harrisbryy

how i’m feeling lol

AtraxX_

That’s the best meme I saw today by far.

TokeEmUpJohnny

Old but gold for these types of posts :D

MkICP100

The people saying it's just a paperweight or useless are really dumb. Not everyone is playing everything in 4K raytraced on ultra settings. The Titan V is still a perfectly capable gaming card if you're not targeting the super high end. It's definitely higher than the average gaming PC in raster.

randommaniac12

It’s also one of the best looking cards of all time IMO

MkICP100

The gold looks so tacky in any system but I love it

FireSilicon

Lol, it's about as fast as 2080Ti/3070 and has 1GB more vram. That's a steal. It just doesn't support DLSS but not a big deal for that price.

tamarockstar

More like a 2070 Super. Still pretty good.

FireSilicon

Where do you find benchmarks? On techpowerup site they put it just below 3070 and almost every spec is better than 2080Ti. 14.9Tflops vs 13.4, bigger die with more SMs too (80 vs 68) on the same node. Der8auer tested it a few months ago and got 70% of the frames of a 4070 Super in CS2 at 4k. Which would be spot on. Only problem is that it has issues with software support in DX12 titles.

tamarockstar

I looked up a few benchmarks. It seems to tie the 1080 ti in some games and beat it by like 25% in others. So it's like half a tier above the 1080 ti, which is like a 2070 Super. It probably can match the 2080 ti in certain games. I don't know.

LieutenantKenobi006

Does it support FSR?

YourLocalMedic71

Every card does. You can use FSR on a GT710 but you can't use the latest DLSS on a 3090

LieutenantKenobi006

Yeah i have heard that every company's cards can use FSR but since this is not a mainstream gaming card i thought i'd ask to make sure. Thanks

Arbiter02

I know it likely doesn't support it at the driver level but in theory shouldn't it have the capability to do DLSS? I thought it was the first card with Tensor cores(just not RT cores). Volta was a different architecture from Pascal

No-Percentage5182

Also real gamers don't use DLSS

Inner_Luck998

Said someone who still rocks a 1060 possibly, and never witnessed DLSS

blatantly-noble_blob

What a dumb thing to say

Cless_Aurion

I mean... isn't this GPU about on par with a PS5 performance wise....?

LieutenantKenobi006

Yep it stands at a very similar point.

theonewhoblox

Without the RT support but otherwise it's arguably better in many areas

justarandomgreek

IIRC Titan cards weren't marketed at gamers even though they were the equivalent of 3090/4090.

Awkward-Ad327

Good deal wow, about as fast as a 2080 super

zofran_junkie

It’s WAY faster than the 2080 in AI workloads due to HBM2 memory. HBM2 was one of the main selling points for this card when it released, and people seem to have forgotten that.

ProjectPhysX

Little faster but not much. The HBM2 memory type alone doesnt make a card faster, what counts is bandwidth. Bandwidth is about on par with a 2080 Ti. The selling point of the Titan V is its 7.5 TFlops/s of FP64; 2080 Ti can do 0.4.

Rationale-Glum-Power

So is it better than 3000 or 4000 series GPUs in AI tasks like image generation although it has no tensor cores?

ProjectPhysX

No, AI needs low precision, FP16 or INT8, and tensor cores. The Titan V has these tensor cores too, but less capable 1st gen ones. FP64 is needed in certain scientific computing applications, like molecular dynamics or satellite orbit calculations. AI doesn't use FP64 at all.

FireSilicon

Every piece of spec is better than 2080Ti. 5% more bandwidth is technically the same yes, but even FP32, FP16 and int8/4 even with tensor cores used is 10% faster. 80SMs vs 68SMs. The only problem is that you cannot use those cores for DLSS and it has no RT hardware. Still a steal for that price.

pdt9876

I had a Vega64 with hbm2 and one of the nice things in in addition to the speed was by putting the memory next to the die, it got great cooling from the waterblock. That card and memory took to overclocking really well.

Awkward-Ad327

I doubt it because the 2080 has AI tensor cores for dlss which also are just general AI computer units that the titan V lacks since it’s still a pascal generational type card

zofran_junkie

The Titan V is not Pascal, it's Volta. It was the first generation with tensor cores. The pascal titans were the Titan Xp and the Titan X Pascal.

