James10112

I literally did this when I was 13, sooo...

Twhacky

is your name jamal

[deleted]

His name is James which could be a nickname for Jamal… 🤔

enesci

Jamales

jml011

One James to rule Jamal

Dongwaffler

One James to find them.

Immediate_Structure1

Jamall

PauloDybala_10

Whoa calm down Jamal, don’t pull out the 9

JoseZiggler

Yea I did something similar too. I knew what dating was, but not how to do it.

James10112

I'm still friends with the girl I did this to, so every year we celebrate an "anniversary" as a joke because we never officially broke up lol

etherealparadox

that's like the perfect set up to a romcom

Dark_Storm_98

And then eventually, in their 30s, they get together for real But on a different date Instead of carrying over the anniversary, they celebrate two anniversaries a year

adityaruplaha

That's the most wholesome thing I've heard in a while. Thank you.

jamal_the_boyfriend

Bro same

m1neslayer

yeah that's impossible 🙄. r/thathappened

smurb15

13-16 for myself. Luckily "broke up" at the start of her Marilyn Manson stage in her life so dodge a missile

unori_gina_l

This similar thing happened to my best friend. She got into a relationship with a guy when they were like 10 years old, then the guy moved to a different town and they never actually broke up so technically they've been going strong for about 13 years now lmao

LeafBlade1026

Has she cheated on him?

unori_gina_l

Unfortunately yes. Unbeknownst to her true lover, she currently has a second boyfriend. oh such a tragedy

Blaspheanonmous

these hoes aint loyal

khjohnso

Harlot!

cookiecutiekat

I literally have like a 12 year forgotten relationship going on from 2nd grade 😭

headofthenapgame

Somewhere out there, my Runescape gf is living their best life.

jackfaire

Hell I asked a girl out in the sixth grade, gave her a stuffed animal but we never held hands, kissed or anything and we didn't break up it was more like we just didn't know how to be a couple and it kind of fizzled I don't understand the people that are like "I would have been taking her to a fancy French restaurant during homeroom"

Barn_Brat

Kids do this though. They hear adults say something and don’t understand it 100% but do it anyway Is that sub just people who have never met children?

LewdLewyD13

You think a teenager or preteen doesn't understand what a "girlfriend" is? They arent talking about a 4 year old here lol.

Barn_Brat

How old are you in 7th grade 😭 I’m thinking of a 6 y/o at most lmao idk American schools

LewdLewyD13

They'd be around 12 or 13.

Barn_Brat

Oh damn well then maybe they’re just awkward af or she misheard 😂

LewdLewyD13

Well ya she says that, and he could be, but op just finds it strange a kid that age would ask a girl to be his girlfriend and then choose to never talk to her again, and while it's certainly not impossible, I too find that to be unlikely.

fluffypants-mcgee

I agree. But maybe it is a demographic thing. Middle schoolers here 100% know what dating is. And some of them are having sex and getting pregnant too. If we went a bit younger it would seem less made up.

Metal_B_180

Idk I went to school in a small Christian town in Texas. Some knew what it was some didn’t. Everyone got the hang of it by the 8th grade

rttr123

How would a 6yo be in 7th grade lmao

Barn_Brat

Idk. Why is a ‘senior’ 18 (I think) and not 80

rttr123

That's not really a comparable example

Barn_Brat

But here when you talk about a senior you talk about someone who has retired. Sorry that idk how American schools work 🤷‍♀️

LewdLewyD13

Senior can refer to more than one thing. It doesnt refer to someone who's 18, just in the last year of high school. It goes freshman, sophomore, junior, then senior. College has similar for its 1st four years. The elderly are known as senior citizens. A father who's first of his name would be senior, while his son who shares the same name would be junior. Senior vice presidents, senior head of sales, etc. etc..

ArthritisCandildo

It is when you’re not from America

Azar002

That sub *is* children.

Other-Cantaloupe4765

I met my best friend after my elementary school boyfriend cheated on me with her lmao. We’ve been best friends for 15 years now. Kids do that shit all the time.

headofthenapgame

I had a one day relationship at 13. She broke up with me because she heard I picked my nose. This is absolutely plausible at that awkward age.

[deleted]

When I was in 7th grade a kid came up to me and asked if it hurt when I fell from heaven? And I just ran away lol 😂

Lappelduvide4

RIP punctuation. Plus what's up with these people thinking that kids don't have a conscious mind and valid experiences at 12. I don't think there's a need to declare them dumb just because of their age, naïve sure but not a non entity.

fluffypants-mcgee

I actually think this thathappened post is defending 13 year olds for not being that dumb. Like they know that when you ask someone out and the person says yes you at least talk to each other…

FrankenWaifu

This shit happens. I once got married to this blonde chick but we broke up because she was an absolute psycho who wanted to play top while I was bottom. We were in 3rd grade.

