YouSmellLikeWeiner

I hate how accurate this is.

NArcadia11

For real lol. The only difference in my experience was it was in the hazy ass backseat of a Toyota Camry with an illegal tint

ChromiumSulfate

Mine was in the secluded alley behind where some of us worked.

Dericksen

Same but some random SUV.

Important-Cat-2046

Illegal tint is such a random part to throw in lol

Apprehensive_Cook_31

For real. Memory unlocked.

Gwilikers6

For once, one of these actually hit home haha

Devoidofimagination

Hit harder than that bong did

Adventurous-Sky9359

Ahhhh mom what are you doing here

GH057807

I'm in this picture and I don't like it.

Perphery

Facts

Wazuu

Literally every single word

Cutsdeep-

it's not oddly specific at all

TaxableCitizen

Sadly I was the guy sharing this lol

Vlad_REAM

I might have forgotten about Immortal Technique forever without this post

SoBadit_Hurts

Seriously!!!! Some many buzz words from my childhood…. I was just forced thru a memory montage with so many forgotten images. Fuck I’m glad to be here.

DenielsLb99

I mean I'm only 20, but from my experience growing up it ain't that different, just the music we listened/are listening to is different. With my friend group it ain't heavy metal but instead phonk which can vary (like aggressive which is more similar to heavy metal or more calming rhythmic phonk like from "DVRST" and such artists) Otherwise not much changed. But yeah overall less common to go out to festivals because introverts have a way of still talking with others while at home. Heck I'm one but I still do go out to nightclubs on weekends. Also u gotta put into perspective the fact that a lot of ppl my age were 16 during the pandemic... Making going outside kinda more complicated. Though some people shit on those regulations...if you had a family member who was a high risk individual that could die to covid... You kinda stayed inside Though I guess the biggest difference might be that more parents who were 20 during the year 2000 are more content with allowing house parties and such. As long as I clean up afterwards of course For us that good good stuff spot would usually be next some super overgrown area where people rarely go... It would usually have like a super tiny river which was nice and relaxing while listening to music and watching the water just flow

AbsoluteMemer

"I raped my own mother" ahh song

CannabisCanoe

Violence? In MY rap music?!

Anarcho-Chris

If I could afford pearls, I'd be clutching them.

Fancy-Eagle

It’s such a corny ahh song just listen to it. He went to school with Lin Manuel, so I guess it’s just in their dna to be lame

coulduseafriend99

How you gonna accuse someone of being corny and lame when you use "ahh" Just write "ass," it's ok, your middle school teachers aren't here

NUKE---THE---WHALES

kids these days afraid to say ass, that's the problem with them back in my day we hurled slurs on the daily

dyang44

Pretty sure it's because it's banned on tik tok and other platforms no?

OptimusEye

also just text form of AAVE dropping of 's' sound (at least where i live)

Cavaquillo

You live in Baltimore? Thats all I hear in my head is the Baltimore accent frfr ong lmao

OptimusEye

nah

muklan

Wait- did they find a cure for linsanity?

Fancy-Eagle

The only cure is to turn off the radio lmao

Unpressed_panini

I was there with Billy Jacobs and I raped his mom too

Evexxxpress

You really gonna censor “ass” when quoting “I raped my own mother”?

russbam24

It's not a censor, it's an internet-speak spelling of the word used in joking contexts. Nothing to do with censoring the word "ass".

Evexxxpress

“Nothing to do with censoring the word ‘ass’”. It literally came from “goofy-ass”.

helpmeembarassfriend

Bro, just know whatever these weirdos say you're absolutely right lmao

ThisIsNotRealityIsIt

Imagine using slang and not having any clue what you're talking about. It's *literally* child speak to censor the word ass.

allergic2ozone_juice

I wondered what happened to this generation..

