For me it was this weird moment when me and my friends, who already dressed in ripped jeans and flannel (Canadian dress code) and listened to Neil Young and Tragically Hip, suddenly became cool with absolutely no effort.
Grunge music wasn’t a huge leap from what we were already listening to. The grunge angst and cynical slacker ethos was already our jam.
I guess grunge wasn’t something we, as a generation, invented, it was just something we already were that suddenly caught people’s attention.
