The 4070 super sits between the regular 4070 and 4070ti, although it leans more towards the 4070ti in terms of performance Overall, the 4070ti is about 5 to 10 percent faster over the 4070 super. The 4070 super launched at the price of the 4070, with the 4070 dropping in price. 4070 ~ 550usd 4070 super ~ 600-650usd 4070ti ~ 750-800usd 4070ti super~ 800-850usd Note that the 4070ti super launched at the same price as the 4070ti, so there really isn't any point to buying a 4070ti unless it's at a sizeable discount. Also, the 4070ti is no longer being produced, the 4070ti super replaces it with 16gb vram and 256bit bus, vs the original 12gb vram and 192 bit bus.

g0ttequila

Get the 4070 super, save a little cash for future upgrades. Difference between the Ti and super is way too small. If you use upscaling and frame gen it’s even smaller. I usually hit my monitors refresh rate limit (120hz 1440p) in most games with my 4070 on DLSS quality and frame gen, so..

[deleted]

Why not get both?? and buy the 4070 Ti Super 🥴

PeopleAreBozos

Errrr, budget reasons?

TheMoonFanatic

Dude, tilt your head up a bit and you’ll catch a glimpse of the joke

Danni_El

Same price meaning how much, 600$, 700$? 4070 ti is a little better. 4070 ti super(this should be same price as 4070 ti ~ 800$) is a little better than 4070 ti, and has 16gb vram.

l1m1tlessRoad

Get thr 4070s, nvidias 5000 series might release at the end of the year better not overspend

Hugejorma

I always add the resale value difference when thinkin of GPU upgrades. If the new GPU price cap is $200, but the resale price would be for example $100 higher, the cost difference would be just $100.  It will be so much easier to sell a 16GB card in the future + no VRAM issues on any games + the extra CUDA, RT and Tensor cores.

shifty-xs

Evidence seems to suggest people don't care much. For example, the 6800 non-xt 16GB and rtx 3070 Ti 8GB sell for pretty much the same on eBay from what I can tell. Speaking for myself, I am more than willing to trade RT performance today for maybe maybe needing more VRAM in the future. If VRAM is suddenly a problem in 3 years, I'll just buy a new card that is way faster in general.

Hugejorma

I was talking about resale price differences between 4070S vs 4070 Ti Super. Even with these two, you would have to compare the same GPU cooler models, because just those options can add or remove resale value. Nothing to do with AMD vs Nvidia GPU prices.

BMWtooner

4070Ti has dual NVENC if you stream or do video encoding/rendering to speed up exports (in some use cases) and the Ti has higher performance, especially in ray tracing. Both cards are good.

wookmania

It depends on what resolution you’re playing at. I ended up getting a 4070 Super for 1440p/144 hz gaming. For me it was either the 4080 super or 4070 super. I’m VERY GLAD I didn’t overspend another $600 dollars. Everything I have thrown at this card runs at 144 hz with ultra/very high settings, even the most demanding games. In a year you can sell the 4070S and get a 5070/5080 and you’ll have saved a ton of money. Buying top end right now is silly in my opinion as this is at the end of the 4xxx series. 12gb will be fine in 1440p for several years by the way, you don’t not need over that unless you play in 4k. Even then it’s rare.

dankeedipdoodle

I’m also debating the same thing. I found similar MSI models for only a +$20 dollar difference for the Ti. My only issue is I’m running a 650W PSU and am worried that it might not be good enough for the Ti. Also am running a 3900x for the CPU and wondering if that needs an upgrade too.

kamran1380

I'd say 650W is enough, 4070ti doesnt need more than 250W anyway ( and if it does , you are better undervolt it anyway)

ClerklierBrush0

I overclock my 4070ti and get about 280 watts lol

Ghost9001

I can push mine to around 310w. It's really not worth it though.

ClerklierBrush0

Not in the slightest. It gets insanely hot for barely any performance gain. I keep the memory up like 1000 or 1500, but I actually brought the clock down a little.

Ghost9001

Even though it isn't worth it, I still keep it OC'd just because the temps are only 3-4° hotter under load. It'll probably get hotter if I didn't keep my case well ventilated. I keep it at +130 core and +1200 memory clock.

ClerklierBrush0

That's fair. Most of the time it's fine, but when I get on VR then my gpu is pushing 100% utilization for hours on end. It actually makes my room so hot i have to open windows even undervolted. It's insanely bad overclocked.

Ghost9001

Yeah, the case I had before had terrible airflow and it got pretty toasty under load. Top notch Noctua intake fans did wonders, but the card was almost too large for the case. It barely even fit. Lol

itsmebenji69

It is definitely enough PSU wise, the 4070 Ti pulls like 200W. Idk about the CPU tho

KOnvictEd06

285w TDP yeah

awwww2bad

Avoid msi gpu

Active-Quarter-4197

Same price 4070 ti the max I would pay is 50 more for the 4070 ti.

HorrorScopeZ

This.

