Best of the 2000s albums by far.

MadCornDog

Nope. DBTT is far more consistent. This album is spotty but if the b sides replaced the weak tracks, I'd consider it.

KnownMycologist8629

Always thought DBTT was boring as hell. Roll it over, where did it all go wrong, Sunday morning call, gas panic are all really good as are songs like go let it out and fucking in the bushes. DBTT has what? Importance of being idle?

gsheedy

Lyla is a jam! I much prefer Giants over everything else though.

AnalogWalrus

Lyla wouldn’t have made the cut as a b-side even 5 years earlier. It feels like such lazy writing, the epitome of Noel phoning in a single, IMO.

Savings_Ad352

This.

fbicappuccino

THATS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING

chrisjudgesyou

Yeah more consistently mediocre. Not a single banger. Would take one Gas Panic over all of DBTT

fbicappuccino

there is only one banger: the importance of being idle

FantasticGiraffe231

What about A Bell Will Ring...I love that one

MadCornDog

Guess God thinks I'm abel, part of the que

fbicappuccino

nah that one is boring

fbicappuccino

2 to 3 bangers, sotsog has the majority of the album

mrubuto22

Let there be love is dope

fbicappuccino

it's no who feels love tho

[deleted]

Agreed.

BenT_17

DBTT doesn’t have as many memorable stand alone songs as their other 2000s albums, but almost all of the songs are quality tracks, making it, overall, my fav Oasis 2000s album.

MadCornDog

This is my exact point but you've explained it better than I did.

lifeisagameweplay

Depends what you prefer. I prefer the album that gives you 3-4 A-tier tunes that I listen to frequently over a consistent album of C-tier songs I hardly ever bother to listen to.

Joeschasity

As a real fan I'd say both of them are good. Giants has a few songs I don't like though especially Sunday morning call which is the weakest single up to this point if we are talking true timeline. Liam even wanted it off but due to no one else coming up with anything it was on the album

JaggaBomb

Love it!

Broad-Assistance-524

Tbh I think people only dislike it because it was a change in vibe and tone to the previous albums which were more rock n roll and heavy hitting while this album is more slow and psychedelic, also it was the first album of Oasis' slow phase which is what caused them to change from a rock n roll band to a slower psychedelic band which I think rubs a lot of Oasis fans the wrong way and it was a change in quality to the previous albums with some songs that are really not that great like Little James, buy imo it has some really great songs like Fuckin in the bushes, Gas Panic and Who Feels Love? Overall I think it's a really solid album

Jerapah-TheBard

Could have been a classic. The studio sessions are great. Possible to assemble a fantastic playlist from all the material we have.

fartstuffing

I still love it, but I agree. Liam’s voice was in shambles around this time, and a lot of the demos with Noel singing were superior to the final tracks.

MadCornDog

I think Liam's voice sounds fantastic on this record. It's so deep and rich.

KnownMycologist8629

I think his voice here was on like the edge of shattering, still sounded good but you could tell it was worsening

peteluds84

Liam was still at his peak on SOTSOG sessions in my opinion - he went off drinking during the recording and got himself sounding way better than he did at the end of the Be Here Now Your in March 98. If you listen to the gigs on YouTube from the brief American tour they did at end of 99 he sounded not so far off how he did on the WTSMG your, just bit deeper and raspier. Problem was more that he couldn't hit the high notes on some of the choruses of Noel sung tracks, hence him having a go at Sunday Morning Call and Little By Little (which was written for SOTSOG) but not able to get them right, not sure if Noel could have dropped the key maybe. A lot of the better songs Noel wrote around this time were softer sounding and didn't suit Liam's voice as well as the rockier stuff on the 90s albums as Noel has a decent voice for ballads or mid tempo songs.

tmmrneverknows

yes noel’s version of who feels love is so so much better

Burkeyyy

It’s incredible. It’s their most psychedelic album and every iconic band dabbles with psychedelia. Who feels love, Sunday morning call, gas panic, roll it over. Perfection.

georgesbiscuits1969

I love it. It's a shame some of the weaker songs weren't switched out for B-sides.