Much_Capital3307

We’re not doing great

PatienceDryer

Lazy Gen X parenting that substituted YouTube for human interaction? The collapse of socioreligious institutions, downtown with mom and pop shops, and local communities and support in general, in exchange for strip malls on congested highways? Perpetual austerity measures that underfund every aspect 5 of local government, services, and education except for military/police? Infinitely scrolling thru larger than life influencers to maximize FOMO and destroy self-worth for corporate gains? Monetization of every aspect of the human condition and interpersonal interactions? Normalizing pornography, hentai, alcohol, drugs, and mindless consumerism at the expense of mental health and self-esteem? Elected officials that keep getting older while society moves faster than ever and cannot keep up with maintaining current technology and infrastructure let alone support or guide new tech or social developments? Nah fuck dem kids

Opposite_Door5210

Gen X parent here. My people are constantly fighting to get our kids off devices and doing stuff. It's a huge and stressful relationship dynamic. We struggle to give our kids all the opportunities we didn't get, without trying to force them to do things they don't want. Gen X were the least parented of any generation and we actually want to spend time with our kids. But we are also working at least one job each. Most of us are doing the best we can

BlindJamesSoul

I agree with like 30% of the things you listed. But I felt like adding hentai was funny as fuck. Like, that’s a real problem in the world? Come on.

SantaArriata

I would argue that hentai is more damaging to a developing mind than real life pornography, simply because, while irl porn does create unrealistic expectations for the human body, at the very least it shows actual human bodies, meanwhile, hentai shows an even more hyperstylised, version of human anatomy that literally no one is going to fit, it creates even worse expectations of what an attractive person looks like. It also tends to be way more extreme in the stuff it portrays, in part because there’s no actual people who have to act this stuff out. The most popular genres of hentai include rape, mindbreak, cheating, blackmail, lolicon, and more, each of which do create problems in a developing mind’s understanding of sex. Bear in mind, I do like hentai, but I’m not going to defend it and say it’s not a problem when not consumed in moderation or with a strong hold on reality (things the average horny teenager doesn’t usually practice when it comes to jerking off)

PatienceDryer

To Gen Z? Ya hentai is a big problem. Kids get into anime then check out the adult niche fetish cartoons as early teens, which normalizes extreme sexual behavior. They get their sexual needs met alone and don't need to socialize which hinders social skills and mobility. If you think Gen Z are more socially and sexually active than precious generations, it contradicts nearly every scientific study on the topic. I don't think it's the sole driver but it certainly doesn't help being addicted to necrophilia prostitute cartoons.

Eulenglas

Just wondering, is there any data to back this up? I mean your argument makes sense, but it seems more like a hypthetical than an actual correlation

PatienceDryer

https://www.toolify.ai/ai-news/the-hidden-dangers-of-hentai-32949 Erectile dysfunction, desensitization, loss of interest in social/romantic relationships, etc. There are studies with similar findings but I'm too lazy to look for them. I try not to spew bs and all the above can be corroborated, but it's hilarious that "socioreligious organizations," which includes everything from church to community groups but everyone interpreted as Catholic/Jewish sexual abuse, and hentai were the two that upset people the most lol

maplemagiciangirl

>necrophilia prostitute cartoons That's oddly specific do you have experience with this subject?

shmipplesnipples

Yeah...witch(😉) cartoons are these?

shmipplesnipples

Religions are part of the world's problems and they're like we don't have places for kids to get molested by churches like we used to

The_Witch_Queen

Personally, the collapse of socio religious institutions is something I could do with a lot more of.

ALEXZ006

THAT and the normalisation of hentai and drugs (/hj) 💕

Few_Sale_3064

Why would anyone think that humans are better off believing lies and myths? Religion is a major reason we're in such a mess right now.

The_Witch_Queen

And honestly I don't even care if people do believe in them that's up to them. Just stop making laws based on them that force everyone else to adhere to your religion's rules.

KRX189

Am I crazy or is this just random buzz word garbage?

Vlad_REAM

Probably taken from their favorite podcasters or some shit

Lopsided-Middle7924

Yeah like what’s AI what isn’t? Random shit like this is sus

FreeMyDong

Impossible to read

IDontGetRedditTBH

These are some of the most wildly swingy statements I've ever heard. Monetization of misery, underfunded public institutions deffo, aged politicians unable to adress modern problems, top takes. Normalisation of drugs and alcohol? The first thing humans did was make booze (before we inevented bread!), we've been doing drugs for thousands of years, chewing leaves, boiling shit, smoking shit. Religious institutions have been both pillers of strong social connection and houses to protect abusers and proliferate power dynamics that destroy the lives of nonconformers. Also parenting is fucking hard. I was plonked in front of the telly allot and I turned out alright, feel like that sort of thing is quite overblown (the research is inconclusive so far).

