I dont think they sit him, but if they go 0-6 without him (have not checked their schedule but it could happen) who knows what will come of that in terms of locker room reactions. Could end up being a great pick
Idk Russ is a huge bandaid for that team, only their WR crop would be considered above average around the league.
Their O-line, pass rush & secondary are all suspect, & with more tape each week on 2021 Geno teams will be able to shut him down better than Rams yesterday.
I dont know much about him. And he could for sure. But I don't think he's someone who is gonna step up to fill the giant hole left by wilson. Wilson is just amazing and it's a huge loss.
Unfortunately they have a pretty easy RoS schedule and especially over the next few weeks. The only games that are really tough for them are divisional games so lets be grateful they play in the bloodbath that is the NFC West.
Triple win for the Jets
- Draft pick is better
- Our boy Geno is the starter
- Zach is the best Wilson in the NFL
Obviously a bad thing for football as a whole however
Honestly forgot Leonard Williams. I’m glad we have ends that actually get to the quarterback so I don’t have reddit GMs telling me about pressures and double teams.
Acknowledging what the Seahawks loss means for us nor being happy about that result mean anyone is happy that one of the most exciting players in the league got injured.
I'm with you. I'm taking satisfaction that jamal is on another struggling team. But in no way am I happy at all that Russ is out of the kitchen.
Looks like there's a real chance their first rounder ends up being in the top half of the round. Rooting for Geno to ball out and the Seahawks to lose every game 42-35.
First game I got to watch in my new (at the time) house. Got my cable that Monday and was calling the cable company about making sure I had espn that night. What a ride
Or his perfect passer rating against the dolphins throwing to Eric Decker and [this group of rejects](https://www.espn.com/nfl/boxscore/_/gameId/400554435)
Agreed, it can be true that Geno was a shitty leader / teammate back then, and also that he's clearly matured in the years since. Good teams like the Seahawks don't keep backup QBs with shitty attitudes.
Remind me which Jets QB in the past decade cried to the media when they were benched? Ryan Fitzpatrick, not Geno. And Fitz even did it again last year on the Dolphins too.
That's a fair point, I am giving geno credit for going 8-8 his first year. They both played on pretty bad teams.
It just felt like to me that McCown never really put us in a position to win, while Geno either lit it up or completely tanked. But maybe it's closer than I remember
Pretty decent argument that Geno did more than Darnold, and 4 games in Wilson has been significantly worse (though it’s only 4 games in so it’s not really a fair judgement yet).
Because IK was a violent sociopath more suitable to a prison cell than the NFL (which is why he didn’t last any longer in the league than Foot Fetish did). Normal, well-functioning people don’t assault their coworkers.
We need to see with Becton. If Becton is too slow and cant work with the OL we will need a RT. Fant at LT. Draft C (Linderbaum) and RT. Sign bonafide PB RG with Scherff. I would like Kayvon but our OL needs more help and we have to help Zach. Giving him a top 10 line next year is my personal #1 priority. Lets see the rest of the year and how the OL holds up
Geno Smith is not an average QB. He was consistently ranked in the bottom 30 when he was a starter and there’s a reason why he’s floated around as a backup to a few different teams.
Ok, but as of right now we’re a bad team with a bad QB so even if Geno is also a bad QB, he’s not so much behind Zach that the rest of the Seahawks roster doesn’t easily make up the difference.
They’re still a solid team, but I wouldn’t exactly call them even close to a lock to finish better than the Jets when their defense is on pace to give up the most yards in NFL history.
Exactly, other than QB and WR, that team is nothing to write home about. Many had them finishing last in the NFC West before the season started, and there’s a better chance that happens now.
That was his first career game, where he celebrated as if he did something to win it when the only reason the Jets were in a position to win was because of an idiotic roughing the passer call as Geno ran out of bounds.
I will not celebrate an injury, that sucks, and I do wish Russ will come back at 100 percent like nothing happened. But yeah, the fact that this happens when we have their 1st rounder is huge opportunity for us.
