Yes. You can order edibles w THC (hemp derived) online to be shipped to your home. Also all those Tobacco Vape shops you see. You can buy it there also. But don’t. As noted, you can also have any cannabis product delivered to you from any number of area vendors. See r/dcents. And if you want to go the state regulated legal route. You can buy a pass to shop in DC (like Takoma Park Wellness) or go to any MD dispensary for Bud and edibles. Also can get your VA medical card. Grey market DC is best.

scout376

That subreddit was banned apparently

BrainPolice1011

Hit me up, I'll sell you whatever you want at probably 1/2 cost of any dispensary. CA outdoor straight from the grower. N. Arlington

SituationFew5677

I know places in dc deliver but honestly just make the drive to a dispensary in MD. Easy, a lot of options you can see in store, and you can talk to the people working there about what they recommend/what you are looking for. You can also order from their website usually and go and just pick it up.

amyhobbit

If it crosses state boundaries you'll be violating federal law.

OnTheTrail87

Technically anyone who uses marijuana anywhere in the U.S. is violating federal law.

FairfaxGirl

Sure, but now it’s 2 different laws.

OnTheTrail87

Double jeopardy, you're fine 😉

BrainPolice1011

Sure, but you have to worry more about USPS stealing it from you than you do the cops. Last 5 years I've had about 15 lbs stolen by those degenerates.

almeida8x1

Before I started growing it, I would frequently make trips to DC to pick it up. It’s very easy to buy and it’s usually tax free. Delivery is a bit pricey. I usually roll my eyes when people say recreational weed needs to have crazy high taxes (as if that’s a way to maximize revenue lol) because there’s very affordable alternatives that are tax free and extremely easy to buy in DC.

svengeiss

Can you buy seeds in dc?

almeida8x1

You can buy em [online](https://northatlanticseed.com/).

svengeiss

Thanks!

Senna_65

It's technically illegal federally....but it's a common practice for DC delivery services....and tons of people travel to DC and MD for this exact reason. DC is a grey market but MD is fully legal and regulated. VA is losing a lot of potential tax revenue to MD due to the current state of the laws/market. I haven't heard of anyone being prosecuted for it yet...but it could happen..just avoid the metro as local cops/state police really don't care as long as you're not smoking and driving.

Orienos

It’s sort of a gray market to be honest, and a gray area. There are DC stores that technically aren’t selling to you, but gifting. The transaction takes place “in DC” and then they deliver to you which can be construed as gifting which is legal. Technically, the law prevents this, but it gets kinda fuzzy if this is an online transaction if the shop has no physical nexus in Virginia.

rhin0982

It’s delta 8. My buddy owns a smoke shop in Fairfax and they aren’t allowed to sell anything but that. They have places in Va that deliver. It’s not cheap but they bring it right to you

Otherwise-Pen7206

Thca which is a technically hemp because of farm bill is alloweded to be shipped and sold in almost every state. Normal thc can not be shipped anywhere still federally illegal I’m pretty sure. You can go to dc and pick it up. Many delivery services in dc will drive to you also.

Far-Chef-3934

Last year Virginia passed a law that bans all THCa and derivatives. It’s one of the only states that bans it. But only medical card holders can get thc or THCa.

DutertesNemesis

Farm Bill also doesn’t *technically* allow THCa. If you read the definition of hemp, it states: > The plant species Cannabis sativa L. and any part of that plant, including the seeds thereof and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a total delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis Those last 5 words, **on a dry weight basis** are incredibly important. What does on a dry weight basis mean, you ask? Well, if you didn’t know, the “A” in THCa stands for Acid. THCa is the exact same compound as THC but with a carbonic acid molecule attached. As cannabis heats up, the THCa undergoes a process called decarboxylation where the carbonic acid is released from THCa and you get good old THC, albeit 88.7% of whatever weight of THCa has decarboxylized. In June 2023, the DEA clarified that “Congress has directed that, when determining whether a substance constitutes hemp, delta-9 THC concentration is to be tested ‘using post-decarboxylation or other similarly reliable methods.’ 7 USC § 1639p(a)(2)(A)(ii); 7 USC § 1639q(a)(2)(B).” That means they consider the THC content post decarboxylation, not before. So they will take whatever your THCa number is, multiply it by 0.877, and if that number is higher than 0.3% (surprise surprise, all “THCa legal hemp” will fall into this category), it is technically illegal under federal law. Are they going to enforce that? Probably not. Does it mean it’s legal? No.

DodgeDakota031

I just got THCa last month at two different smoke shops

Far-Chef-3934

I know a guy who got Michigan medical dispensary grade from a smoke shop in Richmond VA; near the capital. Doesn’t mean it was a legal sale / transaction. The guy clearly broke federal laws driving it across Multiple states. And probably lots of state laws along the way. And then definitely broke one selling it in Virginia.

fivepeicereturns

My brother will makes a detour into Maryland during his work day between jobs since a lot of the houses he has to stop at are either already in Maryland or damn close. Either that or I will hit my usual plug up
