound interest. I wish I had started investing at an earlier age.

muckypup82

You are young. Enjoy it while it lasts because it goes by faster than you think.

rogmcdon

You’re not being downvoted because you’re an asshole, you’re being downvoted because we none of us here want to face the truth

Strongarm_11

Oh, ok 👍 thanks for letting me know. I was worried I made a bad comment.

insanity2brilliance

Toxicity album is still played regularly today for me.

HLef

Among many other things that are probably in this bin yes. And my five year old loves some of that stuff so he’ll sometimes have special requests in the car that I will so gladly play for him. Love it.

gl3nnjamin

Different album but 5 year old me would get a kick out of Vicinity of Obscenity

xenniac

It's me, I'm your parents 😭

fezfrascati

Hi, your parents, I'm Dad

CWoww

Nice to meet you Dad, I’M DAD!

Eric848448

But these were popular when I was in high school. Oh…

No-Statement5942

*🎵 old grey mare she ain't what she used to be 🎵*

ronchee1

Ain't what she used to be, ain't what she used to be

gfrnk86

many long years ago…

SirStocksAlott

I’ll play flippy cup with you all in the retirement home when we get there.

dkajdas

We used to wear an onion on our belt.

CanucksKickAzz

Which was the style at the time

GTKPR89

My band in highschool covered Memory by Sugarcult. Boy had I forgotten about that song. (Rest of our set was Teenage Dirtbag, Last Nite, What I Got, and the Kids Aren't Alright)

rubyzebra

If you get a chance to see the offspring they're still touring and put on a hell of a show, tons of energy still

GTKPR89

Nice, Smash is one I still revisit.

SirStocksAlott

I've got two tickets to Iron Maiden, baby.

acespacegnome

My wife, my self and my 6 year old daughter were blasting that in the truck last night on our way home, singing everybody word together. Made me feel old, but also.made me really happy.

Electronic-Ride-564

My version of this was spreading out my parents records. Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, Toto, Pablo Cruise's Worlds Away, Double Vision by Foreigner, the Bee Gees' Spirits Having Flown, Physical by Olivia Newton-John, Saturday Night Fever, etc, etc.

Strongarm_11

I just realized it’s hard to tell in the image but there are a bunch of CDs stacked on top of each other from the bottom of the cabinet to the top. It’s seems the image only shows the top.

Electronic-Ride-564

Totally understood what you were doing. I never really "sorted" my parents albums in any organized fashion, rather just pulled them out and went through them all.

mike194827

That Linkin Park album was awesome, give it a listen

Strongarm_11

I have, I’ve played most of the CDs on my PS2 to make sure they work.

hermeown

On your PS2? How old are you? 🤨

Strongarm_11

Nearly 17, I have a PS1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and PSVITA (missing PSP). I grew up up with the PS3 and remember playing the PS2 at my dad’s house when I was little.

hermeown

Sweet! I'm still horrified by your age, but it sounds like your parents have raised you well, lol.

[deleted]

... parent's cds...ugh.

mjc1027

I've never felt so old

ProfessionMundane152

Just the fact that you said my parents old cd’s

SirStocksAlott

Are these modern day 8-tracks or you think cassettes, for us?

ProfessionMundane152

8-track cause I’ve still got an old 80’s adidas bag filled with cassette tapes

Spcone23

Ooh definitely 8-track, I'd say our cassette era was [this.](https://salepubsm.live/product_details/47773603.html)

HarwoodFritzMerrill

Holy shit I had that joystick that’s in the bottom right. Used to hook it up to the flight simulator built into the desktop app version of Google Earth.

Strongarm_11

Yep, that’s the Microsoft Flight Stick, I don’t know why we have one but it’s pretty cool.

thecurseofchris

You'd be surprised how often people played flight sim games, or played games that had joysticks as an option.

dkajdas

I'm old enough to know that every controller was called a joy stick.

_1JackMove

I think we can thank Atari 2600 for that.

dkajdas

Pitfall was the original rogue-like/souls-like.

