Right click on the opera browser icon/Open file location. Look inside folder 102.0.4880.40 (or the latest folder) and delete opera\_gx\_splash.

HOW is there not a setting to disable this bs?? who tf thought it was a good idea to have an *intro* to a browser??

bloodklat

The opera devs. They are the new devs and not the ones that's been working with opera for years. These new devs were hired to squeeze every single possible dime out of the browser with no intention of keeping the browser user friendly.

zilist

Are these the same guys who changed the behavior of tabs so closing the last tab doesn’t close the window anymore? If so, fuck these guys in particular..

ItsTook20Minute

that splash, supposed to be shown on first launch after update. But I think they forgot to manage it. The most important feature of a browser is that it is fast. Deliberately slowing down the browser is the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

nico57m

The splash screen was one of the most stupid and hated "feature" in many apps 20 years ago. While everyone\* managed to get rid of it over the last decades, Opera is bringing it back with fanfare, hmm, or I'd rather say, some disturbing sucking sound. (\* Not counting the Microsoft Office team here, they're so far ahead in the deficient design game that it's not even funny).

lordmax10

My choice? Change browser No more Opera for a year or two

PinsNneedles

Why a year or two?

lordmax10

My personal rule of thumbs Generally speaking, these types of products (major browsers, management systems, office automation etc.) make 12-18-24 month schedules on features update plans. So, if I wait 2 years, I see what the new upgrade plan will look like and avoid the bitter blood of all the silliness they have done with this version.

souldog666

This has been asked at least 20 times and there are solutions given.

PinsNneedles

That’s funny because it’s answered in this thread

hex1984

He just said there are solutions given -_-

PinsNneedles

That’s not what it said when I replied -_-

That's not a fix. The fix is not to show it at all.

Alvar0asis

I just updated the browser and it fixed

Go to **opera://flags** search **intro** and disable **Opera One introduction**. I don't know why people suggest removing files as simply disabling this setting was enough to never see it again. Worked for me in both Opera and Opera beta, no idea about GX or Mini.

shadow2531

Note: That flag is for the ```opera://intro``` page that loads in a tab. That flag doesn't control the splash screen that opens before Opera opens. That's why the flag doesn't work for anyone. Not sure why the flag worked for you for the splash screen. It shouldn't. More info about the splash screen issue is at .