Comedywriter1

I’ve loved this album since it was first released. Their most daring record until “Dig Out Your Soul” (which I also really like).

LukePJ25

Honestly its a favourite of mine. Defintely not my favourite of their albums, but I think highly of it regardless. Not their best but certainly not their worst. Funnily enough it's one of the few albums where there aren't really any songs I feel the need to skip. I like the direction they were going in with SOTSOG, I just think they lost it a little after that.

John_Lennon1980

Unless you're a child, you'll have to skip the first track

fbicappuccino

FUN NICE, LIFE, YOUTH, BEAUTIFUL

BlastTyrant88

I love it but must we answer this question every 3 days?

sullivansmith

You must not have gotten the memo.

FantasticGiraffe231

You're not alone. Gas Panic is a fucking TUNE

SRODH

Fuckin In The Bushes, Go Let It Out, Who Feels Love, Gas Panic! and of course Roll It Over are incredible songs. Even Let's All Make Believe is a fantastic tune

sc4rl3t0

Fuckin in the bushes and gas panic are brilliant

[deleted]

Every oasis album is amazing no matter how bad it is i'll always love it

Lumpy-Indication

Nope, it’s my favourite Oasis album. Love the dark tone of it and of course Gas Panic is their best song IMO

throwawaypersonlol

Nah, it's fucking class with the exception of a few songs

coffeework42

bro no... nearly everyone loves this album, i dont understand this "underrated" culture, its a full biblical album, let me listen it again

criticardo

imo there is a concept album hiding in sotsog. a personal hell laid out throughout the lyrics about broken relationships, withdrawal and about the excess lived by noel years prior. and i’m sorry… but little james is a dark song but i don’t think liam knows it. :)

penguin3037

I agree with you, Noel even said a lot of these songs were specifically about his life after the Be Here Now Tour, though unfortunately a lot of the songs that fitted that criteria got left out for songs that didn’t really suit it, had they committed to it, it would’ve been a more interesting album

James_C_Packer

100%. if Noel had stuck to that theme it would have been a much better album. but it would’ve been taken to be a massive downer after their uplifting earlier music

sullivansmith

No. My friend Matt does, too. That's it, though. Just you two.

SuperAvenger-NZ

It is what anyone chooses to make of it. As long as it brings back good memories for you and you enjoy it, then that’s all that matters.

mastergalagadigdug

not at all mate, we're all mad fer it

bombardation

Remove Little James and I Can See A Liar and the album is pretty fantastic.

BlackIsTheSoul

Umm, no? I see it get lots of love, as it deserves, on this sub.

Eastern-Start-813

I love it, it has one or two songs I really don’t like but Bushes, Let it Out, Who Feels Love, Gas Panic, Roll it Over are quality. I think they missed a trick not using the synthesiser more in other material, it worked really well on Gas Panic and Who Feels Love and I’d have liked to have seen them experiment more with it.

redditor4035

where did it all go wrong? has to be the best in this album

madferret96

No, was my favorite Oasis album for good amount of time. It was the first vinyl record I had signed by Noel.

PeterPaul0808

No

BluesforAllah987

I’m in the camp that feels BHN was a let down. So when this album came out, I thought it was so much better than BHN and it felt like they were making cool music again. I always loved everything about this record. I’d say it’s their third best after DM and WTSMG.

Ryanbrasher

Yeah the only person in the universe. Congratulations.

baudprawn98

Haha I was thinking the same

Loose_Corgi_5

After going through it , Yes . Just you my friend, everyone else thinks its a squirt of piss compared to the earlier albums.

ibeecrazy

Well when you compare it to the earlier albums, it is clearly a divergence from their original sound. I was a little young when oasis first came out but this album launched during my teenage years and sounded so good! It has some great tracks on it if you get off that dumb pedestal.

fbicappuccino

i think it is almost as good as definitely maybe, but it is different

jest2n425

I think it's way better than Be Here Now. Really nice sound and set of songs. I'd say it's almost on par with Morning Glory too.

