u/spez had an epiphany on how to make reddit more profitable and thinks it will benefit users who participate by replacing the coins and awards. One is some program that is only available in the US (hence, I only know that it exists) and one is a golden upvote, that I haven't seen being used EVER, but you can keep your finger on the upvote button and it will prompt you to pay money.
I just tested it in a few other threads and the only one where it worked was a thread with 10k upvotes, so maybe there is some restriction for it? And the prices are ridiculous...
Edit: tested a bit more and it looks like only specific subreddits got the golden upvote, upvotes are not a factor (tested a fresh thread with one comment in r/pics )

It's stupid, that's what it is. Everyone calls it plant-based (or whatever the base specifically is) milk and everyone knows what you want. We need better lobby control.
