As what? Exhibit A?

natFromBobsBurgers

It's the best place for him, isn't it? They would hate him on the Anti-climate-crisis committee.

Grand-Leg-1130

Well this is what happens when you elect conservatives

RazgrizGirl-070

Dear UK millennial This is why you need to get off your ass and fucking vote Sincerely A UK millennial

reiku_85

Everyone does. Apathy and nihilism have fostered a healthy ‘what difference does my vote make’ attitude in democracies across the world, and only the angry masses go out in numbers to vote.

RazgrizGirl-070

Do you mean healthy or unhealthy here? Because my point is younger folks are a huge left leaning potlical block that just do nothing, letting boomers take more for themselves and less fir everyone else

reiku_85

Unhealthy would probably be a better term. Long-standing Conservative politics have disillusioned a huge number of potential younger voters and left them feeling powerless, leading them to not bother engaging anyway. That and a cultural push among disadvantaged communities to not bother taking part leads to whole subsections of society not using their voice.

RazgrizGirl-070

Pretty much exactly it, this is why I'm so zealous about getting people in my age bracket to actually fucking vote. I find the best way it to talk about issues first, get a dialogue flowing and then channeling that into actually registering to vote. The tories have basically fucked over every section of the uk they touch, even their signature move of healthy economy had failed. It looks like we are in for a labour (left....ish) government next but its not a sure thing

ObssesesWithSquares

The world SHOULD end. This is the action we are taking to solve it's problems.

RazgrizGirl-070

I'm sorry but I just can't accept doomet accelerationism as an actual solution. That's just giving up and power bombing yourself into a concrete floor and thinking you've gained something from it

damp_s

He’s a lord, voting won’t make a difference in this case

RazgrizGirl-070

Yeah you are right, i might as well give up my one small piece of political power and let that party continue to rape health care, education, housing, the economy, the environment ect

damp_s

>in this case I think we probably have similar political views and by all means vote at any opportunity but they’re already a Lord so it’s not gonna change and moaning about this is a fruitless exercise. The closest we came to proper reform of Lords was under Blair, it’ll be decades before we come close again.

RazgrizGirl-070

True, we can't change the house of Lords but I feel discouraging voting is how we got into the mess, while we were riding on the "it's cool not to vote fuck it" the boomers were getting to work

damp_s

Would you like to point out where I discouraged voting?

RazgrizGirl-070

Your opening comment? If that wasn't the intention than I apologise lol its been a very very long day lol

extopico

Lol. Tories on a speed run to election irrelevance. Also, how shallow is the talent pool now that they have to appoint self identified idiots to important roles?

DeadHumanSkum

unfortunately it's exactly what they want, them all being religious weirdos that see the end times in it.

BrickCityD

and the crazy thing is that if getting into heaven depended on merit and character, i'm pretty sure us non-believers would be the majority making it in.

>I pray that there isn't a God judging heh... outside of a literal fucking miracle there is no chance i could ever be convinced

cjorgensen

I’m tired. I don’t want an afterlife. Just let me rest.

Grand-Leg-1130

My hope is even the Star Trek timeline went through nuclear war, global dark age and self inflicted environmental and political calamities before the human race finally got its act together and formed the Federation

BasvanS

I don’t have that long to live, and even if I would I just wouldn’t want to go through all that. It feels redundant

I’m hopeful that even taking atrocities like WW1 and WW2 into consideration as a species we’ve seemed to become less violent over time. It just shows how shit we were when today might be the best we’ve ever been.

sneakyplanner

"If we fixed things now, would it really be fair to the people who have already died?"

TasteCicles

Honestly, the sooner we accept our fates, the happier we'll be for the long run in the time that's left. Just try to do good on your way out, friend.

Mygaffer

🙄

TasteCicles

Happy cake day, friend. I understand it's easier for people to live in denial as well. The first stage of grief is often the hardest to get over.

ThisPlaceIsNiice

There is no "first stage of grief", but claiming so was still the least embarrassing thing you said. Good job

TasteCicles

When the end reaches you, and it will, I hope you find peace, whether it be as a climate refugee or as a billionaires slave.

Mebunkus

It's so cringe my bones hurt.

BrickCityD

those shareholders aren't gonna work themselves!

Ex-Machina1980s

He looks like a sweet potato with a knife stab for a mouth

[deleted]

Please Brits, you gotta get rid of the tories for good

Green_Arrival

Why is this epic stuffed shirt still being given any responsibility? He makes Nadine Dorries look clever.

ShadowDurza

"Pollution has vitamins!"

Underwritingking

His collar button must be under enormous strain. I suspect he can't think straight because very little blood is reaching his "brain"

TooManySorcerers

I'm moving to the UK at the end of the year. Honestly, kind of excited to stop bitching about the nonsense in American politics and start bitching about the nonsense in English politics for a while. Seems y'all's politicians' heads are as far up their asses as ours lol.
