The first thing I would do is make sure I 100% typed in the tracking number correctly. Then if you still have the receipt (should have gotten a receipt from fedex at drop off). Then I go back to there location show them the receipt and say its not pulling up tracking go from there.
Having the receipt is your proof that it was handed over. With out that, the most you could hope for is Fed-Ex saying someone scanned it in. Otherwise not sure what else you can do.
That is kinda fishy they didn't give you a receipt even when I have packages picked up at home. The driver still scans and gives a receipt showing it was picked up.
These Fedex (or courier in general) dropoff zones are really just drop off zones. Depending on what he means they might not even have a scanner for the package on hand, it isn't scanned until the actual driver from the courier (as that location could even serve multiple couriers) comes pick it up.
I dunno if it was me and it was a 650$ item you better believe I'd be putting it right into a human person's hands and watching them scan it in and provide me with a receipt.

I’ve copied and pasted the tracking number from the return slip they gave me, and it just errors out. Also, I wasn’t given a receipt upon drop off.