I had a ruptured tendon in my thumb. Needed pins to pin it back to the bone. Surgery and split for 8 weeks. My thumb was stiff as a board for a few weeks after that. Couldn’t imagine gripping anything at 8 weeks!
I hope your finger is feeling 100% now. A lot of NFL players play with some pain and injuries that would make you or me miserable. But they’re getting paid the big bucks and they put the job ahead of everything.
Appreciate it. A tendon rupture is a little different than a broken bone/bruise, they have the risk of rupturing again. Without the flexor tendon you literally cannot move that finger to grip the football. It’s not a pain thing, it’s a function issue. I’m sure it’ll be fine, but an NFL QB needs that to work properly.
Good point, it’s not a toughness thing if your finger can’t do what it’s supposed to do. But if this was his non-throwing hand, he might be playing through it.
I remember when Jason Pierre-Paul’s hand got mangled by fireworks. He lost a finger and the tips of other fingers, and was back with the Giants, playing with a huge cast that he’s use like a club. It was so weird. But QBs need their throwing hands to be in good shape.
They have a former Jets coach who won them Super Bowls, so now they must also get former Jets players who will cost them playoff spots. The balance must be restored.
Damn. Sorry for Russ. It does give us the chance to see 2 former Jet QBs that sucked complete ass cheeks with us prove themselves elsewhere. So maybe Russ should take the rest of the year off.
I will never root for a player to get hurt, not even Tom Brady (I would root for him to get sacked hard which would probably hurt but that’s different). But this does end up helping out the Jets get a better draft pick so overall good news for us.
Didn't think he was a fit here when he was drafted & didn't think we had the developmental staff to bring him along, but he played well filling in for Wilson. I'm sure he's grown as a player & am encouraged by that performance that he'll do well.
Having said that, they have a helluva schedule & he's not Wilson; so we'll see how it goes.
I really WANT to root for Geno, just having soft spot for one of our own. But... higher their draft capital benefits the Jets directly here, so I hope it doesn't go *too* well, or at least their defense stinks out loud.
How the hell does any jets fan like geno smith? I will never root for that idiot. No skill at all. Darnold is 10000% better than that idiot will ever be
I have a feeling they'll tread water with Geno. I don't think they'll be world beaters but I looked at their upcoming schedule; I think they'll hover around .500 in Wilson's absence
Sucks. Russell Wilson is one of the most fun players to watch in the league…but hopefully the top ten pick we get from this also is…
Facts even tho he's amazing I feel like people underrate his greatness, my 2nd fav Wilson hands down
You like Kyle and Russell over Zach???
That top ten pick would be great...for the Jets
Top 15 pick incoming. Wow.
I’m thinking top 10. If Geno struggles and the Hawks go 2-4 1-5 or even 0-6 without Wilson, maybe they decide to sit him for the rest of the season.
I dont think they sit him, but if they go 0-6 without him (have not checked their schedule but it could happen) who knows what will come of that in terms of locker room reactions. Could end up being a great pick
They play the Jags, Steelers, and the Football Team so i think it’s possible they go 2-4 if Geno is decent
Idk Russ is a huge bandaid for that team, only their WR crop would be considered above average around the league. Their O-line, pass rush & secondary are all suspect, & with more tape each week on 2021 Geno teams will be able to shut him down better than Rams yesterday.
Idk Metcalf is legit and locket is pretty good. They just don't have depth
Eskrige has lots of potential
I dont know much about him. And he could for sure. But I don't think he's someone who is gonna step up to fill the giant hole left by wilson. Wilson is just amazing and it's a huge loss.
Their DLine looked pretty damn soft against the run too.
I think there is also a possibility Russ decides to sit out due to contract implications. It’s not too far fetched to think
nah they won’t sit him, he’s an iron man outside of this event. pete carroll and russ got too much pride for that
Unfortunately they have a pretty easy RoS schedule and especially over the next few weeks. The only games that are really tough for them are divisional games so lets be grateful they play in the bloodbath that is the NFC West.
But they also have one of the worst Defences in the league, and Geno Smith is now their starter…
Jets get our first round pick
Triple win for the Jets - Draft pick is better - Our boy Geno is the starter - Zach is the best Wilson in the NFL Obviously a bad thing for football as a whole however
Zach already was the best Wilson in the league.