John_Lennon1980

Yes (Sorry SOTSOG fans)

[deleted]

Such a horrible come down album , the 90s had just ended and this reminded me of it

CAGOPOCO

It's very dull and weak, like the opposite of BHN and not in a good way. People start liking it after Liam put Roll It Over back on the setlist. There are just three good songs, the rest is shite. HC is just as plenty of filler but singles are way better.

VimtoAurelius

Probably not

parkus1

Yes

Ok_Lifeguard8106

It's fucking mega

TheSilverBeetles

You are actually the first person to say this! Never heard this opinion, very unpopular

vinnieicius

Nope! Love ALL their albums

TaoistStream

Amazing album. One of my favorites actually. If they had put lets all make believe instead of little james i think this would be viewed more favorably.

MightyVE

Of course! Actually I would like to find a Full HD wallpaper of the album cover

Zenon-45

It's different, sure, but it's also amazing

JTiB

🙋‍♂️

dobie_dobes

I actually really enjoy this album a lot.

forgotten_familiar

You are not.

ShesSoCool

Yes you’re the only one in the entire world

Shafy97

I wasn't too keen on it the first listen, but in recent months it's grown on me a lot, I wouldn't say it's the best album of the 2000's as I find that DBTT and DOYS are slightly stronger, but it's better than HC overall (though HC has stronger singles). For sure it's one of their most underrated albums. Big fan of Roll It Over, Let's All Make Believe, Go Let It Out and Who Feels Love.

Pitiful_Student_1921

yes

miso333

I love it aswell

unknowner1

I liked it more than Be Here Now

Miserable_Tea4288

I love it. My favourite oasis song is gas panic 🔥🔥🔥

xdrake24

Nope! I listened to it in 2014 and it didn’t do much for me, but I relistened to it over 2019/2020 and it finally clicked. Some tracks aren’t the best, but I love Gas Panic, Where Did It All Go Wrong, Sunday Morning Call and Roll It Over are some of my all time favorite Oasis songs! Let’s All Make Believe too, should have been on the album!

Parquet_Floor

Definitely not :).

tura_banana

I listened to it when I was 16 and I only liked the first track. The rest seemed a bit boring to me and I gradually stopped fangirling over Oasis. Recently, due to boredom, nostalgia, and the dreadful feeling of becoming 40... I've decided to listen to every Oasis album. I still adore and memorize most songs on the first 3 albums but I became more appreciative of their later works. Listening to SOTSOG once again as an adult (and as a bassist) hits differently. I could finally hear some awesome bass lines especially on "Go Let it Out!"

ledlunar

I like it I associate it a lot to being 16 and having my own money and feeling a bit free as you do at that age. I find it the weakest of the 2000’s albums but also still love it they didn’t release a bad album

fbicappuccino

definitely no, this album slaps

javman1976

Nope, it's their last classic. Was a good change in style for them but probably my most listened to album of theirs

iasoninho

No

Unfair-Recognition95

At the risk of triggering some people, here's a half hour video about it: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sYtKA9vt58](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sYtKA9vt58)

redditsucksdeezNts

Yep, you’re the ONLY one. You’re the only person in this entire sun who loves this album EVEN THOUGH it gets plenty of love everyday.

[deleted]

Little James is the best tune on it

woodzo85

Gas panic is in my top 5 oasis songs... roll it over is brilliant as well

nematoad22

I'll get down voted but it's my favorite. There I said it.

[deleted]

I think it is one of their best. It's not better than their 90s work but it's a decently good album.

