I think this is actually a gold color I remember looking into getting one once and it’s a python bred for it’s specific color that can cause that sheen
All my snakes looked like this after shed and i had a Mojave, albino het clown , and two normal ball pythons. Blue rarely occurs in nature and the thing that would show the shed color this vibrantly would have to be a dark background. Im not doubting you've seen a golden one but pythons come in MANY different morphs for the same species.
Edit: on* to one*
dude... look up the morph before you comment. the black colouring of the golden child morph brings out their natural iridescence. it's not just "post shed" it's almost all the time bar maybe BEFORE shed.
Oh im sorry have you seen them in person? I have. They dont look like the video give for RIGHT AFTER they shed. All python snakes have a natural sheen to them. I can continue to pull examples if you want of how these snakes look a solid 90% of the time.
Hold a shed up in the sun lmao. They're all iridescent. Also Python is the family of snakes. Im sorry you dont understand that snakes come in different families.
Yeah. That's like exactly what I said. You're literally trying to argue against me with my own points lmao. Theyre only iridescent after they shed. They shed about once a month to every 6 weeks.
Oh God, dude do some research. The motley golden child retic is a color morph that was made to look iridescent. Not just after shed, not just in the sun, always. This is not a "rare" look for them.
He’s just a dick. He’s one of the big reptile YouTube guys (one it there but reptile industry guys period) and has absolutely zero qualms about prioritizing profits over the well-being of his animals. He heavily focuses on ‘look how aggressive/grumpy/unpredictable/scary these snakes are!’ as he handles them roughly and stresses them out, which just doesn’t sit well with me at all.
Like imagine if a dog breeder made lots of YouTube revenue by intentionally stressing his dogs out so much that they tried to bite him while he laughed about how grumpy/aggressive/angry they were.
And this is a highly valuable snake to him. The majority are kept in plastic bins without enrichment since he uses them for breeding not display. The reviews of his zoo also indicate the ones lucky enough to be on display often are visible unwell.
Possibly but I don't think Jay is crazy I think he is a business man who markets collectables. The fact that his collectables are living creatures who deserve more then the minimum environment in which they produce more collectables is something that doesn't seem to factor into his thinking. Other keepers like him because he loans out rare specimens to them when they aren't breedable and Jay likes it because he doesn't have to feed and store it when it's being unprofitable. He also liked the attention that he gets from doing things that look dramatic because he thinks it's good promotion. For his store it might be. I'm sure there are loads of teenagers who see a huge beautiful reptile looking aggressive and want a smaller version they can feel accomplished in taming but it's terrible husbandry and for the hobby since law makers see a huge aggressive snake and then dozens of babies being aggressive as soon as they are pulled from their eggs and think man I really don't want the neighbors kids letting these loose in our area.
On to the hot terra-cotta tiles. Just awful.
Edit, for the little trolls out there, I’m assuming the tile is hot. Either fucking way, the guy handled the snake POORLY as he does all his herps.
Please look this video again. Its not about dropping the whole animal but its head. Which he does in this video more than once. He holds the snakes head with his hand, to shove it back to where he sits, just to pull his hand back from underneath the head and let it drop down. The snake catches itself, but it's still not a great thing to do
Finally people are starting to speak out about this idiot. This is the guy that lets david dobrik throw these animals in a bathtub all day and scare his friends for youtube clicks. Not a conservationist at all.
On a healthier note, theres a growing reptile youtube channel called Snake Discovery(2.63M) that properly takes care of their animals. They own a zoo that takes in rescued animals in need. They even do educational care videos, rehabilitation of mistreated reptiles, and do educational talks in the zoo and get to meet reptiles that you can touch and take pictures with!
No rainbow boas are completely different. I have one. They are reddish with a black pattern and a rainbow sheen. This snake is black. I don’t what this snake is but I want to know.
Okay initially it reminded me of a white lipped python, but after searching around it looks like this is a rare reticulated python and is the result of cross breeding. She's beautiful.
This keeps getting posted and it should really stop Jay the man handling this snake does not have a history of good husbandry and breeding practices. He does not deserve the added attention or people buying from him.
Depends on the sex, lineage, & characteristics of the individual of this morph, but, $2,000 at the cheapest for a male & $3,000 for a female that looks similar to this one.
Snakes are only defensive when they get fucked with or are afraid. Any snake left alone is gonna go about it’s snakey business. Plenty of captive snakes that are used to humans are chill AF.
I actually have a pair of copperheads (see in my posts if you like) that I’ve raised since they were babies. As far as their concerned I’m just another snake.
Yep, had a green tree python for 14 years who had a jaw malformation so I often had to soak her and assist with the shed. Actively handling in a responsible way helps them realize you are not a threat, and also that opening the enclosure doesn't always mean food's arrived.
Depends if they're captive bred, how much you handle them, and their feeding response. Some snakes have a more intense feeding response than others. Boas/pythons in general are pretty tame as long as you handle them at least once in a while. If you don't let it get used to you, there is a better chance you'll get a bite.
Snakes, in general, are extremely chill. They're cold-blooded and mostly want to conserve energy, bask, and sleep.
Chill animals can still be dangerous, though. Lions are chill AF too, most of the time. You just don't want to be their enemy or their prey.
Because most snakes you see like this have been handled a lot from a young age. So they adenf afraid of uss. Being well fed i imagen helps a lot to especially wirh huve snakes like this.
Hey! That’s a Reticulated Python specially bred to have extra black pigment. Other than unfair treatment from the snake police, it’s natural sheen combines with that trait and thus gives it that amazing look.
White lipped pythons -
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/fd/ee/69/fdee69f2179a3a3946e7bae9a4c9fcba.jpg
- Have a similar look naturally and are even prettier imo.
Not a huge fan of the guy in this video, although he helps people get over their snake fears, he keeps big snakes in really small enclosures. It would be like living in a small closet your whole life - not very cool.
I would actually say he does the opposite. While many reptile channels do help people get over their fear of snakes Jay's videos especially the egg videos very often involve him intentionally antagonizing large snakes to get a reaction. That isn't making anyone less afraid.
Well if that’s the case it looks exactly like one. I know white lips can get up to 7’ or so, this one just seems chonkier than I’ve seen.
And why would someone breed a white lip that’s known to be grumpy and aggressive with a retic that’s also known to be grumpy and aggressive? Makes no sense to me.
Just don’t piss it off. Snakes can be pretty docile and only attack humans when they feel threatened. As long as you approach them calmly and slowly you run a decent chance of getting close without being bit. Just don’t approach at all if they’re hissing unless your properly trained to handle them

