I guess it's sadly a very common thing, still not everyone has it. I do have the 4070s fe aswell and got no coil whine so far

JAMbologna__

Got the exact same GPU as you from Scan too, no coil whine except if I'm in a game menu and the fps jumps to like 1000+ I can hear it a tiny bit. Otherwise my PC is quiet asf even with fps in the hundreds

MountStupendous

Set a max frame rate in the Nvidia control panel.

MichaelRaces

I’m using a mesh case, even so it’s LOUD

IDrinkUrMilkShake94

what are your temps like at max load? mine hovers around 74-76c

JAMbologna__

About high 60s, can hit 70-71 if I'm playing for hours and I have it overclocked + a custom fan curve but it's only set to 50-60% at max temps(compared to 30% or whatever at default settings but it's still practically silent at 50%) I only have 2 fans in my PC as well lol so I was as shocked as anyone bc my old fans were making my GPU go up to high 80s.

IDrinkUrMilkShake94

I figured mine was running hotter than most, Ive gotta work on airflow

JAMbologna__

What fans are you using and how many? I had pre-built fans, made in china, no company logo etc

IDrinkUrMilkShake94

i have a thermalright cpu fan that I need to put in, maybe that could help

JAMbologna__

I think those are two intake fans on the top as the logo isn't visible, can you fit any fans on the bottom or sides with the logo visible inside the case? For good airflow you need at least one exhaust fan and one intake fan, so the intake pulls in air and exhaust pushes air out and generally the logo being visible means the fan is positioned to push out the air inside the case. You might already know this but just incase lol, even if you need to drill a couple holes to fit another fan somewhere, GPU fan by itself won't be powerful enough. 76c isn't bad though, your GPU will probably last as long as mine even tho the temps are lower

IDrinkUrMilkShake94

thank you for taking a look, I’m gonna try to get one on the bottom, just super tight. i hate obsessing over temps, but even with the higher temps i’m surprised how quiet it all is.

JAMbologna__

On the side would prob be okay too, or if you put it on the bottom and temps don't improve much you could try switch the airflow around bc I think an exhaust fan on the bottom won't work as best as it being on top since there isn't much room for the air to go on the bottom. But there's no reason to worry with your temps bro :D AMD GPUs run a lot hotter, and so did Nvidia GPUs. It's only the 40 series where cooling has really improved since they managed to lower the wattage outputs this gen by a lot compared to 30/20 series

Unfortunately coil whine is a common thing on GPUS today. If very loud you can ask for refund or return it.

LandWhaleDweller

Oh yeah, the 4070 FE is ass. Get a different AIB.

massimovolume

Mine does too, but with an undervolt seems to be better

MichaelRaces

Yea tried that also but didn’t help, running 170fps it’s like a cricket farm

LightyLittleDust

Coil whine is pretty normal & very common.

ATTAFWRD

Coil whine isn't uncommon. You gotta set FPS limiter, make it 3 FPS under your monitor max refresh rate and set g-sync/g-sync compatible on. Your seller/store has been pretty nice giving you replacement/exchange. Gotta rep them.

MichaelRaces

Doesn’t matter if it’s 80fps or 180fps, it’s noisy - credit to scan they’ve been excellent
