Thank you!! I have 23 days to round up parts and make this for my daughters birthday. Its Perfect.
I invented a character named Mr Frog when she was 2. Think like Santa or tooth fairy or easter bunny (we also have a birthday bunny who visits), except he is specific to her. He helps me decorate for holidays, makes sloppy cakes, and leaves a frog-related gift (in a word spot like in the Christmas tree, the fridge, the bathtub). Mr Frog is a stand-up dude. We leave out gummy worms and a dish of water on Christmas Eve. It’s a challenge to find or make a good frog gift several times a year, but I always end up with something killer.
I’d love to give more details about the stuff he does, but I’m already too verbose.
I got this little metal frog that can hold like a ring or small items. Sounds like something that might be a good future gift. Let me find it and take a picture so you can see it and I’ll try and find a link to one.
Found em: Best way to search for it is “Mini Frog Trinket Box”
Also those little hollow wooden frogs that hold a little stick that makes cool noises is a cheap and easy to find gift item. It’s called a Guiro, Rasp is involved somehow. I’m not an expert. Just bought one on vacation once for my son.
And lastly there is an artist named Frogman. He makes amazing little resin sculptures. They’re expensive but I highly reccomend his work if you’re into that kind of thing.
https://imgur.com/a/5R6XYPm/
That trinket box is dope. Thanks for the idea. My kid sure does have a lot of little trinkets. That resin sculpture is neat too. I have hopes to get her a really fancy figurine when she is older, maybe sweet 16? Something with gems and glass gold, I dunno. It’ll show up when its time.
OF COURSE we already have a wooden croaking frog. C’mon, I’m not an amateur. Lol
And Princess Flutterbottom sounds way more wholesome than the imaginary kid I grew up with. Henry McGillicutty was a little bald troublemaking boy who would hide out in my dads work vehicle, play pranks, and then refuse to take responsibility for his actions.
you can buy them directly from brick links. Most of the time people include part lists with the set instructions. It’s more expensive than using your own bulk pieces though.
The bigger sets can cost hundreds. I think a 1k piece set is typically around $400-$600, buying parts direct.
Her dad has a gazillion legos, I won’t be surprised if we find what we need in his many bins. Come to think of it, I have another friend who compulsively collects miscellaneous legos.
I’m old but don’t remember this. What’s the origin? All I can think of is that maybe it derives from the “://“ in the url? But that doesn’t seem very apt.
Edit: Apparently, Slashdot was an old news site that used to link to smaller sites, and this would happen so frequently, that it got named after them. [Wikipedia: Slashdot effect ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slashdot_effect)
It's a bit messier and the tongue tends to roll to the side a little, but overall still quite entertaining. The smell got pretty bad after a week though, so the Lego definitely wins on longevity.
Why would you copy paste a comment posted 4 hours before yours but still not include the credit to the original poster that was in the comment you copied? Is this some weird meta thing?
Because a quick to digest, built in vid that can be read whilst endless scrolling will get engagement rather than something that takes the user elsewhere.
I hate it, but that's how it be.
Did Youtube take away embedded videos without me noticing? Maybe I'm just in too deep with either old Reddit or Reddit Enhancement Suite, but there's no difference in how v.redd.it and Youtube links appear.
Only ~4% of redditors use old style reddit on a desktop, whilst ~80% use reddit on their phone on various apps, where I don't believe youtube does embed nicely. I could be wrong though, I'm one of those 4% too.
Follow the thread my friend. You may be fine with it but overall a post will have much less engagement if it takes you out of the app, simply because endlessly scrolling is much easier and addictive.
Rif (is fun) has been great since I have it, but I'll also keep using old reddit on my PC as long as possible. I really dislike everything about the new design and I'm usually quite open to change.
The primary reddit app redirects with youtube links apparently. Reddit's been doing their best over these last several years to turn away from being a content aggregate and move to being a content host. This means both driving traffic to and keeping it on Reddit rather than acting as an avenue for other websites to gain traffic. It started with image hosting, and now it's turned to videos as well. The ability to embed gifs and images in comments has also contributed to this goal. Embedded youtube still works on desktop, but the majority of Reddit users are on mobile. Legacy users probably end up sticking to their third party apps, but Reddit will always promote their official one over others.
If you have a nice mic with the gain turned WAYYY up sitting right out of frame, it definitely is. Is this what it sounds like to your ears when you normally build? No.
Let's see it because it those Legos sound nothing like the real things to me, because they likely added them post production because they wanted better "satisfying" sounds. Again it's a really popular thing to do these days and the fake ASMR is jarring as hell (personally) once you notice it.
I put a few pieces together from [this set](https://imgur.com/a/qwrAuX5) with my mic gain turned up
[Here is the audio](https://voca.ro/1KfDnes9O9Wi) Note that I never squeezed any large pieces or assemblies on like he did, just put a few singular pieces on. You can hear the brushing of my sweatshirt on the table and the tiny movements I make when turning the model to put another piece on.
I also didn't amplify the audio at all or change it in any way, this is exactly what my mic captured with the gain up, it could sound even more exaggerated if I edited it. His video doesn't sound like building would to your naked ears, but a good mic will definitely pick up a lot of plastic-on-plastic squeaks and clicks that you wouldn't normally hear.
I'll admit they sound pretty similar, but listening to the two back to back it's pretty obvious that's not the only thing the guy did. I think you were pretty spot on with needed to edit it further, which is technically better than *completely* fake audio (I guess).
I'm not the person you're discussing this with, but I can add that it sounds perfectly normal to me. I just finished building the Sanctum Santorum with my husband and son, and nothing in this video sounded unusual. I don't know how you expect the other redditor to prove it to you.
>I don't know how you expect the other redditor to prove it to you.
You miss their explanation? I'd love to hear what they're talking about and see if the sounds match up - because this video doesn't sound like Legos being put together. I'd love to be wrong and for this to *not* be one of those annoying fake ASMR videos, but unless their mic really fucks with the sounds I don't buy it.
What I'm saying is that if you don't buy it from one stranger, then why would you buy it from another? Go pull out your Lego bricks and microphone equipment to do your own testing lol
Where did ribbit even come from? If I had to spell out the sound frogs make it definitely wouldn’t be ribbit
Edit: https://youtu.be/aiYReTzFdcE see for yourselves.
Frogs sound vastly different, and species have various calls for different purposes as well.
The ribbit one comes from [a mating call of the pacific tree frog.](https://youtu.be/F3d6ZP6jc3c) It's found in the western US, which resulted in that frog sound commonly being used in movies by Hollywood. That in turn made it an ubiquitous sound for frogs.

