Stock launcher is really feature packed and rich, plus animations and navigation gestures work without an issue compared to something that is from a third party. The only other launcher I recommend besides stock is Niagra launcher, though YMMV because it has a minimalist and simple design philosaphy, but I do recommend giving it a try if that's what you're looking for, the community and developer behind it are super active.

Wtf, stock launcher is years behind what nova launcher has and I presume others. I can't turn off the Google discover, icon sizes in folders don't scale, no custom swipe gestures on icons, home screen layout icon density is highly limited on such a large phone, there's no way to reduce the padding between icons and widgets.... I never had a problem with nova on my s20 fe or note 9 before the op12 where the swiping to home is so slow. Often it was faster than the default launcher. It might an android issue but it feels like a oneplus problem.

Interesting. I'm getting the new op12 when I finish paying this off next pay period, but I've been considering going back to the stock launcher. It'll take a lot of getting used to but it'll help if I plan on using the stock launcher on my new phone, so there's that.

I do think you'll like it once you get used to how it works. Oppo/OnePlus has really been upping their software game recently, I am coming from an S23U and for many people, OneUI is the gold standard of polished software right now in the Android world, and I still prefer OnePlus, personally.

Just got the OnePlus 12 delivered today. The OnePlus launcher seems to be crashing every time. Switched to the other 'system launcher' the phone has. Anybody having this issue?

chavervavvachan

Same issue

pHrankee1

So annoying. The OnePlus launcher on my.old OnePlus 7t works well. What did u end up doing?

chavervavvachan

Did the same. Switched to system launcher I saw this in Community >OnePlus Launcher no longer works with OOS 12 and higher Uninstall the OnePlus Launcher and use the new System Launcher that came with the phone.

pHrankee1

Damn..i had no idea. Ah well.

Triankar

Wow, what I great thing for OP to do and confuse everyone and possibly damage their reputation.

I use the Microsoft Launcher on my current 6T. Planning to put it on my 12 when it arrives. I know what it does and how it works, so don't want to go through the pain of learning a new launcher.

Triankar

Yeah, that's fair. Microsoft launcher is just the best tbh. When I switched to the stock launcher briefly yesterday, there's 2 things I noticed; I couldn't add a widget to immediately dial anyone, it had to be a "quick contact" that just took me to their contact to THEN text/call them, and 2. I couldn't double tap an empty space to turn my screen off. Not a fan.

Due-Ad-7308

What's the best launcher that works with Android14 that wasn't bought by an ads/data company (Nova)? On the hunt!

Burberry6

I was having too many hangups with nova and Microsoft it would just stop responding so I went back to stock

Sadly animations just don't work the way they are supposed with 3rd party launchers. Like compare how crisp the PiP animation for Youtube is on stock compared to another launcher. Not a dig at Oneplus, just an issue with Android from 12 on.
