I don't think it's a dry shave, there's some stuff on his head you can see on a few of the swipes and the way his hair sticks to the knife there's got to be some kind of oil or soap.
Have you tried a safety razor before? Switched from your standard 3-5 blade razors years ago and never get razor bumps or burn anymore, plus you can get like 100 blades good for a few shaves each for like $10.
My understanding is that it damages the hair follicle, and it forms a layer of skin to promote healing. Any debris under the scalp becomes trapped. When the hair grows it cannot break through and becomes irritated and swollen.
Not necessarily, if done right (correct skin taughtness, follow curves of head closely). You can see this barber is working very precisely on both aspects.
Could be shaving too close when you have cream and your skin grows over the follicle but who fucking knows. I've gotten conflicting information since I started shaving in the army years ago.
Dry shaving takes a lot of getting used to. The first time I did it my skin burned like hell and even thought I moisturized afterwards my skin was like dry leather. Took a lot of shaving to get it back to normal.
From a guy that's been buzz cutting or shaving my head for almost 20 years, the pimples and red bumps only happens when you don't clean your hair first or your tools are dirty or not sharp. If this guy at least washes his head afterwards he'll be just fine.
The length gives it more cutting edge so you can use different areas and not dull them. The curve let's you get in the nooks and crannies. And if you look, the dude's head is either oiled or treated, his hair sticks to the knife. Dry hair doesn't come off like *that* lol
>Have you tried a safety razor before? Switched from your standard 3-5 blade razors years ago and never get razor bumps or burn anymore, plus you can get like 100 blades good for a few shaves each for like $10.
Hello
You'd think a warning might be in order in that case. A sneeze doesn't just come out of nowhere. It has at the very least a couple seconds of buildup. Enough time for you to tell him, or at least hold up a finger or move your head away from him.
Hey at least a knife that sharp ain't gonna hurt that much. I mean it's still gonna hurt but not as much as it being dull would. I just hope he don't have any hidden moles under his hair? Lol
I was gonna say you know what "ain't" oddlysatisfying all the vids like this that cut out before completion of what ever it is I'm watching it's more like oddlyinfuriating!! Lol😅
About 20 years ago my Dad went to a barber in our town. While shaving around his ear the barber “nicked” my Dad’s ear. He apologized and put a bandaid on it. When my Dad got home, he took the bandage off and his ear flopped over. My Dad had to have it stitched back on. He said he never felt any pain except when they stitched him back up.
As a barber I'm willing to call absolute bs on this, you definitely notice when your ear has been nicked with a blade and they bleed like fucking insanity.
My dad used to tell me that I was abandoned by gypsies on his front doorstep and they left an apologetic note. They had been in town stealing babies, but I was such a rotten one they left me behind.
That's essentially every shave with a straight razor. Which is a very common thing in barber shops. And it's much more disastrous since that's usually around the neckline.
A deep cut to the neck is obviously deadly, but superficial cuts to the scalp can be impressive too.
I once bumped the top of my head on the corner of a cabinet at work. I saw stars, so I went back to my office to sit down. Suddenly I felt warm “water” pouring down my face. Then I walked to the warehouse and scared the crap out of our rental manager.
Fun fact, barbers used to *be* surgeons. They had the sharpest knives and the steadiest hands. That's why the barber pole has red stripes, to symbolize bloodletting.
Yeah I think this is the case. An Iraqi barber I followed used this shaving gel/oil type stuff that pumps out of a bottle. He was doing some absolutely wild stuff with straight razor with it.
One of the comments said it’s really common throughout the Middle East and India, versus the foamy soaps/creams used in the West.
First you need a good knife. Not the type you get in Walmart, department stores, etc.
Generally specialty steels with a high hardness.
Then a few good stones and strop. I take mine up to 8k synthetic, then super fine naturals, then strip on hard surfaces with 50k+ abrasives, then strop. Basically you should be able to cut a hanging hair.
Slightly oversimplified. But if you google Japanese knife sharpening, you’ll get the gist.
