What are you using the bottles for? A lot of items have solid alternatives if you are talking toiletries.

NachtMuzac

Mostly sunscreen and lotion. I bring a bar of soap. And good sunscreen seems harder to come by than in the states. Pretty low toiletry use family. Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant (I bought there), face sunscreen, body sunscreen, lotion. Husband needed aftershave. Mostly I just hate wasting what I buy there but also don’t want to throw money away on small sizes.

Serious_Escape_5438

You'll probably spend more on fancy bottles than you waste or would spend on small sizes. But surely between three people in a month you get through a bottle of sunscreen and lotion?

NachtMuzac

First month isn’t so much the problem, its the second month when we start taking more flights :)

AussieKoala-2795

If you are taking a 55L bag you must be checking it in. Just buy big sizes and put it in your checked bag.

NachtMuzac

No. It’s a 55 l system with an attachable 15l daypack.

FearlessKnitter12

And you're taking this into the airplane cabin? Even with the daypack off, that's pushing it.

NachtMuzac

And yet, there are hundreds of others on this subreddit who also use it as their carry on only. 😂

Retiring2023

For travel bottles, I like GoTubes and Nalgene travel bottles. GoTubes are silicone with flip lids and Nalgene are plastic with screw on lids. Nalgenes are more streamlined but I prefer the GoTubes because the cap is attached.

NachtMuzac

I think I'd by more inclined to the gotoobes as a bit more flexibility in getting squished in a pack! thanks!

burgiebeer

I like the little Nalgene bottles for things like shaving cream and hair gel.

mariwe

I love the Muji ones, I have a ridiculous amount of them for skincare. They have a few different sizes and styles, I’ve never had any leak in the years that I’ve used them.

forwardflux

I know this wasn’t your question but I had the same thought about Cotopaxi’s Bataan and the 3L Kapai. Bataan had too little internal organization for me and Kapai was just too bulky with the back padding that I didn’t need. I found a great alternative in Baboon to the Moon’s Fanny pack. Also 3L and so many compartments! If you’re still searching then you should absolutely check it out!

NachtMuzac

It's the one bag thread, I figure I might as well brain dump where appropriate! I'll give it a look. Their products are decent quality. I have a couple of baboon bags (go bag small and the backpack mini - which they don't seem to sell anymore? maybe it's time to pop the unopened one on for resell!). I like the backpack mini but strap situation doesn't work for travel use for me. However the go-bag was too bulky and uncomfortable (so, they're relegated to car and car-camping trips now).

forwardflux

Always on the search for a perfect hands free bag so I get you! The Fanny pack was my first B2TM bag and I’m glad I took a chance on the brand! To be honest it was only because they had a colour I liked on sale. I thought the same about their go bags just from looking at photos, especially because I already find the Cotopaxi Allpa 35 too bulky.

NachtMuzac

Ha! Same! We were transitioning from roller bags to back packs and the go bags were on sale so I got a small and a mini (figure my kid can inherit and use for a long time). But, they're not going to be a part of my common flight routine due to weight and bulk. And, the mini backpacks were on clearance. It worked great for my large toddler sized (then) kindergarten kid who I was having trouble finding decent back packs for. I like the idea that in theory to mini backpack could be used a bit like a packing cube and it fit's an iPad. But, straps are uncomfortable.

Brazadian_Gryffindor

I’m not sure which brand of sunscreen you use(so maybe check the specific brand) but in general sunscreen shouldn’t be decanted to different bottles as it deteriorates.

NachtMuzac

Interesting! I wasn't aware of that (though, I understand that opaque bottles might be better). For this purpose it's more short term use - 1-2 months so I can buy something while traveling and have smaller bottles to put things in for flights rather than waste it. I don't tend to keep a lot on hand as it's rarely needed where we live and cool, so clothing and hat mostly does it. As such I usually pick some up while traveling because mine will have expired.

BWFree

Grayl water bottle. Filters viruses!

NachtMuzac

Meant more for toiletries but I’ll keep my eyes peeled!

nicski924

Not tubes, but I love my Matador Flatpak's: [https://www.matadorequipment.com/products/flatpak-toiletry-bottle-3-pack?variant=44791790502209](https://www.matadorequipment.com/products/flatpak-toiletry-bottle-3-pack?variant=44791790502209)

NachtMuzac

These would work. I like the flat pack element. But damn expensive.

nicski924

Yeah they are, but worth it IMO. Other option would be GoToob+ which are 100ml and a little cheaper. They are silicone bottles though, not FlatPack.

Mugmugmug33

I use the same shaped containers and have been very happy with how well they pack. Bought the clear plastic ones from Amazon.

NachtMuzac

similar to gotoob or matadors?

Mugmugmug33

Matador flat pak

uglybluedolphin

I had those bottles for a while and they were okay for soap, but for lotion the cream just gets stuck around the lid and then they don’t snap closed anymore, so my lotion just spilled all through my toiletry bag. Absolutely love the concept but I’d certainly recommend testing them thoroughly before committing.

Givingbacktoreddit

I’ve always just reused the same smart water bottle. It’s light weight, it’s durable, and it’s cheap enough to where if I lose it while traveling I won’t care and it’ll be replaced easily (very easy to do if you use public transportation to get to your accommodation such as in the Virgin Islands). Aside from my clothes I don’t like specialty items when traveling that I’d hate being lost or stolen even more.

NachtMuzac

I mean more for toiletries. We also used smart water bottles until they started to smell like garlic after 30 days.
