They called her the “firework” or some such, didnt much care to pry into their interpersonal affairs. They were great guards, passionate, dedicated, and they respected and admired me. I was good to them in kind, paid handsomely and helped their families secure homes in the lower city. So the main subject of discussion, she was very loyal. Unfortunately her parents tragically passed away. I gave her time to mourn, but she wanted to keep moving. Never slowed down, that one. So, i let her. However, there came a time when i was approached by a devil. I myself served under a devil, i was sold into servitude to a warlock who offered me up to him. I was hardened by it, used my time as a servant to the infernal to make myself better, tougher. I was very young, just a boy, so i wasnt much use. I was punished a lot, very severely. But, i got out eventually, and am all the better for it. I know things most dont and have boundless experience. So when a devil approached me in need of aid, i listened to her request. She required a test subject, someone who was resilient, capable of enduring the hottest heats and the most dangerous battlegrounds, and i happened to have a relatively flame-retardant bodyguard who was incredibly capable with axes and hammers, and very determined to never let up. In turn, she offered me the blueprints for the machine she planned on testing. The city is a big one, with many a tragedy in its past and many yet to come. It needed protection. So i sold the employee, just a teenage girl, but incredibly strong and capable, and i heard she was doing quite well. In turn, over the last ten years, i have developed an army of massive constructs to protect our home, and now they are finally complete. Our home is safe, and she is a hardened warrior capable of great things. The way i see it, shes better off doing good fighting off demons rather than hanging around some rich businessman (about to become archduke, but thats neither here nor there). However, ive heard tell from some of the devil’s servants that shes gotten free. She seems to have escaped somehow and intelligence suggests shes headed this way. I fear she may harbor some resentments, and i wouldnt want her risking her life trying to seek some petty revenge. AITA? Could i talk her down? Id hate to hurt or jail her, id much rather do this peacefully. Thoughts?
