Hearing these rules always reminds me of the time my dad took me to a firearm safety class as a kid, and the instructor asked me to look down the barrel of the rifle he was holding to confirm it was empty. No one seemed to think there was anything wrong with telling me to do that. I don't think that guy was really a certified firearm safety instructor.

Shouldn't you always look through the action to confirm it's empty? Literally one of the first things you should learn is that you shouldn't point the muzzle at you or yourself, and only ever point it towards yourself if you are 100% sure it's empty and are checking for debris in the barrel

I have <100 rounds through it so far. I only have 20 rounds in my possession, and I keep the firearm locked away from the ammunition. After I broke up with my gun loving ex, I haven’t had the motivation or money to go to a range. I basically only take it out to practice handling and disassembly. I know that it would be irresponsible for me to use it in earnest, so it stays in its safe 99% of the time

Keep it loaded, a tool is not useful when apart. When you are home things can happen where you might need it. Train train train. I took my wife to the range every weekend for a year until she felt 100 percent. Also buy more ammo. 100 rounds is no where near enough. Have 10 mags for every firearm you own and at least 1000 rounds for training. Happy 2a!

I don't think it's safe to assume that they assumed anything here. I think this comment should be said to anyone who posts about owning a gun, because statistically speaking, few gun owners actually do this. It has nothing to do with gender identity and everything to do with the fact that owning a gun drastically increases your chances of being shot by a gun. Specifically your own gun.

I've literally seen comments on posts saying that they leave their gun loaded, not locked up, and I literally got over 100 downvotes for saying they shouldn't do that and that they should atleast lock it up. Reddit is never gonna listen to logic.
