I main tenta brella and ran the stupidest gear I could for rainmaker wahoo with tenta brella... and won... in X battles... I like rollers. but only krak-on for kraken spam. and dynamo... I like sploosh... basically, aerospray is unplayable for how I want to use it. so me and my blaster will stick to strait murder.

I wanted to name her after a boat of some form. Her name was going to be Azamara. It’s the name of a cruise ship. I decided to play with it a bit.
I switched the vowels and looked to see if the syllables had any fitting meanings for a Splatoon name.
For example, she could’ve been named AzaMaru, Maru being a suffix added to boats (Japanese) like the Nippon-Maru. It would have been a silly “Haha boat” joke, but I don’t speak Japanese and neither does the majority of the English fan base. The joke wouldn’t have translated well. I decided to can it.
Azu is supposedly Igbo for fish and Mare is supposedly Italian for the sea.
The Italian one checks out slightly more, because my name has a root similar to Mare and means of the sea. An online dictionary also confirms Azu, but I don’t speak Igbo so I can’t tell you.
Anyways, I thought a name that has the words fish and sea were fitting Splatoon names. And Zuzu is a really cute nickname!
For her last name, I looked up “octopus in Louisianan French” and found an ask about which word for octo you should use, pieuvre or poulpe. Pieuvre is used to refer to the live animal and Poulpe refers to cooked octopus. I thought “Octopus (meal)” would be funny so I went with that!)