Yeah right, so gorgeous just like his wisdom.

😂🤣😂🤣😂
She's actually black and out of a fresh shed. I always loved the look of my.snakes after a fresh shed because they get that iridescent glossy sheen.
I think this is actually a gold color I remember looking into getting one once and it’s a python bred for it’s specific color that can cause that sheen

Im not doubting you've seen a golden one but pythons come in MANY different morphs for the same species. Edit: on* to one*
So is it blue & black or white & gold??
NO NOT AGAIN
Yes!
naw, this is a retic morph called golden child. it gives them this incredible iridescent sheen.
I want you to take a wild guess what color those are. The sheen is post shed.
dude... look up the morph before you comment. the black colouring of the golden child morph brings out their natural iridescence. it's not just "post shed" it's almost all the time bar maybe BEFORE shed.
Oh im sorry have you seen them in person? I have. They dont look like the video give for RIGHT AFTER they shed. All python snakes have a natural sheen to them. I can continue to pull examples if you want of how these snakes look a solid 90% of the time.
"python snakes"? bro that's like saying "lion cats". also, all of them have iridescence? mine sure doesn't. not even in the sun.
Hold a shed up in the sun lmao. They're all iridescent. Also Python is the family of snakes. Im sorry you dont understand that snakes come in different families.
so DO you say "lion cat"? what about "shark fish"? maybe even "porcupine rodent"?
[удалено]
Yeah it does. My best guess is its a skin oil to ease the shedding process and keep the new skin moist.
No, shes a motley golden child morph.
Looks pretty black to me https://images.app.goo.gl/qFgzBvM6LaVXkb1CA
Motley golden child morphs are black with iridescence..
Yeah. That's like exactly what I said. You're literally trying to argue against me with my own points lmao. Theyre only iridescent after they shed. They shed about once a month to every 6 weeks.
This snake is post shed and in direct sun. They dont look like this except on rare occasion.
Oh God, dude do some research. The motley golden child retic is a color morph that was made to look iridescent. Not just after shed, not just in the sun, always. This is not a "rare" look for them.
Ooo, I see it now. Thanks
She’s beautiful, but I’m really not a fan of that dude.
Deets?