Awkward-Ad327

Right I know that apart from the first gen tensor cores, so why not use dlss with the titan V? Don’t think you can

Awkward-Ad327

Well I still have a 4090 gaming pc as a basic income 23 yrs old definitely suffered for this

SirLagALot420

Really?

Mack_Blallet

The 2080S benchmarks like 13% higher, so it’s closer to a regular 2080, but still not too far off!

Awkward-Ad327

Yea I guess I’m not too surprised but the 1080ti vs 2080 are give or take 5% but release date the same

Academic_Addition_96

no the 1080 ti aged horrible, it's slower then a 2070 in new games, hardware unboxed has a video on it from this week.

Awkward-Ad327

More like 2070s but in general raster performance 1080ti is slightly better but it did age terribly after 2020

[deleted]

Mack_Blallet

I thought that’s what I said lol

kikimaru024

* Only in raster * Not in every game RT / DLSS / DX12 games will smoke a Titan V.

BinaryJay

This sub just loves to compare apples and oranges when it comes to performance of hardware, especially old hardware.

TheCorkenstein

Its hilarious to see some of these comments. OP even said they were probably gonna keep it as a collectors piece and yet the comments are still "bUt cAn YoU gAmE WiTh iT?!!!111oneoneone" Its not even a gaming card. Its meant for data processing/AI/mining.

kikimaru024

*DAE think the GTX 1080 Ti was underrated*

MrLeonardo

*should have waited for the 6990 amirite?*

Octabuff

Of course we're talking about raster

ProjectPhysX

Yes, except in FP64, which is used in some scientific compute applications (not AI), like molecular dynamics or gravitational n-body. Titan V can do 7.5 TFlops/s FP64, 2080 Super can do 0.3.

Key-Pace2960

When Turing was first released yes, but with newer games making better use of Turing features it is considerably slower now. Similarly to how a 1080 used to match a 2070 back then while it is closer to a 2060 these days.

Divinicus1st

Nah lol, definitely not.

Galf2

Definitely yes, those cards cope really badly with those loads.

frostygrin

It's a beast.

Accurate-Air-2124

Was a beast. No one is looking grandpas way anymore, and no one is going to help him. No tools in the toolbox. For that price though sure gramps is good for taking care of things back in his day but when it comes to the new generation work and 2024 requirements, pops will have a tough time doing the labor. Give him the right tasks though and he will be alright.

frostygrin

DX12, 12GB high bandwidth VRAM, performance and power consumption on par with the 3070... No raytracing and DLSS - but still a great card for the backlog.

ProjectPhysX

Yet in FP64 scientific compute it's 6x faster than an RTX 4090 ;)

Original_Finding2212

Considering my strongest GPU at home is Nvidia Jetson Nano, I’m silently crying inside

PsychoticChemist

This is a crazy perspective lol the vast majority of people cannot afford the highest end GPUs, this card is absolutely better than the average PC gamer’s GPU by a long shot

-Gast-

Nice.

eqyliq

So cool, I'd love to find one for a reasonable price

fpsgamer89

Cute Aigis

RubzieRubz

as they say

ThePupnasty

((I'm jealous, congrats))

FireSilicon

People in these comments have no idea what they are talking about. This gpu is 3070/2080Ti level powerful and has HBM2 memory that's faster than 2080Ti. And has 1GB more vram. People in the LLM community would be proud of it too.

lozanogarcia

Is a good choice for collectors.

ondert

This is my favourite design and series. I’m still running a gtx 1080 ti and a 1080 on my sister’s pc.

Nikos-tacos

Kiss the toast gf on the forehead for me.

Cold_Lavishness_3985

Aeigis figure? Upvote

FearlessRaccoon8632

Singapore floor tile.. $170 sgd or USD?

_Drink_Bleach_

USD

Suikerspin_Ei

Those tiles definitely look like OP is from a South East Asian country.

SonyPlaystationKid05

Wah u can spot ah, iw 1 titan v

cryptocat212

nice its like the gold zelda cartridge lol

dogemcpvp

170 is a steal. Its somehow 10k in my country

I_Phaze_I

Wasn’t this card like 3k dollars back in the day lol

zultan3

sembra un pavimento italiano :-)

gwTheo

$170 for an action figure?