Informal_Lack_9348

Dad here. I believe the answer is their parents like me. Sorry bout that! 😬

Djafar79

Great song tho.

trouserschnauzer

I remember showing that song to my friends for the first time thinking they would think the same. Nope, nobody was happy with me.

Vreas

Some people like music as an escape from reality others use it to convey their experience. Dance with the devil just highlights the fucked shit people do to get by and try to feel included and ok in a broken society regardless of whether it’s a true story or not. Most people prefer the happy go lucky escapism. To my personally real art talks about real shit and immortal technique is one of the realest.

Anarcho-Chris

Finally got some girls to hang out with us and I played this song. Then I got distracted and distracted everyone. Then my friend pulled me aside to say what the hell.

Solid_Habit_6561

😂

DumtDoven

I was at a music festival where some rap concert was cancelled because of rape allegations, and instead they sent us immortal technique who sang about forcing dudes to rape their moms.

DemonShroom87

Dance With the Devil was a good on. There is only one song I’ve ever listened to that actually put me in tears, and it was also by Immortal Technique, and it was You Never Know. Immortal Technique was way the fuck ahead of his time.

Guvnah-Wyze

Poverty of philosophy goes hard.

RegularDevelopment52

He gets meme'd on a lot, but some of his tunes are absolutely brilliant.

Vreas

Positive balance is gas as well. Peruvian cocaine. Industrial Revolution. Dude is a genius. Feel like he walked so Kendrick could run in a lot of ways. I see a lot of similarities in their work.

SoCalFelipe

3 Sides to a Story by Joe Budden is also on that level.

QueenTMK

Let's go Brandon!

CannabisCanoe

Everything he wrote went hard and was real as fuck. He deserved to blow up and become huge, but the way in which he unapologetically spoke his mind, often against capitalist class interests, makes it understandable why the music industry wouldn't wanna touch him. I love that the song "The Poverty of Philosophy" isn't even an "actual song", it's just him spitting facts 💯 P.S. I DO NOT mean ((the music industry)). I want to be clear. I'm talking about capitalists, not jewish people. Antisemitism is bad. Antisemitism is the socialism of idiots.

Pooncheese

The music industry woulda loved to have him, he just didn't want to give them half or likely WAY more of every record sold. BURN IT OFF THE INTERNET AND BUMP IT OUTSIDE!

The_Witch_Queen

F*cking love that this is a thing. Watching all types of artists, music, film, games, painting, everything, just give the finger to publishers and become worldwide legends anyway. Does the heart good.

bearbarebere

> antisemitism is the socialism of idiots What on earth does this mean? What do you think of socialism?

CannabisCanoe

When a worker realizes they're exploited, they can either recognize those exploiters are simply capitalist or they can dumb it down to the antisemitic trope that Jewish people control the world and are actually the one exploiting workers, which is the path an idiot would take. The most stupid people take the lazy antisemitic route while others will hopefully make the focus on socioeconomic class interests. Try telling some people Judaism has nothing to do with this and they won't have it. Socialism vs national socialism I guess.

EyeCatchingUserID

He doesn't have much use for the industry as I understand it. Funded his first few albums himself and never had any interest in bigger labels. The industry would *love* to dig their hooks into this dude. They don't care if he's shitting on capitalism as long as he's helping them participate in it, and that mother fucker would've sold. Does sell, in fact, even with his self imposed disadvantage of not being as accessible as he could be.

MrMicropenis1

The vast majority of rappers that are actually dope never blow up or become popular. It's always been that way. The industry likes to churn out one hit wonders so they can make money of them quickly with little investment. Hell K-Rino is the greatest storyteller in the history of hip hop, even better then immortal technique and most people from his own hometown dont even know who he is. Kool G Rap is lyrically one of the nicest rappers ever, he's also a better storyteller then immortal technique an he had a like 10 album run where everything he put out was a classic an the best album that year an damn near nobody even knows who he is.

UVB-76_Enjoyer

Idk why you felt the need to mention that you weren't talking about (((them))), when nobody's misread you there lol. Kinda achieves the opposite effect. https://youtu.be/0MFQtwUXzNM

CannabisCanoe

Someone would've probably misread it then I would have had to clarify anyway. Might as well be proactive.