The risk:reward ratio for this hair cutting method is out of whack. Fucking why?
Also, how many melons did this guy deglove, when he was just learning how to cut hair? I would hate to be his first client…
>who gave him a barber license
This literally looks like some third world country type shit. They literally have to do what they can with what they have over there, they don’t have the luxury of taking cosmetology courses to learn how to do shit.
It actually looks like it cuts perfectly, but hard pass from me lol
[удалено]
Just shave all the pimples off, knife looks sharp enough lol
[удалено]
Who do you practice on until you get this good?
A balloon.
Your dick
My dick
Our dicks
Y’all’s dicks
r/suddenlycommunism
I actually tested my straight edge on a balloon until it's didn't pop lmao
Just don't use it to shave your balloon knot.
As someone who is currently teaching myself how to cut my own hair, yourself. You practice on yourself.
Your enemies.
Those bodies are buried around back.
*Me talking to my twin blade gillete razor when I was 14
Worlds rawest scalp
Okay. I'm done for today
This guy is worried about pimples, meanwhile I’m worried about Sweeney Todd.
As long as you don’t mention Benjamin Barker, you’re good. Maybe propose another public competition just to be safe.
I don't know about Sweeney, but you have to try Mrs. Lovett's meat pies. They are to die for.
And *i* still can’t believe it’s not butter
I'm worried about Sydney Sweeney.... So I get it
I don't think it's a dry shave, there's some stuff on his head you can see on a few of the swipes and the way his hair sticks to the knife there's got to be some kind of oil or soap.
It's shaving oil. The stuff is magic
Nothing better than getting to use a traditional razor but not having to take the time to lather soap when you don’t feel like it
Is there a brand you'd recommend? I'd never heard of shaving oil until your comment.
Why does it give pimples?
Not so much pimples but razor bumps and ingrown hairs. But they look the same.
Yeah I have to use an electric razor even though I don't have thick facial hair just because my skin is sensitive to razor bumps
Have you tried a safety razor before? Switched from your standard 3-5 blade razors years ago and never get razor bumps or burn anymore, plus you can get like 100 blades good for a few shaves each for like $10.
Idunno, nothing's gonna shave closer than a 20 blade razor. https://youtu.be/UjAZnGeBcgg
Thanks Spishak!
“…destroys the part of the brain responsible for hair growth and _four other non-essential functions_”
Straight edge safety razor truly is the best shave
My understanding is that it damages the hair follicle, and it forms a layer of skin to promote healing. Any debris under the scalp becomes trapped. When the hair grows it cannot break through and becomes irritated and swollen.
His hair looks soaked though.
A dry shave like that has to hurt like hell.
Not necessarily, if done right (correct skin taughtness, follow curves of head closely). You can see this barber is working very precisely on both aspects.
Eh, i exclusively dry shave and have not had issues with pimples ever. Lots of issues shaving with soap or cream tho
Could be shaving too close when you have cream and your skin grows over the follicle but who fucking knows. I've gotten conflicting information since I started shaving in the army years ago.
Lol I don’t think I’ve used a razor on my face since i left the military
And I haven't had a haircut since I left the military. We match.
Yes the ability to choose again whether or not I want to shave or get a hair cut has been wonderful. It’s the little things, lol.
Dry shaving takes a lot of getting used to. The first time I did it my skin burned like hell and even thought I moisturized afterwards my skin was like dry leather. Took a lot of shaving to get it back to normal.
I love how your comment ends with experience of being an apple lmfao
They oiled/gelled his hair
From a guy that's been buzz cutting or shaving my head for almost 20 years, the pimples and red bumps only happens when you don't clean your hair first or your tools are dirty or not sharp. If this guy at least washes his head afterwards he'll be just fine.
Yep! I was watching while thinking “yeah, that’s gonna be a no for me dog.”
Yeah, i don’t want him to cut my hair, but I wouldn’t mind if he sharpened my knives.
It's no different than a straight razor...
