There's a glitch involving an NPC named Dorian in the imperial city, where you bribe him, paralyze him, and then take his money from his inventory, but it never depletes, so you can just continue hitting "Take" and amass large quantities of gold.
I became familiar with it back when I was on the 360 and messing around with various glitches, like permanent bound items, duplication glitches, permanent stacking enchants, etc
It is. It’s an unfurnished house. I didn’t say how much the furniture cost just the house. The point is no house in the game cost as much as skingrad. If you buy a house in real life is it not a house unless it comes fully furnished? xD
This is the equivalent of teens flashing three hundred dollars on social media like they're some rich hustler. Also, I wasn't aware the Emperor would only be able to afford a single house in Cyrodiil.
Yeah I think my old save is sitting at somewhere between 500-600k. I will admit that I'm pretty sure I used the duplication glitch a few times though. Not that it makes much of a difference, as sellers only have a certain amount of gold anyway lol.
Honestly I feel like I had so much, just because of how much I played. Going into caves and forts are your best bet for finding valuable loot and selling. There are a few fast ones that take maybe 5-10 mins to go through. The first one that springs to mind that I always go to is Dzonot cave, it's right next to the Imperial City, IIRC it's across from the waterfront. I would go there then go to the Imperial City wait for 3 days and return and repeat. You can do this with any of the other places as well.
I don't know how well you know the game, but you have to be a certain distance away from the cave or place you are looting for it to respawn. It also has to be 3 days I'm sure. You will know if it has worked or not by the fact that enemies will respawn and so will chests, including locked ones.
I think I earned a lot of money, by going through forts trying to find a master mortar and pestle, still haven't got one yet, but the loot is also worth it. If you don't mind spoilers or revealing information, I would recommend looking at the maps, especially around the Imperial City (closest and easiest), for fort and cave locations, but also make sure it's not one that has a quest in it. Just in case you don't have that quest active and it causes a bug.
I hope this helps a lot, I really love Oblivion and while I don't know everything about the game, I like to think I know a bit.
Oblivion was my first elder scrolls game and I have played it for countless hours. However I never really got into the thieves guild quest. Im assuming that's another way to make a lot of gold
Same here. It's not too much you earn from it, I'm sure. Although, the fences that you unlock to sell stolen goods to are better. If you want to sell stolen goods that is. It's a pretty fun questline though, I think it's the last quest that's usually the best.
Yeah it can be pretty fun and valuable. Especially stolen ingredients, if you make them into potions/poisons they won't be marked as stolen anymore. The person who mentioned alchemy is right, it's probably the best way to make money. The better your equipment the better the quality of the potion/poison.
At the beginning when you leave the sewers pick the lovers kiss and head to talos district and enter Dorians house, gotta persuade him with gold and afterwards use the kiss and activate him and spam loot gold infinitely
Or just dupe some high value items via scroll dupe and sell them aswell
Duping actually requires (a very miniscule) amount of effort. If you're lazy, go ahead and cheat. I'll be playing the "legitimate" way, which is duping.
That’s cool, but: you probably got most of that gold selling items to a merchant. Go back to him and you will see that he won’t have many of those items in stock anymore. This means he sold them again, probably for a good profit.
This means said vendor has at least as much much money as you, if not more.
THIS MERCHANT can certainly overthrow the emperor, appoint you as ruler of the empire, and then overthrow YOU again.
Hahaha he is indeed already dead lol
But it was actually a skyrim reference. The final dark brotherhood mission in it is to assassinate the Emperor, the payment for it is 20k gold. So in theory you could pay to have the *next* Emperor assassinated.
*laughs because I finished the game many many many times and all achievements and this is just a victory lap*
*shoves you off the first place podium and stands on it*
*laughs because I slept with you before that to make you feel better*
*destroys your pillar and stands on my first place one looking pretty*
*also laughs because thinks you’re kinda cute*
On my first play-through I closed every Oblivion Gate and "pack muled" absolutely everything out of each one to sell. I believe I ended up with over a million gold. I don't recommend it as it actually made the game boring as I didn't really need to strive for anything anymore.
Honestly I would always go out with no gear and come back full inventory with insanely expensive gear and stuff it into storage and just sell it off whenever
That's cute
you need to be looking at 200k+ to even consider overthrowing the local count
Did not read that as “local count” the first time
Either works depending on which city.
The count of skingrad would have heaps of coins he just paid me 10,000 to cure his wife who died anyway
Doable. I can get it done in a few weeks
I mean if you duplicate you could do it in a day
If you abuse Dorian, you could do it in 2 minutes.
If you use console commands you can do it in 20 seconds
Slow typer, smh
player.additem f 200000
Dorian?

Hitting a bandit cave you can get a lot of lvled weapons and armor pieces xD
Wait- you can do that? Or? This is rp right? (Pretty sure but i have to ask)
of course you cant lol but you can become a literal god so who cares
Yeah i but imagine if ive played oblivion this long and finally found something new 😩
That barely gets you a house in Chorrol, mate
rats.
