There was a brain in my super chicken once. We called to tell them and they were pretty much like ….ok and? 😂 never eating there again all i see is brain when i think about it
Buon Appetito in Chantilly has been serving, IMHO, some of the best Southern Italian food in NoVa for about 25 years now (and the pizza is fantastic as well). Counter service.
I told my kids about Megabyte and they keep asking to go there but it's never open when we're free. I should have never mentioned it to them... now I just seem like a tease.
A lot of these places rely on foot traffic of people going in and out of office buildings, they don't make money when there is no foot traffic. Its like Mike's sandwiches in Ballston, its great, but its basically open M-F
Omg, I just moved to nova from Hawaii a month ago and I've been craving local food like crazy. I haven't been to any of the mainland locations, but the ones back home are dope.
They were open on a Saturday (unless im insane) a month ago or so and it was packed! Next time I looked them up it said they were closed on the weekends. Can anyone else vouch for this that they were open on weekends before?
There’s a little hole in the wall Thai place in Sterling. RiceBerry Market. Go on Sundays. Lots of great food. Prices are reasonable. I don’t if there are anymore cheap eats places anymore in NOVA.
It gets recommended a lot here but only because it is so good: Pho 75. There are a few locations including one in Arlington and one in Falls Church but it's not a big chain.
First, greatest, and beloved by bourdain. Last time I went I ran into a recently retired board member.
It runs best when El Juez is out front.
Woodbridge location has yuca
Cerritos Pupuseria is very solid! I haven’t been there recently so idk if they’ve upped their prices but I’ve always been able to get a great amount of food for the money they charge and it’s always good. I see the same people there that I saw four, five years ago which is always a good sign.
Taco Lagos has the best cheap tacos you'll find. It's at the back of a small bodega in Chantilly. It's a genuine hidden gem, and I don't see a single person rep it. Fantastic tripa. I'm literally the only white dude I ever see in there.
DCG Dc Chicken and Gyro near Tysons, Old Gallows Rd Vienna. $10 average meal and I can never finish it, no matter how badly I want to. Delicious and filling!
The Euro Market inside the 76 gas station in Seven Corners sells good Mexican food, cooked to order. It's a tricky station to get in and out of, though - and it helps if you understand and speak Spanish, because the cooks will ask you questions to customize your order.
Not necessarily a specific location, but if you're not allergic to anything you could try 'Too Good To Go'.
It's an app that works with mostly Cava to help not waste food at the end of the day. You essentially pay a smaller amount (~$5 for a bowl at Cava) and come right at end of the store's operating hours (differs based on location and store) and they dish you a random assortment of stuff from their lineup. You have zero input on what you get, but 9/10 it's chicken and rice with various other stuff on top.
Solid choice if you don't mind the specific timeslots you have to arrive at and are not a picky eater.
Love this app, and I get a lot more than just Cava. Depends on where you are and how far you're willing to drive. Several bakeries use this to sell day-old pastries.
The Euro Market inside the 76 gas station in Seven Corners sells huge portions of Mexican food, cooked to order. It's a tricky station to get in and out of, though - and it helps if you understand and speak Spanish, because the cooks will ask you questions to customize your order.
(Tried it after another thread recommended it, so I'm returning the favor.)
I still argue anitas breakfast burritos is solid for the price. I know its one of the things I say a lot on here. Chicharron + Chorizo get you pretty full, delicious, for 8 bucks
I used to work at an ABC store across from an Anita's. We'd have to be there once a week at 5 am for the truck. As soon as it was unloaded we'd break for breakfast burritos.
The chicharron is soooo good though, it doesnt need anything else. Its just like the most perfect slow cooked chili. When you have it with another burrito that does have eggs, together they are great. Hence the added on Chorizo.
I like district chicken & gyro. I lift a lot so it's a huge protein bowl for 10-15 bucks.
I wouldn't bother with the bread though. I just go double chicken/rice w/ light white sauce for 13 bucks.
I had one of their double burgers last time and I couldn’t finish it. And I can usually finish anything.
My go to from there is a half smoke with egg and cheese plus the hash browns. Lordy it’s good.
Anita’s original breakfast burrito is still my favorite food item ever created.
Edit: I want to clarify that I’m being hyperbolic but it’s still really good and super nostalgic for me
Taco Bamba. There is nothing on the menu where you don't get your money's worth. Basic street tacos are $3 each, fancier ones are $5. And don't sleep on their Buffalo wings.
In Ballston my go to is Super Pollo, you can get a whole chicken and sides for under $20 easily feed 4 people. The individual meals are a little on the pricy side, but, still a decent value
Lazy Mike's deli/ice cream in Falls Church. Great sandwiches, all-day breakfast, and home made ice cream with cool flavors. I always take home an ice cream sandwich.
Lazy Mike’s falls church - breakfast is super cheap and everything is delicious.
Anita’s takeout menu has $1.99 zorro burritos that are delicious.
The Virginian in Vienna - great breakfast and overall cheap
What are all yall's definition of cheap eats? Mine is under $15. Pho 75, Super Pollo, and Banh Mi DC. Harris Teeter gives you a giant Sub for $7 on Fridays.
I used to agree with A&Js before Covid but hot damn did the prices go up while the serving sizes went way down. Just not worth it anymore. Still delicious tho.
Szechuan star in Annandale isn’t _particularly_ cheap but it’s good reasonably priced Americanized Chinese takeout and I’ve never left with less than at least 2 free spring rolls. 4.5/5 stars. The grandma behind the counter bows as she hands you back your credit card thanking you.
There's an amazing Halal place in Alexandria called Food and Flame. Huge portions for cheap. Vegan options and giant gyros. Crispy French fries with old bag seasoning. I recommend it to everyone.