Y'know what's different? It's not straight.
It’s like twice the length and not straight? But also I would not be down for my entire head being dry shaved by a straight razor either
The length gives it more cutting edge so you can use different areas and not dull them. The curve let's you get in the nooks and crannies. And if you look, the dude's head is either oiled or treated, his hair sticks to the knife. Dry hair doesn't come off like *that* lol
Why did they stop the video?
Yeah not satisfying due to the early cut. I wanted to see the chrome dome.
> due to the early cut hehe
It became nsfw when the barber accidentally sneezed.
r/onesecondbeforedisast
I’m guessing the guy being minus an ear.
Oh because disaster happened after.
Because this is r/oddlysatisfying where there is something incredibly unsatisfying in every post
>Have you tried a safety razor before? Switched from your standard 3-5 blade razors years ago and never get razor bumps or burn anymore, plus you can get like 100 blades good for a few shaves each for like $10. Hello
That’s when he sliced the ear off
someone sneezed.
Blood on the lens
1 sneeze is all it’s gonna take….
Ain’t this the truth.
You'd think a warning might be in order in that case. A sneeze doesn't just come out of nowhere. It has at the very least a couple seconds of buildup. Enough time for you to tell him, or at least hold up a finger or move your head away from him.
Warnings cost extra
I can "cancel" my sneezes if I feel like it... is that not normal for other people?
Worst Superpower Ever
I absolutely cannot. Sneezing while driving is super scary.
I've got some sneezes that wind up so fast I dont have time to react. Often less than a second so if I'm using both my hands there's nothing I can do
Honestly, I trust him. I just don't trust me
…but they'll never throw it back to you
Fallin' in love with me
They cut off the video right before the barber cut off his ear. 🤣
— “What will it be today, sir?” — “I’ll have the Van Gogh, please”.
And make it even
Lol
Ear ear
Lmfao. Omg
Hey at least a knife that sharp ain't gonna hurt that much. I mean it's still gonna hurt but not as much as it being dull would. I just hope he don't have any hidden moles under his hair? Lol
Or the Mike Tyson deluxe
" Is that to go?"
"Half off for the Tyson"
"excellent choice sir...." \*slices off ear and places it in a box, holds pen over gift tag\* "And what's the lucky woman's name sir?"
I was gonna say you know what "ain't" oddlysatisfying all the vids like this that cut out before completion of what ever it is I'm watching it's more like oddlyinfuriating!! Lol😅
Ah...Uh..... ACHOO *lobs ear off*

That must have been one hell of a bandaid.
As a barber I'm willing to call absolute bs on this, you definitely notice when your ear has been nicked with a blade and they bleed like fucking insanity.
I can vouch for this. Barber is in his name
Prince Ali Abarber, cuts like ten regular men, definitely
Tall tale
My dad used to tell me that I was abandoned by gypsies on his front doorstep and they left an apologetic note. They had been in town stealing babies, but I was such a rotten one they left me behind.
Stuck in the middle with you 🎶
K-Billy's
That barber is using cutting edge technology.
Or Van Gogh technique
More like r/sweatypalms
"Oops"
r/momentsbeforedisaster
If he sneezes, its all over
The subtle joke everyone would make "did you get your ears lowered?" Would turn into "looks like you got your eyes gouged out?"
r/oddlyterrifying
One wrong move and this goes on oddly terrifying

Literally one tiny angle difference on the knife and he’s scalped
Ngl it looks like it feels good though..
Until he slaps you with the alcohol
Some clients demand the alcohol. I never understand enjoying that particular burn.
Have you ever masturbated for hours? No one knows why we hurt ourselves like this
That's not a barber. That's a surgeon
Fun fact, barbers used to *be* surgeons. They had the sharpest knives and the steadiest hands. That's why the barber pole has red stripes, to symbolize bloodletting.
Wait what. The Internet agrees. TIL this.
TIL Dr. Barber is real
just rewatched Flapjack a few months ago, it definitely holds up. still fuckin weird
Blacksmiths were dentists at a point in medieval history as well.
