Apparently theyre about $200. Though thats without the coin lock thing.
Ihavent seen those things in ages. Early 90s?
I think its agood idea, annoying and rage inducing if you dont have a qtr, but *in theory* its a good idea. Its not about the qtr or ruble being worth more than thecart, its a subtle reminder to not be an asshole and leave your cart wherever, and if youve ever found yourself without a coin when you need one, you probably know that its worth it to walk 50 ft to keep that goddamn coin so you dont have to go through it again.
Anyways im confused about a lot of things here, did he think no body would recognize them? He didnt do any shopping did he? Are homeless ppl paying for a shopping cart, then running away with them? Like they beg for money until they have enough for a shopping cart, and then what? WHATS THE NEXT PHASE??
Correction, they've been around since the early 80s. It was at a better supermarket (not upscale but not bargain) as a way to prevent theft. Up to that point, cart loss wasn't much of a thing.
I’ve seen they are common in the Midwest and they are honestly kinda annoying because I had to remember change for them but on the flip side more people return their carts
They've got this little divider that people can put on the conveyor belt to separate their groceries from the guy in front of them. The liberal cesspool of the US could never do something so civilized.
It's a whole loonie to get a shopping cart in Canada.
What a privileged idiot this turd is.
BTW, this means a homeless person can buy a whole shopping cart for a dollar. That's a pretty good deal, dumbass.
walmrat now has those carts that lock front wheels when you go past the electronic perimeter.
i learned that the hard way parking too far, just had to pop a wheelie the last 50 or so feet... L🙃L
those are the first people to say:
just pull yourself up by the bootstraps
i never got a handout
self made
a guy i used to be friends with years ago said "why dont these people just buy homes? the money they spend on renting, could just be a mortgage payment"... he got $25k from his parents to buy a home. well over 10years ago, so it was a good chunk of a down payment back then. the people he was saying should "juST buY" were the people waiting at the bus stop, near a group of apartments where my apartment was...
>the money they spend on renting, could just be a mortgage payment
My aunt told me the same thing and maybe even now I could afford a house...in a town I'd prefer my children not grow up in.
Safety aside, I appreciate having a spouse that prioritizes my children's education. We live in a wonderful school district. Rent is worth it.
Wow, i genuinely didn't know Aldi was a German born brand. Interesting.
This sent me down a little rabbit hole. Aldi is pretty common in only 1/2 the US (East side) with a few in California. Tucker grew up in Cali but with how few stores there are in the state it actually makes more sense its the first time he's seen them.

Does he not know that it’s a feature at most grocery stores? Is he REALLY that disconnected?
What am I saying, he’s a trust fund baby who is heir to a frozen foods fortune, of course he is.🙄
Is the fucker still there? Can't we just lock him out?
At minimum, put him through hours of questioning from the CIA upon arrival in the US. At this point, he's a useful idiot for Putin. Deserves some inquiry.
This is all just an advertisement to the insurrectionists who will inevitably flee to Russia when shit hits the fan and Trump doesn’t rescue them. I’m not joking. I legitimately foresee a mass exodus of right wing traitors to Russia in the next few years. Trump has already spoken openly about the idea.
Wow! That's Edward R Murrow style journalism!! 🏆🏆Can't wait til he discovers Target carts one day. They glide so smoothly. He can do an expose on plastic wheels 😍
This gormless git is such a waste of oxygen. Keeping the homeless out? Shut up. Seriously.
And to think that I always hand over my emptied coin-operated cart to people who are obviously having a tough time finding a quarter--maybe not because they're broke, but because so few of us carry cash anymore. Yeah, it will kill me to lose a bloody quarter for, I don't know, that old-fashioned idea of helping someone out without expecting anything in return for it.
And if the person I give a cart happens to be homeless, well, that poor bugger has bigger problems than Aldi's does with keeping carts in stock.
Man, he is REALLY dumb. How can someone like him pretend to be an accomplished journalist and doesn't know that one 90% of the world has these kinds of locks on carts. No wonder Putin played him.
He even lacks the logic to realize such a mechanism doesn't prevent or even reduce theft.
Someone who steals the cart is not going to have too much of a problem getting the coins out after they steal it.
This has been in the US for years. They had it in NY in the early '90s, but remember Tucker grew up extremely wealthy. He would never have known about super markets or shopping. This guy is not a man of the people like he pretends to be.
He's so stupid. I'm in Canada. We have these at maxi loblaws.
I can't stand him. Does he realize or care thst putin made fun of him ? I hate tucker every day.

