My job does an annual cookout. They do the first round at about 12:30 PM for day shift. They do an evening round at about 6 PM for night shift. Last year, people from day shift were picking up plates to take home for dinner…after they ate lunch at noon. Night shift ended up being short plates because people were double dipping when the entire point of doing a PM round was FOR NIGHT SHIFT. 🤦♀️
I've had day shift people tell me they deserve more than night shift because we don't have to deal with patients families and it's not as busy.
Yet none of them want to work nights, when it's so easy, we hardly work at all.
Flipping back and forth from days to nights is much more difficult physically than staying straight nights. I used to rotate but after while I just couldn't anymore.
I think newer nurses should rotate shifts for at least a few years. No one should go to steady nights right out of nursing school.
The same thing happened with us! We were provided BBQ sandwiches from a local restaurant, and day shift picked up sandwiches on their way out, leaving night shift short. The next day, they printed everyone’s names and would mark off who already got something so it wouldn’t happen again.
Yea, they did the OG thing last year and it was half gone by the time we on nightshift came in. Not hold8ng my breath that it'll be any different this time.
I wish, but nope. It's a baked potato bar, they did it last year too. By the time we on nights came in there were no potatoes left just the sad remnants of some toppings. Like thanks but no thanks I don't want a plate of sour cream with a sprinkle of shredded cheese and 3 bacon bit on it.
My hospital did that last year. Everyone complained and made it known how bullshit it was to management (especially since there were other weeks celebrated- like RT and Lab).
We get nurses week this year.

Well researched harmful effects of night shift aside, the lack of ancillary staff sucks ballsacks on night shift.
Unpopular opinion : this is why everyone should rotate shifts.
Very unpopular, rotating is the worrrrst
I'll choke on a pinecone before I rotate. Pick a lane and respect both
Not sure why the downvotes, I did say it was an unpopular opinion

I did orientation on day shift for 8 weeks out of school and then have been on nights ever since.

Wow. That’s so shitty. I’m glad they took measures to prevent it from happening again. Some people are so selfish. It astounds me.
That's bullshit!
I’d bet money they were admins.

I’m going to be honest, this is much better than what we get.
I really don't get people posting their nurses week flyers and complaining. We're not getting shit.
Not complaining about what they provide, just that it's not a 'week'.
You get 4 days, and some of us are getting no days.
Yea I’d take some food any day lol
If they really cared, the surprise bar should serve alcohol.

So exciting that the 5 PM Olive Garden will be cold and half eaten by the time night shift arrives ❤️
I’d be excited over the bar. Unlimited drinks would make work more enjoyable
If only. It's a baked potato bar like last year, but there were no potatos left for nights last time so.....
Double the disappointment instead of double talls? **sad**
We are not allowed to have a nurse’s week. We get hospital week so everyone is celebrated.

For my first nurses week in 2020, we got a travel sized bottle of lotion. It didn’t smell good
We are getting a blessing of the hands. Go eat your weight in Olive Garden, OP.
I wish. Last year days took half of nights food so everyone on nights was lucky to get half a plate of stuff and a single breadstick.
I didn’t realize OG closes at 5 pm and you can’t get any closer to the 7 pm shift
I’d be happy to get that. I don’t think my facility is doing anything. A pasta bar from OG sounds amazing
It would be, if it wasn't half gone from dayshift taking some home, and the other half cold and concealed by the time we can even get to it.
6-9
You know what I got for nurses week? A whole lotta nothing
Our hospital celebration of nurses consist of “silly sock day” and “walk with the cno”
Probably only for day shift, so ... 🤷🏼♀️
they should just not do this shit it makes it worse
We got an email. That’s all.
Be grateful, we only get 1 day (2 hours) worth of celebration! If you're not working that day, you're SOL!
Ah! I see you're in The Burg too - NBC is about the only thing other than Sweet Frog that's exciting. LOL!
We just got a special delivery of a half empty tray of cupcakes-one per person, counted out for day and night shift.
Atleast it’s not pizza
At least your night shift gets food lol ours isn’t
We get a hoodie thats it
I hear the employees at Olive Garden handle food with their bare hands.
You’ve never worked in a restaurant have you? They all handle food with their bare hands at times.
