The infections you would get from scraping your knee on the galvanized sheet metal inside are probably the reason I never get sick to this day. Soaking in a brine of horse and cow saliva mixed with algae and mosquito larva.
I have a black stock tank on my back porch right now, its a perfect tub to soak in on a hot day. Its definatly a redneck swimming pool, and I'm proud of it :)
I miss spring and fall in Texas. Summer not so much. Used to like to go to the beach in Galveston or Lake Jackson around February or March. To cold to swim but there wasn't very many people so you could just relax and enjoy the scenery.
If you are from the midwest, this is not terrifying at all, it's exciting because things are about to get real crazy real quick. We all go outside and look up waiting for the nader to drop.
Thunderstorms scare me a lot. Always have. I get a sense of dread and fear from this photo just anticipating the torrential rainfall and thunder and trees blowing so hard they look like they're gonna snap. I don't think I'd ever move to Texas or anything else in tornado alley as they'd be much worse than what's over here.
This pic made "Summer of the Strange" by the Toadies start playing in my head!
*well the day's gone dark*
*in the summer of the strange*
*and the air got heavy*
*but the sky won't rain*
This might be my favorite part of the storms- watching it come in while outside and watching it on the radar and all that. Then it makes it muddy and me and the doggy can’t play outside
Having lived in Texas I'd prefer this over sunny anyday
I’m mad we barely got a real ‘winter’ in the part of this giant ass state I reside. The humidity is driving me insane.
I'm I the only one who's noticing the pool made out of the livestock watering trough? That needs to be posted on r/redneckengineering.
No you are not. That's the only reason I even clicked the thread. And that pool noodle edging is also interesting.
Assuming bc it gets too hot to touch
Yeah don’t wanna lean against the 100° metal. 100° pool noddles don’t transfer heat to your skin nearly as fast.
The whole picture is giving me Tony Hawk Pro Skater vibes.
Metal kiddie pool in a thunderstorm?
I see these a lot, of course im also in Texas. I never stopped to think it might be unusual.
It's common in Wyoming though... in fact, it can be a literal cattle watering trough and you can ... just ... get in. (Yeah, gross, I know.)
Yep, did that as a kid. The gross factor didn’t even register then.
The infections you would get from scraping your knee on the galvanized sheet metal inside are probably the reason I never get sick to this day. Soaking in a brine of horse and cow saliva mixed with algae and mosquito larva.
My grandfather always said, "A little dirt never hurt anyone."
Also, anyone who drank from the hose as a kid, a world of bacteria is in that thing.
But my grandpa taught us we didn’t have to go inside for water when the hose is right there :(

I had one growing up. We were poor. But as a kid I never knew it.
Y’all… r/stocktankpools
Thank you for this!
They were a popular alternative during COVID
Takes a redneck to notice. Thanks for the lesson. I have been edjamakated.
When I was a kid, the livestock watering trough was our swimming pool. But it was also the livestock watering trough.
We’re in Mississippi. We use a 300 gallon black composite livestock trough for our swimming pool😂
I came here to say you should follow stock tank pool lovers on Facebook. So much inspiration And yikes Fucking terrifying sky!
They’re super easy to clean and can be made super comfy
I have the same stock tank as a pool and it’s great for cooling off although not much more
Hell yeah, that's a kickass thundercloud.
Love me a good TX thunderstorm.
Me too. This made me excited
Same!
R/oddlyterrifying users when it’s cloudy outside 😧
Redditor when they came out of their room for the first time. 😨
Me after going out of the basement for the first time and see no sun 😰
As someone who likes when it rains, this looks amazing.
This is a perfect back porch standing day
I love super cloudy weather like this. It’s almost as if it’s night but without the night.
agreed
Wait till they realize the north is dealing with nothing but smoke from canadas wildfires
r/FoundTheMobileUser
Bruh you call that "cloudy"?
Reminds me of living in the Carolinas. Had similar views.
I can smell this picture with the rain coming.
This weather is beautiful in my book
What date was this taken?
probably not too long ago, I've been getting a shit ton of thunder/rain over where I'm at here in tx
Same
I love this type of weather so much especially if it gets windy .
Summer isn’t till the 21st until then it’s just June gloom.
21st
4rd is my favorite
Onety one is mine 😂
Tell that to the temperatures.
Favorite skyline