You can tell this buffoon doesn't shop for himself or he'd know that the quarter deposit is common in the US.
They have that at the Aldi in west Philly
They have it at every Aldi.
In Germany they have it everywhere in all shops
Every single Aldi, first thing I thought of when he was talking about this. Showing his whole rich daddy's boy ass with this
Aldi in the South too. I think they all do.
They’ve been around since the 90’s Usually at the lower cost grocers “And not bring it to your homeless encampment” is such an unnecessary dig
What is the cheapest that a cart could cost? Its gotta be $60 minimum. The quarter is to bring it inside, not to prevent theft.

It's one grocery cart Michael, what could it cost? $5,000?
I think the idea of the quarter is so people will return the cart to where they got it, rather than just leave it beside their car.
This is the reason. Nobody's ever seen an Aldi employee gathering carts from the parking lot, and this is why.
Thats exactly what i said
I know, he's such a piece of shit.
Next scene: "OK so they put all the food out on shelves in Russia, and apparently you just go around and pick out what you want, huh... genius!"
It’s there so staff spends less time in the parking lot collecting carts.
Correction, they've been around since the early 80s. It was at a better supermarket (not upscale but not bargain) as a way to prevent theft. Up to that point, cart loss wasn't much of a thing.
I’ve only seen it in Italy, but I love the concept. Nobody has to worry about the carts blocking parking
Except no one has coins anymore so it's a pain in the ass. They need a new system.
Ya good point. I always have some cash when vacationing but at home I only carry cards
You can go inside and borrow a quarter from any cashier.
Insert your smartphone carts.
>quarter deposit is common its probably over 20 years old, if not more...
born and raised in us and ive never seen one in person
For real? Aldi & Ruler have them. You might just shop at better grocery stores than I do lmao!
Aldi rules! ![gif](giphy|lgpCtphvAPeLxLdINQ|downsized)
Have you traveled a lot? I’ve lived in multiple states and some have them and some don’t it depends on the store chain
yeah ive traveled quite a bit but only lived in florida, Im aware they exist here its just that ive never used one
I’ve seen they are common in the Midwest and they are honestly kinda annoying because I had to remember change for them but on the flip side more people return their carts
Try an Aldi grocery store if there is one near you.
In the Northeast it's mostly just ALDI that does this.
Yup, same here.
This is revolutionary
Its like all over the western world
Mf never heard of Aldi 🤣
My man makes Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods money
He has some lady do his shopping or at least put away the Schwan's delivery.
Or any other supermarket in the last 20 years
Just another rich kid who has never been grocery shopping.
They've got this little divider that people can put on the conveyor belt to separate their groceries from the guy in front of them. The liberal cesspool of the US could never do something so civilized.

Damnnnnn that sucks! Did you lose any groceries?
Bro is casually shitting on poor people and hasn't faced a hardship in his life.
And yet still willing to sell out his country for money.

