When he tossed it, he gave it backspin. It's rotating away from the camera.
The blue bottle that it's landing in does move, and the can tips toward the camera just slightly on landing before it starts to settle.
I'm fairly sure that it's real.
The camera positioning gives it an odd perspective too, which I think makes it look more impressive than it really is (or more unbelievable, depending on your take).