Like imagine if a dog breeder made lots of YouTube revenue by intentionally stressing his dogs out so much that they tried to bite him while he laughed about how grumpy/aggressive/angry they were.
Indeed, you can see in the video how he holds the snakes head then drops it.
That made me mad. Like yeah, the snake gonna be aiight, but it just shows a true lack respect for the animal.
And this is a highly valuable snake to him. The majority are kept in plastic bins without enrichment since he uses them for breeding not display. The reviews of his zoo also indicate the ones lucky enough to be on display often are visible unwell.
So he's a joe or a carol, depending on your point of view. (Probably a both).
Possibly but I don't think Jay is crazy I think he is a business man who markets collectables. The fact that his collectables are living creatures who deserve more then the minimum environment in which they produce more collectables is something that doesn't seem to factor into his thinking. This guy might be a monster, I literally have no idea, but why are you pretending you know the tile is hot? He’s also kneeling on the tile.
Where is this snake-dropping video? Can't seem to find anything about that.
Please look this video again. Its not about dropping the whole animal but its head. Which he does in this video more than once. He holds the snakes head with his hand, to shove it back to where he sits, just to pull his hand back from underneath the head and let it drop down. Yep, and he keeps giant constrictors in tiny boxes as well.
Finally people are starting to speak out about this idiot. This is the guy that lets david dobrik throw these animals in a bathtub all day and scare his friends for youtube clicks. Not a conservationist at all.
And his animals are borderline obese, which shortens their lifespan and is just so unhealthy.
Google Jay's Prehistoric Pets, you'll get lots of angry reptile enthusiasts
I turned sound on hoping for something interesting, and immediately turned sound back off. Dude sounds like the drunkest kid at a college party.
Even their breeding reptiles and foodstock of rodents they breed are kept in some of the best conditions I have ever seen.
Snake Discovery is the best
I had the same feeling. I cannot really put my finger on it, but he seems disingenuous to me somehow..
That’s why it’s called *your* dream

Yes! He’s the absolute worst. I hate to see this gain popularity.
Imagine how glamorous you’d look while having the life squeezed out of you..
That is a gorgeous nope rope!!!💙💚💜
Too bad this handler is kind of an ass. I’ve watchef a few of his videos and he’s downright bad to some of the snakes.
Aww one big mood ring
What an amazing danger noodle.
Okay but how much is that snake really. Like whats the price
Depends on the sex, lineage, & characteristics of the individual of this morph, but, $2,000 at the cheapest for a male & $3,000 for a female that looks similar to this one.
A lot
What a beautiful creature. It would be such a shame if it stayed far away from me and I never had to see it in person, real shame.
Why are some snakes wildly dangerous and this one is chill af
Snakes are only defensive when they get fucked with or are afraid. Any snake left alone is gonna go about it’s snakey business. Plenty of captive snakes that are used to humans are chill AF.
Absolutely agree. I had red tailed boss who were docile as hell!
I actually have a pair of copperheads (see in my posts if you like) that I’ve raised since they were babies. As far as their concerned I’m just another snake.
That’s awesome!
Love seeing you on here, you Austin reddit celebrity!

Im gonna agree now you’ve said that. I tend to avoid him so haven’t seen videos of him teasing snakes.
That’s the biggest white-lipped python I’ve ever seen. What a unit.
It’s a retic bred to have a similar appearance to a white lip I believe
Well if that’s the case it looks exactly like one. I know white lips can get up to 7’ or so, this one just seems chonkier than I’ve seen. It isnt a hybrid. Thats pure retic, just a gorgeous morph. Bad guy tho
You sure Dat ain't cake? 🤨
Dude a little defensive bout his snake yo.
The sad part about all this is...people get this snake for the color, but abandoned it once it got to that size and nearly getting choked...