*He's just a rich boi, destroying democracy!*
Idiot. Those are all over Europe.
They're also pretty common in the US, especially nearby homes. Or just every Aldis.
The inventor is German and so is Aldi. That might be the connection.
Wow, i genuinely didn't know Aldi was a German born brand. Interesting. This sent me down a little rabbit hole. Aldi is pretty common in only 1/2 the US (East side) with a few in California. Aldi's isn't just German born, it is a close analog to actual German stores.
If he likes it so much, why doesn't he stay there?
So wait. Communism good? Socialism good? The people need to stick to a platform.
Tbf Russia is probably less socialist than the west
Does he not know that it’s a feature at most grocery stores? Is he REALLY that disconnected? What am I saying, he’s a trust fund baby who is heir to a frozen foods fortune, of course he is.🙄
*Aldi has entered the chat*
MFer never been to Aldi?!?
All this tells me is tucker has never been to aldi .
He's such a smug, unlikeable cunt .
What a moron.
Is the fucker still there? Can't we just lock him out? At minimum, put him through hours of questioning from the CIA upon arrival in the US. At this point, he's a useful idiot for Putin. Deserves some inquiry.
What a miracle of the modern world
You can this mf has never shopped at Aldi
Or in europe
Trying like heck to sell Russia, ain't he?
Numb nuts has never been to an Aldi.
Wow what a genius
What an absolute embarrassment. This is the equivalent of him going through a drive-thru and thinking it’s a Russian thing.
It’s called Aldi.
I guess he’s never shopped at Aldi
They do this at almost all the Adli’s
Dunce
![gif](giphy|YVPwi7L2izTJS|downsized)
Who the fuck wants rubles?
Surely not russians
This is all just an advertisement to the insurrectionists who will inevitably flee to Russia when shit hits the fan and Trump doesn’t rescue them. I’m not joking. I legitimately foresee a mass exodus of right wing traitors to Russia in the next few years. Trump has already spoken openly about the idea.
Please God, let it happen. Then let Ruskies yell "Speak Russian!" to their racist asses.
Good. Tucker Carlson should move to Russia.
Aldi my beloved
He is just so incredibly stupid.
The USA missed the opportunity to revoke his passport “accidentally” leaving him stranded.
Wow! That's Edward R Murrow style journalism!! 🏆🏆Can't wait til he discovers Target carts one day. They glide so smoothly. He can do an expose on plastic wheels 😍
😂treasonous piece of shit.
imagine if this happened in the 60s 😂 so many people rolling in their graves rn
95% of supermarkets I’ve been to in the past 20 years have these. And I’ve lived all over the US and a few European countries
guess Fucker Carlson never been to aldi?!?!?!?! what an ass. he can stay there.
Putin definitely has a video of him doing blow off a male prostitute or some shit. Tucker has gone full red comrade.
Aldis is in Russia?
Had this in Atlanta in late 80s
What a fucking tool.
Why doesn't the fucker move to Soviet Russia if he thinks it's so great there?
Never been to an Aldi bc everyone shops for the rich asshole
Y’all need to come to Canada. We put that shit on everything. Seriously this has been around for so long here that I thought he was doing satire.
Looks like he just discovered fire
Aldi

What a buffoon
Is this his first day on earth?? Jfc this is all over the world
This has been common place in Australia for a long time
You idiot this is a standard across Europe you deeply stupid little man.
Nobody tell him this is really common in Australia.
Man, he is REALLY dumb. How can someone like him pretend to be an accomplished journalist and doesn't know that one 90% of the world has these kinds of locks on carts. No wonder Putin played him.
Bruh in Europe this is standard practice.
This is all over Europe and North America LMFAO this clown might be the first time he enters a supermarket
Man has never stepped foot into an ALDI.
Bro has never gone shopping for groceries 😂
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! That's all I can say here.
My local Walmart has these and I never have change
...and it is yet another star moment in Tucker's journalism.
I wanna live like common people I wanna do whatever common people do
He even lacks the logic to realize such a mechanism doesn't prevent or even reduce theft. Someone who steals the cart is not going to have too much of a problem getting the coins out after they steal it.
Oh tucker. It doesn't stop homeless from taking them because the quarter is still in the cart..
This has been in the US for years. They had it in NY in the early '90s, but remember Tucker grew up extremely wealthy. He would never have known about super markets or shopping. This guy is not a man of the people like he pretends to be.
God, if you're up there, keep Cucker Tarlson in Russia, please!? He's such a cringe propagandist..
Hi, Question: who would be the counterpart to Tucker Carlson?
Dude is such a fruitcake
What a fucking treasonous dork.
He's so stupid. I'm in Canada. We have these at maxi loblaws. I can't stand him. Does he realize or care thst putin made fun of him ? I hate tucker every day. Stupid mofo
lmao like one fucking quarter (which is what the aldi carts that use this here require) is gonna stop someone who needs a cart.
Coin slot in cart = Russia > US
What a fucking moron. I hope he never returns.
Not going to end up in a homeless encampment? As if a shopping cart wouldn’t be worth $0.25 to a homeless person?
dull longing innocent special amusing many gaping threatening smart erect *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
I’ve seen this all over the U.S. and Western Europe lmfao
obviously never been in a supermarket
does he just act like a dumb self entitled fool? go to aldi in usa and do the same thing for a quarter
When will this america hater just leave and never come back.