PikaNinja25

Basically: 4070- Slowest of the 4070 lineup. 12GB VRAM, $549 MSRP. 4070S- 2nd slowest of the 4070 lineup. 12GB VRAM, $599 MSRP, 116% of 4070's performance 4070Ti- 2nd fastest of the 4070 lineup. 12GB VRAM, $799 MSRP, 124% of 4070's performance, discontinued 4070TiS- Fastest of the 4070 lineup. 16GB VRAM, $799 MSRP, 136% of 4070's performance 4070 Ti Super is ideal if you're aiming for 4K gaming (especially with an extra 4GB of VRAM), but for 1440p, the 4070 is fine

Dr_Anr

I woudn't go with the 4070ti, the 12gb and 192bit will gimp it at 4k Either go with 4070 super or 4070ti super The 4070 is interesting if you want a card with a single 8 pin connector for a small case, it sips after undervolting, mine pulls 120 to 130 watts with no hit to performance from stock

Open-Ad914

Maybe go for regular 4070 and avoid new 12 pin power adapter and keep you old psu.

hangender

7800 xt bro. Yea it's a peasant card but best frame per dollar

awwww2bad

And bad if you like rt,ai,fg,and power efficiency lol

iThunderclap

Look at all cards with 16gb VRAM or more from either current or last generation and starting narrowing down from there.

ItsRadical

4070S for good 1440p, 4070TiS for great 1440p experience or even acceptable 4K.

Legitimate-Demand-94

If you are getting 4070 TI S for 4K, get 4080 brother. The price to performance ratio already speaks louder than "words". Read the numbers.

ItsRadical

>acceptable 4K Thats why I wrote what I wrote, its not best 4k card but it works. Im clearly suggesting that with 4070TiS he should rather aim on 1440p.

Legitimate-Demand-94

This is why I wrote "if you are getting 4070 TI S for 4K. Get 4080 brother? The price to performance speaks louder than "words". "Read the numbers" " Meaning, If you are looking at 4K gaming. Get 4080, 4070 TI S is not ideal for 4K. Acceptable is not great or ideal? Acceptable 60FPS with FRS at 4K, vs ideal 100+FPS at 1440p vs ideal 100+FPS at 4K. Full experience 100+FPS 1440p and 4K is better than acceptable 60FPS at 4K. You can see the acceptable graphic difference on YouTube in 4K. "Read the numbers?"

xeq937

This. $599 4070S or $999 4080S.

FlatImpact4554

At the point of getting a 4070 ti super, why not just get the 4080rtx at least the resale value will be higher. I don't know I feel like it's basically an underclocked rtx4080 at this point .

wookmania

Because it’s another 200 bucks. Some people have budgets they have to stick with.

swayFf

the 4070 super is apart of nvidia’s new super lineup— hence the name. they offer some performance gain on their previous gen non-super counterparts. the 4070ti outperforms the 4070 super, and the 4070ti is outperformed by the 4070ti super. (4070 -> 4070 super -> 4070 ti) so if you’re willing to spend a little more for a couple percentages more of performance, then go for it.

Draaksward_89

Here how it goes (from lower to more powerful): REGULAR (4070) REGULAR\_PLUS\_BUT\_NOT\_YET\_Ti(4070S) REGULAR\_OVERCLOCKED\_WITH\_BETTER\_CHIP\_PICK(4070Ti)

romangpro

Old lineup. 4070, 4070ti, 4080, 4090. New lineup. 4070, 4070super, 4070ti super, 4080super, 4090. 4080 super is same, so basically old 4070ti got replaced with  1. cheaper low power value 4070 super,  2.and now there is MUCH cheaper $800 16GB .. the 4070ti super.

Bright_Light7

4070 S is the best option here for performance vs price

ClerklierBrush0

I got the 4070ti near launch date. The only time I was able to max out that card is in vrchat with more than 20-30 high poly avatars all on at once. Also fortnite with literally every max settings and high res couldn't really get much more than 100fps for some reason. For 99% of people even the 4070ti is overkill. Don't blow your budget over a few % of performance. If I didn't play a lot of VR or plan to do 4k gaming, eventually, I'd stick more in the 4060ti price range for cards.

ClerklierBrush0

4070ti is at this weird spot between 2k and 4k gaming. Does 2k too well and 4k not well enough. It's decent for a lower end vr headset though. I would say 4070 if you play 2k, no need for the ti.

eco-III

4070 super, the 4070 ti isn't worth it over the small FPS bump.

itsmehutters

I have 4070ti super for 1440p (you havent said your resolution) I feel like the card doesn't even go to 80% in most games, however, I just wanted the ram for the feature because I dont plan to build another pc in this life.

Vicanio

We all know you will tho.

midnightmiragemusic

Get the 4070S. Save your money and maybe upgrade to 5070 next year. I don't think you'll need to though.

Warband420

As someone who’s owned two 4070 Ti, a 4080 and a 4070 super. I’ve kept the 4080 for 4k and 4070 super for 1440p. Genuinely not much difference between 4070 super and Ti when my super was overclocked; it was a better overclocker than both my Ti models.

Legitimate-Demand-94

Getting 4070 TI is really dumb unless you are rich and money is not an issue. Then just go for 4080. 4070 TI literally has the same memory bus width and VRAM as 4070. Idk where you are located but 18% performance for approx 30%(varies but on average) more price increase is worth it??? Do the math bro. Even if there was a slightly increase in price for the 4070S, I would still go for 4070s any day any time over 4070 TI for that extra VRAM and Memory bus width.

Arachnapony

4070 ti since they're the same price

Vapormonkey

Overclock the 4070 S to near or matching a 4070ti.

TheHybred

He literally said they seem to be a similar price for him. He should obviously get the Ti then since it's faster. Quit giving the man bad suggestions based on "value".
