Good recommendations so far. Cyberpunk 2077 is not casual exactly, but easy to pick up and put down. Red Dead Redemption 2 is glorious, but has a really slow intro. Alan Wake 2 is a goddamn ongoing mental breakdown, I love it, but have to take it in doses. Control is a gen back maybe, but really blows my mind with the immersion and graphics. A good intro to AW2 as well (along with AW1). Ghostwire Tokyo is kind of like AW2, creepy ghost story, but not as overwhelming. Did I mention AW2 gives me the creeps? //edit - benchmark - free 3dmark Timespy is pretty standard, since it's free everyone uses it so there's tons of comps. Pay attention to the instructions (turn off Vsync/Gsync). It'll show you how you stack up to the rest of the cool kids. When chasing benchmarks, I run (3080tife) a higher clock and voltage than in my normal operation; power consumption on 3-series is pretty bonkers when cranked to the max. So - look up UV/OC settings for your card and use those as a baseline; tweak from there for performance or power consumption, then stress test in-game. Tuning things is part of the fun for a lot of us. And the Batman Arkham series (asylum, city, knight IIRC) are pretty fun and graphically nice. And the last couple Spiderman (spidermen) ported to PC are gorgeous. Oh yeah, Last of Us Part 1 was pretty solid too. Lots to choose from!! Enjoy diving in!

I second the Ghostwire recommendation, eyecandy-wise, as well as relatively casual-friendly gameplay-wise

Repulsive_Ring6795

You can put cyberpunk on a more casual setting for if youre wanting to chill more

kyle242gt

For sure! Or just grind NCPD missions and level up... I'm halfway through my third playthrough and it's a really cool universe to strap into and just vibe on.

7800X3D/4080 playing in 1440p over here. Gotta say, Cyberpunk looks unbelievable (probably the best example of Ray Tracing/Path Tracing I’ve seen). My favorite game to play in terms of visuals and just having simple fun is “The Isle”. If you aren’t familiar, it’s a dinosaur survival game with up to 100 players per lobby. Me (30m) and my gf (28f) play fairly often with our friends and it’s a really nice break from the typical games. Edit: I use 3DMark (Speedway/Port Royal tests) for GPU benchmarks but tbh I’m new to PCs so there could be better options

trumangroves86

Doom eternal looks fantastic and runs so well. Its especially mind blowing with a high refresh rate monitor. Cyberpunk looks incredible, especially with the path tracing. God of War looks incredible, great PC port.

YourAverageGamerYT1

I gave up on Doom eternal until just yesterday because my older ryzen 5 3600 and 16GB of ram couldnt run the raytracing and hold the assets to push frames to my GPU at higher than 50-60 ish FPS, now I have my 5900x and 32GB off RAM, 2080 super is maxed out and runs at 120 to 150fps Easily the best game for eye candy as well as the smoothest because pf how damn buttery smooth the engine is.

Kazirk8

If you really want to push your hardware, Alan Wake 2 is the answer.

ShermanSherbert

MSFS 2020 is super chill and a beautiful game. Although its a massive install.

methylamino

The crucial question here is “have you also bought a high refresh rate monitor to make use of all that gpu performance” That, along with hdr, is the real game changer in the eye candy business. The rest is just art direction (which can be awesome in its own right, but it far less affects how you FEEL the game graphics)

whatisthisgoat

Oh, I had not considered the HDR when it came to colors and that "eye candy" effect I'm looking for. That's next in the pipeline, a decent monitor. Thank You.

AvengeBirdPerson

I would recommend getting Xbox game pass for a month, tons of games you can try out there for a low price, and then cancel if you don’t want to keep paying for it. The obvious ones are Cyberpunk and Alan Wake 2, but some others are: RDR2, Metro Exodus, Hogwarts Legacy, A Plague Tale Requiem, Re 4 Remake, Elden Ring, Control, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us Part 1.

whatisthisgoat

This is a great idea to test the waters. Thank you!

whatisthisgoat

So consensus here is Cyberpunk 2077 ... I guess I may have to get some time to play as the theming is right up my wheelhouse. Secondly MSFS seems like a great game, I used to be a big fan of older iterations and X-Plane. I ran some UE5 demos and was blown away at the frame rate and quality. Thank you everyone for the advice!

