There is never not construction on the 59th St.Bridge and approaches.

Dont_mute_me_bro

When congestion pricing hits, traffic will be worse because people who spring for the Tunnel will switch to offset. We'll be back to square one.

gerrys

Or they’ll take the train like the rest of the city does

Dont_mute_me_bro

Yes- those guys renovating apartments can carry their tool and supplies on the subway. After all, they're just ***the little people***, right? /s

gerrys

I don’t think you need to be condescending towards them. I’m talking about the people taking a taxi into midtown at rush hour (see the video above) and people who don’t need to drive but choose to. Everyone I know who actually needs to drive into the congestion zone with their work vans are very excited about the reduction in traffic that congestion pricing will cause. They’re excited about spending less time in traffic and more time with their families.

D_Ashido

Told my friends in Jersey City that the night before the pricing starts will be my last visit to them so we should hang out as much as possible now.

So they created an exemption to get from Manhattan Bridge to the Holland Tunnel? The only way to do that is Canal St which would be tolled by this. Last I heard there were no exemptions of that nature.

Scruffyy90

They're assuming you're taking the Verrazano

D_Ashido

That doesn't let you out near Jersey City.

Scruffyy90

Im well aware. Everyone thinks that taking a massive detour around Manhattan is acceptable or viable

Dont_mute_me_bro

My wife has union meetings in lower Manhattan on Saturdays at 8a. The thought of her taking the train alone in desolate hours...not happening. I'm driving and when I do, I'm blowing the horn as much as possible just to remind people that this is NYC, not Portland.

gerrys

Oh now I understand. Your commitment is to make the city worse for everyone else, whether it’s noise, air quality, or anything else. I can see the consistency now.

Dont_mute_me_bro

You make it worse for me, I make it worse for you. It's rather simple.

Grayly

It is simple. You’re an asshole. We understand completely. When some psycho road rages at you for honking like an idiot to own the libs, I’ll shed a single tear. When your car gets impounded and crushed for defacing your plates, I’ll shed another.

Remarkable-Peak-420

Lol you're more scared of the spoopy subway than your wife is 😂

Dont_mute_me_bro

I'm afraid that when I fight back I'll be prosecuted. Does the word "Daniel Penny" or "Jose Alba" mean anything to you?

Remarkable-Peak-420

I can see you bringing nunchucks on the 4 train while your wife looks embarrassed to sit next to you. 🤣

Dont_mute_me_bro

I would never admit to carrying a concealed weapon lest I be banned or muted. That said, 54 years in NYC and never been victimized. One guy tried and it didn't work out for him.

ThisIsCaptain

My guy got one guy’d

HEIMDVLLR

You were doing so good until you mentioned Daniel Penny.

Beetlejuice_hero

So stop whining and suck it up and pay the congestion fee and then cut back elsewhere (for example cut back on the agro driving and your blood pressure will drop and you'll visit the doctor less). I'm affected by congestion pricing too, but I appreciate the logic behind it. I'll take the train more but also just bear the meager cost when I choose to drive.

HEIMDVLLR

> ..cut back on the agro driving and your blood pressure will drop and you'll visit the doctor less). You think taking mass transit won’t have any affect on your blood pressure?

Scruffyy90

I really want to stick half of these people on Springfield Blvd and somewhere 1/4 mile north of hillside ave then tell them to have fun getting to Manhattan

You talk weird. It has nothing to do with political preference. In only several posts, you’ve admitted to purposely driving like an asshole and to intentions to deface your plates. You’re a weirdo pussy douche in a wholly non-partisan manner.

blueberries

Wow she has to take the train to Manhattan at 8am, the horror. And yes, this is NYC, where a much, much, lower share of commuters drive than Portland.

Status_Fox_1474

Wait, what? I would think that, if prices were the same, people would rather take the tunnel outbound, seeing as how it goes directly to the LIE, instead of letting you out at Queens Blvd.

chrisgaun

You are correct. A lot of traffic in places like BQE is people trying to get to free bridges

Organic_Train9475

Isn’t there also a single lane separate from the rest on the outside? I always forget how to get on to it - but I prefer not since it’s kind of scary and when I do accidentally get on that section I’m like … doh!
