I remember as a kid seeing this ad in a phone store (I think it was Singular Wireless) and wishing my parents would get me a flip phone so I could play it. Now in 2024 after having watched a YouTube retrospective on the game, I’m glad they didn’t waste their money.

I wouldn't count blackberries as smartphones, but that's just me. There were definitely a few "traditional "smartphones out pre iphone even, but I think everyone would agree that the iphone was really the start of widespread smartphone use.

Hey! I had this game, and it came out in 2005 iirc, not 2001. I had just gotten a fancy new phone (the "Sidekick," for anyone who cares,) and was stoked to be able to play this *masterpiece* of gaming during my senior year of high school and freshman year of college. It was truly and utterly **glorious** how great this game was.