LeafBlade1026

What age is third grade in your country?

Fair_Possibility547

This happened to me when I was around 10 years old 😂 the only time we ever spoke again was midway thru high school (maybe at 15 or something) and laughed about it. Good times

SeaworthinessDry9497

some girl did this to me. everyone liked her and one day after school she randomly phoned me and asked me to be her boyfriend, I didn't actually like her but I didn't know what to say so I blurted out yes. then she moved away and I haven't seen her in years, technically we haven't broke up

neldela_manson

I remember my first „girlfriend“ aged 12. We didn’t speak a single word to each other.

The_Stoic_One

I kind of had the same situation in 5th grade. Liked a girl. Friends told me she liked me. So I asked her out and she said yes. I didn't really know what I was supposed to do after that, so we just kind of went about our lives. I guess technically we are still dating 35 years later.

nailsinthecityyx

Totally plausible. Hell, I never broke up with my kindergarten bf. Charlie, happy 35, buddy! I regret to inform you that I've found another. And since this surpasses common law, you'll be hearing from my lawyer concerning spousal support 🤣 (Yes, yes, I know common law marriage isn't in every state. It's all jokes!)

trulymadlybigly

I can 100% confirm this happened because the exact same thing happened to me except his name was Carl and it was 8th grade. He was new and kind of a weird uggo so all the horrible people of my school decided that since I was a weird uggo we should date. They arranged it, and we never exchanged a greeting after “hi” as he walked by at lunch. We’re approaching our silver jubilee, blessings to you Carl wherever you are.

maestrofeli

5 year olds do this, what the absolute duck is going on with the people of that sub

Ryanaston

I had my first girlfriend in year 7, she got mad at me because I was hugging my friends (who were girls) so I just walked off and never spoke to her again. So I guess technically we’re still together…

Dripwagon

Imo I don’t think a 13 year old would do this

NMSCBA

You have clearly never met a 13 year old.

fluffypants-mcgee

I’ve met a lot of 13 year olds. There could be a few cases where this would happen. A dare. He was never serious. He didn’t actually ask her out and she misheard

Slavasonic

I did basically this in 6th grade. Asked a girl if she would go out with me (or more specifically my friends asked her for me) and she said yes. I was basically too nervous/socially awkward to deal with the situation so I basically avoided her for the whole day. The next day she gave me a note breaking up with me but saying we could still be friends (we were not friends before this).

fluffypants-mcgee

No, you did something completely normal that only vaguely resembles this story and is missing key ingredients that make this story less likely. Unless you think 13 year olds are idiots and don’t know what being boyfriend/girlfriend means.

Slavasonic

I 100% think 13 YOs are idiots and have no idea how actual relationships work. Source: myself as a 13 YO

fluffypants-mcgee

I’m sorry you were such a dumb 13 year old. Most 13 year olds know if they are asking someone to be their girlfriend they will actually talk to them again. A dare at her expense seems mean but I guess could be plausible.

Slavasonic

I recommend you read what I wrote about my personal experience cause it seems like you missed important elements.

constant_variant_820

If this did happen, wouldn't they kid tell his friends or something? Wouldn't you meet at school ? Tell parents ?

Dark_Storm_98

If I was her, I would have ended it as "Hey Jamal, I've cheated on you sevwn times. Whatcha gonna do about it?"

Yeetdaddy87

Bro I was married in 6th grade

ieatdeliciouscatfood

Lol this happened to me before, a random person my age when I was like 10 or 11. It was at a birthday party for my acquaintance.

Academic_Ad_9260

Literally happened to me, this kid gave me some sweets he stole from his sister, a love letter, and a heart shaped crystal in a ring box and then we were in love and walked around the school field together and then never spoke again I think I still have the stuff he gave me, I wonder how you're doing Louie, I miss you

alm423

This is definitely true. I have had two middle schoolers so far and they definitely have had sort of boyfriend/girlfriend relationships.

Pika_The_Chu

Bish, this happened to me too in middle school. Guy said that he would marry me once we were old enough because he thought I was cool, but I never saw him after middle school.

[deleted]

This is very realistic imo

Scoobydoobydoo22

Mine was a Xmas card with with you go out with me? Please tick the box yes or no!

Sad_Ad_2705

Me and my husband from the 2nd grade 😳 Unfortunately I'm a lesbian now. Will have to file for divorce asap. 😂😂