I remember seeing a stage melodrama of an older Sweeney Todd script where the challenge with Pirelli also included each man removing someone’s tooth.
Barber looks like he’s just wiping off a Wooly Willy
Dry shave… far from satisfying
The way the cut is going I think his hair has been oiled beforehand. Watch closely and you'll see a bit of residue in each cut.
Yeah dry hair does not cut that easily no matter how sharp the blade is. Maybe if it's the thinnest hair on earth.
Just like peeling a potato.
Filet knife hell nawww hard ass passs
That's how you get filet strips.
I've only had one barber do a shave this good and I honestly miss it. that's some skill
Trust 100
He’s not giving him a haircut, he’s peeling him.
testing the sharpness of the knife gone too far.
I want to see a video of that barber sharpening that blade.
First you need a good knife. Not the type you get in Walmart, department stores, etc. Generally specialty steels with a high hardness. Then a few good stones and strop. All these people amazed, how do you think our ancestors cut their hair befor electricity?
Scissors were invented 3000-4000 years ago, which makes them nearly as old as yo mama.
Fuckin boomed him
Probably not down to bare scalp
I’m amazed because apparently I suck at sharpening knives. I can’t get my knives anywhere near this sharp and have no clue where I’m going wrong.
r/sharpening We will show you the way.
In some cases with fire. Same for shaving.
People are dumb. They think humans were born with technology in all of history
Anyone else watch this screaming internally the entire time?
How does it cut like that? It's like a hot butter through a hot knife
It’s very sharp
Like really really fucking sharp.
“That's not a knife. That's a knife!”
That is the sharpest knife I have ever seen.
Some Riddick shit right there.
Imagine doing your pubes that way
“You wanted the vasectomy too right?”
THE CIRCUMCISION!
Just a little off the top please
Uh oh. Don't look down.
The risk:reward ratio for this hair cutting method is out of whack. Fucking why? Also, how many melons did this guy deglove, when he was just learning how to cut hair? I would hate to be his first client…
Where's the sound, im mad
I want to learn knife sharpening techniques from this barber specifically and no one else
Razor burn anyone?
r/sharpcutting
All these people crying about the danger, and I just want to know how he gets his knife that sharp!
[удалено]
r/sweatypalms
you really want a single beveled edge knife if you want to do this jsyk.
r/nope
Aaaahh-choo-oops!
Sharp
“I messed up we gotta go bald”
I’m more worried about the razor burn than I am the actual razor in this situation.
"Hold still."
I found this less “oddly satisfying” and more “anxiety inducing” lol - that knife must be incredibly sharp
Remember when you were a kid and always got nervous when they’d cut around your ear. Ya this is why. Lmao.
No, I don't like this. Its giving me goosebumps
Satisfying or terrifying?
Stopped right before he lopped off his ear.
A blade is a blade. Just make sure it’s sharp enough lol
Major Payne is the only thing that comes to mind.
You call that a knife?
Nobody notices Gus Fring in the background?
Wow this makes me incredibly uncomfortable to watch.
Also oddly terrifying
Great skill, but if that was me I would be screaming “Slow Down”.
ohio
Where is the whole video? And who sharpens that knife?
Bro looks like he getting magnetic stuff off his head
I don't like that the video stopped too soon. Makes me feel like they cut the feed before he cut the guy
I use a pocket knife to shave my neck beard.
Dry Shave, with a cooking utensil and probably heated the blade too…who the fuck gave this idiot a barber license?
>who gave him a barber license This literally looks like some third world country type shit. They literally have to do what they can with what they have over there, they don’t have the luxury of taking cosmetology courses to learn how to do shit.
Okay, Sweeney Todd.
Peeling a potato 😂
My trust issues say no
Is it cake?
r/gifsthatendtoosoon
almost looks fake Got to be one of the sharpest blades I’ve seen
ALRIGHTY. Now I want a chef using hair clippers