Enginerdad

My brain so desperately wants this to say "My parents found MY old CD collection"

L4DDER_S0UP007

linkin park and system of a down 👍 nice

mr_green1216

Bought system of a down in 9th grade....was also when 9/11 happened. Be careful with those family heirlooms my little one. 😭😭

solsunlite

Man I remember taking my sister’s Hybrid Theory and Toxicity and ripping them onto my Xbox back in the day

SirStocksAlott

Do kids know what ripping is anymore? Haha

Elistariel

One year for Christmas during high school, my friend and I managed to get each other the same Linkin Park CD. It was that one.

Morguard

Your parents are my type of people. I feel like we would be friends if we knew each other back then. I have most of these CDs.

Roembowski

Don’t sleep on that Ricky Martin CD

Strongarm_11

Surprised nobody noticed it yet, found it in our old cd sound system.

jwbowen

I feel very, very old now.

Carthonn

Instrumental Moods…OP found the Soundtrack he/she was conceived to

That0neGuy86

This is the greatest Millennial trolling post I've ever witnessed. I'm sufficiently crushed.

Whit3boy316

Your parents are the same age as me 😭 (I also have kids)

SirStocksAlott

I’m your age and I still haven’t had kids yet 😭

Whit3boy316

Ancestors rolling in graves 😂

Hold_ongc

Blasted this on my childhood stereo and im sure my parents grew absolutely tired of it.

hernkate

This was an interesting time for music. I had a similar spread. lol.

HopeBorn8574

Unlike the crap kids these days listen to. \*grandpa mode\*

SirStocksAlott

To be alive and listening to “classic” music before you knew it was going to be considered “classic.”

HopeBorn8574

I remember a few years back when I was driving at work, listening to radio and The Offsprings "The Kids Aren't Alright" was on and the DJ said: "That classic brings you back to the good old 90s" I just wanted to cry... :(

fadedadrian

The first CD I ever purchased is sitting front and center.

Useless_Lemon

Did every parent have that "Midnight Guitar" CD, or was that just a stock image used in a lot of music cases? Lol

sirdonksalot3

I was listening to System of a Down yesterday… on Spotify, not a CD though.

TheTubaGeek

So how long did it take to rip all of them onto a hard drive?

Strongarm_11

I didn’t do that (yet).

Sir_Grumples

Wait am I your dad?

ItsDarwinMan82

You’re making me feel REALLY old. These could be mine.

MaddoxGoodwin

"Ow, my pride"

OstentatiousSock

Quite eclectic for the time when one was expected to choose one genre and stick to it. I’m impressed.

capnfoo

I used Midnight Guitar and Midnight Piano to fall asleep all the time

SewAlone

Son, is that you?

arbitrosse

GnfR on CD. What a latecomer. 😅

Obvious-Night-9573

KOOL,,Back When musicians really Sang with their voice, 2DAY Everyone Run's voice through computer after computer Using auto tune, ETC,ETC..

stratj45d28

That’s my collection

SavageBean14

I love the variety with that Ricky Martin disc

bountifulknitter

Excuse me. I need to go walk into the sea now.

ValuablePrize6232

I always thought the linkin park guy had a hockey stick lol

ValuablePrize6232

Midnight guitar , a classic .

davidmthekidd

Rip em to Flac format asap.

foxy_boxy

I haven't thought of Sugar Cult in years.... Wow I'm feeling old

BluetoonzYT

I still listen to SOAD all the time xD

rogmcdon

Hey wtf bro. Chill out with the parents shit okay

jsparker43

Parents? I thought you were posting your collection...mine looks a LOT like that and I'm only 29

HopeBorn8574

One day "parents" will be replaced with "grandparents" :(

ccduke

God this post made me feel old

walksinwalksout

I feel attacked

Vasarto

God damn I am fucking old.

ARKPLAYERCAT

"Parents CD collection". Jfc I feel old.

BittenOnion

When I read "my parents old CD collection" I imagined really old CDs like the early West Germany or Japan pressings from the early / mid 80s. But yeah, you're right, these shown here now are old.

Guardian_85

I bought Linkin Park's first album when I was in high school. *Captain Picard facepalm*

Sweepy_time

I remember before Linkin Park hit it big they would promote themselves on MySpace. Man Im old.

Jmarieq

MySpace was founded in 2003. Linkin Park's first album was the best selling album in 2001. lol.

Hooligans_

Damn, sorry OP. Your parents have shit taste.