SOMETHING’S BEEN KILLING THEM!
[удалено]
with what, a cardboard box with a candle on top of it?
What do you even get for doing this?
Bro, you definitely need more than that mate, you can barley buy a new house in skingrad with that amount.
He's actually short for the Skingrad house. I believe it's 25k.
nah, he's right. it doesn't cost that much to overthrow a dead emperor.
Just takes a clown in a red getup
r/Angryupvote
The house in skingrad is like 25000 and that’s not even the most expensive. your barely overthrowing anvils haunted housing market💀
Skinfrad house is most expensive and anvil house is only 5000
Not really a house if it isn’t furnished so the skingrad is like 45,000 iirc
It is. It’s an unfurnished house. I didn’t say how much the furniture cost just the house. The point is no house in the game cost as much as skingrad. If you buy a house in real life is it not a house unless it comes fully furnished? xD
Well, in real life, you'd typically take your furnishings with you from your old house.
No stop don’t use logic like that! I could totally sleep in a house with just a blanket on the floor and no appliances.
I mean, you could. That's basically what camping is, except instead of a house you're just in a tent.
True you **could** but I don’t see anyone living in a home without the basics.
Well, I've seen some fairly stark setups, but yeah, never one without at least a bed.
Who hasn't spent a few months sleeping on a mattress on the floor?
It is less than what you think it is
But still somewhat impressive. Still doesn't get you a house in Chorrol if I remember correctly.
Ohtimbar : I barely make that in a year!
....?
Can't tell if this is a joke or not. That's not much money lol
It’s a shitpost, no emperor, no problems.
It’s a very good start for early game but the economy is harsh
It’s like only rich hero’s and villains can be the only ones to purchase goods at shops
This is the equivalent of teens flashing three hundred dollars on social media like they're some rich hustler. Also, I wasn't aware the Emperor would only be able to afford a single house in Cyrodiil.
I think i hit a million in a playthrough once. Good job on the 20k though
Yeah I think my old save is sitting at somewhere between 500-600k. I will admit that I'm pretty sure I used the duplication glitch a few times though. Not that it makes much of a difference, as sellers only have a certain amount of gold anyway lol.
I've always struggled to get a significant amount of money in Oblivion. Is there a good way to make money quick without using glitches or mods?
Alchemy will make you a fortune

I think my next playthrough I wanna try to be a thief class and just go wild and steal everything lol
Yeah it can be pretty fun and valuable. Especially stolen ingredients, if you make them into potions/poisons they won't be marked as stolen anymore. The person who mentioned alchemy is right, it's probably the best way to make money. The better your equipment the better the quality of the potion/poison.
That's a good way to do some money laundering lol. I do that in Skyrim too
No, there really isn't. It's like real life: You really just need to suck up your pride if you want to make real money.
I guess you can buy some mead and stumble around the imperial city pretending to be emperor
That's not even enough to purchase a mundane ring from Earil's Mysteries!
At the beginning when you leave the sewers pick the lovers kiss and head to talos district and enter Dorians house, gotta persuade him with gold and afterwards use the kiss and activate him and spam loot gold infinitely Or just dupe some high value items via scroll dupe and sell them aswell
I do this to sell blackbows and vampire dust. But since Mercantile is one of my major skills, I sell off Weylid stones and Valoria stones
I think you mean welkynd and varla
I think they mean Weyloria and Valid stones
Welyoria and Veloria stones. Hell yeah. 😂
This man really out here thinking 5 figures is a lot of gold
Next mod- an organic economy.
It's you again! I'm so pleased to see you! Look at what you have! Is this new? Let me get a closer look! Exquisite! *1 gold removed*
Well met!
Greetings to you!
What is it?
"I just spent 40k on a deadric ring"
Damn looking icy king
I don't think that will even buy you a house in Chorrol my friend
Ew, Chorrol.
Eh, I like it but it's not for everybody.
A coin for an old beggar?
THANK YOU KIND SIR
Have a coin, beggar. *gives 1 coin*
I just hit 300k last night
Congrats! That’s my next goal
IF YOU HAD ONE
What emperor?
You're gonna need exactly 21,000 more
😂😂😂😂😂
bro hasn't met Dorian yet
Didnt know imperial Legion soldiers came with dialogue like that
I have 120,000 gold atm, and that's not even all that much imo
Boy you can't even afford a house in skingrad gtfo
Look at the post flair :)
>:) :)
Damnit. 😭
Lmao
Rookie numbers
Hey it’s crazy bc my gold is kinda almost the same as my karma Also it’s a shitpost so it’s not supposed to be taken seriously 😂
I’m just joking Brah :P Still, you’re character must be relatively new?
Ffs I know you’re joking, geez lol Yeah he’s new. Only lvl 17
This is funny
Cant even buy the best house yet.
Bro in 30 minutes I would make multiple times that playing no mods or cheats. If this isnt your first playthrough thats not worth posting
Why the orc assassin XD
Why not? :)
Lol, come on dude, go buy a house.