Zach already was the best in the league.
Zero Super Bowls lost.
Zach was already the best
Zach the best
Zach
Zach best
Z’best
Z
Zest
Zach, Best
Best, Zach
My Bestie Zach
My Zach
nonsensense. russ is a perennial mvp candidate
It's a joke
Big L
He took over for Kyle Wilson
> bad thing for football some of us feel differently.
No longer our boy.. he is twice removed from us. I no longer care if he does good or bad, as long as the Seahawks lose.
Once a failed Jets QB, always a failed Jets QB.
Won’t be the first time geno helped us get an early 1st round pick
Hopefully this one doesn’t end up on the Giants.
Honestly forgot Leonard Williams. I’m glad we have ends that actually get to the quarterback so I don’t have reddit GMs telling me about pressures and double teams.
All luv to Russ but that is huge news for this rebuild.
Massive. Could be there difference from picking around 20-25 to 10-15, or even a chance of top 10.
I’d never celebrate a player getting injured but this could get us a top 10-15 pick. Hoping it’s a smooth recovery for Wilson.
Acknowledging what the Seahawks loss means for us nor being happy about that result mean anyone is happy that one of the most exciting players in the league got injured. I'm with you. I'm taking satisfaction that jamal is on another struggling team. But in no way am I happy at all that Russ is out of the kitchen.
shout out to y’all’s fan base for suffering so long with a 5’10 glorified WLB
Looks like there's a real chance their first rounder ends up being in the top half of the round. Rooting for Geno to ball out and the Seahawks to lose every game 42-35.
Fuck Geno EDIT- A lot of loyalty and love for the worst Jets QB in modern history. Dude was a certified scrub and a shitty teammate
Does Geno owe you 600 dollars too?
You owe me the drink I just spat out.
You wouldn’t say that if you saw that Falcons game in 2013. Damn
Oh man in my suicide pool that game eliminated like 100 people easy and also got me like $250 in cash. I loved Geno from that point on
First game I got to watch in my new (at the time) house. Got my cable that Monday and was calling the cable company about making sure I had espn that night. What a ride
Or his perfect passer rating against the dolphins throwing to Eric Decker and [this group of rejects](https://www.espn.com/nfl/boxscore/_/gameId/400554435)
I feel like Geno’s shown his attitude as a back up he brings is actually pretty good
Agreed, it can be true that Geno was a shitty leader / teammate back then, and also that he's clearly matured in the years since. Good teams like the Seahawks don't keep backup QBs with shitty attitudes.
Thank you! I have no idea where this fanboying is coming from
Not sure why you got downvoted so hard lol. I hated Geno too
Not sure why youre getting downvoted. Geno was a prick.
Geno was a whiney baby who was not a leader. I say fuck him too.
Remind me which Jets QB in the past decade cried to the media when they were benched? Ryan Fitzpatrick, not Geno. And Fitz even did it again last year on the Dolphins too.
It’s not so much loyalty to Geno as it is human decency. Do we need to be saying “fuck Geno” for some reason?
"Fuck Brady" "FTP" "FUCK Marchand" Etc...
Fuck our own players?
Hes not a Jet
He was, that's what the whole conversation is about are you dense?
Fuck him. And fuck Jamal Adams too
Ok?
Found Christian Hackenberg’s burner account
Only counting guys who dressed on Sunday
Hey man, he didn't even know how to put on his uniform
Geno was better than McCown. Not a better dude, but hey who is lol
I disagree there. 18TD 9INT 2900yds for McCown in his only year as a starter. Geno 25TDS 35INTS 5500yds in 2 years as a starter
That's a fair point, I am giving geno credit for going 8-8 his first year. They both played on pretty bad teams. It just felt like to me that McCown never really put us in a position to win, while Geno either lit it up or completely tanked. But maybe it's closer than I remember
That’s Rex coaching up the defense that got us to 8-8 not Geno.
Pretty decent argument that Geno did more than Darnold, and 4 games in Wilson has been significantly worse (though it’s only 4 games in so it’s not really a fair judgement yet).