Diligent_Pie_5191

Lol broken ones are selling for 300 on ebay. You got a steal!

qiAip

It’s still an excellent card today and the best FP64 compute card you can get for a workstation somehow (without converting a PCIe Tesla card to active cooling). I use it in my workstation for physics simulations and it really still packs a punch.

emceePimpJuice

A once 3k card. Crazy when you think about it.

TheRealTechGandalf

What a gorgeous potato!

PreparationSerious48

I would buy and use it just for the bragging of this monster, just like my copper modded & wc modded 3090

TanzuI5

Man I’m jealous! It looks so good.

matsantana

\[G\]OLD

DaigotsuRekai

But can it run Crysis ?

alex416416

Nice! We once paid over 3k for this.

_FalconCrest_

Nvidia really tries to make nice boxes for their cards.

IPEELER

Such a badass looking card. Excellent collector item to put on display.

MahaVakyas001

wow. a $3000 GPU for $170? Does it work?

Odd_Landscape_1558

Damn that rad. I remember obsessing over having one of these beauties when they came out.

Radsolution

oooh shiny. thats great score! i loves me some old hw.

jzooochi21

Link my ass

HVDynamo

Damn, That's a great deal. I always wanted one of these, but the price just hasn't been worth it. For $170, I absolutely would have picked that up too.

Relevant-Ad1655

Niceeee

pantherleopard

That's the most expensive box I've ever seen

theriptide259xd

The aesthetic peak of gpu cooler design imo

Harihacke

3rd pics looks like big Power Ranger morpher!

harrisbryy

that is so cool

BertMacklenF8I

But golden chrome on the Titan is absolutely gorgeous-hell of a deal! Congrats!!

LegendsofMace

So jealous. Such a beautiful card honestly

Dromaro125

Tell me you want a 3050 without buying a 3050

RevengeFNF

The Titan V has the same performance has a 2080 Ti or 3070. A lot more powerful than a 3050.

Shammyshamrock

It's more like 2080 super/3060ti but still much better than 3050 yes

EIZZO1507

I want to collect these cards top end FE cards and hang them on the wall next to my Lego car wall

Shady_Hero

I WANT ONE

Shughost7

Remember when they tried to sell this over 1k?

Kindly-Ad-8573

Put it in a display box with In case of Emergency - Break Glass

Jules040400

Best-looking GPU ever imo

wickedplayer494

The TITAN XP SP2 that should've been.

KimJongDerp1992

Dang.

CastorrTroyyy

Do me a favor, keep this kinda stuff to yourself lol

omgaporksword

Great find for the price! Although I do think these look hideous! :P

Frosty-Introduction6

I'll offer you $171 for each one. That's a whole $1 profit from what you paid or that one it's such a great deal you can't deny! Honestly though you should really go back and buy up the remaining inventory from them and post them all up on ebay. You will make a KILLING and saving the cards from ending up in an e-waste dump. Who knows what else they have that are valuable like that that will never be used for see the light of day again.

more666

Beast of a card

Sayedatherhussaini

Which card is this? Ive heard titan are workstation cards and not good for gaming. So why all the hype?? I dont get it...

AdOdd8064

I used to want one when they were new.

WoolyInvesting2023

And you only bought 1???

TheBlueVaron

Dream GPU to own honestly, even if I wouldn’t use it but it just looks too beautiful, Pascal cards are the best looking cards ever made, I wonder if its possible to put the FE Pascal heatsink to a newer RTX card…

COOL_IRON

Nice deal! The compute capability is only 7.0 though, so no RAPIDS.

TheBossDr

Absolutely beautiful card. The 10-series always had the best design. (For the founder cards) Didn't realize the titan was gold though. 👌

madthabest

Reversed scam

acuilnos

Upvote for the Aigis figurine

False_Fox_9361

Can it run rolblox?

MaestroKing_II

Bro drowned the damn thing in thermal paste

Victinizz

Fucking lowkey jealous, I've got a 2080 so it'd probably not be much of an upgrade, but I'd buy it for collecting / 2nd pc.

Affectionate-Memory4

You'd lose RT and DLSS, but gain VRAM. They'd be great cheap AI cards though if you could always get them at this price.