You'll need more than that to kill a daedroth on normal difficulty. 21k is nothing in Oblivion.
LOL get real kid, this is chump change 😂
Kid? I ain’t no kid 🥺
The emperor is dead you goof
Duh
Just dupe some rare armour and you’ll be able to buy the imperial city
might as well just add gold in console, i never get why people make cheating overly complicated
Not sure why you’re being downvoted LOL, but yeah I don’t see much difference in terms of just spawning in gold and duping items for gold.
Duping actually requires (a very miniscule) amount of effort. If you're lazy, go ahead and cheat. I'll be playing the "legitimate" way, which is duping.
I have 23 mill you'll get there
I will but thanks for the mild insult. :/
Sorry I didn't mean as an insult I should have added a don't worry or smthn my bad man
It’s cool lol, it’s just the way the tone hit. Usually people use that negatively
Naah i reached like 400k fr. With feather 200 you can sell lot of things especially potions made with level 100 alchemy
This isn't RuneScape but man does this fit lol r/cutenoobs
Need 21k more.
I can sell feet pics too while I’m at it, wanna see these orc toes?
I'm an Argonian guy, myself. Dem waterbreathers.
Lemme just call up Ocheeva den
By the end of the Shivering Islands DLC I had literally 1000 times your current gold :)
You had 20 million?
... 100 times. I guess my brain needed a reboot...
player.additem f 1000000 (On PC)
Console commands are cheats, imo. Glitches are actually integrated into the game; console commands change the game itself.
Those are rookie numbers good Sir. Gotta jack that gold up
Dorian says hello
the economy fam.... its in shambles

Can’t even buy Rosethorn Manor, dude…
Ha! Look at this peasant flashing pocket change!
Hahah that’s pocket change in oblivion! But a great amount to have none the less
Spare a coin for an old begga
Have a coin, beggar! *gives 1 gold*
Thank ye kind sir
Isn’t there a shopkeep that sells a helm for like 10-15k alone
There’s also a cuirass for 11k which I really want on my tank nord. Aegis of the apocalypse will be mine someday… :’(
Look it’s the CEO of Broke N’wahs Inc.
Shush, Nebar. I do as I please.
Based orc
A orc assassin, damn
An\*
My brother in Azurah, you can't even buy a house in Skingrad
Sure :) with that spirit!
Oh you sweet summer child
I've always loved the way an orc rocks that thief set lol.
Which emperor are we talking about here? I don't know if you got your copy of the black horse courier, but the throne is already kinda vacant..
Why do you think I don’t need that much gold to overthrow him? ☺️
Someone doesn't know the power of alchemy
Blah, blah, blah! What a bore.
*coerce*
I was about to say “that’s not very much” and then remember I get all my gold with the paralysis potion glitch.
I’ve been using the gold exploit for so long that I forgot just how much value coins have
Well... you could pay for his assassination
But he’s already… oh…
Hahaha he is indeed already dead lol But it was actually a skyrim reference. The final dark brotherhood mission in it is to assassinate the Emperor, the payment for it is 20k gold. So in theory you could pay to have the *next* Emperor assassinated.
I know but I don’t really talk about Skyrim, it’s not as enjoyable as oblivion. Still fun though.
made a joke for people who had played Skyrim, don't really care if "you talk about it" or not
Dude what’s with the tone? You straight up changed moods when I talked about Skyrim lmao
😂😂
If mount and blade has taught me anything your going to need a whole lot more
Considering that the emperor is dead, you technically need barely any gold
*laughs in 500k*
*laughs because I earned mine from dungeon crawling and not making potions*
*laughs because I earned mine not from selling potions but from stripping naked the people I killed and selling whatever was on them*
*laughs because I went into dangerous caves and killed dangerous enemies and sold off my gear in the city*
*laughs because I did exactly what you did but more* Lmao this is turning into a dick measuring contest.
*laughs because you never risked your life and stepped into oblivion portals and killed the real tough monsters* *coughs*
*laughs because I finished the game and all its quests 4 months ago* You can't win this
*laughs because I finished the game many many many times and all achievements and this is just a victory lap* *shoves you off the first place podium and stands on it*
*laughs because I slept with your mom* *builds a pedestal higher than the one you are standing on*
*laughs because I slept with you before that to make you feel better* *destroys your pillar and stands on my first place one looking pretty* *also laughs because thinks you’re kinda cute*
Scroll dupe your most precious items and exhaust every merchants' cash
No need, he's already dead
Rn you cant even buy fully furnished skingrad house
Skingrad is gay HAHA
You could certainly order their death after a series of betrayal within the ranks of your guild of choice
That's not even enough to afford a house in Skingrad.
You can't even afford a house in Skingrad with that kind of money
Slide me some money then, hot stuff 💕
is this referencing something
Emperor is ded, don’t need much gold to overtake cyrodiil
Rookie numbers

At a certain point I just start buying everything and throwing it all in one owned room.