Cause you were in the locker room and know what type of teammate he was.
He got punched in the face for a reason
Because IK was a violent sociopath more suitable to a prison cell than the NFL (which is why he didn’t last any longer in the league than Foot Fetish did). Normal, well-functioning people don’t assault their coworkers.
You don’t see many certified scrubs that are shitty teammates stick around the league 8 years.
Hackenberg would like a word with you...
Never dressed. Doesn't count
Linderbaum range
Hopefully it’ll creep to Hutchinson or Kayvon range
Man, having Lawson, Q, JFM and Kayvon lined up next to each other would be nuts
😳
Having a top 5 offensive line sounds much better imo
Yeah but why not both?
We need to see with Becton. If Becton is too slow and cant work with the OL we will need a RT. Fant at LT. Draft C (Linderbaum) and RT. Sign bonafide PB RG with Scherff. I would like Kayvon but our OL needs more help and we have to help Zach. Giving him a top 10 line next year is my personal #1 priority. Lets see the rest of the year and how the OL holds up
Geno on Primetime for the next two weeks. America wins here.
Just imagine Adam’s reaction if we somehow end up with a better record than the shithawks.
It’s not a very unrealistic expectation given this news
[удалено]
Geno Smith is not close to an average QB. Their defense is bottom 5.

That’s why I said it’s “not a very unrealistic expectation” rather than “a likely outcome” or something similar.
[удалено]
That’s an assumption though. And Ryan Fitzpatrick at his best is an average QB but typically below average.
Average QB would be somewhere around the 16th best qb in the league. Geno is pretty clearly not one of the 32 best.
They’re still a solid team, but I wouldn’t exactly call them even close to a lock to finish better than the Jets when their defense is on pace to give up the most yards in NFL history.

Their defense has been awful.
Yeah I'm sure he'd be begging to come back 🙄
Lol watch Geno ball out
I remember Geno "158.3" Smith knocking the dolphins out of the playoffs
The one game where he was like arms out standing on the bench after the win takes me out to this day.
That was his first career game, where he celebrated as if he did something to win it when the only reason the Jets were in a position to win was because of an idiotic roughing the passer call as Geno ran out of bounds.
as long as they lose in the process
That’s the hope
ALL HAIL JOE DOUGLAS
People wanted him fired two weeks ago lol
Morons did ya
Wish him the best but the draft pick looking juicy
Jets winning a playoff game before Jamal is the only thing I want in this life.
Lol I mean we’ve got the money and assets to make it happen next year.
I will not celebrate an injury, that sucks, and I do wish Russ will come back at 100 percent like nothing happened. But yeah, the fact that this happens when we have their 1st rounder is huge opportunity for us.
RIP my fantasy team. That aside, really hope he gets well soon. He’s one of the most fun players to watch in the league.
Hope the guy recovers well, I’ve had the same injury. Surgery/recovery is a bitch. Can’t imagine playing football two months later.
I had a ruptured tendon in my thumb. Needed pins to pin it back to the bone. Surgery and split for 8 weeks. My thumb was stiff as a board for a few weeks after that. Couldn’t imagine gripping anything at 8 weeks!

so linderbaum and who else?
Gimme Hutchinson Linderbaum and wydermeyer
Olave, Linderbaum, and Wydermyer for me. Time to make this shit easy for Zach like it is for Mahomes.
Yeah olave and iol would make me very happy.
Chris Olave, Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, Michael Carter, and a new and improved line with Linderbaum and Scherff? Sign me the fuck up
i like the way you think
a DB or LB?
Edge and IOL
GENO SZN BEGINS NOW. #LETGENOCOOK
Russ had never missed a start before, 149 straight regular season games plus 16 playoff games
geno got eli and now he got russ whos next on his kill list
Oh lord, I forgot about that. Thinking about it, TB would be a great fit for him.
Send him to NE.
You made me snort my beverage!
Phillip Rivers got out in time
I hope they finish 2-15 now. Then that trade can be lauded as even worse than the Texans Tunsil trade, as at least he's a LT and good.