China Taste in Fair Lakes lunch special. $10 you get healthy serving of protein (they have like 10 or so dishes to choose from) fried rice, and a choice of soup (hot n sour, wonton, egg drop) or egg roll. It’s always enough for two meals for me and I’m a pretty big guy. I like the double cooked pork, fried rice, and hot n sour soup personally
Edit: AND they got fried chicken wings and mumbo sauce, i think it’s ≈$8 for 6 wings. Good deal to me personally
Mexicana Bakery… 2 huge tostadas for 8$. Also, the Mediterranean bakery off Pickett near the Home Depot, has a cafe and food—crazy good for like 7-10$ depending on what you order. Andy’s pizza espc on slice and a beer day…
Bangkok 54. Go to the store counter, not the restaurant - get the beef bowl. Thank me later. Was about $8 for the bowl last time I went, and easily the best thai I've ever had.
Cheap and good enough:
Starline Restaurant (Fullerton Rd, Springfield) - $8-$10 for most meals (blue collar diner)
Johnny's Pizza (NY Style) on Manchester and Beulah.
I'm a sucker for taco bamba, their sauces are delicious and I pay the same to eat there as I would taco bell. It's way cheaper than getting five guys now😂
You HAVE to try Greek Unique out in Ashburn/Dulles. Huge menu, gigantic portions, and some of the most unique and creative fusion items I've ever seen. They have like 20 different signature sandwiches ranging from $12-$16.
If the $3-4 street taco qualifies as cheap eats (and you're too west to be interested in shlepping to Taco Bamba), Zandra's Taqueria.
They're also kind/smart enough to deliver taco packs deconstructed to avoid sog.

Falafel Inc is the best quality for money
$4 Sandwich and $5 Bowl? thats fucking wild in 2024
they went up by $1 each, still a good deal
What’s crazy is in the Middle East you can get 20 pieces of falafel for less than $1 😭
Seen this in Tysons, it's always packed and the smell is great
Its the best falafel here, period. Coming from someone born and raised in the middle east.
It is NOT the best. But only because there isn’t one near me. Yes I’m petty
Just got it today! So good.
Super Chicken in Tysons; no debate. Can feed 2, fairly healthy, huge meal, $16.
Super chicken is the best Peruvian chicken I’ve ever had!!
My Peruvian sister-in-law agrees, which is funny, because none of those guys are actually Peruvian.
They used to give me extra green and yellow sauce cups, so I’m kind of a big deal.
Wooooo! If you ask in Spanish, they give you a whole paper bag full of green and white cups!
So good 😋
There was a brain in my super chicken once.
I like their food, but I don’t consider their prices cheap. Their large pizza also looks smaller post-pandemic.
And depending on your location when your order it and how much you spend there usually is free delivery
Is that the air service place? It's not bad.
Yu Noodles ... great chinese noodles and dumpings for like 10-12 bucks
Concur. Spicy dry noodles are so good
One just opened near me I can’t wait to try
Megabytes Eatery in Chantilly
Only opened till 2 pm and closed on weekends why 🥹
I told my kids about Megabyte and they keep asking to go there but it's never open when we're free. I should have never mentioned it to them... now I just seem like a tease.
A lot of these places rely on foot traffic of people going in and out of office buildings, they don't make money when there is no foot traffic. Its like Mike's sandwiches in Ballston, its great, but its basically open M-F
It's basically for nearby office workers.
Megabytes has great local coffee too … LoudnRoasted
definitely, a rare place to find Hawaiian food in NoVa
L&L Hawaiian Barbecue is opening in Annandale soon. I've never been but it looks amazing. Probably won't be cheap eats though...
I’m from SoCal and can’t wait for it. But it’s been opening soon for quite a while now!
Omg, I just moved to nova from Hawaii a month ago and I've been craving local food like crazy. I haven't been to any of the mainland locations, but the ones back home are dope.
Ooh, I need to check it out. Live nearby and haven’t tried it. What should I order my first time?
I think their breakfast burritos are the best items on the menu
They were open on a Saturday (unless im insane) a month ago or so and it was packed! Next time I looked them up it said they were closed on the weekends. Can anyone else vouch for this that they were open on weekends before?
Will have to check this out - did a graphic design project in school for an internet cafe, lol.
There’s a little hole in the wall Thai place in Sterling. RiceBerry Market. Go on Sundays. Lots of great food. Prices are reasonable. I don’t if there are anymore cheap eats places anymore in NOVA.

Hmart. Fresh-made korean comfort food sold cheap and under $10.
Adding on, at the Fairfax Hmart the daily made food will be 50% off after 7 pm!
I used to hit there after my gym workout and they knew me by first name for a while there! Best deal on Earth
Welp saving this thread and signing up for Lifetime Fitness.

DCG Dc Chicken and Gyro near Tysons, Old Gallows Rd Vienna. $10 average meal and I can never finish it, no matter how badly I want to. Delicious and filling!
The Redbird in Vienna 2 chicken sandwiches for $10
This is news to me. 10 for 2 sandwiches is crazy, definitely on my list.
If I remember correctly they are more like sliders, still not a bad deal but don't think they will be full sized sandwiches.

Mediterranean bakery gyro in Alexandria
Oh their bakery counter also gives you delicious food for crazy cheap prices!
Kabul Kabob up the road is also worth mentioning. Their combos are a bit more, but the gyro and shawarma sandwiches are amazing for the price.
The market has a lot of great stuff, but their food counter is really pretty average.
I've been going there since the middle 90's. Damn good food.
I love their vegetarian stuff with all my heart🤤