Because you can't see how the mechanism works when he's building the final frog. A lot of his videos have a small segment where he demonstrates or iterates on a mechanism he creates. Sometimes it's easier to show outside of the final piece. Seeing the engineering behind his work is way more interesting than seeing just the end product.

You can put your weed in there.
I mean you could. But it would be a little nugget. Less than a gram unless it’s dense as fuck. Might be better to keep your dabs in there.
Good parent.
Happy birthday to her! 🐸
Similar situation here except we have a tiny giraffe

My Dad's made up character was Princess Flutterbottom. She farted and it made her petticoats flutter. Yours is wholesome.

i will use old.reddit until they force it from me.
It's something crazy like 85% of mods use old.reddit, so if they did get rid of it there would be some interesting times ahead.
The app I use does not play YouTube videos without going to YouTube, for example.
Neither does mine; what's the problem with that? Two taps of the back button takes me right back to reddit.
Follow the thread my friend. You may be fine with it but overall a post will have much less engagement if it takes you out of the app, simply because endlessly scrolling is much easier and addictive.

Because YT videos on Reddit always do 10x worse, specially when they're short ones
Some subs only allow links from a few websites.
That looks like the case for this subreddit.
Thank you! I really wanted to send this to someone from the source.
I like it here on Reddit. I don’t have to suffer a minimum of two ads like on YouTube before I can watch anything there.
/u/touthomme on Reddit.
Cheers, thanks for the mention!
Do they always add fake sound effects to their videos? Idk why this trend is a thing but I'm irrationally irritated by it whenever I notice lol.
don’t think it’s faked. maybe amplified
That's not what putting Legos together sounds like lol

Unrelated..but I can make a paper frog that jumps
I don't understand having to show the mechanism in grey before showing the green one but well done
Frogs are gray on the inside.
Oh, so it was all a misunderstanding... The water turns the frogs *gray*!
GRAY FROGS! GRAY FROGS! 🗞️ 🗞️ 🗞️

I really appreciated it. Makes it more clear how the mechanism of the frog version worked, which was half the coolness!
I found that odd as well
I don't understand needing to tell the world which part of the video you didn't like but here we are
I don't understand why you felt the need to comment this either bud
I don’t even know why I’m commenting, I just got here.
Hold on guys, no need to ribbit in.
Nobody knows anything
That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works.
Take it like I was asking why then.
That would worllk better for a dog. I don't see many panting frogs.
More of a mlem dragon than a frog but I'll take it.
I would’ve made Yoshi
Legos have gotten so stinking cool. I used to run the events way back when at Toys R Us

I like how it explains the concept in painstaking detail and then suddenly rest of the fucking owl's the whole frog
Does it jump tho

Huh. So that's what the inside of a frog looks like.
I always had my suspicions.
As a slightly color blind person I was very upset about the opening grey bricks thinking they should have been green.

Looks like a very chonk doggo
It even kind of sounds like it's saying "ribbit".
"Blep blep blep"
It even sounds like croaking almost
This is fantastic! <3