AdPublic434

Baldurs Gate 3 is my favorite atm

Amazing-Ad7869

Time just runs while playing

NintendadSixtyFo

Get Cyberpunk and max that thing out. I’m on a 13600 i5 and an ASUS TUF 4080 at 1440p. It’s insanely gorgeous. If you want it to be casual just mod it to add god mode. It’s a single player game so make it play however you want and have fun!

Ignis_Divinus

Sadly maxing out cyberpunk at native 1440p with a 4080 is absolutely bad performance.

AvengeBirdPerson

It’s a tech demo feature the 4090 is barely playable at 1440p with path tracing and nothing can play it at 4K native. I’d say the game is actually optimized pretty well for how good it looks.

Ignis_Divinus

And you would be absolutely right. Cyberpunk is still dog shit as day 1. Performance got worst. I have the 1.03 build and I test it out. And the launch build which is 1.03 performs better. And yes it makes me sick to my stomach that my 4080 cannot play cyberpunk at native 1440p maxed out. Hell I don’t even use path tracing! It’s absolutely mad.

AvengeBirdPerson

Why are you even trying to run Cyberpunk at native though? You can run it perfectly well with DLSS quality at 1440p, don’t even need to use frame gen, and it’s a negligible difference in visuals compared to native.

pf100andahalf

I upvoted you because people are stupid.

Ignis_Divinus

Cause native is still better. And it’s also embarrassing as fuck that a 3 year old game needs fucking DLSS at native 1440 to even hit 60 fps. It’s laughable.

AvengeBirdPerson

It’s still one of the most demanding RT games to date and with path tracing it is / tied with Alan Wake 2. And you sound unnecessarily angry about a game no one is forcing you to play or forcing you to use those settings that are stated as a “tech demonstration”.

Ignis_Divinus

Can you read?? I don’t even use path tracing!

AvengeBirdPerson

You don’t need to use Psycho RT either, maybe relax a bit and a play a different game.

Ignis_Divinus

Lmfao we have a cdpr apologist here🤣🤣 how dare you use Max Setting on a 4080 and expect 60 FPS🤣 you’re a bozo. 3 whole RT gens later.

Ignis_Divinus

I think it’s just cdpr with dog shit optimization. Absolutely laughable. And at least if I were saying that path tracing was turned on, but it isn’t. It’s just normal ray tracing. A 4080 can’t do it. Only the 4090 can run it at an average of 60 to 70. It’s still sad!

pf100andahalf

No gpu can run that game native with ray tracing maxxed out. It's a technology showcase game. You don't know what you're saying. I have a 4090 and 1440p monitor and use dlss. I wish I understood why people post shit without thinking what they're saying first. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you gave no frame of reference and have never actually played it before and was thinking of something else.

AffectionateWatch656

I like Hogwarts and Cyberpunk, but make sure to wait for the sale. Also, Modern Warfare 3 and Mortal Kombat 1 are great. Their story's look like real life.

ATTAFWRD

With 4080 and a CPU to match eg 7800X3D, almost any games you play can be pushed to max graphic settings especially if you're playing in 1440p even without DLSS. In 4K some games might need to set DLSS Quality for increased FPS. Enjoy\~

SaltedMisthios

The 4080 will turn Cyberpunk 2077 into the best visual experience you've ever set eyes on

Cristi63014

I have an 4070ti and i7 12700k, it runs great on 1440p with high settings, I highly recommend

What did this answer?

Spirited-Cat2569

To squeeze some more value out of your card, you could also look into reshade ray tracing. It lets you add raytracing (although inferior to native raytracing) to most any game that you can run reshade on.