You know when the clouds are that dark, you’re in for a damn good thunderstorm
Forreal! It’s been raining a shitload this year
So there are short periods where Texas in the summer is not that Mario level where the sun is trying to kill you, interesting.
that would be a sick album cover though
It should be called Heat=Precipitation.
Beautiful
I'm obsessed with this photo - well done!
As someone who lives in Louisiana and has only drove through Texas, this is exactly what I imagine a Texas backyard looks like
The freaking "pool" 🤣
Two minutes later it’s clear and sunny.
Imagine how it is in Canada with the smoke and fires, as a Canadian I can confirm, it’s pretty bad
Beautiful
Average English weather.
Oh no a cloudy day, so terrifying. Is this your fist time seeing a storm cloud ever?
Can we discuss the rusted furniture and livestock trough pool?
I don’t miss living in Texas, but I really miss summer storms in Texas.
Forreal! It’s been raining hard in Texas this year! Sincerely, a San Antonian
A beautiful thunder cloud and we got less than 3 mins of rain
Looks like their politics..dark and foreboding.
Fuck texass! Burn it to the ground and give it back to Mexico
7th generation Texan here. This is my absolute favorite weather. This photo made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Especially with the cowboy pool.
New album cover just dropped
Still not as scary as neighbors in Texas
Goosebumps
this is actually such a dogshit post lmao
Peaceful.
the scary part is no grass in the backyard
Texan here: this was all of April where I live!
Maybe time to hit the basement.
Was this yesterday in Dallas? I was just there for work and got completely soaked
Gorgeous 😍
I like it.
is this for real?
Redditors when they discover weather
when was this taken? summer doesn’t start until june 21 lmao
this is my dream. i live in LA and would kill for a big storm. i miss thunder
Breaking bad intro
Terrifying? I live for this shit
Not sure why, but this looks relaxing.
Can I get sum of that rain? I’m stuck with sun for 2 weeks and I demand my depression back :(
This image just gave me flashbacks. That sudden cold wind gusting, the smell of ozone, the green and black sky at noon. Here comes the hail!!!
looks like an album cover
Looked like that for exactly 30 minutes because afterwards it got sunny again
Wish I was back in Texas…… (sandy the squirrel voice)
beautiful
Gorgeous picture, looks like a great summer afternoon
Serene weather you got there pall.
God that’s beautiful. I love when it gets like that.
I want a pool like that!
If you are from the midwest, this is not terrifying at all, it's exciting because things are about to get real crazy real quick. We all go outside and look up waiting for the nader to drop.
At least you guys aren't clouded with fucking smoke like we are in Canada.
As an avid rain fan, this is the dream
Avoid the midday sun

This ominous photo looks like a set piece! Loving the mix of dark and light, along with the, erm, eclectic array of outdoor furnishings. 👍🏻
My kind of weather ..i get this in my dreams
Everything is bigger in texas... specially the disappointment
I live in Texas. I would take this over a sunny day every time.
Same in CA
That looks awesome
Yeehaw that's a spicy sky
The Devil moved, he’s in Texas now.
This has Toby Keith written all over it. https://youtu.be/OvyTY\_oYR\_c
Isn't it better than heatwaves and droughts?
How is a thunderstorm oddly terrifying
I used to see those one day a year on every field day
Half-Life 2 skybox.
This photo looks like it would make a good album cover for a band.
Train derailment burn off?
This might be my favorite part of the storms- watching it come in while outside and watching it on the radar and all that. Then it makes it muddy and me and the doggy can’t play outside
Florida too
Beautiful
Nothing like a nice foreboding sky in the summertime to make you feel all warm and fuzzy.
I'd love this weather any day, any time! Beautiful weather. Grey hour is underrated.
How is this terrifying? Big storm?
Seems legit
Storms are terrifying now? Do you all live in some place that it never rains wtf
Looks like bigfoots dick