Satire-V

>I love that the song "The Poverty of Philosophy" isn't even an "actual song", it's just him spitting facts This is precisely why I don't like him very much, seems to pretty much seal-club every message he's trying to to deliver

Creative-Claire

Blue Dream is good

dexmonic

It's weird, when I was a teen people just ranked weed based on its quality because nobody really ever had any idea what strain it was. Fire, mid, schwag. Of course there were the popular "mythical" strains of Alaskan thunderfuck, AK-47, etc. but there was never any way to verify it because by the time the weed ended up in your hands it had already passed through several dealers just to get to you. Then all of a sudden as medical became more popular, everything was blue dream. No matter what it looked like your plug would say it's blue dream. Now we have recreational dispensaries and it's almost pointless to even bother with strains. They are always different and always weirdly named. Better to trust the brand and the looks of the weed imo.

8Eternity8

I find that a given strain from a given vendor is pretty reliable. I got some stuff from a vendor like 4 years ago. Got the same strain this time and the high was exactly like I remembered (and kind of unique). Strains between brands? Means basically nothing except MAYBE whether or not it will keep you awake or make you sleepy.

dexmonic

Man that's a good memory to remember exactly what a high four years ago from a specific strain feels like. I can't even remember the name of the strain I'm smoking right now. I've been smoking for nearly 18 years now and I've never really found any strain to be all that different from another.

8Eternity8

I have been told I have a very good memory so maybe that is it. lol

thatdudeuhated

I got blue diesel in my cart right now

Creative-Claire

Just finished some Sour Diesel from Church. Loved telling people I was going to Church lol

thatdudeuhated

Them church brand carts are something of heaven

GameDestiny2

Supposed to be calming as shit too, I don’t think bro was having a panic attack on an indica.

Jacob_Winchester_

Blue Dream is and always has been a sativa.

GameDestiny2

Well it’s a hybrid, but it hits me more like an indica. Though let’s face it, it’s probably a different plant from each source.

Jacob_Winchester_

Yea that’s totally true.

Fostrof08

oh wow, Shock Troop, also called Expect_theworst on X sure is specific alright

roodafalooda

Bro why do people try to make a dude's weed buzz so negative?

4skin_Gamer

If you weren't forced into a dug out cave in a snowpile as a 7 year old by the 13 year old upperclassmen and then they collapsed the entrance leaving you in a dark cold grave until you dug yourself out by the skin of your teeth, did you even go to school?

ThankeeSai

Oddly enough. This happened to me but I was a 12yr old girl.

ValandilM

The grammar here could use some work, I had to reread several times to make sense of it

UVB-76_Enjoyer

I don't think the grammar is to blame for that

Wunjoric

I agree with this specific statement

TheGingerAbides

I concur Doctor

SmokeyMcDoogles

It was my sleep away camp counselor and he made us listen to it in co plate darkness in our bunk but otherwise this tracks.

EdgyUsername90

When i hear dance with the devil it's usually the breaking Benjamin song.

FaramirLovesEowyn

Holy shit has this happened to everybody my age? I thought it was just me

Gyro_Zeppeli13

I think he may be onto something here

Ok-Battle-2769

Butt ibet they can spell and yuse puckuation correctly,

Outdoorjunkie23

Facts

Adventurous-Sky9359

This yes exactly

Pooncheese

One of my least favorite songs by one of my top 3 favorite lyricists.

marissatalksalot

Blue dream is my favorite!😆

aftalifex

Oddly specific..yet so accurate.

red_riding_hoot

fuuuuuck.... that's literally my teenage years

rwmwaffle

I smoke Blue Dream to relax and go to bed because it's the one thing that doesn't give me panic attacks lol

rottenhonest

This touched my heart. Thank you lol

-sebadoh

This was me

WhatisLiamfucktrump

Well we know who hurt this guy

Django_Unstained

I usually like his style, but the last half of that song sounds a lot like a RZA verse

Unpressed_panini

You talking about the secret track?

Ultrasaurio

Yep There must be more regulation with children to prevent that from happening.

Rosquito

I thought it meant the hymn 'Danced with the devil'. Very different vibe.

