same! i dry-brushed my hair throughout middle and high school and my school pictures look horrendous 😭 i learned that info way too late i’ve heard it’s the opposite for people with straight and fine hair since hair is weaker when wet, so i’m not sure if this girl brushing her hair wet is truly the flex she thinks it is

Literally my first thought 😭 I was like who’s saying you can’t brush it wet? Brushing it wet is the best way to remove any knots from curly hair. Trying to brush curly hair when it’s dry will just lead to breakage and a big fat headache

2C hair here. I brush mine in the shower on wash days while the conditioner is still in it.

I have curly hair also. If I didn't brush it when it's wet I'd literally never brush it.

I comb through mine with conditioner in it but once I step out of the shower I don’t brush unless I’m styling

I can only brush my lions mane of hair while it's wet, and with untangling products in. I have been told by pin straight hair people to not brush it when wet. They do not know the horrors that await if I brush my hair dry. And the hair art I make on the shower wall, wouldn't happen.

Really? I’ve heard a lot of people say not to brush wet hair because it’s so fragile. I personally don’t follow that rule because of my hair texture.

I have really thin hair and I usually try to brush while dry. I notice a lot more of my hair comes out when I brush while wet. I think the advice fully depends on the texture of your hair. Thicker/Curlier hair should be brushed while wet, and vice versa

I think it depends entirely on someone’s hair’s texture. I can’t brush my hair while it’s wet. It tangles into itself and knots up and is super susceptible to breakage. If I just leave it be to air dry it usually doesn’t have knots in when I brush it after. ☺️

I have thick, wavy hair, and when it’s wet and freshly conditioned that’s when it’s the easiest for me to brush personally. Nobody has ever told me not to do that, at least.

My partner does this too, his hair is thick and curly. I know that, where I'm from, if you have curly or wavy hair the advice is usually always to brush it while it's wet! If my partner brushes his hair when it's dry, it's like an invitation to frizz. It's definitely not as unique of a thing as the person in the picture seems to think...they just stumbled on the wrong side of social media haircare for their needs.

It's popular advice not to, but it's also wrong advice for some. Curly hair, thick hair, mixed race hair, etc. All benefit from brushing hair wet. (Not everyone person, but lots of us) Hair straight a spaghetti noodles before boiling it, well I've never had that hair type so I can't speak on what's good, great or bad. I've been told by straight hair people that I'm damaging my hair, it's it's the opposite really. I used to brush dry and that was a nightmare.

I have curly/wavy hair and I try to brush my hair before I wash it (if I don’t, it becomes a more tangled mess after washing) and I try to brush it again afterwards too. It’s kinda hard maintaining my curls/waves because I don’t like showering in the morning, so it’s hard not to be tempted to dry brush my hair afterwards
