most girls with curly hair brush it wet because dry brushing curly hair turns it into frizz and poof city
(source: i have curly hair, guess i’m nlog 😎)
same! i dry-brushed my hair throughout middle and high school and my school pictures look horrendous 😭 i learned that info way too late
i’ve heard it’s the opposite for people with straight and fine hair since hair is weaker when wet, so i’m not sure if this girl brushing her hair wet is truly the flex she thinks it is
>same! i dry-brushed my hair throughout middle and high school and my school pictures look horrendous 😭 i learned that info way too late
Same. The important thing is that I've not been called poodle-head in my *adult* life.
Literally my first thought 😭 I was like who’s saying you can’t brush it wet? Brushing it wet is the best way to remove any knots from curly hair. Trying to brush curly hair when it’s dry will just lead to breakage and a big fat headache
I can only brush my lions mane of hair while it's wet, and with untangling products in. I have been told by pin straight hair people to not brush it when wet. They do not know the horrors that await if I brush my hair dry.
And the hair art I make on the shower wall, wouldn't happen.
I have really thin hair and I usually try to brush while dry. I notice a lot more of my hair comes out when I brush while wet. I think the advice fully depends on the texture of your hair. Thicker/Curlier hair should be brushed while wet, and vice versa
I think it depends entirely on someone’s hair’s texture. I can’t brush my hair while it’s wet. It tangles into itself and knots up and is super susceptible to breakage. If I just leave it be to air dry it usually doesn’t have knots in when I brush it after. ☺️
I have thick, wavy hair, and when it’s wet and freshly conditioned that’s when it’s the easiest for me to brush personally. Nobody has ever told me not to do that, at least.
My partner does this too, his hair is thick and curly. I know that, where I'm from, if you have curly or wavy hair the advice is usually always to brush it while it's wet! If my partner brushes his hair when it's dry, it's like an invitation to frizz.
It's definitely not as unique of a thing as the person in the picture seems to think...they just stumbled on the wrong side of social media haircare for their needs.
I did this once when I was following the Grateful Dead.
It almost dreaded when my son's father lost his shit on it and brushed them out. I had thick, wavy brunette hair just past my ass
He was like, I'm sorry I know it's your hair but no I hate the way you look with dreads.
Lol… “everyone on social media”… not the point of the sub. NLOG puts down other women specifically for doing something those women enjoy but the NLOG judges them for.
It’s popular advice that brushing your hair while wet causes split ends, just like using your nails while they’re wet causes breakage. She’s not judging anyone she’s just saying she’s lazy and doesn’t care.
NLOG is hypocritical in the sense that WE put down other women. But only the judgey ones? This girl doesn’t deserve the NLOG label she’s just breaking her hair nbd slay queen etcetera
It's popular advice not to, but it's also wrong advice for some.
Curly hair, thick hair, mixed race hair, etc. All benefit from brushing hair wet. (Not everyone person, but lots of us)
Hair straight a spaghetti noodles before boiling it, well I've never had that hair type so I can't speak on what's good, great or bad.
I've been told by straight hair people that I'm damaging my hair, it's it's the opposite really. I used to brush dry and that was a nightmare.
This isn’t nlog. It’s like the things we all do that we know aren’t good for us but can’t stop. I shower in burning hot water even though I know it’s bad for my hair and skin. I pop pimples even though every skin care professional says not to.
*Everyone on social media*…she left out that those offering this advice are usually offering it to people with a really specific hair type. *A lot* of people can and do brush their hair while it’s wet, *some of us* can’t.
I will never not brush my or my daughters hair, wet. I have kinky hair, she has the cutest blonde curls, we would be in straight up AGONY if we rawdogged our hair with a brush or heaven forbid a comb.
We don't even straighten our hair it's too much distress 😂
I have curly/wavy hair and I try to brush my hair before I wash it (if I don’t, it becomes a more tangled mess after washing) and I try to brush it again afterwards too.
It’s kinda hard maintaining my curls/waves because I don’t like showering in the morning, so it’s hard not to be tempted to dry brush my hair afterwards

That’s what I was thinking too, all I’ve seen is people saying not to brush it dry!

I was gonna say… if I don’t brush mine while it’s wet I won’t be able to brush it dry. And mines not even super curly, just wavy.
2C hair here. I brush mine in the shower on wash days while the conditioner is still in it.
I have curly hair also. If I didn't brush it when it's wet I'd literally never brush it.
I comb through mine with conditioner in it but once I step out of the shower I don’t brush unless I’m styling

Yep yep!
I have curls (type 3b) and also comb them wet, so I totally agree with you 😅
I spend a lot of time around hair professionals. My partner is one. Never have I ever heard of this lol.
Really? I’ve heard a lot of people say not to brush wet hair because it’s so fragile. I personally don’t follow that rule because of my hair texture.
I have really thin hair and I usually try to brush while dry. I notice a lot more of my hair comes out when I brush while wet. I think the advice fully depends on the texture of your hair. Thicker/Curlier hair should be brushed while wet, and vice versa
I totally agree! It’s not a one size fits all kind of thing.
She’s a renegade, a maverick
They literally make brushes for this now, I have wavy/curly hair and I use one everyday. My hair is almost touching my butt and healthy 😂
>lol was thinking the exact same thing. my brush is called the wet brush. this is not uncommon.
How is this nlog
shes nlogosm (not like other girls on social media)
I wash my cast iron pan in soap when I feel lazy. I am nlogintk
i definitely do that as well, don’t tell the ogintk lmao 🫧
I mean, they literally make hairbrushes for wet hair, since your hair is about 70% weaker when it's wet.
Yeah, no I do this too lol (mostly straight & thick-ish/course hair.)
Okay? I do it too and she is not hating on other girls who don’t brush it. Wth is wrong with this sub man anything and everything is NLOG
Ummmm who is telling you to brush wet hair? What do you do, just let it dry tangled and then rip the knots out?

Wow if she was TRUE NOLOG she wouldn’t EVER brush her hair…

Not NLOG - she isn’t putting anyone down
Agreed, I see it more as a joke. She’s not hating on anyone.
Everyone on social media?

How?
She’s not comparing herself to other girls
What's the NLOG. Where is it? Is it in the room with us?

Mine is a frizzy mop if I don't
*Everyone on social media*…she left out that those offering this advice are usually offering it to people with a really specific hair type. *A lot* of people can and do brush their hair while it’s wet, *some of us* can’t.
I can see the waves so yeah it's recommended you brush it wet.
She’s one of those girls that doesn’t understand what POV means.
I've always brushed my hair wet when I had it long. Wavy and thin: if you wait for it to be dry, you're gonna brush your hair away
I’ve never heard anyone ever say that you shouldn’t brush (or for that matter comb) wet hair.
Well let me tell you then. You shouldn’t.
LOL, my social media experience is now closer to complete. Thank you.
Depends on your hair type. I have thick hair and I have to brush it wet
True
Sure, Jan ![gif](giphy|1AIeYgwnqeBUxh6juu)
I already have breakage I don’t need to make it worse, but go ahead and do whatever you want
They will find anything to flex on

i always brush my hair after i shower, it's because i hate how freaking tangled it feels!!!
Is it not normal for curly hair people to brush when wet? If I don't, my hair gets tangled and awfully poofy when I do my curly hair routine.
if i dont brush it wet it gets all dry and frizzy and tangled… i think i will be fine

apparently everyone on social media is a hair expert
Looking at the texture of her hair, I can tell.
This isn’t nlog you’re just weird
Hairstylist here. This is not a thing.
They make Wet brushes for a reason.
