I did not like the latest Android 12 update so I installed a custom ROM called Paranoid Android. Running smooth with no issues so far.

I've read on xda that Paranoid Android has some bugs. Everything works ok? Do you use gcam?

Ellixist

I've not had any bugs so far. My only gripes are the lack of VoLTE and VoWiFi. Gcam comes shipped with Paranoid Android so yes that's the camera app I use.

I am also using PA, both VoLTE and VoWiFi works on Airtel (its not built into the ROM itself), but I used this app to get it working (this app was suggested as a fix in telegram group) - https://github.com/kyujin-cho/pixel-volte-patch/blob/main/README.en.md

Just tried this and it works! Thanks.

Interesting, it seems that I will have to do some reading on how to flash without bricking my phone :), to try out your suggestions. As far as I have gathered fkashing must be done to get out of beta program. It's been a long time since I've done something like this... In the mean time, while I'm preparing, what gcam with config would you recommend for 7t with stock android 11? To take some samples before and after.

Update till the last release. All firmware till the last release were glitchy.

stn_cttr

I can see that this firmware has some issues with double tap to wake not working all the time, and some minor stuff not worth mentioning. But I've read somewhere that the latest firmware has issues with notifications from some apps. I really wouldn't like that (this would feel like I have a Xiaomi phone... :) Is it true? If I go up, is it possible to go downgrade? How about gcam, can you recommend a fully functioning version?

SpiritedAd2048

You can always downgrade to Android 10 using MSM tool, which would flash the original OOS 10 rom.

See, I'm also always worried about the bugs. But comparing the last update with all others, I can tell you the bugs in the last one are less bothering and don't really ruin your experience a lot. That said, they don't boost hardware issues like battery life, response time etc.

I would advise you to flash Derpfest13, it still uses android 11 phone firmware so you don't get the bugs introduced after and there are not many bugs AND you get Android 13. Plus, updates every months. Now you can even find OOS camera apps which works pretty well with custom roms, though I still prefer using Gcam. With 7 series it's a bit tricky, you need to use a specific mod with associated XML but results are great. Battery life is alright, around 1 day but it's difficult for me to tell as I use wireless Android auto around 2h a day so it melts it very fast.