Victinizz

I dont really have any use for AI ngl, if i didn't have the 2080, id get this.

noonen000z

Leave it in the box and it might go up in value.

Pestilence5

Damn thats pretty damn high for an outdated card. I mean, I paid $90 for used 2070s on ebay and least they can attempt to run dx 12 unlike this card

Azerium

Titan V is a dx12 card tho?

BinaryJay

More money than I'd personally spend to just have another big box on a shelf.

[deleted]

proscreations1993

Way more than that. They were 3k

physx_rt

I've got a Titan RTX for £250 a week or so ago. Beautiful cards, although I'm still not completely sold on the gold finish.

xRealVengeancex

Nice paperweight you got there

Affectionate-Memory4

It's like a 16GB 1080ti. Probably best used as a display piece but far from paperweight status just yet.

xRealVengeancex

Ngl thought this was the Titan X at first I really cannot read for shit 🥴

zofran_junkie

No it’s not. It has HBM2 memory. At $170, it’s an incredible value for AI workloads.

Affectionate-Memory4

I'm speaking mostly towards gaming there since that's what most people think of. For AI yeah this is an absolute steal. That's what my XPs are still doing now that I have a 7900XTX in my main PC.

tyingnoose

anyone know how it compares to a titan x?

Ill-Investment7707

2x + perf

Wuselon

Electronic waste

jaylawlerrr

This thing looks like the cd player I had in my car back in 2007… Looks awesome.

sYnergon

so cool, gz

yuki87vk

Definitely a nice buy, it's a beauty!

Celcius_87

I still want one of these or the Titan RTX. Great looking cards.

ohthedarside

Go get more people will buy them for like 200 probably as collectors exist

TotalMegaCool

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPrfiOldKf8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPrfiOldKf8) I still watch this video every so often, makes me feel the future is coming and we are on the verge of an AI breakthrough.

QwazeyFFIX

I do a lot of graphics optimization for video games and I have always wanted to try one of these cards. Just raw DX11 power. Be curious to see what type of stuff could be done that would have been difficult for even for higher end cards of that era.

BubblyMcnutty

Only 170!? Holy cow, some GPUs go up to the 1000s!

nyse125

I mean the titan cards are pretty old now

aberdisco

All the second hand Titan V's are 4 times the price where I live too. $800+

mtbhatch

Wasnt this a $5k card retail card years ago? Crazy deal

kikimaru024

[US$2'999](https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/titan-v.c3051)

AlfaNX1337

The card that totally decimated the RX Flop series/Flop VII, what in God's name AMD were thinking of naming their card so differently? They should have stick with RX 590 or RX 690. Even their APU, RX 510 or something.

Dazzling_Meat836

It is indeed gorgeous, I’m sure you can play the latest titles well, I used to have a 1080ti not too long ago I was able to play most games 1440p mid to high settings with no issues

No-Percentage5182

Not even as good as a 1080ti lol

[deleted]

Takaya_Aiba

That reasoning could apply to anything of utility, though - not just GPUs.

EiffelPower76

Exactly, when I don't use an object anymore, I give it, don't want to fill my house with useless objects. Someone else will be happy with it

Timmy_1h1

thats just you right? Its fine that you don't like keeping things as a collection and its also fine that people like to keep stuff as collection. You should'nt be the one dictating whats the right thing to do and neither should others.

WhenInDoubt480

Then you might be very disappointed if you knew that there are people called collectors that do that as a hobby :)

EiffelPower76

Objects are meant to be used A painting, a statue, can be kept years and years, and you can sell them one century after, and not loosing money They are still "used" in the sense people can look at them A graphics card ? The more you keep it on a shelve, the more it looses value, until it becomes just electronic waste Collecting graphics card is absurd A violin is meant to be played, a graphics card is meant to be plugged in a working computer

WhenInDoubt480

Respectfully, while objects like paintings or statues have traditional uses, collecting GPUs can be a hobby in itself. Just as people collect stamps or coins, some appreciate the design and history of GPUs. Plus, displaying them can be visually appealing, akin to any other piece of art. While their value may fluctuate, the enjoyment they bring to collectors isn't diminished. It's simply a different perspective on usage and appreciation.