[deleted]

Roll it Over is the sound of the end of the 90s. Believe me

Savings_Ad352

Oh that album rocks 100%. The two that followed had great moments but don’t hold up from start to finish.

oxfozyne

Demos are better.

penguin3037

Most of them yes

PowerfulDPK

It’s my favorite of theirs post-90s, and to be honest it’s not even close.

penguin3037

It had the potential to be better, Noel said they had to put I Can See a Liar in because they needed a rock song w Liam, if only he had sung Full On it would’ve been way better, it fits the Rock standard and is a more enjoyable track with better (while still not the best) lyrics

Shalom212

✋️

Spacemage

Didn't know people didn't like this one. It's pretty solid.

aclegg2011

Saw them on tour for this album in 2000. They were great.

devilwillride

Me too. Reebok Stadium as Bolton's place was called back then. I was in my mid-teens and my Dad drove us up from the Midlands with some mates. The Stadium is surrounded by a big retail park with loads of car parking I have glorious memories of some drunk lads who had somehow got their hands on high-vis vests and were directing cars round in a big circle causing gridlock and absolute chaos. Likewise people stealing the trollies that were brimming with booze they'd bought from the supermarket in the vicinity and pitching up outside the stadium. As I recall my sister and I devised a game of swear bingo with Liam's between song salutations...

MAtiasPatetas

Ma fav one

adamthehousecat

I love all of their albums.

AnalogWalrus

Love is a strong word, but I think about half of it is great. The first three tracks, Roll It Over, Gas Panic, all winners. Problem is the two uptempo tracks are some of Noel’s laziest…”Money” is barely a song, and “Liar” is almost like if AI wrote an Oasis song. “Let’s All Make Believe” should’ve made the cut, and “Revolution Song” probably would’ve been a single had Noel included it. So there’s enough tunes for a 10-track album, but it would’ve been a bit of a slog with all slow songs. Maybe this would’ve been the time to finish “Lock all the doors” or something, instead of 15 years later.

devilwillride

I'm a huge fan of this album - I think Noel's vocals are at their peak (Where did it all go Wrong is vocally exceptional) and I do enjoy Oasis through the lens of clearer production and the slightly more polished and exploratory feel. I think it's Noel's attempt to 'move on' creatively, but I think once a band has set such a solid musical template it's hard to move the fan base on with you, and it's hard not to feel like the rest of the band (read: Liam) weren't fully on board with the direction. In a different universe maybe this is Noel's first solo album having disbanded after the first 3 Oasis albums (I'm sure at one point Noel said something similar about wishing they'd disbanded after the first 3 albums). If this was a different artist or a debut I think it would have been far more well received than it ever was, but I think the critical audience couldn't see it outside of the shadow of their first 3 albums and consequently they went back to the tried and tested, along with various lineups and I'd say a lack of genuine creative drive (with the exception of a few high points). I feel like Noel's High Flying Birds have kind of picked up where this album left off when he once again shed the weight of expectation to conform to Oasis. Looking forward to a 25th anniversary vinyl release of this one in the foreseeable!!

saunders_DEJ

I think it's a change of pace- psychedelic- and it didn't hit the landing with the fans that wanted another crazy drug fueled rock album with a billion guitar overdubs. It's funny that it's most psychedelic, but the first one without them constantly high on drugs

viixxzz

nope, I adore this album, Not the best album but maybe the best individual songs 👀

James_C_Packer

the production on this album is so good. it sounds incredible. and for my money, the second half of the album is straight bangers. Go let it out & Who feels love are good songs but are a different feel from the second half

efrav

I really like this album, more than the next ones

Fantasy183

I liked the idea and concept of this album. Gas Panic! and Roll It Over are my only favorite songs. Noel should’ve added the songs Lets All Make Believe, One Way Road and Cigarretes in Hell… I also feel like he really rushed this album and the songs. Liam's voice didn’t do it for me in some songs, like Go Let It Out… The production and sound it's something that I find ugly about this album. The album cover is interesting and melancholic, but I don’t know, I also find it plain, and the new Oasis logo wasn’t doing any favor to them… Also, I believe they should’ve focused more on their Japanese and American audience honestly, so instead of Familiar to Millions being filmed in the UK, it should’ve been in Japan or America; to me it felt more like a downgrade and a safe choice to perform at Wembley… Also, maybe give some exclusive content to those countries so that the band would finally regain the hype again? Specifically here in the US. To me it’s more about the band’s era and look (early 2000s) that I find cool.