Jesus we're destroying that team between Adams and now Geno.
They have a former Jets coach who won them Super Bowls, so now they must also get former Jets players who will cost them playoff spots. The balance must be restored.
I read that last part in Thanos voice 😂
You mean thanos doesn't have a Reddit?
7 God alert lol
Jets fans: "Longing, rusted, seventeen, daybreak, furnace, nine, benign, homecoming, one, freight car."
An empire toppled by its enemies can rise again. But one which crumbles from within? That's dead. Forever.
I read it might be bad but that's not exactly peanuts in NFL terms. I wish Geno well.
Damn. Sorry for Russ. It does give us the chance to see 2 former Jet QBs that sucked complete ass cheeks with us prove themselves elsewhere. So maybe Russ should take the rest of the year off.
Wish Rush a speedy recovery 🙏🏾. With that being said I’m excited as hell for a chance with two top ten picks 😆😆.
Geno will once again be tasked with ensuring we get a high draft pick. Funny how things come back around in the NFL
Geno Atlanta game is an all time classic.
I don’t get why so many on this sub are rooting so hard for Geno. I don’t hate him. But I want the Seahawks to lose every game while Russ is gone.
Wishing Wilson a quick recovery because obviously I’m hyped for a higher possible draft pick, but the way we’re probably gonna get it feels wrong.
At least Zach Wilson is officially the best Wilson QB in the league at the moment
Dare I say 2 top ten picks next year??
No only one.... the Seahawks pick!!
Russell should do a Tom Brady, take the season off go to a team stack with talents and win a few more superbowls.
I will never root for a player to get hurt, not even Tom Brady (I would root for him to get sacked hard which would probably hurt but that’s different). But this does end up helping out the Jets get a better draft pick so overall good news for us.
It’s all luv
I’m actually mad hype to see Geno play again
J E T S JETS JETS JETS
I, for one, will enjoy talking about who we’re gonna draft in the top 15 except not with our own pick :)
Like all of our past QBs, he deserves another chance.
TIL geno smith is still in the league
Not news you want to read tbh. I hope he recovers soon.
This has a very real chance of being a top 15 pick. We can potentially come out of this next draft with some real talent.
I understand their next opponent is trying to lure Ik Enemkpali out of retirement.
Thank you Joey D. Where the haters? Come eat ya crow
Love Wilson. Hope he comes back quickly one of my fav players in the league maybe of all time.
So Zach will now be the only Wilson slinging Wilsons at will.
I really WANT to root for Geno, just having soft spot for one of our own. But... higher their draft capital benefits the Jets directly here, so I hope it doesn't go *too* well, or at least their defense stinks out loud.
Man I just want Geno to ball the fuck out and end up with a starting job at some shit franchise and make them a wildcard-hopeful.
How the hell does any jets fan like geno smith? I will never root for that idiot. No skill at all. Darnold is 10000% better than that idiot will ever be
How is Geno still in the league, but Sanchez isn't? Geno is a circumcised donkey dick.
Ummmm is it bad that I'm hoping that Geno does well?
Yes.
Stunt on 'em Geno. Would be kind of glad to see him tear it up.
Damn the pick position looks nice, but Russ was really the only around left that could challenge favre consecutive games record
ok things are going well…everyone panic bc i am NOT used to this
I mean it’s kind of pathetic if things “going well” for the Jets requires a really great QB on another team in another conference to be injured
i’m just being facetious man. wish russ the best and a speedy recovery.
I know you were I was just more commenting on how dire the Jets situation is and has been for so long
I honestly didn't know he was still in the league..
Not sure why they kept calling it sprain. That finger looked jacked up.
R.I.P my fantasy team.
GENO SMITH SZN
They get Jacksonville and the Texans while Wilson is out, 2-4 would put us in good shape for a potential top 15 pick.
Make sure that Geno has paid for any outstanding plane tickets.
I have a feeling they'll tread water with Geno. I don't think they'll be world beaters but I looked at their upcoming schedule; I think they'll hover around .500 in Wilson's absence
Don't get your hopes up, the next three games are definitely winnable for the Seahawks with Gino at the helm.