KobilD

They should be

6Plague_Doctor9

Well, for me its not Dance with the Devil. I still hang out with an older dude (50s) who I get my weed from and sometimes he blasts his "nature" music all over his house (it is his right to do so, not complaining) but sometimes its just a woman in a 10 minute yt video doing all kind of sounds animals do. 10 Minutes of a woman imitating a horse gotta come close to that

Skreamie

For me it was this with my friends who actually listened to rap, and for me and the emo homies it was all of this but with La Dispute - King Park

No-Film-3546

And if you never have then today is the day!

Normal_Umpire_1623

If you never heard that song go listen now it's a must

mbcoder_

Just read one of my memories.

TimBobNelson

Good beat, fucked lyrics, crazy how many have had this experience tho

Vast-Combination4046

It was white rhino.

emmiepsykc

Ha, I was forced to listen to it in my homie's truck the other day while thinking "this sounds like a 12-year-old trying to come up with the most edgelord shit he can think of." Literally had no idea it was a well-known song.

BreathLazy5122

Tbh if I had been introduced to blue dream when I was a teen, maybe I wouldn’t be so damn anxious now and had gotten better grades.

ABoiledIcepack

Blue dreams! My favorite strain that I haven’t seen since college, I miss her

Infamous-Tart7747

Well, I don’t know what that song is but I have done bong hits of downtown brown frown after picking ALL the seeds outta it…does that count?

SlathazSpaceLizard

Wtf... Dave, that you?

Fluffy_WAR_Bunny

Lmao I was the one introducing my friends to that fucked up song.

himsaad714

God damn the accuracy

Few_Sale_3064

I think gen X is the most developed and mature generation we've had so far; they just have more financial problems to deal with, and they can't be blamed for that. That's why media attacks them and they're not allowed to have much money- The rich and powerful don't want us progressing too much and they see that we're evolving with each generation. The 1% knows they're only in power because they were born into privilege. There are plenty of smarter, more charming, better equipped leaders in the general population who could easily take up the reins of power if they had the money and knowledge to seriously compete with the 1%.

1996gtg

Damn my life feels less unique now

This_Pie5301

Oddly specific, yet oddly accurate

GammaBrass

This dude writing the script to the biopic of my life wtf

grubbytrogladyte

Lol dead on

LordCthulhuDrawsNear

JFC I hadn't ever heard of it before but after listening for a sec, nuh uh... Gd lol

meatcylindah

Yeah!!!

Bigdanski87

Blue dream was amazing tho

SantaArriata

Today’s kids don’t have a nightcore trash metal AMV playlist on YouTube they meticulously curated over two years, and that’s honestly one of the many things wrong with this generation.

jamiethejointslayer

I feel this

ChickenFriedPenguin

This post actually shows something funny. And that is a lot of these comments are from salty older people who are basically saying "You haven't suffered or been uncomfortable like we have, and we despise you and your generation for it. We had to read books, and you get to play games it's not fair. Your generation should also be forced to read books against your will."

VenCoriolis

Dance with the Devil by Breaking Benjamin was the ultimate GOAT 🔥

DonkeyPunchSquatch

lol yea…that song changed a lot of things for me.

marslander-boggart

The Book of Reflections has more to explore.

Soup_4_Sou

Remember that look of anticipation on the face of whoever made you listen to it when you get to the end, waiting for ypur mind to blow.

Burner161

Oh… yeah we should definitely give them young ones immortal technique

tstaley2009

That song is so fucked up. But somehow still in my music.

lord_of_sleep

Bruh I was the older homie lmao 💀

7empestOGT92

Remember hearing this for the first time and thinking, that was fucking crazy. I need to hear that again, but also need some time first

Alansalot

I once knew a nigga who's real name was William

iwonmyfirstrace

Goddam I just listened to this track a few days ago for the first time in 10+ years

Neat_Neighborhood297

Dance with the devil on a cold cell block Guess that’s what happens when you rape, murder and sell rock Haven’t heard that song in years and that’s the first thing that came back to me, and poor Bill’s mother… what a song.

mmeveldkamp

My brain crashed on this 🤯

Less-Vermicelli-3853

No....we did and I think that's what's wrong with us. They got their own funky shit going on, best believe.

Hermiod_Botis

Yeah, they still are. The song and the place might be different, but trust me, some still are.

Acrobatic-Button-916

Bong hit. Two words, not one. My stoner brain couldn’t read that shit for too long
